- Kevin T00Explored a caveThe tour was well organised. My wife and I visited the Ba Be national park. There were some itinerary changes due to the weather but totally understandable. The cave exploration was exciting to say the least and it was an experience of a lifetime. Giang was a great tour guide. A few things I would suggest would be to give more information about the itinerary. We needed to trek about 3km to the cave entrance and it was more treacherous than the cave itself. It would be nice to have been told so we would be a bit more prepared.
- zefkilis g00BaBe lake - Ban Gioc waterfalls- SoloIt was a very good experience I had while visiting ba be lake and ban Gioc waterfalls. Everything were very well organised and our guide Mike made sure to cover as much as possible. Spent time at an excellent home stay by the lake as well as at a very nice one in an isolated village.
- Quest5392129742100Interesting trip, knowledgeable guide, fun tourGreat trip around Hanoi to interesting Vietnam cultural destinations. Out guide was very social, knowledgeable and entertaining
- Margareta S00Very good guide in HanoiWe had a very nice, interesting and enthusiastic guide in Hanoi on Nov 12. He was very informative and took good care of the group.
- fr0saa00Ba be lake and Ban Gioc tourVery friendly staff, helpful, patient, knowledgeable. Loved Ba be lake and especially Jungle home stay . It was perfect
- JoezaNZ00Fantastic Northern VietnamReally enjoyable trip with the highlights being Ban Gioc Waterfall and then the home stay at Ba Be Lake. Our tour guide Tuan and driver Mr Bao were excellent and always ready to help or offer a smile. Do be prepared for a lot of winding roads on this tour but with plenty of stops to break it all up. We totally enjoyed being with just a small group of 5 and getting to know the others along the journey. The scenery in the mountains is fantastic and really shows off another side of Vietnam.
- L2297XXmarkw00Wonderful ExperienceWe had a good time. The scenery in this area is beautiful, so took tons of photos and videos. Plenty of fields surrounded by Ha Long Bay style rock formations. The waterfall was impressive, the lake tour gorgeous. Homestays were comfortable and accomodating and the food tasty and ample. Our guide Cu spoke excellent English and was quite knowledgeable. The highlight was our stay at Ba Be lake homestay the second night. I only wish we had more time.
- Happiness1369458022700Mr. Linhs adventures is the best way to experience VietnamA trip with Mr. Linhs adventures is a great experience. Helen helped us wonderful with booking the trip, our Guide Mr. Long was an excellent informative Tourguide with a great sense of humour and Mr. Long was a driver who always kept us feeling save. We are very happy to have chosen Mr. Linhs adventures. All the staff we got to know at Mr. Linhs adventures makes you feel very welcome in Vietnam. Thanks a lot to all of you who made our trip unforgetable. Elfriede and Gerda
- I3573SRstevem00Three day tourJust finished the three day tour to ba be lake and ban coc waterfalls. Alot of travelling in the bus , but well worth it. Both home stays were great and our guild and driver we're excellent!
- Katie A00Incredible Trekking in North VietnamWe had an incredible 5 days trekking through the mountains and rice fields in Vietnam’s north. The scenery was spectacular! Our guide Sonny was really knowledgeable and helpful. Most of all we loved how quiet and tourist free the trails were! All of the accomodation was fantastic- a mix of home-stays and hotels. Highly recommend!
- 256rajvinderb00This tour company are fabulousI couldn’t recommend this tour enough, Helen who works for the company was amazing. Her infinite patience and help to soothe anxieties faced when traveling with two children was incredible. The tour was amazing and we felt safe and confident with our drivers. The homestays were excellent and everyone was kind and friendly. I was worried about the night bus but it was great and Helen helped with ensuring everything ran smoothly. The views, people and the experience were magical. Thank you
- R9537FIjamien00Fantastic North and Central Vietnam travel planHelen at Mr Linh’s adventure tours arranged the most amazing custom trip for me and my daughter - it combined some group trips (to Ninh Binh), and private trekking guides (in Cat Ba park and My Son) and was the perfect way to see the north and central part of Vietnam. Everything was perfect! Thank you Helen!
- 686dorotap00Ba Be lake and Ban Gioc waterfallWe enjoyed the tour with Mr Linh's Adventures. The sceneries were really nice and the tour guide felt really passionate about his country. The tour is a far drive from Hanoi, which makes it less commercial than one day trips around Hanoi. The area maintains its originality as it is not packed with tourists.
- isabellecG9504FB00Not what I expectedThe ‘Adventure’ was 30 hours on a bus. This might hav been good if it was 2 separate shorter tours and if it didn’t include: - so much time on bus - unethical village visits. This was poverty porn and we clearly weren’t wanted there - at the home stay some children gave us the finger and told us to ‘go away’ - got stomach worms from the food or the water - the boat on the lake also unfortunately broke and the poor driver had to spend 30mins fixing it with a hammer in the heat The guide knows the places to stop for 5mins to get pics though. Just not the trip for me.
- divyanid202300Unique experience, excellent guides!I was able to join two of the tours offered from Hanoi and back and was completely mesmerized by the landscapes outside of the city. The team was punctual, supportive, communicative and the facilities offered were clean and adequate. The diverse variety of tours offered are incredibly attractive, along with the fantastic activities that are a part of the packages. I look forward to coming back to see parts of the country that I missed, especially with this crew :)

We were collected punctually from our hotel in Hanoi and transported by mini-bus to the Ba Be National Park - a 5hr drive. Along the way our guide for the trip began to pass on his knowledge of Vietnam history, culture, commerce, geography etc. He was very engaging and friendly and continually passed on snippets of information throughout our 3 days with him. His English vocabulary was excellent although it did take us a little while to tune in to his pronunciation. We stopped for lunch half way and the guide joined us to explain the many traditional dishes we were brought. The surroundings for lunch were basic but the food was delicious. We stayed at Mr Linh's homestay, more of a small hotel really than a true family home, but clean, comfortable and very welcoming. Our main activities were a 15k forest Trek, visiting local family homes in the mountains, then a boat trip up Ba Be Lake to Puong Cave. All very well organised and everyone we met so happy and welcoming. We had a thoroughly immersive experience and after returning to Hanoi our guide met us again in the evening to enjoy a few beers and a meal with us - a very kind gesture.

An amazing, unspoiled, quiet, beautiful place well worth the visit. Away from the crowds.
We spent our first week in the in Hoi An and Hue which was great but manic. So much going on, so busy. Ba Be National park was the opposite, so quiet and unspoiled. A beautiful place and not touristy.
We went with Mr Linh’s Adventures. With our guide Loy and driver Mr Long. They were amazing and totally added to the experience and could not do enough to make it the best experience. Adjusting things to suit us personally to get the most from the experience. I’m not sure how you could do this without a guide and couldn’t recommend these two enough.
We had a real feel what real life is like in this part of rural North Vietnam. It’s not spoiled by hoards of tourists and I felt that if we weren’t their life would just be going on regardless.
My wife organised the trip from our home in the UK and it couldn’t have gone smoother. Even us being delayed by a missed overnight train in Vietnam was not a problem and smoothly handled by the team at Mr Linh’s
Thanks

We are a family of four with two teenagers and we thoroughly enjoyed Mr Linh's two night tour of Ba Be Lake. Loi, our fantastic guide collected us from our hotel in Hanoi and we had an easy journey to Be Be Lake in the very clean and comfortable, air conditioned minibus through many fascinating villages and dramatic scenery. There had been a lot of rain so we were met by boat at the edge of the lake and ferried across to the amazing homestay which is in a stunning location, very comfortable and clean with lovely cool bedrooms and great view over the lake from the balcony - it felt very luxurious for a homestay!
Our guide Loi was absolutely superb and really well informed about the local area, flora and fauna and cultures. He is considerate and caring and he did everything he could to make our stay as a family as enjoyable as possible, he adapted the itinerary to the weather so we did some cycling, waving at locals fishing and passing rice farmers and water buffalo, walking along trails by the lake, kayaking and we saw amazing caves and a waterfall. We spent lots of time out on the lake in the wonderful boat including a lovely swim in the middle of the lake one morning when we seemed to be the only people out on the water. We enjoyed some rock jumping too!
The food throughout was delicious, plentiful and freshly prepared - it was among the best we've had during our entire trip - and all the team at the homestay were very helpful, friendly and caring.
We would definitely recommend this trip for families, it felt very un-touristy and relaxed but we really felt like we saw and did a huge amount over the three days. Thank you.

We have just returned from a tour of North and Central Vietnam which included a hugely memorable trip to Ba Be Lake made by the organisation of our guide, Minh, ably helped by Nam our driver. From the pick up in Hanoi, through the stop at Minh's home city of Thai Nguyen, to the cycling, walking, swimming, kayaking and boat trips in Ba Be and the stay at Mr Linh's Homestay - Minh was informed, helpful and entertaining and along with Nam was also great company. The only word of warning is that Mr Linh's rice wine really does give you wings! We have had a fabulous 16 day trip and Minh and Nam and Mr Linh's adventures are an important part of the great memories we have brought home with us.

This is our fourth trip to Vietnam over the past 15 yrs and our first visit to Ba Be National park. We went to Sapa and found it had been discovered. In our opinion Ba Be is a better destination than Sapa. it rained the second day of our tour however it did not stop us from having a great day. Most of the time we were under cover.
The meals were all of a high standard and the accommodation was basic however it was clean and comfortable.
The tour guide Linh was fantastic he was knowledgeable and was very tentative for the three days, We highly recommend Linh,
Our driver was a professional at all times and he was able to make us feel safe in some very tight sections of the roadway.
We are pleased that we made the trip.

Dear Flashpacker55,
I’m very glad to know that you’re satisfied with this trip 3 days in Ba Be National Park. The boat trip to visit caves, waterfalls and minority villages is certainly a wonderful experience maybe travelers must to have when they come to Vietnam you know. And Ba Be National Park is surely an ideal destination for anyone having a great passion in discovering the authentic and unique nature. Your comment about Sapa is right, Sapa is more touristy than Ba Be, however, Sapa is also an attractive place to experience. Coming to Sapa, you have a chance to visit the colourful and exciting markets, a fantastic place to meet the local people and find out about their cultures and traditional crafts.
After all, we feel very happy and thankful for your nice review.
Look forward to your new adventures, and don’t forget to share them with us.
Best Regards,
Mr Linh’s Adventures team

Our guide Billy picked us up at our hotel at the expected time and entertained us on the drive to Ba Be with many interesting facts and stories about Vietnam and his own experiences. He was always great fun and knew a lot about local culture, geology, fauna and flora. On our 3 day and 2 night stay in Ba Be we visited two interesting caves, did a wonderful trek to hidden tribal villages of the Hmong and Tay people, had the opportunity to swim and kayak in the lake and enjoyed really good food at Mr Linh’s homestay. Mr Linh senior himself was there too and had great fun teaching us Vietnamese drinking rhymes over a glass of rice wine. The boat tour on the last day on the lake and the river was particularly awesome. The accommodation was clean. They even had WiFi (good enough to stream). We danced in the rain, enjoyed amazing views on the mountains, made friends with local dogs that followed us all day and marveled at a thousand bats in the caves. In short: The tour surpassed our expectations. We enjoyed it a lot.

The three-day experience out at Ba Be was a little expensive, but given that we were pampered, the only customers in the van, among very few people at the quiet home stay at Ba Be Lake, and got to bike and hang out with the charming Mike (Minh Tu?), it was more than worth it. Compliments to Mr. Khung for safe driving, over 500 kilometers. Compliments to the homestay managers for good food and just the right amount of service — affable, but not in your face too much.
Ba Be is a placid lake with great bird life, and idyllic rice paddies and villages. Development does seem to be increasing, with many new tourist structures going up. There are almost too many motor boats on the water. Enjoy while it lasts. Two nights was plenty for my husband, but I’d gladly idle away a week or more there, exploring caves and kayaking on the lake.

Well organised, everything was on time and happened as per schedule, great hospitality, great common areas at the homestay, great food and location, very peaceful and a great break from the city life in Hanoi. The tour guide Giang and driver were really good. Giang looked after us really well.
The local guide we had during our 15km hike was super knowledgeable and lovely and we had a great day out in the jungle with him.
We definitely recommend it if you want to discover some of the wilderness of North Vietnam and learn about the great culture of this place

Good
- food was excellent (both for meat lovers and vegetarians)
- phenomenally beautiful and diverse landscapes
- no waiting time for attractions and activities
- tour group size was perfect (12 adults, 2 children)
- a lot of opportunities for pictures
Tips for improvement
- tour guide was very attentive but his english was at times hard to understand
- the day felt rushed. Very tight timetable with no wriggle room (Ban Gioc waterfalls was the exception, a lot of time to enjoy and take plenty of pictures)
- stops to take pictures felt very rushed (out-take pictures-in- go!)

Hi Please can you tell me if this trip would be suitable for an 11 and 13year old?
Simon W
Newport, UK22 contributions
Hi. Really sorry for the VERY late response but only just seen it. For what it’s worth. I would say it is suitable for the 11 and 13 year olds (that’s how old ours were). The guides would make sure, and adjust the activities to suit ability, heat etc. Heat is a huge factor as it sapps your energy. But the vehicle they use has aircon, the home stays they use have aircon. Keep you supplied with water and plenty of dips in the water. Couldn’t recommend it enough. Hope you have a good time in Vietnam. Or had.
Thanks
Simon
