- Jeff Z00Not worth it and could have done a better job organizing a trip to ha long/cat ba by myselfIt was an okay experience but not worth it in my opinion. We did the 2 day 1 night trip and was disappointed overall. The bay is beautiful so at least I enjoyed that but there was much to be desired by the cruise itself. To start the food was not very tasty and there was no selection for what you wanted to eat during meals. It was bland and honestly any street food anywhere else in Vietnam is miles better in terms of taste. It’s like they combined the worst of western and Vietnamese food for their fusion fare. It felt like they were trying to push guests to buy overpriced drinks all the time. Water was not complimentary so you were essentially held hostage to buy their overpriced bottles of water (so many small plastic bottles are probably why ha long bay is so polluted) The excursions were okay but not great. We were dropped off at a dirty looking bay with some plastic floating around and put in old dingy kayaks. They told us to explore but offered no guide or even told us when to return. On their schedule it said it was between 3-5pm for this activity but when we got back at 4:30 they staff were quite rude about how we took too long and they wanted to get going (despite their own schedule saying it was until 5 and tons of other boats in the area still kayaking and swimming) The boat also advertised wifi access but it barely worked. The jets in the bath also did not work. The bed was simply two twin mattresses pushed together so it was not comfortable. At night they blasted loud music whicu made it hard for guests who wanted to sleep earlier for the very early morning excursion. For the price spent I easily could have had a better experience just booking day trips and staying in a nice hotel.
- Getaway73500800Mixed experienceA mixed experience. Some positives: -Staff were really friendly and the room was nice and clean with a good balcony and view. -Plenty of food (perhaps too much!) and catered for dietary requirements. -Tour on Cat Ba island and the kayaking on the second day was a great experience and well organised. - sunrise was exceptional (but we could have just been lucky) Some negatives: - Drinks were hugely overpriced and we had to pay for water (small bottle 4x price in Hanoi). We were also advised from the staff on the boat not to buy drinks from local vendors which meant we had no option but to buy from the boat. We would recommend stocking on water before boarding. - Bright and dark cave tour was disappointing - not really a cave - Boat not as modern as some of the others in the bay - squid fishing offered as activity but on board the boat we were informed due to the number of boats in the bay there aren’t very many squid around….
- A1046ABemmaa00Great views all roundI was with sapphire for a 3day/2night trip with two friends and it was perfect. All the staff were exceptionally attentive and the activities were fun. The food was lovely and varied and catered for all requirements! Thank you to the team!
- Christina A00Highly recommend Halong Sapphire CruiseStayed with my friends for 3 days and 2 nights - beautiful scenery, attentive and kind crew, and brilliantly planned day trips. Highly recommend to anyone - thank you to all the crew :)
- Megan A00Great crew, views and tripsStayed on the boat for 3 days and 2 nights and loved it. Great day trips and fantastic service from the staff on board (Power, Hoang, Tom Cruise, James Bond and all other staff). Great value for money - thank you!
- Navigate6233665194200Bay cruise 2 nightsGreat accommodations,and attenative staff. Meals are well done. The cruise and activities are well coordinated. The rooms are comfortable with the ever changing views of the beautiful bay.
- shannonrU6057WJ00MagicalMagical experience ✨️🪷💙🌴✨️ The staff was amazing and went above and beyond at all times to ensure we were comfortable and had everything we needed while enjoying this very special adventure
- 335bertb00Excellent cruiseAfter our trip to Vietnam we booked This tour to relax and enjoy Halong Bay. It was Great. Very good food and the staff was very Nice. If You want to go on a cruise take This one You won’t regret.
- WonderlusTravel00Great Trip!We are a couple from Europe and we stayed 2 days, 1 night, on the cruise. We had a great experience with amazing service, the whole crew was very friendly and welcoming, special thanks to our guide Power. The cook had prepared a delicious local selection of foods, with shrimps, oysters, squid only to name a few. The rooms are very clean and also well equipped. Along with the stunning views of the limestone mountains scuttled throughout the sea, we could also enjoy the rich program (kayaking, swimming, spring-roll-cooking-course, squid fishing…) and had enough time for relaxing on deck with drinks from the bar.
- Relax76511600Sapphire Cruise shipHad a great experience on this overnight cruise. Our room was very spacious and well appointed with a balcony. Food and service was good. Swimming in the waters off the boat was refreshing. I was under the impression that we would be cruising around, but that was not the case as the boat hardly moved at all. Still an overall good experience. Shame about the amount of plastic in this area considering it is a UNESCO Heritage site.
- judith19ma00Great experience on ha long Bay with Sapphire CruisesTook a 2 day 1 night cruise to ha long Bay on Sapphire Cruises. They were excellent in every way: Service, food, friendliness, activities offered, cleanliness, I could not fault them. Certainly would recommend them.
- 668rachg00United people around the worldThis has been such an unexpectedly wonderful experience. The bay is stunning but what made it extra special was the crew. They are delightful and helpful, funny buggers who entertain and connect with you. Rooms are good but I wasn’t really in there. Never did karaoke before but they got me up and between Vietnamese, Aussie, danish, Norwegian and Turkish people we had a blast. Tao chi at sunrise too. Leaving tired and happy. Others did have quiet time too if that is your preference. Kayak and cave visits. If you are lucky Mr King might tell your fortune from your face or release pressure points too!
- H4947BXaudreyc00AMAZING!!What an awesome cruise!! The host Power was absolutely amazing and made the experience so entertaining. The crew were absolutely lovely and made lots of new friends on the cruise too!! I loved the activities, the kayaking, swimming and biking. The lunches and dinners were AMAZING - such good food. I was blown away! Thanks so much Sapphire cruise!! I definitely recommend! They also picked us up from our accomodation in Hanoi and dropped us back there too!
- jessicaeF4447AQ003 Day 2 Night Cruise in AprilThe Sapphire cruise was an amazing experience. The crew were so vibey and kind. Always willing to lend a hand wherever and whenever needed. Power was an awesome host and guide, never failing to give everyone a good laugh. We did the 3 day 2 night cruise and it was definitely worth the extra day. We got to explore the local villages on Cat Ba island which was amazing. The food was also insane. Each meal was around 8 courses and delicious. We went kayaking and swimming, including a sneaky jump off the top of the boat. The water was a little cold in April but the views were amazing. After each swim we’d have a nice warm bath in our private jacuzzi. Overall a great trip!
- 667tedf00Spectacular scenery and fantastic staff, food and accommodation.We joined a Sapphire Cruise on Ha Long Bay as part of a tour with Unique Tours. The boat topically holds 45 or so people but, by chance, on this occasion there were only 13 of us making for a very intimate and personalised service. We were upgraded to the cabin on the top deck with a private garden and panoramic view. The food was outstanding and plentiful, the views were spectacular and our cabin was so nice we were reluctant to leave.

We took a full board 2D1N tour with high expectation of the experience. We were disappointed :
1. Day 1: the 3-4km walk from our hotel to Cat Cat Village was manageable but was quite uncomfortable under the scorching sun at 36degree C, the uphill walk back rom the village was most challenging;
2. Cat Cat village is a touristy attraction so while it was interesting, it is not exactly 'authentic', role of the guide was to navigate and we were left alone to explore the place and take photos most of the time;
3. day 2 trekking was even worse as the route was long (12km according to the itinerary) and unpleasant : the road was under construction, very rocky and dusty with heavy vehicles sharing the way. There were some nice photo spots along the way but I personally don't find it worth the trek in such flaming hot weather. May be it is more pleasant in winter.
4. the itinerary listed 3 villages to visit- Y Linh Ho, Lao Chai and Tavan, there is no diff among them, all we saw was paddy fields and all we did was walking in the middle of paddy fields;
5. lunch in lao chai village - simple and adequate to fill up the stomach;
6. tour guide - maybe it was our luck: we got one who was more eager to stay far ahead with the other half of the troop, leaving us behind and at one point, we almost took a wrong turnif it was not for a peddler who followed along;
It's not worth the energy and time after all.

Absolutely fantastic! 2 night stay is best!!! The crew were so accommodating and personable, the activities excellent! Could not wish for more! We did so many things we may not have done otherwise (like fish massage, fortune telling, tai chi, squid fishing!) and enjoyed ourselves thoroughly! Particular highlight was Cát Bà Island, cycling through the beautiful landscape, tasting snake wine!!! We paid extra for the big room up top which was soooo worth it with panoramic views, crispy cold air con, modern facilities. Special shout out to our host, Mr Power, James Bond, and Mr King! Oh and I got my back cracked by the tai chi master releasing tension my physio has been trying to get rid of for years. If this review makes it sound too good to be true you gotta go for yourself and find out!
