The day was filled with wonderful information on Chiang Mai's history, lovely people and breath-taking views. The tour went all day, but was worth every cent. Lunch provided was delicious and our guide, Katie, was full of information. The waterfalls were just magnificent, and the King and Queen Pagodas were simply amazing. I wish we had more time at the Karen village, but it was great to go and hear about the history and culture. The market afterwards had quite a bit of fresh fruit, dried fruit, nuts, etc. if you felt peckish or wanted to stock up on snacks for the rest of your trip.
Highly recommend for people who have a day to spare in Chiang Mai.

Our private tour was with Nancy. Let me start by saying that we felt like she was a long time friend. We honestly did not know that we booked a fully private tour. Spend the extra few dollars and go private!! To our surprise and enjoyment Nancy met us at the hotel with a very luxurious van. She was prepared for anything we may have needed during the day. Our driver Mr. A was professional and very willing to accommodate our curiosities when we wanted to make unplanned stops. We were spoiled all day long and because it was private we were able to do anything we wanted at our own pace. It was a dream. I scored extra love from my wife because i pretended i knew it was private all along. And i was treating her to a special day. Hahha.

Nancy lead us on a wonderful tour of the mountain peak and alpine forest walk. She then took us to the Temples of the King and Queen. We enjoyed a stroll through flower gardens that were truly fit for royalty. Nancy had so much information to share and loved it when we had questions of our own. At the start of the tour we had a conversation about local food and when it was time for lunch she surprised us by having a few of our favorite dishes prepared and already waiting for us at a private table.

Following lunch was a walk in the local market for produce and lots of samples. We normally avoid trying weird things at the markets but with Nancy guiding us and answering more questions we had a blast. The next part of the day was a 3km hike down to the Karen tribe village for coffee. Our tour guide “thank you crazy man” (there is a joke there about pronouncing local words wrong, which you will understand after the hike), was a stunning downhill walk past 3 waterfalls. Our hike leader was one of the funniest people we have met on our 3 month journey. Additionally he knew every single plant and tree we passed along with their medicinal properties. The simple hike lasted 2 hours because of how much fun we were having and the jokes he told us.

Just when we thought the day was over we had the local coffee and experienced the Karen village life. Nancy had another even more beautiful waterfall to share with us and we were so tired we almost didn’t go. Save the best for last of course and it was worth it. My wife and i had a wonderful nap on the fully reclining seats in the luxury van on the way home. Nancy was kind enough to take us to another location to be dropped off that was not our hotel. We wanted to have dinner at a special place we had in mind and she saved us a tuk tuk ride.

We missed her immediately upon leaving and felt like we were all family for the day. We will remember this tour forever. Thank you Nancy and company for the experience of a lifetime!!!

the temples slowly reveal themselves as you approach from the carpark below, they are stunningly beautiful, at first they seem to be twins , but as you have time to process all the details , they are really different, the colours are so very different than the usual whites and golds, there are wonderful frescoes adorning the panels outside the buildings and the inside is like stepping into a museum quality art gallery.
and yet once inside , it is the atmosphere that almost overwhelms, it was a very emotional experience, i think what i am trying to say is that it was my first genuine religious experience. (and yet i am not a religious person).
safe to say, i love this place and i will return .

Our small group of four, Americans from Minnesota and Virginia and a German woman, got a quick, fun taste of mountainous Thailand during our 8-hour excursion out of Chiang Mai.
It’s more a sampling of the Doi Inthanon National Park area than a “trek”. About half the time is spent driving in an air-conditional shuttle bus to and from the park region, with about half a dozen quick stops and jaunts.
Our very energetic and eager-to-please guide “Bird” took us to:
- The magnificent royal pagodas, with a Buddha with fine mosaics in the king’s pagoda, and nice gardens all about
- Coffee tasting at a Karen village, and a quick intro to the local flora
- A stunning waterfall
- A market at a Hmong village. Something of a tourist trap, but we were taken to a stall that offered reasonable prices for good berry wine.
- A delicious and filling lunch at a local restaurant, in a scenic, rice-growing region
- A brief walk along a nature trail in the park, with a stop at Thailand’s highest point of elevation
No real physical exertion.
The bus picks you up at your hotel.
It is customary to tip the guide.
Bring warm clothing; there was frost on the car windows when we went. Your ears may pop during the drive into the uplands.
For about $67, it was a good intro, with an overachieving guide, to more serious touring and trekking in the region.

From start to drop off the tour was perfect. Lovely van and the driver was very good. Our tour guide Nue was so lovely and bubbly. Included everyone and made the day. Trip to the Karen Hill tribe was so interesting to see them make coffee and cloths. Really friendly people. Waterfalls we were taken to were stunning and the lunch was spot on. Not one bad thing to say about the trip.
Thanks for a great day!

Okay, so we didn't have a good experience on this private tour but I'm going to start with the good.

Positive:
Our guide, Mr. A, was enthusiastic and friendly
Our guide was flexible when we asked to change one of the spots
The car was clean and new

Negative:
- Our guide's English was appalling. I'm a native English speaker who has worked as an ESL teacher in the past. I've also lived in Asia for close to a decade, so I'm used to bad English accents and grammatical errors. Even despite all this I was only able to understand about 50% of what he said. My poor wife, whose English is not great, had to ask me to translate everything he said, and ended up not even bothering to ask me anymore as we both kind of stopped caring.
- Our guide burped very audibly all the time. The first couple of times I didn't think much of it, but it was big, audible burps about every 2 - 5 minutes. It was off-putting and made us feel a bit embarrassed and uncomfortable.
- We were asked to take photos on his phone in front of random signs and we didn't understand why. We complied but I felt like we were being photographed for advertisement purposes even though we'd spend all this money. After several times my wife became a bit annoyed. We wanted to enjoy our tour, not feel like promotional tools.
- After we asked if we could change one of the venues from a waterfall to a mountain (great of them to change), the guide told us this would be fine but it might make us a bit late for lunch. I asked what was meant by late, and he told me around 1 pm - 1.30 pm. Okay, no problem! He then rushed us through all of the morning activities, saying we had to hurry up so we could get lunch. We were marched to the mountain we went to see in a huge rush, during which time he kept putting his hands on my lower back and shoulders which made me quite uncomfortable. I tried to shake him off doing this because I didn't want to be confrontational. He didn't get the picture. In the end, we ate lunch at 3 pm. 2 hours later than we were told the delay would be.
- After all this mad rushing and 2-hour-delayed lunch, we went to a small coffee plantation for about 25 minutes then went back to the city - tour done! So all of the rushing, the incredibly delayed lunch, was all for 1 25-minute minor part of the tour. The tour was not cheap, and by lunch my wife and I basically stopped caring about what we were being told (a large part of which we couldn't understand anyway) because we felt stressed out by the pace and were not enjoying the day.

Honestly, this guide's English is not of a standard to run tours. That's the main gripe, but his lack of organisational ability and penchant for openly belching all the time were also pretty grim. Do not recommend.

This has been the best city touring experience I have ever had. We got to see things other tours never would, and were taken to areas no one would see or experience. I am so grateful for this experience, and I made some new friends, too!

I wish I could give this more than 5 stars! EXCELLENT. Plus, they pick you up at your hotel!

I booked this tour as a single mom with two children, ages 2 and 5. We enjoyed the tour quite a bit. Our guide was HUA. She did a wonderful job and her English was excellent. She was patient with my babies as we were a bit slower getting up hills, and back to the van. The day was packed full. We started at the waterfalls which were amazing. It was sunny so there were rainbows over the waterfalls which was magical. We visited a market, a village, a second waterfall, had a wonderful traditional Thai lunch, walked through an amazing jungle with colors I have never seen before in my life, and then ended the day at the Pagodas. The Pagodas were beautiful. Absolutely stunning. If I had my choice, I would have taken a private tour but because there were only 3 of us, we were unable to book a private car. I wished we had more time to explore on our own schedule. I would have spent a large portion of my day visiting the tribes. I was fascinated by the village life. But overall, it was really a wonderful day. I highly recommend the tour.

Such a beautiful forest, trail is easy to do. Our guide is very knowledgeable and stayed with us at all times explaining everything patiently. Although it rained and the pagodas couldn’t be seen clearly, it was still overall a very good trip. Precious memories. A good tour operator that went above and beyond. Highly recommended. I thoroughly enjoyed my day.

Had an amazing full day tour with Nue who was always happy to answer all our questions - such a knowledgeable and inspirational woman! Had a great hike to the waterfall, visited one of the prettiest temples of Chiang Mai province and also had a great meal. Well planned itinerary all round. We were so happy about the entire day, ending with some good wine tasting at the Mong market. Highly recommend! Worth every penny! :) Thank you again Nue, we will be back! :)
