    Stop: 4 hours
The tour starts next to Siam Pier at 10:30am where you'll greet your guide and hop on board one of the klong boats for an exciting ride down along the canals. Along the way, you'll get an idea of life next to the waterways and hear stories of Bangkok from your guide.  After you've disembarked, it's right down to business with a bowl of old-style Hokkien noodles from a joint that's been knocking them out for decades. As you slurp the thick odon noodles smothered in rich beef or pork stew you'll hear stories of their origins and why they are rarely found today. Afterwards, your guide will lead you down through the old streets stopping en route to try the best banana fritters in town cooked up in a local home-style kitchen factory.  Dive into one of Bangkok's oldest markets which has been selling dishes to locals since 1899. Here, you'll guide will take you to the best spots where you'll delve into another dozen dishes like crispy catfish salads, fresh spring rolls with cured sausage and pickles, freshwater fish steamed curry topped with coconut cream and a dozen more mouth-watering dishes. It's not all feasting though. Between courses, your guide will lead you on a tour of the area where you can take in local life in this peaceful part of Bangkok. See the old wooden remnants of the city's oldest silent cinema, discover why this was once the entertainment district and learn about how and where Thai desserts are made.  Say goodbye to your fellow guests at the market. Your guide will help direct you back to your hotel or find transport for you should you wish. You'll leave with a deeper understanding of Thai cuisine and culture, a full belly of delicious food and memories of an old area of Bangkok that few outsiders visit.

Had an incredible 4 hour walking food tour in Bangkok including using local canal ferry and bus. It was a Small tour with only 2 of us, another woman from uk. Tom our guide also showed us a number of local food markets - and we experienced 16 different foods in the 4 hrs- all delicious and no bad side effects! Fit also joined us as a leaner guide and was always respectful ensuring our safety getting on and off transport and crossing roads, giving us cool bottles of water and tissues to use as toilet paper at market public toilets. Everything was included in the cost of the trip- would highly recommend this trip if you want a taste of the local cuisine and lifestyle

This tour was a fantastic introduction to Bangkok, both in terms of an orientation, as a historical tour, and foremost as a culinary tour. Nutth did a great job as a guide, his assistant followed up to ensure all the group was cared for and food orders and arrangements were made in advance. Highlights, for my part, included a short trip by canal boat and then later by bus. This meant we were able to join everyday residents as they went about their daily business. The tempo of the tour hit the right mix of being engaging and at the same time relaxing - it was not audacious as some tours are, meaning, we blended in and felt we were enjoying a real 'insider' type of outing as we mixed with working locals enjoying their morning tea and then lunch.

We did the lunch tour and had a fantastic time!! You get picked up at an easy to find location in Bangkok, then you take a quick boat ride to visit a first clothes market. Then you take a local bus (so that you know how to do everything) to the food market. We tried a total of about 16 different dishes that we definitely would’ve never come across if we were by ourselves. All of the food was super delicious. Our kind and knowledgeable chef explained us all about the place and the food we were eating. You could tell that he was a known local foodie by the way he was greeted in the stores. We would highly recommend this tour for everyone, especially on your first days in Thailand, so you’re culinarily equipped :)

We did this tour as one of the first batches of tourists visiting after Covid border closures and felt super safe throughout the entire time. Your hands are pretty much sanitized constantly and everyone keeps on masks throughout most of the time.

This was one of the best experiences of our whole holiday.

However, if you do not have time to revisit all the food vendors, we recommend to do the food tour at the end of your holiday, because you won't have such delicious food for the rest of your stay! ;)

Big props to our two guides who just did the best job of telling interesting things about the food and showing interest in their clients.

Thanks a lot. We will remember this tour for a long time.

We made this food tour this week on Monday and it was incredible. Our tour guide Fon who is a very warm hearted, lovely and knowledgeable person, made this tour absolutely delicious.
Via boat, bus, tuk tuk and walking we explored various locations and tasted more than 16 different delicacies which were all super authentic and extremely delicious. We discovered places that we would have never found ourselves and Fon explained every dish, its ingredients and preparation methods. Many of the places we visited have been there for several generations.
As dedicated foodies we can highly recommend this tour and want to thank Fon again for making it so special and memorable.

I and my partner recently took A Chef's Tour in Bangkok. The tour was the best I have ever taken and we have taken many. we took the evening tour through Chinatown and it was so great that we booked them for a tour the next morning through a different area of Bangkok. On the second tour with 8 another customers and we have 3 guides are Tom , Shell and Fon take care us for the tour ( they are supper kind , friendly and caring us ) we tasted 27 different local delicious Thai foods. both of us and 8 another customers supper full and happy with so diliouce foods and see thai local activites .Both tours are amazing in the scope of foods and the knowledge imparted from a truly dedicated guide team. I can't encourage you enough to do either or both tours. This is authentic cooking that is off the beaten tourist track. It is well planned and extremely well organized. The guide team, which is headed by an energetic enthusiastic man and former restaurant owner affectionately called "Nut", wants only to please you and proudly show you the Thailand that they deeply love. They are a very sincere friendly family team of eight with the younger generation learning the business from their elders. From start to finish these are tours that give honest meaning to the word hospitality. I am anxious to return to Thailand from Vietnam and experience more from these wonderful people.A very big THANK YOU SO MUCH to A Chef's Tour for such an exciting beginning to this adventure!

I spent ages looking for a good food tour for my boyfriend's birthday (he's a real foodie, so this wasn't an easy task) and I ended up going with this tour after seeing the itinerary and positive reviews. We had our tour yesterday and I'm so glad that we picked this one!

Our tour started with a short boat ride down to the market and ended with us sampling some local fruits and desserts. Our guide, Nutth, was very knowledgeable and had an obvious passion for Thai food and it's prominent role in Thai culture, which made the experience even more enjoyable. We sampled a variety of authentic dishes from places we would never have discovered on our own. They were also able to accommodate my dietary requirements easily, which was a relief.

This was such a great tour and I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for an insight into authentic Thai cuisine (and, as other reviews have mentioned, make sure you arrive hungry!).

This was supposed to be an "introduction to the Bangkok food scene" tour after we relocated to Bangkok but instead became something we did after living in Thailand for a year. Either way, the purpose was well-served! Nutth was our guide, and as it turns out he helped create the very first Chef's Tour, in Bangkok. His tour includes stops at places he has been visiting since his childhood, and it is very clear that he has a personal passion for what he is doing. This is exactly the experience you are looking for if you are new to Bangkok and want to experience hidden gems of the city in one outing.

My partner and I did this tour and wished we'd done it on our first trip to Bangkok years ago. We are both in our early 50s and love Thai food but after many trips to Thailand tended to 'stay safe' and just go for Green Curry's & Pad Thai. We wanted to know more and taste more of the authentic Thai food that the Thai's eat - this tour was perfect! Tom our guide introduced us to 14-15 different dishes as we moved around the more local areas of Bangkok in a small group of 5, exploring local foods markets and local restuarants. Tom was an incredible Guide, spoke perfect English and was so informative about the food, its origins and some Thai history. The food was incredible and I would never have known to order any of the dishes we had despite visiting Thailand 5-6 times already. Now I will be looking for most of them when we are eating street food! Thank you Tom a great day out in such a fabulous city!

We ventured forth into the busy streets of Bangkok on our first full day in the city to find Tom, Shell and Phone (sorry if I got the names wrong, blame the reviewer before me whom I plagiarized). Then it was off on a long tail bus boat ferry thing on a klong.

Shortly thereafter, the magic commenced. We wound our way through streets and markets, gorging ourselves on foods that most of us had never tried and wondered why we had never tried them because they are delicious. We ended up trying a total of around 23 foods and drinks along the way. I believe that street made deep fried bananas have changed my life. The food was so good and Tom and his crew of runners did a great job of explaining the dishes and keeping the five of us organized (and not lost).

We did have a slight worry that there would be offerings of insects or offal, but these concerns were not warranted. Everything we ate was wonderful or close to it. I say close to wonderful simply because I am not a big fan of shrimp paste, so those plates were just ok for me!

If you are in Bangkok, you really should consider this tour. If you do this tour, do not eat breakfast. As a matter of fact, eat a light dinner the night before. And try the deep fried bananas!
