This was our first time in Bangkok, and we wanted to begin our stay in the city with a tourism organization that has a locally focused, sustainable mission. Bangkok Vanguards' theory of change and the story of its founder Michael distinguished this group from the rest—and our day spent with tour guide Mu made the experience so worthwhile! Mu studied archaeology and has a passion for art (he mentioned wanting to begin a street art tour, which we would love to join in the future!). His knowledge of Thai history, as well as the sociocultural dynamics within Bangkok and across the country, gave us greater insight than we anticipated for day one of our trip! For those who are new to Bangkok, this tour is designed to help you navigate the city, street food and visit local spots in addition to some of the top destinations for tourists. We could not have asked for a better tour or guide, and highly recommend Bangkok Vanguards and Mu to fellow travelers!

Exceeded my expectations. But it is expensive.

Bangkok starter tour with Phiphit. Her English is perfect and she went out of her way to make our tour amazing and tailored our dining to our preferences.

The air quality was poor but we managed to tour all of the places on the schedule. Along the way Phiphit’s commentary and guiding added to the amazing sights.

Ferry on the Chai Phraya to
Flower market - with satay and Thai coffee/tea snack! Many interesting observations that I would not have known had we have toured on our own. Purchased a small floral wreath to make a blessing.
Walk to Wat Arun. Offered blessing.
Canal exploratory long tail boat ride in west Bangkok with some interesting visual and olfactory surprises. Enjoyed some sweets en route!
Chinatown for a yummy lunch (noodles, som tam, grilled Thai rice sausage ... another stop for some amazing Michelin rated shrimp dumplings).
BTS and walk to Anantara Hotel Sky Bar

We did 13,000 steps. Wear comfy shoes. It rained briefly. Day backpacks with portable umbrellas and hydration helped.

Pro hint: Ask her to pronounce the full name of Bangkok :)

We had such a fantastic day! 9 of us (ages from 16 to 76) booked a private tour.
The day was one of the highlights of our whole holiday.
Mr Mo (our guide for the day) was so friendly, knowledgeable & informative. We rode on tuk tuks, sky train, local train, long boat & the local bus!
We saw more of Bangkok than we ever dreamed possible in a day! Temples, palaces, markets, China town, residential areas....... the list is endless. Lunch was in a local cafe (traditional Thai food) ~ delicious.
I would 100% recommend this tour. Thank you Bangkok Vanguards & a special thank you to Mr Mo x

The tour was great!
The small groupsize of only 3 people was very relaxing!
Bing our guide spoke german very well and was a very fun person to be around.
He showed us small roads and his favorite restaurants. A perfect mixture of tourist attractions like the lying Buddha and authentic non touristic „secret places“.
In addition tao the plan Bing asked us what we wanted to do and gave us some time when we wanted to stay longer at certain locations.
Had a very good time thanks!

Bangkok Vanguards is a must for any energetic and adventurous traveler. Michael and his team create a one of a kind experience including the typical must sees as well as the chance to see behind the tourist veil of Bangkok. From the incredible food, to the Sleeping Buddha, to the flower market to the tuk tuk adventure ride, Bangkok vanguard delivers. They deliver on their motto: walk, eat, laugh, repeat! Do yourself a favor and book through this wonderful tour company which is supporting local businesses and ensuring visitors enjoy and learn more about beautiful and culturally rich Thailand.

My daughter and I did the Bangkok Starter Tour and it was one of the best tours I have ever taken. It truly gave us a feeling for what the actual acuity if Bangkok is like. We took most of the types of transportation and traveled through places where the real people of Bangkok live, work, and shop. Our guide was very knowledgeable of the city and was a joy to learn from.

If you make it to Bangkok, I would definitely recommend you take the tours of Bangkok Vanguards. My only regret is that I won’t have time for their other offerings. Maybe sometime in the future.

I was quite intimidated by Bangkok so I wanted to find an introductory tour but I am not a fan of run of the mill tourist activities. We loved Bangkok Vanguards because they took us to the highlights and also told deeper stories and gave unique experiences we couldn’t have found on our own. They were extremely communicative, polite, thoughtful, and accommodating. They do a great job showing you multiple sides of Bangkok and the local perspective. They have a great pride and appreciation of Bangkok and it shows. Would love to do one of their other tours in the future.

Our first full day in Bangkok, and couldn't have hoped for a better introduction. Off the tourist trail and deep into the real life of the city, on a crammed tour of fascinating sites with a very knowledgeable and passionate guide (Michai). It's a long day, it's mentally tiring but it is totally brilliant - we never would've got the experiences we enjoyed if we hadn't done the tour.

We did the Bangkok Starters Tour with Phiphit and we loved it! It was our first time in Thailand/Bangkok and this was a ideal way to become familiar with Bangkoks 'habits and culture'. We used different means of transportation, ate nice lokal food the whole day long and visited interesting spots we would never had discoverd otherwise. Phiphit was a friendly, very well informed guide who, speaks fluent English or German. Thank you Phiphit for a beautifull day!
