- Camper4377490 contributionsAmazing fun tourAmazing tour, we done the 7 hours hike and mountain bike tour. the tour guide( called A) was so good and he ‘s very experience. He was very patience and given us plenty of time to enjoy the hike. He pointed out the history of the track and join in the fun. We enjoyed very much.Written October 2, 2024
- HarrietJ1310 contributionsA rewarding day out in natureMy partner and I had a great day out up in the mountainous jungle with our lovely guide Tui. We were picked up from our hotel in the morning, signed in at the company office where we chose our route for the day and then were driven out to where we began our hike. Due to the rainfall the night before we did an alternative route but it was still enriching. Tui spoke to us about the native trees and plants and he kindly offered to take photos along the way. There are some steep and muddy parts of this trek, which require some stamina and a decent level of fitness. After a few hours we made it to the village (due to the time of the year the summit was closed) and then to a nearby restaurant for a local lunch. We enjoyed seeing the temples, soaking in nature and learning more about Thai culture. This was a great out of the city excursion and Tui was a fabulous guide!Written September 18, 2024
- YasminEddie_10 contributionsUnbelievable Experience 10/10Wow, this trip was fantastic. So well organised and the guides were super friendly. I booked an evening Kayak session and although it was only me, it couldn’t have been any better. I was picked up from my hostel by the lovely Rin (driver) and Jane (Guide). They were very welcoming and we had some good chats before starting our kayaking. The kayaks were comfortable and the river Ping was easy to row on. This activity is suitable for beginners as I had only ever done stand up paddle boarding and I found it pretty easy. Jane was super knowledgeable about the history and culture of Chiang Mai, I learned a lot on this activity. As the sun started to set, the lights became so beautiful to row past. We waved by people enjoying their boat cruise or dinner in passing restaurants. It was a lovely experience. Jane had the most infectious personality, we were even singing songs as we rowed! At the end, Rin was awaiting us to help disembark the kayak and return me safely to my hostel. I can’t thank Jane and Rin enough for a wonderful experience in Chiang Mai.Written July 28, 2024
- M7433JQsusanw0 contributionsTake the Adventure Route! My daughters & I had an awesome day with our guide A! It was only the 3 of us, so we were lucky to have him all to ourselves! Unfortunately the hike to the highest summit is closed right now, but we still hiked 2.5 miles and A said the elevation gain is about 800 meters. Very steep in sections! We brought along temple appropriate clothing (covered legs & shoulders) and put those on over hiking clothes along the way so we could visit the 2 temples. (And put them right back in our backpacks after!) A also took us to a village where we enjoyed local coffee and guided us on another hiking trail to a waterfall. Highly recommend!Written May 29, 2024
- I6999SVandyg0 contributionsAbsolutely amazing!!!After booking I was immediately informed by the owner (Adon) that there will be a slight change to the route which was accepted. I was picked from my hotel by A (tour guide)and Rin (driver)really cool and welcoming guys. Cycling with A was amazing, it was cycling with a mate, we had so much fun and laughter that it didn’t seem like a tour. A’s friendly demeanour, character and knowledge are simply priceless. Overall, I’m glad I booked Chiang mai mountain biking and kayaking. Highly recommended!Written April 19, 2024
- seancK8044KH0 contributionsFun day outGreat opportunity to try proper downhill MTB. Definitely not for the faint of heart as its a steep and bumpy ride. Fun day out all round. Would be better if there were larger option bikes available; they all seemed to be M size so it was difficult to pedal uphill on the few occasions that was needed.Written April 18, 2024
- VIPVilla0 contributionsA bit boringPick up was as planned. The kayak trip itself is fairly boring, very little to see along the way. For an inexperienced kayaker this would be quite hard, it is over 1 hour long.Written March 26, 2024
- L468YFsandyk0 contributionsDon’t miss this tour!Great tour of DOI Mountain temples with a fantastic mountain bike descent on the road from the top… at least 20 minutes (15 km). Lunch of Pad Thai was good, too!Written March 9, 2024
- jsurkan0 contributionsGreat ride in Chiang Mai.I had a fantastic day of riding with Bas-definitely was a challenge, but Bas was a capable and knowledgeable guide, and we had a blast! Although you are descending from a mountaintop, there are certainly some tough climbs as well. We had several short stops to admire the scenery and look at the foliage, but there was several hours of riding. We enjoyed a lakeside lunch, and then rode the 15kms into town and back to the shop.Written February 26, 2024
- Storyteller3006050 contributionsDownhill adventureThis was a fun day if you can ride a mountain bike on gravel trails. It's mostly downhill except for one 400m significant uphill. Bike is good and safety gear was adequate. Lunch good, bring your own electrolyte drink and snacks for energy.Written February 18, 2024
- Flyer414463340100 contributionsBest tour I have done in Chiang MaiIt was one of the best fun things I have done in the 3 months I have been traveling. The hike was awesome, but there were times when it got hard and had to use hands to climb, but it felt great at the finish line. The guides ( B, aka Basketball, and Tony) were awesome. We were there to help or stop whenever we needed rest or help. Lunch was dope, and the best part was the biking back down. Everyone was so helpful and encouraging that this made my whole trip in Chiang Mai worth a while.Written February 13, 2024
- gordv5880 contributionsLoved it!I happily recommend this trip. First we went to tour a large cave followed by lunch. Then we drove to the start of the kayak trip down the Ping river for a couple of hours. I loved just drifting in the kayak watching the birds and forest pass by. Staff was great.Written February 2, 2024
- marceb0670 contributionsCycling tour of Wiang Kum KhanWe love cycling and ancient history, so this was ideal for the two of us whilst on holiday here in Chiang Mai. Our guide from Bike Valley Rides was very knowledgeable and familiar with the local area making our tour both interesting and enjoyable.Written February 2, 2024
- Gitta Z0 contributionsExperience the hill farms and Mountain View, plus great exercise! The guides were very attentive and safety minded for our hike and bike. Water and rest breaks provided and everyone did well. This is an intermediate hike and bumpy my bike ride. Being fit is key. The views of jungle and mountains are wonderful, and our guide had good English and many stories to share.Written February 1, 2024
- michaelbV9995WD0 contributionsGreat day excursion for people in shape.Definitely a big hike. 2200 feet elevation, around 4 miles and some steep loose dirt sections where you likely will use hands to climb up. Nice village at the top. The mountain biking is mainly downhill on a jeep track and safe. The single track at the bottom has some fun sections but not something to take on unless you’ve done steep rutted trails. 4 of 7 in my group walked or fell who tried it. You can stick to the road and have plenty of fun without doing these sections. There was a lady in our group that had knee issues and it was tough for her at times as it was a couple in their late 60s. Very nice guides that spoke good English and information on the park and area.Written January 27, 2024

This was an enjoyable but pretty basic tour. At the start, none of our guides introduced themselves to the group, which didn’t make it feel very welcoming. Our guide also didn’t tell us very much about the caves we visited, aside from a couple of comments on some military history and pointing out some spiders, so it was difficult to put what we were looking at into context. I feel that if the guides aren’t knowledgeable or happy to share information about the caves, it could probably be left off the itinerary without losing much.
What we definitely could have done without were the continual sexist comments from the older male tour guide. While a few jokes here and there can lighten the mood, young women should be able to enjoy activities like this without feeling harassed, and the continuous stream of “jokes” directed exclusively at women in the group didn’t give the impression that the guide cared much for the comfort or safety of their guests. This feeling was then reinforced by the fact that there was no safety briefing or instruction given before we started kayaking. I read an recent review complaining that the briefing was too long, so not sure if they may have over-corrected by not offering one at all.
The younger guides were good with giving instruction and help when needed while on the river though. We really enjoyed the kayaking itself and had a very pleasant paddle along the river. The route was relatively easy and had some lovely views. The hotel pick up and drop off was very smooth and prompt.
I note that other reviewers seemed to have had a good experience with their guides, so maybe we just had an off day. But overall, my impression was that if you’re an experienced paddler and just want to be dropped somewhere you can kayak then this may be the tour for you. However, based on our experience, if you’re looking for something more fun, interactive, and informative, I’d look for another provider.

Seeing the cave was wonderful! The guide explained a lot about the system and why there was a difference in the formations.
But the kayakking was the real highlight there were 3 guides to our group of 10 people and they made sure we knew how to paddle and where to be in the water at all times. Even though it is a bit expensive, its worth it!

It sounds like you had an amazing time exploring both the caves and the river! We're thrilled to hear that the cave guide provided insightful explanations, adding depth to your experience. And it's fantastic that the kayaking guides were attentive and ensured everyone's safety while maximizing the fun. While we understand cost can be a factor, we're delighted to know that you found the experience to be worth every penny. Thank you for sharing your positive feedback, and we look forward to welcoming you back for more adventures in the future!

Jo-Jo our guide was exceptional - he was fun informative and engaging, in the caves he showed us the different forms of geological formations and made it really interesting. He also held a very large spider and by being so calm allowed us to hold it too which seemed incredible. To me a complete arachnophobe.
The kayaking was just right and our guides were bery helpful and involved, I guess some of the comments directed about the young woman on the trip seemed a bit “off” but I genuinely think
It was an attempt to be funny not meaning to be offensive. And certainly not something that would lose a star.
One point the whole day is quite tiring so note that it says a reasonable level of fitness is required - I went with the England over 50’s international football team. And they snoozed all the way home!😯

This was such a fantastic experience! The caving was great fun (would recommend closed-toe shoes) and we saw some incredible rock formations and bats! The kayaking was the real star of this experience - it was amazing and great fun. The guides were extremely helpful and gave good tips as well. 10/10 recommend - the nature we saw during kayaking was breathtaking.

Overall, I enjoyed this tour. It was well organized and easy to communicate with staff- both at the main office before the tour/during briefing as well as during the tour. My favourite part was the kayaking portion whereas the caving was underwhelming. The caving itself was around 1 hour, and my disappointment was not the cave itself but that the guides did not have much knowledge regarding the caves. I asked about specifics of the types of rocks we were seeing, and the only answer I got was something along the lines of “it takes over 50 years to grow 1cm”. The guides were really nice and took pictures, etc, but it wasn’t what I was hoping for- and was largely a self directed tour, looking at the rock formation, instead of an informative tour. I’ve been on other cave tours with guides who had specific information about rock formations, or the cave in particular and stories which happened in the past, so wasn’t overly impressed with caving. However, I thoroughly enjoyed kayaking! The river we went on was very scenic, had a nice slow current so we could enjoy the views, and had a few areas with rapids- which made it more fun/challenging. I would recommend the kayaking 1/2 day portion!

Dear Explorers
I am glad the kayaking was enjoyable. We feel the cave system is worth every minute. With huge caverns, bats hanging from the ceiling, multible rooms connected with comfortable crawl spaces. Over one hr navigating through the inside of a mountain. Limmitless photo oportunities. Definately a top visual and physical experience rather then a sientific musem excursion. Very enjoyable and a great addition to our kayak excursion. This is a winner and must do when visiting Chiang Mai.
Regards
Aidan

We really enjoyed our day kayaking in the Ping river and then exploring the temple in the cave. The instructors were very knowledgeable and friendly.
The lunch was nice and they cater for vegetarians.
I would recommend bring clothes that cover your shoulders and knees for the cave activity as there is a temple in there. For the kayaking a hat and suncream is a must as it gets very hot on the water.

This trip could have been so much better.
First, after a long drive, we visited a cave complex. During the journey the guide said basically nothing. Nothing about the land we were traveling through, nothing about where we were about to visit. When we got to the complex we were led by our guide and some local people with lanterns. The caves were reasonably interesting, but about all the guide did was tell how one rock formation looked like a elephant and another looked like a chicken. He also pointed out bats, spiders and a snake. Nothing at all about the geological history, nothing about anything else.
Next we drive on to lunch. Very uninspiring.
Then on to the river and kayaking. The river was slow, which for us was good, the scenery was nice, after an hour or two it ended.
Would I recommend this tour? No I wouldn’t.
The guides spend little time explaining things—mostly I think because they knew very little, and much of the time they were speaking in languages other than English. Combined with a general lack of personal engagement this made for a pretty sterile group feeling. In a word, it wasn’t much fun.

My main objective was to see the caves, but I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed the kayaking. The guides absolutely make the tour. Our main guide was Jojo, but there were about 4 other guides on the river to help, give directions, and make you laugh. Definitely put on loads of sunscreen on your legs and prepare to get wet! The caves are magical. We were all sleeping on the ride home after our adventurous day.

It's fantastic to hear that you had such a delightful surprise with the kayaking portion of your tour! Jojo and the team seem to have made quite the impression with their guidance and humor. And your advice about sunscreen and getting wet is definitely noted! It sounds like the caves truly left a magical impression, and it's no wonder everyone was snoozing on the way back after such an adventurous day. Here's to more unforgettable experiences in the future!

This tour would easily be a 4 or 5 if not for the superfluous briefs. Once we got on the river it was a great time and the other tour guides were fantastic. The downside is that before we get on the river we had to suffer through not one but two insultingly basic briefs that lasted way too long. I recommend bringing ear plugs so you can nap through the briefs. That would be a better use of your time.

Well, we're glad to hear that once you hit the river, it was smooth paddling! As for the briefs, we'll take the hint and try not to put anyone to sleep next time. Maybe we'll add some soft music or stand-up comedy to keep things lively. Ear plugs might just become our new tour essential! Thanks for the feedback, and we'll work on keeping things brief without putting you to sleep.

Great guides, helpful and friendly! Trip to cave and kayak launch spot in converted pickup truck (covered seating in flatbed for 8, which is standard, esp given how dirty we go). First half was an excellent trip through the famous Chiang Dao cave, which included a few tight passages. Rain/flooding may impact the visit. Local lunch, then a fun kayak trip down the Ping River. Definitely recommend including this full day experience in any Chiang Mai itinerary.

For some reason I cannot read the reviews, they are not showing. I wanted to know if we would pass through very tight spaces when in the cave. I dont mind being underground, but I would have a problem with very tight spaces.

Hello , good question. actually we are in very large caverns with high ceilings, we have bright flash lights , it feels like a surreal out door landscape at night. There are couple of transitions from one cavern too the next which could be considered crawl space, but very short and open. I am 6.4, 300 lbs and get through with no problem . Its awesome never get tired of going into this cave system . Thank you for asking.
