- Go671204825640 contributionsIncredibleDo Gia Hung was our tour guide for this trip and he was phenomenal! Very attentive to our needs, knowledgeable of the areas we visited, and very charismatic. We highly recommend him to anyone visiting Northern Vietnam!Written June 21, 2024
- Jenny C0 contributionsBrilliant experience not to be missedWe didn’t really do any research before booking the 3 day tour. It was such a great experience and we thoroughly enjoyed every bit. Tommy our guide was excellent. He adapted to the weather and always checked we were happy with the itinerary. He is such a good tour guide and we can’t recommend him enough. Pu Luong and Trang A were incredible places. The tour gets you off the beaten track , through remote villages and areas. Accommodation is a great, and set in the most beautiful landscapes.Written May 10, 2024
- Guide2578050 contributionsAn exceptional experienceWe enjoyed absolutely everything about this wonderful tour. Communication with the company was faultless ( thank you Christophe) from the outset. Accommodation and food were exceptional. The tour itself was a lovely mix of physical activity (swimming, cycling and trekking), visiting the villages and relaxing at the accommodation. Our guide TK was wonderful- friendly, professional and flexible- and he looked after us so well from pick up to drop off. We particularly appreciated how he facilitated our conversations with the women weavers in the villages as their work was of particular interest to me. The community- based ethos of the company was a factor in our choosing their tour and we saw clear evidence of their commitment many times over the three days. I recommend Eco Travel 100%Written April 26, 2024
- ham1shloveswalks0 contributionsGet off the beaten track with this personalised, family friendly tour of Pu Luong and Ninh Binh.Travelling as 2 families with children ages 11 & 13 we were extremely impressed by this tour company (eco green) and the tour. I chose this tour based on a a few reviews at the time and the desire to get off the beaten track and see some something different in north Vietnam. The tour company exceeded our expectations providing a private and memorable experience for both families. We had our own private, spacious bus and knowledgeable guide for the entire trip. The company even helped us expedite our visas when we experienced delays and catered to our dietary needs including any allergies. They were also very accommodating eg after a tiring hike to the villages and caves allowing us to pay and scooter back to the top which the children loved. The food and accommodation was exceptional particularly in Pu Luong. I would highly recommend this tour. Many thanks to Christophe and Hung for the opportunity to create some special memories.Written April 24, 2024
- Elliecopps0 contributionsA great way to visit Pu Luong and Mai ChauThis was an excellent experience! Our tourguide Hung was very friendly and incredibly knowledgeable on the history of Vietnam and South East Asia in general, so we learned a lot during our trip! We were taken to some beautiful spots, most of these were "on the beaten track", but the benefit of doing this tour is that all the transport is provided and organised for you, which is really helpful in these remote locations where public transport is scarce. The main tourist locations in this region are still less busy than the main rural tourist destinations in the area, such as Sapa. The second accommodation spot in particular is a real highlight and is the nicest place my partner and I have stayed at in Vietnam. The food, atmosphere, staff, room and unexpected entertainment were all amazing and we loved every second. The first accommodation had lovely food, pool and atmosphere, but unfortunately the room was not that clean - there were blood stains on the sheets and the pillowcases were also dirty. They also seemed to have a slight cocroach issue - I was woken up in the night with one crawling on me. We understand that the insects may be out of the hosts control and normally a slightly scuffy room would not bother us, but as this experience is higher on the payment scale for Vietnam, it was slightly disappointing. Just something for the company/you to consider and manage expectations of before you go, as this was just our experience! Overall it was a still a great stay and if these issues could be resolved then we would have no complaints about this location. Overall, we had an excellent time, saw some areas of outstanding beauty and didn't have to worry about any of the logistics, and we were happy to be accompanied by Hung along the way!Written April 23, 2024
- king3880 contributionsAn undiscovered treasureWe had an amazing time on this trip which we chose as an alternative to visiting Sapa and we are so glad we did.The scenery was stunning and unspoilt and so quiet and peaceful. Our guide TK really was the best.He ensured we took the best paths and roads to see the natural environment and the local people and their way of life. His local knowledge of the area meant he could share insights into the White and Blck Thai people's customs and traditions whilst also knowing the best routes to take.He was careful to ensure the trip encompassed everything we wanted and thoroghly looked after us.He is an asset to the company a real gentleman. The places we stayed were so special too.Mai Chau Rustic House had great local dishes,a lovely swimming pool and we were upgraded to an enormous room whilst Eco Garden Lodge was in the most beautiful setting with fabulous gardens.Their food was delicious and the swimming pool had the most perfect view overlooking the valley and rice paddies. The emphasis on giving back to the local community and looking after the national park made me pleased that I had used this company.I thoroughly recommend it.Written April 10, 2024
- TheLeavingCerts0 contributionsPhenomenal tourThis was a really fantastic tour. We got to see some great sights including the rice terraces, the Thai minority people and phenomenal landscape. The bamboo boat tour was especially fun, we got to sit with our feet in the water and watch the local children swim and play, while the adults fished and brought the buffalo to the river. Double Đức was our guide and he was great. He was very funny, gave us great facts and information about the area, and clearly loves his job. He made us feel really welcome and spent a lot of time making sure we had some great photos to look back on. He kept us up to date on all the timings for example when the bus would arrive, when lunch was being served etc. He was also very respectful of our space whilst we were at the hotel. Due to the weather conditions, we were unable to make the trek to the bat cave, however we still got to see so much and learn a lot so we don’t feel like we missed out. The accommodation was lovely. The views were incredible, the staff were very friendly and accommodating, and room was clean and comfortable, and finally the food was outstanding (fresh, and big portions). Would absolutely recommend this tour if you want to see a side of Vietnam not well known. If you get Double Đức as your guide, you are in for a treat!Written April 9, 2024
- Jenniflowet0 contributionsHighly recommend for solo travellers. A great way to see 3 places in a short space of time and meet new friends.Loved the trip. Nat was a great tour leader, really well organised and kept us busy so that we enjoyed every minute. A great combination of activities and wonderful experience. Thank you, Nat!Written March 28, 2024
- lfl7470 contributionsBeautiful places, great tourHad a great time with my lovely guide, TK, on this tour. I'd assumed I'd be in a tour group so was surprised that it was just me. Luckily, TK quickly became my bestie. The tour was well organized and included a fantastic mix of activities to interesting places, and downtime. The Pu Luong eco-garden is a real treat. I was easily able to add an extra day in Ninh Binh and appreciated the company's flexibility and thoughtfulness (thanks Christophe!).Written March 27, 2024
- Erika d0 contributionsVisiting mai Chau and puluong has been a life changing experienceMr nat, my tour guide, guided me through a 3 days trip. I got to see the wonderful countryside and lives of Thai people. He speaks excellent English and is very attentive. Can’t wait to come back somedayWritten March 23, 2024
- Travel565867190670 contributionsWonderful places to visit!Mai Chau et Pu Luong are absolutely beautiful places worth visiting! I highly recommend this company, we stayed at two great locations where we had occasion to explore the life of locals - great experience and delicious food. ;) Our tour guide was Hung who’s a great professional who’s happy to share his knowledge about the places we visited - very kind with great sense of humor. We’ll definitely be back if an occasion occurs!Written March 16, 2024
- roznkaz0 contributionsGreat tripOur hotel suggested a tour to Mai Chau and Phu Luong and organised this group. Our guide, Nat, was excellent ! very good English and he is well informed about the places we went to. Has a good sense of humour and easy to spend those few days with him. Everything went smoothly. We were happy with meals and accommodation.Written March 13, 2024
- CarolyninTheWorld0 contributionsGorgeous and fun in a small group setting with excellent guide, lodging and food!!I do not hesitate to recommend this group!! I had such a wonderful time staying off the typical tourist paths and off the large tour buses in favor of eco-friendly lower-on-the-radar spots. I wanted a responsible, local, affordable, outdoor adventure with exercise, visits to communities, plus some culture, glamour and great food. I got it all!! Very experienced Truong expertly guided and coordinated our outings. He was very amicable, clearly loves the land, easy to understand (excellent English), on time, reliable, patient, and concerned with our comfort, safety, food issues, etc. He was assisted by office staff member Tuan who was equally enthusiastic and helpful--and happy to get reacquainted with the field. My favorites parts were the Puluong rice field paddy walks, which were just stunning--and not overrun like Sapa. Boating through 1 km cave (Tour C, I believe) at UNESCO site Trang An was a first and very exotic! Both of the ecolodges associated with ECO Travel-Go Green Vietnam were VERY comfortable. Great heating and bedding was divine. Food was abundant and excellent! I also appreciated that the "Halong Bay" cruise (not guided by the two gentlemen at that point) was actually to further parts in Lan Ha Bay and to Cat Ba island (both much less touristy). It was on Mon Cheri Cruises, which was a five-star accommodation. The boat was so luxurious and relaxing!! The crew and Cruise Director were top notch! Enjoy yourself with these folks!!!Written March 12, 2024
- karinvC6294AK0 contributionsSo much beautyMai Chau and Pu Luong is a beauty on earth. Hopefully it can keep his tranquility far from mass tourism. Mr Truõng guided us as the best! He loves his country very much and you can feel that. Mr Truõng doesn't talk all the time (like some guides do) but he was there for us, every moment of the day.Written March 10, 2024

Fantastic trip through the Pu Luong area with our amazing guide Son! Visited the exciting bat cave, great stayover at Eco Garden with good Vietnamese-Thai food. Visited locals and saw many rice terasses, the farming systems with waterwheels and the waterfall in one of the local villages. Absolute recommender to absorb some nice, not too touristic, local Vietnamese-Thai culture.

Pu Luong is amazing. From the Eco lodge hotel that was beautiful and had some of the best Vietnamese food we had to the landscapes of steep mountains and terraces of rice fields. Our guide Tommy was great - friendly, knowledgeable and always very helpful.

We was heading to Puluong Eco Garden 2D1N last week with excited feelings. Our house is a big stilt house contains 19. The weird thing is someone staying under, it's different with other stilt house. The best thing is food, so yummy and traditional, the staff are so nice, gentle and friendly.
Our tour is so so, we have 23 people and we had to use a small county 29 without the way in the between.

With a couple of days left before flying home I chose this excursion as a wind down and to escape hectic Hanoi.
As my visit coincided with the end of peak season I found myself the only person on this tour which meant the itinerary was flexible and made for a more informal experience. (For example, we saw a wedding whilst driving between areas and so we stopped off to say hey and partake in a few drinks which was a thoroughly enjoyable deviation from the programme!)
My tour guide was excellent, laid back and informative.
In terms of Pu Luong, what an absolutely stunning area. I found the scenery throughout Vietnam to be picture perfect beautiful, Pu Luong being no different and with an additional bonus of being a lot less crowded than many other areas.
The nature reserve is a wet dream for any entomologist or lepidopterist - the area is absolutely teeming with colourful critters. I found myself wandering around several times in the night around the accommodation on the look out for the nocturnal life and was not disappointed. Long sleeved clothing and a dab of repellent meant no insect bites which was nice.
The accommodation was excellent, all the staff were welcoming and friendly. The food was fantastic, lovely fresh ingredients with fancy (but wholly unpretentious) presentation.
If I could do the tour again I'd love to do a few more days to explore more of the area.

Dear Larry,
Thank you so much for this wonderful comment.
As you have noticed, we are focused in small group and even if there is only one customer, we still do the tour. Of course it is very flexible in that case. It can also happen with a bigger group. Our time schedules is large so we can save time for unforeseen experience ( wedding, any celebration, harvest ... ) Local people of Pu Luong are always willing to welcome visitors to join to their activities.
We also hope next time you will have more days to explore deeper this special place of Pu Luong Nature Reserve.
Best regards,
