If you like to cook, don't miss this tour!!
Fabulous experience. I loved the spice farm and the cooking class. Shopping for ingredients was a lesson in itself. The spice farm tour was outstanding. In addition to seeing how common spices grow, we got to eat fruits from the tree and smell basic ingredients in medicine and perfume. Plus fun events and surprises. Best of all was the cooking class. I learned a lot from Lutfia - and was able to cook sitting on the floor. If you cook and want to learn about different cultures, don't miss this experience!

    Beautiful island
Nakupenda is a beautiful sand bank surrounded by clear blue waters. It’s a short 20 minute boat ride from Stone Town. There are people selling beers, offering hair braid services, henna and massages on the beach. I had an amazing time! Highly recommend visiting this island!

    A disappointing experience
The main positive thing we got to Nakupenda before most of the people, so we had roughly 20 minutes with only 10 other visitors. It rained most of the time, but it is no responsability of the tour operator. The 2 boat staff who came with us spoke a very basic english, so we had almost no interaction at all. We had to tell them to find snorkeling equipment because otherwise there would have been none. We asked if there was water on board for the trip, and he was offering us his personal water, when there were indeed 8 bottles on, meaning he just understood "water". We bought the self-guided tour, so I have no idea if someone speaking proper english would have been sent for the guided tour. It is also astonishing compared to the average level of english of the other boat owners stopping us in Stone Town roads to sell the same tour. In addition to english, the captain was pretty careless of other boats' integrity, he "pushed" himself inside other two on shore to go back finding a second mask, and while leaving Nakupenda I had to help another boat owner to push our boat from hitting his engine.

Simple, delicious food that can easily be replicated
I really enjoyed this cooking class with Lutfia. We purchased fresh ingredients form Stone Town market before travelling to the spice farm for a tour and then setting to work. The group was quite big (9 people) but there was lots of space and enough food to feed an army! Although the dishes we cooked were simple they were very delicious. The only thing that went slightly amiss was the timing....we didn't sit down to eat until 1.45pm by which time most of my group was getting very hungry!

    NOT A CLASS
This is NOT A CLASS, there was no instruction and we essentially spent 2.5 hours helping chop vegetables without a cutting board crouched on the ground to help the family prepare a large dinner which they will use to feed themselves for 2 days while we just paid to work for them. Our guide did not explain anything to us and was on her phone the whole time or chatting/joking in swahili to the other people around. We have been on other tours where we were engaged with and taught or explained at least some useful information.

5 star experience with lots of education.
Absolutely so great! We had an amazing time. Please ignore the rude comments. Yes you will be eating as the locals do. The tour guide is very sweet. I will say to be sure to take a small snack if your hungry but you will get plenty of delicious fruit to snack on. I will say as a caveat, if you’re not going in March when we went I can’t promise what will be available at that time.

    Charming turist trap
The tour starts at the market, where vegetables, rice, chicken and fish are purchased. It is fun if you haven't already been to the markets yourself. Thereafter a 30-40 min drive follows to the village. We did not know that the tour also included a spice tour which to us was the highlight of the tour, After that, the cooking started in an open hut with five firewood stoves. No chairs or tables. For the participants it was not exactly cooking but solely very, very basic tasks such as cutting potatoes, onions etc. while the tour guide mixed the vegetables/meat/spices in pots and pans. Therefore, do not expect this tour to be an actual cooking class - you do not learn to cook local food, but you see how they cook traditionally. The result was quite disappointing ... lacking spices ironically, overcooked and not at all at the level you experience in Zanzibar. Would not recommend. By the way - we never recieved the recipies ...

A very long and disappointing experience
The tour starts at the markets, where vegetables, rice, chicken and fish are purchased. It is fun if you haven't already been to the markets yourself. Thereafter a 30-40 min drive follows to the village. We did not know that the tour also included a spice tour which - in our opinion - was the highlight of the tour as we had not done a spice tour yet. After that, the cooking started in an open hut with five firewood stoves. No chairs or tables. For the participants it was not exactly cooking but solely very, very basic tasks such as cutting potatoes, onions etc. while the tour guide mixed the vegetables/meat/spices in pots and pans. Therefore, do not expect this tour to be an actual cooking class - you do not learn to cook local food, but you see how they prepare it themselves while helping with simple tasks. The cooking session took three(!) hours, not including the actual eating. The participants we were with kept the spirits high for the first two hours, however, during the last hour we - and the rest of the participants - started to feel restless and people lied on the floor. Unfortunately, the food we got was the least tasty of all of the food we had during our two weeks in Zanzibar. The spices just didn't come through. We had especially hoped to learn how to make the very delicious curry that is served in most restaurants in Zanzibar but were disappointed. We chose this cooking class because of the great reviews it has gotten. Maybe we were unlucky but the experience was very disappointing, especially considering the price. We have been to many cooking classes around the world, and this is the first cooking class where we did not learn to cook at all. In addition, the food was not even tasty. We were back in Stonetown around 16.30.

Don’t spend your time and money on this!
Don’t spent money and your precious time om this! This is just one big tourishippo - unfortunately. We were told by the guide so many time that this was where the locals did their shopping - severals time of the day … I hope not. 80% of the products were souvenirs and just the same that are sold everywhere else in Thailand. It was exiting to se how the sellers managed to move everything from the track at the railwaymarked, but it’s sad to se that we the tourists are the biggest challange. In the floating marked we where placed in the charming boats - but the trip was anything but charming … The sellers were very pushy and grumpy. The bustrip back to Bangkok took over 2 hours because of the trafficjam. Not a good experience.

This is a great way to practically experience spices and how to use it in preparing meals.
This is a great way to practically view the plants that produce the prices and experience what part of the plants are harvested and how it is done. With the cooking lesson you start from basic spices and process then to add to the meat and vegetables.

We really enjoyed the train ride, it was beautiful scenery and a nice break from the car ride. The waterfalls were amazing! The hike is definitely a workout, but totally worth it in the end. It was helpful to be able to cool off in the waterfalls on the way up, I would recommend heading straight to the top and then working your way back down since it will take up the most time. The hiking level id say is definitely difficult so keep that in mind. Our tour guide was great! She was very friendly, she gave us good information on the different places we went and gave us our alone time instead of being there every step of the way which we liked. The driver was also great and so was the van that we rode in. Very comfortable for such a long trip. As it mentions on the website bring a towel, swimsuit, and an extra change of clothes for the ride back! We had all of our stuff in a waterproof bag luckily because it poured rain on us while hiking back down. You also need to bring Thailand baht to pay for the life jackets that are mandatory to rent. Also on the website is says that the daily plan is to start at the waterfalls and end with the train, we actually started out at a lovely cemetery that was in connection with the death railroad and then we went there to catch the train. We had about and hour and a half to walk around. We went to the small museum which you also need cash for to get in. We grabbed a quick snack and took some pictures along the bridge and then took the train which was about an hour ride to a great little private lunch spot, we had fried rice, fruit and a lovely fried banana dessert before getting back to the car to head to the waterfalls which was about an hour away. It was nice to break up the 3 hour ride there with these activities. Once we got to the waterfalls we had about 2 hours to hike up and back down which seemed like the perfect amount of time for us. We got up in about 40 mins, taking pictures along the way and hoping in some of the pools. The way down took about half the time and we were able to rinse off, change and head back to meet our tour guide. We also brought some small snacks for the car ride back since it’s 3 hours and around dinner time we were getting hungry. The driver was very punctual, picking us up right on time and getting us back right at 7pm. Also we were supposed to be paired with some more people but I think they may have canceled because it ended up just being my boyfriend and I on the tour. All and all the tour was a great way to spend the day out of the city!

I wanted to see Erawan Falls. I also wanted to tour the area where the Japanese forced the Allied and local prisoners to build the railroad connecting Thailand and Burma. To my knowledge, this was the only tour that combined both. It's a 2 hour ride from Bangkok to the falls.

Erawan has 7 levels of waterfalls. Most only get to level 5 because the terrain and degree of difficulty increase with each level. I have a slight disability and only made it to 4. Those who are fit can probably make it all of the way. What is good is that the Falls is the first stop and you have 4 hours until you need to report back to the guide. A free lunch is then provided at one of the restaurants near the entrance/exit to the park.

Next comes a drop off at an old WWII area. You're allowed to walk across the train bridge and enjoy the river scenery. As it gets closer to the time that the train will be coming, the guide calls everyone back to the train pick up area. It's a pleasant 45 minute train ride along the river on one side and fields and distant mountains on the other. After a number of stops, the guide tells the group to get off at the next one.

The tour van has driven to pick the group up at the train stop. After a 30-40 minute drive, the group is let off at another historical WWII site. This time, we only have 30 minutes to do a lot! There's another bridge to walk across. At certain sections there are stairs in order to get down to an area that has local merchants marketing their goods. There is an old guard tower from the prison camp, a museum and a P.O.W. cemetary. I'm not sure where the P.O.W. cemetary was, I didn't see it. If I had a complaint at all, it would be that I think there should be more time to see things at the end.

We were probably rushed a bit at the end because we were running behind. What was supposed to be a 10 hour tour became a 12 hour tour. Considering how much territory was covered, the price was extremely affordable and reasonable. The guides were very friendly and helpful. I gave this tour a rating of 4. Now that I am done with this review, I'm going to try to change it to a 5!

There are 2 ways to reach the Erawan or & layer waterfall. You can take a bus from Ekkamai bus station (cheapest) if you are staying in Sukhumvit or hire a private car for 4000 Baht. The ride is very smooth and takes around 3 hours to go. Recommended to take a swimsuit n towel along with walking shoes to climb the levels. Each level is a great view to enjoy. Recommend to go up to 7. You can take as many dips you want but there are small fishes which comes in group as soon as you are in the water to eat the dead skins of your. I am not fond of it though. While on our way back, I found a restaurant beside a river which had a great location n view. Found it randomly so don't remember the name.

This tour was great !!! We were picked up promptly and headed towards the first stop. At the first spot we meet up with our tour guide who was with us all day! O (our tour guide) was amazing ! Very informative and helpful in anything we needed. She explaining everything at every stop and always informed us of the time to the next destination or what the next step was.
The tour was very well put together. We first stoped at Death Railway and we’re given an introduction to the area and history and were given time to explore on our own. Next stop, waterfalls and lunch. O gave us information about the waterfalls and then gave us free time! There was a new rule being enforced at the waterfalls and O was very quick and helpful to help solve that issue for us.
Last stop was River Kwai Tour. It was awesome to ride the train and learn along the way.
O was amazing and really made you feel like a friend very quickly !
10/10 would go again

By far the Waterfalls were the highlight of this journey and the tour guides were as lovely as they come.
They were more than informative and friendly but helpful even in ensuring we took the right paths in our future travel after we left the area to travel south. Highly recommended.

Did not get picked up,three calls later by our concierge they send a taxi for us who about 20 min.later dropped us off in the middle of some road in a rather nasty neighborhood and told us we would get picked up in 5 min. which was not true. We attemptrd to call and the whatsapp number is a non-working #. It was our dream to go to River Kwai so we stopped a policeman to call on our behalf and he was told to instruct us to walk 2 shady blocks and wait there. 10 minutes later an extremely old a dirty van packed with people finally arrived. After such ordeal, we stopped to pick up the tour guide at her house, she barely spoke English and texted during the whole trip. Upon our arrival we were told we had only 20 minutes to take pictures. I can go on and on about this nightmare. Bottom line I would not recommend it to my worst enemy. It is irresponsible and dangerous to expose tourists to this type of situation.

The Climbing to the top was lot easier than i expected, take caution while climbing, rocks are very slippery. I also recommend a good pair of hiking shoes. I really loved this trip. Thanks kiyzo management for arranging.
