      What a nightmare that was!!!
The train was the most interesting part of the trip actually! I got picked up at the train station and it was pouring. A mini van picked me up with another group of Asian people. I was standing in the rain until the driver could fit all luggage inside. It was like a Tetris game because there was not enough space for all luggage. I ended up at the back of the van between the luggage. An uncomfortable one-hour ride to Sa pa. I got dropped off at Panorama Hotel for a quick shower. A very uncomfortable experience too because it was in a hall with no changing room and it felt all dirty. The I got breakfast. That was nice! Got picked up by my guide and joined a group of people for a tour of the villages nearby on foot. That was the best part of the trip. Local women are following you all the way to sell you something at the end. That was the annoying part. We got lunch at Cha Pa Eco Lodge. That was good. In the afternoon, more walking through Sa pa countryside. You are supposed to get water, but you don’t get any. The guide is leading you the way, she doesn’t give you any information about the people. Do you learn about local people? NO. Do you know about rice paddies after your trip? No. I still don’t know how they collect rice… You could do that walk on your own with a good map of the area. We spent the night in a Homestay in a small village. The place we stayed at was called Hoang Hai Nam: a dormitory with 11 beds, and another room for 2. Hard mattresses. Very basic. I was not ready for that. Terrible situation to shower. Dinner was good. Breakfast was very simple: only pancakes with sugar and bad coffee. That was the down part to start the horrible day we had ahead of us! On that day, we trekked through more of Sa Pa countryside in the rain and with those local ladies following you again. One per person. They are very well coordinated. They want to help you walk but they are annoying because you lose your balance instead. The terrain was slippery, dangerous, muddy. It was the most horrible hike I have ever done in my life. Check the pictures! I wish they had given us the option to go back to Sa Pa by bus and forget about the tour because it was horribly foggy, we didn't see a think and the walk was a nightmare! I was scared to break a leg and fortunately nobody got hurt. It was extremely dangerous and I was fully concentrated not to fall. But I did several time in the mud. I am 42, I'm not old, but I can't imagine people older than me doing the same walk. It was uncalled and unsafe!!! What happened if someone breaks his neck??? I don't want to know. There were some parts on the road when I thought that if I slipped, I would land several meters down as it was impossible to grab anything. A NIGHTMARE!!! Then lunch, all wet and cold from the hike. Back in Sa Pa by bus after lunch, I jumped into the shower as I was cold, dirty, muddy and I didn't want to be sick. I slept at Panorama Hotel and on the next day, we got picked up to visit Bắc Hà Market. Almost 3 hour drive, no water on the bus again, no AC and a useless guide with very poor English. Interesting market to take pictures of local people but they cut the program short at 1:30pm, right after lunch. We were supposed to get this program: "In the afternoon, we go for a light trek to visit Ban Pho, the village is home to flower H’mong minority. We are invited to enter several local houses to have some green tea, corn wine, listen to the host talking about their family, talk to them." We went to a boring village with ZERO interest but there was nothing from the program. When I complained about it with the guide, he told me that because it is Sunday, people are not home. Really? Then why do they offer that tour and lie about the program since the market is only on Sunday??? I was furious! The guide didn't give us any information, we only got a ride to Bắc Hà and that was it. They called that a tour? In that case, I could have taken a bus by myself! My train was at 9:30pm and I was back at the station of Lào Cai at 3pm. What was I supposed to do for 6 hours with all my bags??? I had to suck it up and wait basically. No other alternative. Don't waste your time and money for a tour that is badly organised, unprofessional, and dangerous!!!

      Simply the best
Our guide was Daó and he was friendly, knowledgeable, alert to our needs and the best guide I’ve had in Vietnam. The tour was well thought out, well organised and took us to such incredible sights. Daó is a first rate photographer as well so make sure he takes some of your pics. I can thoroughly recommend this company and will use them if/when I return to Sapa. Many thanks Daó.

      Day trekking with Mai
We did two short tracks with Mai. She was a Hmong local, so very knowledgeable and spoke very good English. We trekked to Cat Cat village which was very touristy and Ta Van which was more authentic. The trek was challenging in parts but very rewarding. I would recommend a tour with Mai.

      Awesome couple of days
A big thank you for our wonderful two days spent with the first class tour guide Mai. We did a short trek down to Cat Cat village on our first day and then a longer 14km trek the second day . Mai was awesome - communicated really well, good sense of humour, very knowledgeable, patient, enthusiastic and all round a real gem 😊

Best local Mountain guide, good to see the view.
Fansipan mountain trekking can be seen as the best tour in Sapa. It brings to the travellers a type of Vietnamese adventure that should not be missed. It gives a chance to explore your ability and fire your pride when conquering the highest peak - Fansipan. we have very good time with a local Hmong Tour guide, he is funny, strong and speak well English. Thank all people at Sapa Pathfinder Travel.

      Amazing Guide - Great Experience
We are a couple in our early sixties and we completed two short treks with our amazing guide, Mai, in two days. The first was to her village of Lau Chi where we we even invited into her family home. The second was to Cat Cat. We also visited an amazing waterfall on the second day. We were transported by van to the start of each hike and the van was always ready at the end to return us to our hotel in Sapa. We cannot praise Mai enough. She was a bright and enthusiastic guide with extensive knowledge of village life.

      Incredible 4 days of touring
Our Canadian group of 7 (4 adults, 3 children) stayed in sapa for 3 nights. We were greeted by a warm smile and friendly guide, Huńg, who made our stay in Sapa the most unbelievable experience. We trekked to remote villages, saw waterfalls, experienced the Fansipan cable car. We learned so much from Huńg throughout each leg of our journey and he was very kind and helpful when we had questions. We would highly recommend this company!!!

      Incredible Fansipan 2D/1N Trek
My friend and I (2 active Canadian females ages 23 & 25) booked a 2D/1N trek up Mount Fansipan, the tallest peak in Indochina! Because it was the down season (July) we ended up with a private tour guide named Cu. He was the best! Great English, taught us lots and was so fun to hang out with. This hike is quite challenging. You should be in fairly good shape. The first day we hiked from about 9am-3pm. A porter followed us carrying food and sleeping bags. They prepared all of our meals. We camped partway up the mountain overnight at a camp with no electricity or running water, so pack warm clothing and toilet paper. We slept in a tent thing basically on a wooden board with a thin mat and sleeping bag. #fortheexperience. The dinner they prepared us was amazing local food. The other meals were good too but nothing spectacular. Pack a few snacks! In the morning we hiked another 1.5 hours to the summit. You can use the washroom and get a hot coffee there. Amazing views. Hundreds of people getting off the cable car up there... but you will be proud knowing you’re one of the only ones who hiked all the way up (we hardly saw anyone else on the trail which was awesome). It took about 4.5 hours to hike down with a lunch break and then you can take a shower at the hotel where you leave your bags. I can’t recommend this tour enough! And if you get Cu as your guide, you’re in for a treat!

Khanh was the best tour guide I've ever had
Khanh was the best tour guide I've ever had. A couple points: He was always punctual and kept us on the timeline without rushing us. He seemed like he knew everyone along the tour and was very friendly with everyone. His english was surprisingly good and he was always eager to learn more. He was very attentive to our needs and was willing to do as much or little trekking as the group wanted. He was always having fun with us and made the trek an absolute blast. If you have the chance, request him as your tour guide because I cant imagine they get much better than him.

Terrible experience- ruined Sapa. Dangerous and a waste of time and money. Unacceptable.
This company was booked by another tour company for us. The guide was a young girl who gave us no information at all and barely spoke a word of English. When she did talk, she was almost impossible to understand. Communication was very difficult with her. The trek was bizarre- no attempt made to create excitement, no information, and it was dangerous in parts. The guide kept walking on very fast and ahead of everyone even though she saw we were struggling because of the heat and no sleep on the overnight train and we had told her we were feeling unwell. We are quite fit usually and do long hikes often. No water was provided in such hot and humid conditions and we ran out of our bottles quickly. Luckily the local tribes women walking with us helped us and ran ahead to call the guide back because the guide was very irresponsible and had zero logic. The only information we got was also from the local women- the guide said nothing!! If an emergency had happened, I have no doubt this guide would not know what to do. Careless and dangerous. After about 2 hours we left the tour and did not return for tour the next day either. We did not want their food vouchers at the putrid and filthy Panorama Hotel with it's rude staff which the guide insisted on giving us. If you also booked the driver from the station to Sapa town and Panorama Hotel- shame on you! The cheapest, worst services ever. Train your guides better. Unacceptable. Not even worth 1 star. Show some respect for your customers- they don't want the cheapest, worst value experience ever.

Thanks Khanh for all your efforts! - terrific tour guide!
Khanh was an awesome tour guide, from the minute he picked us up he catered to all our needs and questions. His English is still progressing but he has made every effort to learn along the way. He was good fun, loved to have a laugh and is just an all round terrific dude! Khanh - 10/10 I must admit if you are doing a joint tour from Halong Bay cruise to Sa Pa this was pretty poorly organised and wasn’t explained at all to us in detail and needs improvement. Also getting an overnight bus and arriving at 6am with no room to shower in or relax in was poor - basically left in a hotel lobby for 3/4 hours until we started a trek at 10am

      King Khanh
We did the 3 day 2 night trek and homestay. Khanh was our local guide and made sure everything ran smoothly. The homestay was a little so-so and slightly unconfortable, what you expect in a small mountain village. The treking was more of a light walk. Approx 10 to 15k a day. Khanh was very knowledgeable about the area and pointed out the little things and was always making everyone laugh with his quirky jokes. He also took us to some places off the beaten path you would never find. Very enjoyable.
