- Venture066129428120 contributionsLong and Highly InformativeHighly informative and entertaining tour! Our guide, May, definitely knew her history and explained in high detail. Be prepared, this is 90% an outdoor walking tour (full 6 hours) and we were exhausted at the end. May was fantastic and we did see quite a lot of the old district, but we were too drained to do anything after we were done.Written March 8, 2023
- karlif20140 contributionsIncredible cultural adventureOur tour guide Noina was an absolute gem. She picked us up in the lobby of our hotel downtown Bangkok and we drove south toward the floating market. Along the way she shared a massive amount of information about Thai living, history and culture. We stopped at a small family run coconut (farm?) where she showed us how they use the whole fruit to produce coconut sugar, lotion, bowls, etc. we were able to see their traditional home as well, which we were so grateful for. It was beautiful and really lovely to see something so uniquely local and hands-on. We went on to the floating market- the canal ride was a blast. The market itself was a little overwhelming (LOTS of vendors wanting your business) but plenty of shopping opportunities. Noina gave us advice on bargaining, which was kind and showed us her favorite food vendors - fresh fruit, coconut pancakes, mango and sticky rice, etc. We had a buffet style lunch on a boat just outside the market, which was a nice way to sample a variety of Thai food. We took an alternate route back to Bangkok, passing shrimp farms and more countryside life. The Grand Palace was unimaginably huge and beautiful and we were beyond grateful to have Noina to explain the history and significance and give us a proper tour - I can only imagine how overwhelmed we would have been to navigate it on our own. Overall, I couldn’t recommend this tour enough. Noina was amazing and we had wonderful time.Written January 15, 2020
- bojo11030 contributionsFabulous Tour!!!Our tour guide was Great! She made the experience a really fantastic one! She was attentive, informative but also unobtrusive, which was nice! The floating market may have become touristy but honestly my husband and I enjoy seeing and doing some of the touristy stuff while on vacation. It was actually a really fun experience and the food phenomenal! So don’t miss it based on anyone saying it’s a bit touristy! The market shopping was similar between booths but still fun! Negotiating over the Best Buy kept it entertaining! The Grand Palace was so worth seeing! If you see one thing while in Bangkok this would be It! It was one of the few places I have visited where the beauty was impossible to describe and being well traveled and slightly jaded I can say in all honesty this surpassed my expectations on every level! It was probably one of the most awe inspiring sites I have ever seen! All and all if you are deciding between tours I can definitely say I liked this one extremely well and I liked the private tour since it was 100 percent on our time table and pace! Definite worth the money!Written December 29, 2019
- 603janetv0 contributionsDisappointingAlthough the guide was really sweet and helpful, this tour is too touristy. You're taken to places where all the tourists go. It has an over-commercialised feel and you almost feel set up to spend. Unfortunately the train market is a popular tourist destination, and the floating market too. These were about the only worthwhile parts of the trip. However the lunch provided is at Riverside Bangkok, on a boat that is docked on the Chao Phraya River. It is really a sub-standard buffet. It would be better to eat in the market or at a place that is more personal. The flower market is just the same flowers over and over for use in ceremonies and for religious purposes. Overall this activity is over-priced for what you get and I feel that it could be better planned to avoid some of the disadvantages of a trip to tourist destinations.Written March 20, 2019
- Roger C0 contributionsPlaces We Never Would Have FoundTravelHub met us at our cruise ship and drove us to Bangkok. We saw the Damnoen Saduak floating market, cruised the canals and took us to the amazing train market. People use the train tracks for their market path. The train comes between buildings 8x a day and when it does when it does, people have to clear a path. Once it's gone, the market is instantly back to business! TravelHub met us at our hotel early the next morning to get our day in, and get us back to our ship in time.Written December 9, 2018

My husband and I had such a great tour with Kat. She took us to see 3 different temples, the first being Wat Traimit where we saw the solid gold Buddha, the second Wat Poh where we saw the amazing reclining Buddha and the third Wat Arun - the temple of dawn. We walked around China town and through their food markets which were most interesting, We visited the beautiful flower markets and it was in that area we had a delicious Pad Thai chicken lunch. Kat was so informative and nothing was too much trouble for her - a most kind lady and we cannot praise her enough. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone wanting to mix with local people and see the real Bangkok off the tourist route. Kat’s English was superb.

Our tour with Noina around the best spots of Bangkok was one of the highlights of our trip. For first time travelers to the city, it was a very good introduction to the history, culture, religion, food, transportation and general Thai way of life. We started the tour with a walk around Chinatown and then took cab, tuk tuk, long tailed boat, to visit Golden Buddha, reclining Buddha, Golden Mount, flower market, etc. Tried really delicious Thai food and Thai iced tea. Highly recommended!

My son and I had a great tour with Cat. We went to several main sites, then
she took us off the beaten path. We made our way through food markets, a
huge flower market, (we had a delicious lunch at the flower market), rode a
tuk tuk, a local bus, and a local boat transport. Through much of our time
my son and I were the only foreigners in sight - just what we wanted. Cat
is friendly, knowledgeable, and a pleasure to be around.

After I arrived 30 minutes late for full day tour, Big Country tours still pulled it off!, spent first part of trip with Joab for the 3 Wats and Imperial Palace and was handed off to the wonderful Mina! She got me fed at a fabulous Thai street food joint and then shepherded me to take a canal tour on a long tail boat!,, I pretty much had a semi private tour! Once we arrived back at HQ I got to try the firms new attempts at cooking class and then had them help me rearrange my taxi back to the airport hotel! I felt so well taken care of. As an aside if you (and you should) take this tour and you are staying at an airport hotel, allow two hours for taxi/ Grab to get you to/ from River City Plaza ( tour start/end).

Cat was really helpful about changing the time of the tour as I’d messed up on arrival time. She was informative and flexible, pacing the tour to suit us. This was a really good introduction to Bangkok and helped us decide what we’d like to do tomorrow. Cat was also really helpful in exposing how to get around and gave us directions for where we want to go independently. Highly recommended, especially if you only have a short stay in the city.

This trip was amazing!! Kat was such a knowledgable tour guide that could not do enough for you. We wanted a trip that took you off the tourist trap route and this trip certainly did not disappoint. Kat asked us what we wanted to see and tailored the tour to us, which was the beauty of picking a private tour. We got to see all the main temples, including some of the smaller ones, and we were shown how to get the the palace for the day after with kat writing down our route. We tried lots of different transports, including the train, boat, local bus and the infamous tuktuks! When we mentioned we wanted to see a show she even rang up the local box office and booked us good seats. We honestly can not give the tour (especially kat) enough credit and would definitely do again. We even took kats details so that we could recommend her to all our family and friends.

Hi, I’d like to book a private full day tour for my partner, Michael Davis, who will arrive at BKK at 10:30am tomorrow, 15.Nov. He departs at midnight, so he would would need to be picked up at around 11am and dropped back at the airport by around 9 or 10pm. That gives him 10-11 hours in Bangkok. How much would that cost for a private guide and car? -Richard
