- Mellisa C0 contributionsAmazing way to explore the hidden food gems of HanoiWe had an absolutely fantastic time on the Hanoi Food Street Tour! From start to finish, it was a culinary adventure that truly immersed us in the flavors and culture of the city and all of this was made possible by our amazing guide Linh, with her incredible knowledge and passion. She share fascinating insights into each dish, its history, and the local ingredients. We sampled a wide variety of dishes (dishes we would not have tried without her guidance) and everything was incredibly delicious. It’s a must-do experience for anyone visiting Hanoi who wants to explore the city through its food. Highly recommend! Linh was the best! ❤️Written December 7, 2024

- raarmijo0 contributionsExcellent vegan food tourMy friend and I had an amazing time touring the French and Old Quarters with Lucky. We stopped at 7 places for a variety of vegan Vietnamese cuisine. Lucky was super communicative & accommodating (as were the places he took us) and didn’t even bat an eyelash at our request for a vegan tour. Every dish was delicious and we felt so fortunate to be able to visit more of the mom & pop shops vs the primarily vegan places we’d been frequenting (we would have been afraid to try some of the smaller spots that feature mainly meat on the menu on our own due to the language barrier & fear of accidentally consuming meat or fish sauce). Lucky was very personable, funny and is an excellent guide. He told us stories about life in Hanoi and was kind enough to share Vietnamese history and culture with us. It was a huge privilege to spend the time with him & benefit from his knowledge. Thank you so much, lucky. This was truly the highlight of our trip & we would happily take another tour with you in the futureWritten December 2, 2024
- Tmb10640 contributionsPerfect guide for a great tourCherry was gracious with her knowledge of the area and foods we enjoyed. She gave lessons in etiquette, culture, and even how to cross the busy streets. Her follow up is appreciated as well. We can now return to the establishments we enjoyed on our tour. Thanks Cherry.Written December 1, 2024

First of all, I really had a great experience on this tour and I believe this was in very large part due to our amazing guide, Andy. He was very knowledgeable about the food and the city and taught us a bit about the history of Vietnam.
I've traveled around Asia quite a bit and have lived in Mexico, so while some people may be slightly turned off by the standards of cleanliness or seating options in some of the restaurants, what I experienced on the tour seemed mostly pretty standard. I think the places that were chosen were great and probably well-known for what they serve and I never felt anything was unclean or a health hazard.
Some other posts have pointed out a couple things that I'll repeat as they're worth the organizer considering in order to improve the tour in the future.
1. There are a number of tour restaurants the guide chooses from but it wouldn't be too hard to provide a list of food that will be sampled (take pictures and show those particular places to be visited on that day's tour). It'll definitely help those on the tour to budget their appetites and maybe ask for a bit more if there's something they really love.
2. Someone wrote in a previous review: "For the price of this tour, I would have appreciated the option of not splitting almost everything with my partner. Street food is really cheap in Vietnam. We ate about $5 US worth of food on this tour." I would tend to agree with this comment. We were presented with reasonable portions for a food tour and although I'm sure we could have requested more it would have made me feel a bit awkward to do so in front of the other customers. We were not told by the guide that this may have been an option until dessert time when someone in the group jokingly said "I want another" and Andy, our guide immediately said" ok...I'll go get another for you" but she said "no no I'm fine, just joking".
I definitely could have eaten more of the delicious banh cuon and a whole banh mi sandwich as opposed to the half I was given (and another glass of beer!) Street food is cheap and the price doesn't really add up for what we ate. On my food tour in Phuket a few weeks back there was always more food than we could finish so no awkwardness in helping yourself. With the coronavirus scare happening these days people may be reluctant to share from a common plate but let us know from the start if it's an option to ask for a bit more or not.
Apart from that, I left with a pretty full belly and was very satisfied overall. Thanks again Andy, you were great!

We had a wonderful time on the food tour with Minnie. She accommodated a group change when we let her know that friends we intended to meet had ended up with a different guide, and also accommodated my no-cilantro and my friend's no-beef/pork restrictions. Everything that we had was delicious. Minnie did a great job of explaining everything to us and even bought us each two beers when we explained we would prefer that to one beer and one soft drink. I would absolutely recommend this tour, and Minnie to anyone who wants to learn about core Vietnamese foods and try some delicious ones!

Hands down I would recommend this tour as a way to easily explore the food scene in Hanoi. If you are intimidated by the language barrier and apprehensive about trying the local food then this tour will be perfect for you. Not only did we learn about the local cuisine but our guide Kelly helped us get settled and comfortable with Hanoi in general and how to navigate the city.
Kelly was awesome and very helpful when we asked questions about the food and helped out with our non-food related questions as well. There was even a point where we told her we had previously tried food that was planned for the tour and she took us to try different things on the fly which was really appreciated!
Food tried below:
1. Bánh cuốn: steamed rice pancake (14 Bao Khanh)
2. Nộm đu đủ: green papaya salad with beef (23 Ho Hoan Kiem)
3. Phở gà trộn: dried chicken noodle (9 Ly Thai To)
4. Nem rán: fried spring roll (21 Hang Be)
5. Bún chả: rice noodle and grilled pork (12 Dinh Liet)
6. Bánh mì: Vietnamese sandwich (14 Hang Buom)
7. Nem lụi: grilled pork with lemon grass (Net Hue, 72 Nguyen Huu Huan)
8. Kem xôi: sticky rice with coconut ice cream (95 Hang Bac)\
Don't skip on this if you have a free evening or afternoon and want to eat some awesome food!

This tour was well worth the money, both the food and the tour guide were amazing. Andy was very knowledgeable about the country and city’s history and culture. The food was fantastic and I plan to go back for more! I would recommend this tour to anyone coming to Hanoi who wants to experience authentic cuisine and learn more about the city from a local. I can’t think of anything I would change, thanks Andy!

Kelly took us on a food tour through the ancient town of Hanoi. We walked the streets to different vendors/establishments that specialized in particular cuisines to sample all the amazing Vietnamese food on offer. Kelly first asked us if there was anything in particular we would like to try - I mentioned I was very keen to sample Cat fish (Chả cá Hà Nội) and also snails. Kelly took us to a well known Cha Ca restaurant and the food and experience was sensational. The fish was cooked at our table and the food tasted absolutely incredible. We ran out of time to get snails, but she emailed me that evening sending me her top pick. We were extremely impressed with Kelly’s food knowledge and would definitely recommend family and friends to join the same tour.

Last night we had an amazing hosted by Chris. We had been in Hanoi a few days now so had already tried a few dishes ourselves but Chris rose to the challenge and showed us even more wonderful dishes we were yet to try! He was funny, informative and great at giving everyone in the group something they’d love. Would 100% recommend Chris to everyone

We had our tour with Jenny who's very sweet and engaging. She took us to eight different food places, bought us beers, and shared stories about herself and her family. We learned so much about the food in Vietnam and life in Vietnam. Was a fantastic experience and I would recommend for everyone to do

Kelly met us at our Hotel buzzing with energy, excited to show us the best street food Vietnam had to offer. Along the way we learned about the language, culture and lifestyle of local Vietnamese.
It was clear Kelly had a good feel for what would work best on the night depending on how hot it was, time of year and dietary requirements but also making sure that everyone was trying something new and avoiding places if guests had already experienced a meal.
There were many places that on our own we would never have picked to eat at, but thanks to Kelly we now have some fantastic recommendations for ourselves, friends and family.
Perfect way to start our adventure in Hanoi! Thanks!

Going on this tour was one of my favorite things to do in Hanoi. Everything went above my expectations, from the pick-up from my hostel to the guide herself, Minnie, who was so kind the entire time. She took us on a very complete tour, including desserts, according to our needs and desires. The food was delicious, the company was great... an absolute must-do in Hanoi!

Could I join a tour late? I arrive back at my hotel from HaLong Bay at 20:00, but would still like to join a night tour. Possible?
Written January 17, 2020
If this is the only way to go on a street food tour then I would suggest you join up with the group. Your tour guide should be able to tell you where they are - I think we went to 6 places so you would get at least 4 in!

I thought I had made a reservation yesterday to join your small group Hanoi street food tour on January 9 at 11:30. I provided my credit car information, etc. but never received an email confirmation. If you already have my reservation on file, please send me an email confirmation. If you do not have a reservation in my name, please let me know so that I can make a reservation.

Hi, If our flight gets in at 4pm - would we have enough time to make it to the 6pm tour?
Written November 4, 2019
It’s a close call. If moon and stars align and you have smooth sailing after arrival, it could work. Traffic is a big deal, it’s not the distance. Do it the next day and you won’t have to worry about it.

Is this suitable for vegetarians please? Thank you 😀
Written October 28, 2019
Yes! Though I’m not personally a vegetarian, one of the people in our group was. Our tour guide was SO attentive to providing not just vegetarian but vegan and allergy friendly alternatives that didn’t skip on flavor. Just make sure to mention your dietary restrictions at the beginning of the tour. Hope that helps!
