We began in a comfortable van to drive to see the monks come for the morning offerings made by the Thai people and visitors. I spoke with a local woman who made a delicious vegetable soup that she proudly showed me was the dish she makes for the monks. We then drove up to Wat Prah That Doi and our guide explained the story of this temple built up on the mountain.

As a Yoga Therapist I have studied and learned about Hinduism and I was hoping to learn about the Buddhist faith. Once we climbed the steps up to the temple my lessons began. Our guide who is a devout buddhist, as I experienced by him through his actions and offerings to the monks on our whole journey, was a great teacher! We walked the walls of the temple to view the murals which tell the story of The Buddha and his life. I was noticing the communality in story telling through murals which is seen all around the world. I learned a lot that day and through the eyes of person who follows and lives his faith.

We then went to a market to hand select dishes to take as offerings to our next stop, Wat Among temple. In the market I went from stall to stall as our guide chose the items which looked the most delicious to offer to the monks. That was so special to see his love he has for the monks and the care at which he chose the dishes. The temple is old and so amazing to be in a space where for thousands of years people have prayed.

Last stop was for khao soi and that was SO delicious! Our driver and guide chose an authentic Thai restaurant filled with locals and it was the best meal we had in Chiang Mai. We had a wonderful conversation over our meal with them and it was a perfect end to a perfect day. I highly recommend this adventure and educational experience in Chiang Mai.

The tour was incredible and offered a lot of places & great information. Our tour guide was Pee Yo & he was excellent. He was on time, knowledge and just amazing. At the end he took us to eat khao soi that was the best. I would recommend the tour and will for sure book another tour with him next time i am in Chiang Mai. Thank You for the great experience !
