Chiang Mai Street Tour was a perfect way for me to kick off visiting a new city and meeting a solid group. You definitely get your moneys worth and your taste buds will love the overload in the local flavors.

Tee the tour guide was phenomenal. One of the best. Coolest part was he taught us the Thai way of ordering the dishes, and had us practice it over and over to order it confidently with the food vendor. Very great experience overall.

I really enjoyed this street tour. Sunny was fun, professional and well informed, and gave us loads of useful info and Thai language tips as well as getting us to try lots of delicious food. These ranged from Thai classics to local specialties we might not know about or be brave enough to try ourselves. He made a good effort to order plenty of meat-free options for our vegetarian group member.
I've visited Thailand several times so the classics were familiar to me, but most of my group were first time visitors to Thailand so it made good sense to include some of them (and I'm certainly not complaining, so delicious!). But there was plenty of new and different food for me too, and the tour pushed me to be braver around Thai chillies :-)
I definitely recommend this if you are staying in Chiang Mai

The experience from the moment they pick you up till they drop you at the end of trip it’s over the moon experience. Sunny is so experienced and knows very well how to make the customer happy and he is such a big asset for his company and who has smile on his face and a very polite gesture.
Talking about the trip they will make you try zillions of delicious items until you say it’s enough and the markets they take you have a different feeling with an absolute mouth watering aroma which makes you to go extra mile to eat even if you are pretty full. A must do trip in Chiang mai.
Tip: Start to have little bit of everything because tasting even a few will make you full and will have regret not trying the rest that’s how much tasty every item is and of course credit goes to this company.

Given one or 2 other reviews we were a little bit unsure whether this tour would be too basic for us given that we know our Asian food pretty well & have been to other places (eg Malaysia, Indonesia) with similar food markets so we get the gist... However, we found this an excellent introduction to local food markets to where we were staying & we glad we timed it well for our first day of arrival. It really helped build our confidence with using some basic Thai phrases, customs & walking up to order things ourselves, plus it introduced us to some foods we hadn't tried before nor probably wouldn't have chosen for ourselves. Our guide was so friendly & knowledgeable & we loved that it was a really small group as it turned out to be just our family. We struggled to eat all the food offered (which was all delicious) & came away totally stuffed, but it really helped us feel that we'd found our feet & set us off to a good start on our first day away. Thank you!

Our guide (can't remember his name) picked us up in his comfortable 4 wheel drive, then picked up others before heading to the markets. We went through the closed market and he explained how it works, then to the first street market outside. He got us little tables and stools to sit at and ordered the foods which we all tasted while he explained why they are Thai and typical in Chiang Mai. We moved along to try some whiskey, then a couple of other stalls before returning to the car and going to the second market. Each time we sat in a makeshift spot with chairs or a table or stools behind the stalls. I think it took a couple of hours. The guide was very good, friendly, knowledgeable, and I felt like it was a very worthwhile tour and very good value. My wife and I are mid sixties from Australia, we were with an American guy similar age and his wife and adult daughter plus a 30yr old American engineer. We had nothing in common at first, but the nature of the tour meant that we all got along well. We were all full to the brim at the end so don't eat anything before the tour. As the dishes were brought to us we got the history behind them and found out more about Thailand and the people. I would recommend this at the beginning of any holiday there to familiarise with the food options and learn about the local culture.

This street food tour was great for our first night in Chiang Mai! There were only 6 of us and our guide drove us around to a few great street food spots in the city. He would order a variety of dishes for us to sample, and helped us learn how to order ourselves and how to eat each type of dish. Everything was delicious and it was definitely a great way to be introduced to local Thai cuisine. I highly recommend it to anyone interested in trying new foods!

Albeit a brief backpacking tour, doing it with an 18 month old child is hard work. We had never booked on to a guided tour before but after the chaos of Bangkok with a toddler, we decided to book on to the night market tour with Jay when we got to Chiang Mai.
We’d spent most of a week passing our child between us while eating, or stopping him running round restaurants because it was all so exciting. I hadn’t actually eaten hot food in the best part of a week.

Not only did Jay introduce us to some fantastic food in Chiang Mai, he helped to entertain our little one while we ate, took him round the market, introduced him to people and gave him some experiences that very few British children will ever experience. We have some wonderful photos and amazing memories that we won’t ever forget. We will definitely be back at some point in the future. Thank you Jay, you’re the best.

So glad that we did this tour and that Coco Loco was our guide. We learned Thai phrases, how to order and more. Absolutely fascinating & delicious - Coco Loco knew many good spots and how to navigate them - and taught us to do the same. He was also able to help tailor for food/vegetarian preferences. The food was all amazing as was the experience and energy of the night markets. As others have mentioned, come hungry and do pace yourself as there is SO much yummy food - we could not finish it all. We enjoyed the experience so much and learned enough that we came back on our own to enjoy the night markets again. We could not have done it without Coco Loco's guidance, thank you. HIGHLY recommended, a must do!

My fiancé and I have traveled to markets and food stalls on our own, and the quality has been hit-or-miss. With our guides, everything we tasted on our food tour was a hit! Our main guide Sonny was very knowledgeable about food history, preparation, and flavors. When it rained during our tour, our guides made sure we were eating our delicious nibbles under cover. A highlight of our Chiang Mai trip!

Our guide spoke very good English and was full of information about the history of the city as well as the food markets and individual dishes. A special dish of Yum Gai Saep, a version of the crispy chicken with salad prepared to a recipe known only to one wonderful lady at the first market, was a revelation. We would never have tried such a vast variety of dishes if we hadn’t gone for tris tour. Good stuff!
