We did a private food tour in old quarter Hanoi with Jamie, and she did a great job explaining each dish, including the ingredients, variations, and some history about each one. The time and amount of food was just right, and she asked us at each location if we wanted to try anything additional (unless you’re really hungry, save your appetite, it’s a lot!). There were five separate stops, taking just shy of 3 hours in total. We had Bun Thang, some street snacks, Bahn Mi, and two dessert stops, including the famous egg coffee. Would highly recommend this as a way to begin your stay in Hanoi and familiarize yourself with the local cuisine before striking out on your own.

Lyna was an excellent guide through The Old Quarter!
She showed us various streetfoods and accommodated for those I already experienced in another form. Beside the food itself Lyna was also a very good at storytelling about various places in Hanoi, their history and their meaning in the current world.
I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone that just arrived in Hanoi and wants to get a taste of it!

My daughter and I joined the private food tour with Kim and we had the best time. Kim initiated contact with us the day before to confirm our arrangements so we felt confidence in her and Viatour company. She was warm and friendly and talked with us about the culture and history of Vietnam, and answered all our questions. She was well spoken and articulate in English language which was fantastic as we could learn so much from her. In addition her choices of foods was very good, as well sampled both savoury and sweet dishes we had not tried before, and they were delicious.We will definitely recommend this tour and ask our friends to go with Kim, as we really enjoyed the experience. Thanks so much.

This is the perfect tour if you’re looking to try some of the best food in Hanoi. Our guide Dan was incredible, within minutes of meeting him it felt like a friend was showing us around Hanoi. He was professional, knowledgable and it was a pleasure to spend 3 hours with him. Rather than sticking to the typical Vietnamese food, we were able to try new dishes from local restaurants that we would have never have tried if we hadn’t of booked this tour. He tailored the experience to our needs and on top of the delicious restaurants we went to, Dan went above and beyond to give us even more recommendations for the rest of the trip. I would absolutely recommend this tour and if you can do it as soon as you get to Hanoi and go hungry! I will be revisiting all the restaurants we went to over the next few days! Thank again Dan!

Genevieve our guide was truly superb! Not only was she very knowledgeable, her detailed explanations and background insights were very engaging . She was energetic , thoughtful and very hospitable. Spoke great English too so we learnt a lot . Good selection and mix of sweet and savoury local dishes - what an excellent time. 100percent recommend .

Flexible about time and pickup point - after booking the guide contacts you through email or WhatsApp to ask your preference. We had to postpone by one day which was no problem, and then we were running late so messaged Dan our guide who arrived spot on the new time we arranged. He was so friendly and made sure to ask us what we wanted. He took us to 5 different local places where we tried Hanoi specialities. My favourite was the chicken pho. We didn't feel we'd over-eaten. We had just the right amount of food. Dan is a local and as we walked around we learned about Hanoi culture as well. At the end of the tour Dan showed me to the best street for my next stop shopping. Really good tour - we recommend.

since it’s quite hard to find vegetarian food places in Vietnam, we booked this tour via getyourguide and had an amazing experience with Hoang. He is a really knowledgeable and friendly guy who showed us around the city, had helpful insights and let us dive into the Vietnamese food culture. couldn’t be happier, 100% recommended

We had a very nice experience with Andy as our tour guide. We visited four local restaurants and a café and tried some local traditional dishes. I highly appreaciate that we got in touch even before the tour and got recommendations for dinner and some Hanoi sights. Personally, I believe that such a food tour is a great idea for first days in Hanoi as it not only provides an opportunity to taste amazing food but to get some context about the city and culture as well.

Our tour guide Austin took us on an amazing tour filled with cultural experiences and amazing food. We were enamoured by his knowledge and willingness to share the history of this beautiful city. His personal knowledge of restaurants provided us some of our best meals in the whole country. Anyone in Hanoi should make an effort to experience this tour. THANK YOU AUSTIN!!

This tour was the perfect way to start our time in Hanoi. We tried lots of foods we would not have otherwise and LOVED them all. It’s opened up a load of new options that we wouldn’t have experienced otherwise.
Ryan was really great dealing with our gluten intolerance and double checking it was safe for us to eat. No sore bellies afterwards so we know he did a good job! He was also happy to answer any of our many questions and managed our very tired kids really well. They were so excited to go back and have more of the same for dinner. Thank you!
