          Slightly tired
My expectations from the name "Alpine" were not met by a long way. This is a fairly flat course with a reasonable amount of water. There are hills in the distance but nothing which can be described as alpine. The course is a little tired at the edges. Management needs to invest a bit more in its maintenance. That said, it's still a reasonable course to play. The club house areas felt rather souless and vacant. The caddies spoke reasonable English and were entertaining. The course is about 45 minutes from central Chiang Mai. Getting away proved a bit tricky as we couldn't get a taxi.

Terrible - rent a scooter or hire a Tuk Tuk driver
Terrible!! Seriously rent a scooter or hire a Tuk Tuk to drive you from place to place. The private tour we had included an English speaking guide & a driver. The guide picked us up at the hotel & took us to the 3 sites. 2 are free & the JEATH war museum admission is 30bht. We received no information from the guide & the total time spent = 2 hours and that’s because we spent time reading about each site as we googled and read more on Wikipedia. For a tour costing us $175.00 this tour provided nothing other than a ride in the back of a pickup truck. Totally worthless tour. Disclaimer: This was the 1st of 2 back to back private tours that I booked with Amazing Asia Tours who subcontracted with Good Times Travel. If I could have cancelled the next day without penalty after this tour we would have. FOLLOW-UP/SUPPLEMENT: After my initial posting on the 2 back to back tours, I received a call from an Amazing Asia Tours representative apologizing and indicating that this is not how they operate tours. He indicated that my tours they had subcontracted & was clear that this is not how they operate. He offered to refund me 50% if I posted a follow-up letting others know this was an exception and not how they conduct tours or to remove my 1 star. I have still not received a refund, but trust they will honor their word and their 1/2 day tour of Kanchanaburi will be outstanding to future travelers.

Terrible - hire a taxi or rent a car
Unlike a previous review: You Do Not Need A Private Guide!! Rent a car, scooter or hire a taxi. Hellfire Pass provides an excellent audio headset and our guide did nothing more than say here we are & paid the admission fee. They provided water, so that’s a positive, and we could stay as long as we wanted to learn the history thru the audio & walking the pass. Same goes for going to the waterfalls. No guide needed, no extra ‘information’ provided about the history of either location. Did provide a nice lunch, but that’s easy to do. We paid $350 for 2 people for the day. No value provided by hiring a private guide. Positive: Guide (Joy) was a nice person, but expectation was if in a van for 3.5 hrs (total between locations and return) then at least provide some information about the area, very disappointed and other private tours we’ve hired are typically worth the added expense. This one definitely was not. Disclaimer: we booked 2 back to back tours thru Amazing Asia who subcontracted tours to Good Times Travel. This was 2nd day, if we could have cancelled after the 1st 1/2 day Kanchanaburi city tour without penalty we would have. FOLLOW-UP/SUPPLEMENT: After posting these comments I received a call from a representative of Amazing Asia Tours apologizing & informing me that this is not how they operate their tours. He indicated in my case they used a local operator in Kanchanaburi but would reevaluate this relationship because this is not how they conduct business. Offered to reimburse me 50% for both tours, if I added follow-up comments or deleted my 1 star review. I am still waiting for the refund, but trust they will honor the agreement and future private tours to these sites are ‘value add’ as we expected and he indicated they expect as well.

          Amazing private tour experience
The tour guide Thanya and Driver were amazing. Very helpful and informative. The private van was superb, comfortable and luxurious. Thanya took great care of us and helped us take amazing photos. The views are beautiful and we learnt a lot about Thai Culture and Cuisine. The weather was very hot but the air conditioning and chilled water inside the van made us feel so relaxed and comfortable. We had a wonderful family trip.

          Personalised, informative and friendly
Our full day personal trip to the war museum, the bridge over the River Kwai and then to Erawan national park and waterfalls was outstanding. Our tour guide, Ken, and our driver were excellent. Very friendly and informative. They couldn't do enough to help us and made our trip very memorable. I would 100% recommend this luxurious way of travelling.

          Ayutthaya with Jill was #1
What a great tour! Jill was our guide and she was absolutely wonderful. So kind and knowledgeable. We learned so much history while on this tour. She was very attentive and was able to read social cues. The lunch spot was so good! Definitely recommend the shrimp and chicken pineapple fried rice. We were picked up from our hotel at 8:30am and dropped off by 3:00pm. We stopped at the stops and were relieved it didn’t take 8-9 hours since it was so hot and humid. Absolutely enjoyed our day on this tour with Jill. Thank you so much!

          Beautiful and Interesting!
Maha our guide was excellent..Not only was his English very good, he was very, very knowledgeable about Ayutthaya and the Summer palace. We traveled with an 80 year old couple ..Renting golf carts for the summer palace a God send..Reduced the amount of walking necessary. Lunch was delicious and served in a local restaurant. The van, while clean and air conditioned, was very loose and rattled at all times..Ourdriver was helpful and drove with his foot in it at all times...hence the rattles! I'd book with this company again as their communication was excellent as was the itinerary.. Thanks to Maha, a very enjoyable trip..

          Unforgettable experience
We loved it! On arrival there an elephant freely walked past us alone! They are a rescue park and do a great job! You can feed the elephants, prepare a food for them, bathe them. The best thing is after departure of daily visitors - you can go alone to the elephants, also during the night. Next morning we walked one of them to the river and bathe her. We also went floating on the river Kwai - it is amazing! With all the jungle around! The place where we spent a night was one of the nicest on our trip, with the view on the river and jungle, big terrase and nice shower. The food was delicious! Elephants World was a highlight of our trip! I would recommend to stay overnight, because you need some time to adapt to this big animals.

          A very informative tour
The tour was very informative about the history of the city. We did the private full day tour and our guide was very good about our itenerary and keeping us ahead of most of the crowds. Excellent way to absorb some of the history of Thailand

A good tour to cover the basics
Good tour - got a chance to see all the main temples in Ayutthaya that you would expect, and the summer palace was great. Traffic was reasonably light so we were ahead of schedule and asked if we could see one more temple, and our tour guide agreed, which was great. Some of the information shared was a bit repetitive, but it was nice to have the information and context to go with the temples.

          Worth the time and money
Our private transfer was on time and provided special accommodation to pick us up away from typical hotels. The tour guide Taim was extremely knowledgeable and her English was very good. I feel like I learned a lot about Thailand’s history from her. We stopped and toured several historical spots. She was very nice and took several photos of us which we really appreciated. I would recommend this tour for small groups or couples. It is fast paced, but it’s so hot you really are ok with getting in and out of the heat with haste. We were provided with a nice lunch. We got beer which we had to pay for on our own, which is understandable, no problem. Overall we had a good time and saw many beautiful things, the service was friendly and comfortable. Would recommend to friends and family.

Spectacular course but not made welcome.
Riverside is a spectacular golf course from the clubhouse and driving range to the immaculately kept course. Our caddy’s were very friendly and knowledgeable, as were the locker room team. However they were the only ones from the arrival at the entrance until we left. In particular the pro shop, starter hut and marshal team members were not friendly at all. We were there Christmas Day and it was a real shame that this took the shine off our visit.

Sam was an amazing guide and the day wouldn’t have been as great as it was without his knowledge.
Sam our guide was amazing with so much information and history for the Private River Kwae tour. He was very understanding of my older Mother. It was a highlight of our visit to Bangkok to be able to see the history and to have Sam to be able to guide us and show us everything so we could explore the history.

It’s a long day but worth the effort
Plan for a very long day especially when trying to get back into Bangkok in the evening traffic. On Sunday it took us about 14 hours in total for the tour. That said it was a very good tour and very doable from Bangkok if you have limited time and can’t spend a day or two in the Kanchanaburi area. You’ll visit all the major WWII sights here and you can’t help but be in awe of those who somehow managed to endure this horrific suffering in unspeakable conditions. You’ll read many reports and see photos and other descriptions of what took place here and how 10s of thousands died at the hands of Japanese soldiers during the construction of the Burma railroad. The train ride adds little to the experience for some but does allow you to travel along a section of the actual tracks/passes laid by the POWs and perhaps feel closer to those who suffered here. On our train ride we struck a truck which abruptly ended our ride as the guide arranged for our driver who was to meet us later to drove to the wreck site and pick us up while officials cleared the track/train and removed the driver from the wreckage. Hope they survived but do not know for sure other than they were alive when we last heard. All in all I would recommend this tour and am glad we did it.

I booked this for my parents and they also had 2 other trips with Amazing Asia tours and had a brilliant experience and highly recommend them. Well looked after and delivered the complete package from pick up to drop off. Private tours and they would like to thank all the drivers and guides for making their first time to Thailand a special time. Thankyou 😊

A fabulous day excursion which we would recommend to anyone, particularly to anyone with interest in the Second World War in the Far East. Our Driver and Guide were excellent; knowledgeable and helpful, and importantly always ready with cold water or a cooling towel when returning to the minibus.
To travel some of the track laid by the allied servicemen and civilians was very moving, and gave spectacular views of the river and an insight into the hardships suffered during its build. The stop at the CWGC cemetery in Kanchanburi made one realise that the many who died on the railway were real people with families and regional contacts from all the many services, and regionally based regiments who fought in World War Two. The tour also gave us the opportunity to get out of the Bangkok bright lights and get a feel for the Thai countryside and its people.
We would recommend though, one significant change to the itinerary. While the trip to the JEATH Museum was interesting (a reconstruction of an accommodation hut with many photos) it really should be replaced by a visit to theThailand-Burma Railway Centre, more commonly known as the 'Death Railway Museum and Research Centre', adjacent to the Commonwealth War Graves Cemetery in Kanchanburi which was part of the tour. This is a very well presented and informative museum with many more times the information and artefacts than the JEATH.
We were lucky in that we were the only two on the trip and thus were allowed to briefly visit this Museum (at our own small expense) and contact with the curator who could tell us more of the personal history of my wife's father, who worked on the railway, absolutely made our entire holiday to Bangkok.

Very disappointing! Once in a lifetime trip for us! Guide could not understand or speak English properly. Nothing was explained to us along the way or at the destinations. We were rushed around. Could not even savour the moment on the bridge or anywhere else! Will definitely not recommend this tour! Not happy at all!

This was the best way to learn about and see Kanchanabury and the Burma railway, it was a long day around 12 hours, but being a private tour meant we were able to travel in comfort and not waste time. Our guide Ken was very friendly and informative, with good English. Also our driver Phayoon was good and got us there and back safely.

It makes a big difference going on a private tour as we could take as long or as little time as we needed and were not waiting around for others.
The War memorial cemetery was gorgeous , so well looked after. The museum is a sad reminder of the war but well worth a visit.
The train ride was great. I advise paying the token fee to guarantee a seat otherwise you could be standing for an hour and a half.
The Bridge was an eye opener, having had family in the POW Camp that helped build it made it all the more significant for me.
Its a stunning area , very pretty.

        Do not miss this !
