Begin with pickup in your Sapa hotel, then travel to a trailhead near Thanh Kim. Follow the footpaths of Silver Stone Mount, earning views of deep valleys and stepped rice paddy terraces. At noon, you’ll arrive in Lech, a small, traditional village that’s home to Red Dao people—their typical garb of black, heavily embroidered clothing, red headdresses, and heavy silver jewelry is among the most distinctive of Thailand’s minority peoples.
Explore the village with your guide, learning about daily life and traditions in a Red Dao community, then visit a local home for lunch.
After lunch, continue walking to a second Red Dao village. If visiting on a school day, you may meet children at the village’s schools, many of whom come from Red Dao or H’mong communities. From this village, follow hill trails up to the main road, passing viewpoints that look out towards the Muong Bo River, mountain peaks, and rice terraces. At the main road, meet a vehicle for the return trip to Sapa.
