- Adrienne R0 contributionsPink Chili Cooking class? YES!!!My friends and I took the Pink Chili Thai cooking class while visiting Bangkok. It was absolutely fabulous and Pimmy was the perfect tutor. We met up at the On Nut Station and went to the local market. Pimmy explained all the local ingredients to be used in our recipes, including handling the shrimps to determine which ones were fresh, the different herbs we would be using and fresh fish on the run. Then we went to a perfectly prepared and spotlessly clean kitchen where she had all the notes and recipes prepared. It was hands on cooking and Pimmy and her group taught us all the techniques. After we'd finished preparing the five different dishes, we got to eat all the food that we cooked, which was fantastic. My favorite was the chicken with cashews. I’m definitely cooking that Recipe since all the recipes were made available in a take away pamphlet. A great value for the money and a new adventure to include on every single vacation, local cuisine cooking. I can't recommend Pink Chilli highly enough!Written March 15, 2020
- 282prashantp0 contributionsWonderful cooking experiencePimmy met us at a meeting spot and took us for a walk through a local market where we learned about the local herbs and spices. We then made three delicious dishes and had yummy sticky rice dessert. Pimmy and her assistant were very patient and taught us cooking techniques that we can apply to all types of dishes. Thank you for the wonderful experience.Written February 23, 2020

- dionem8210 contributionsGreat cooking class in Bangkok. It was a great class. It is good value for your money. Just enough meals so that it’s not overwhelming. They were classic Thai dishes that were delicious. I loved the individual cooking stations and the decor/ambience of her place. I’d definitely recommend it to friends.Written December 31, 2019

- JABMelbourne0 contributionsCustomer service plus ++On a Bangkok layover with no great desire to launch myself into the hustle of the city, I made a last minute decision to book a Pink Chili Thai cooking class. My late afternoon emails were answered very promptly with exact details of price, taxi fare costs from my hotel and the meeting point. I was able to pay after the class rather than online, much more convenient Due to an overnight gastro episode, I cancelled early on the morning of the class. Once again, a quick and courteous response. So, no cooking class to review but excellent customer service!Written November 7, 2019
- CatharinaStockholm0 contributionsFriendly, tasty and very cleanMorning cooking class which started with a market shopping tour. To be honest, I would have preferred to skip this part since it was upsetting to see some of the live animals (turtles) sold at the market for food. That, however, had nothing to do with the cooking class and after we left the market the rest of the morning was excellent. A big thank you to the three ladies in the kitchen who cleaned utensils and ingredients so we got only the easy part: assembling and frying the food.Written August 6, 2019
- Rumble490 contributionsGreat Afternoon with PimmyMy Dad and I booked this trip for the afternoon and we had such a lovely experience! The group of 10 of us met at On Nut BTS station, from there we walked to a local market, a real authentic experience here, Pimmy told us about local ingredients and was interesting to hear the differences between ingredients. A short walk from the market was the kitchen/classroom. Classroom was lovely and air conditioned, very clean, water and tea/coffee available. We cooked 4 dishes: Sweet and Sour Chicken, Pad Thai, Red Thai curry and Mango sticky rice. Had fun preparing ingredients, the team were very organised and brought the ingredients we would need for each dish on trays. Everyone had an individual Wok so got very hot in the kitchen but good fun! Had fun tasting the dishes after as well! Thank you Pimmy for a great afternoon.Written July 23, 2019

Pimmy led a class that felt so authentic to true Thai culture without it feeling touristy. We learned a number of different dishes that all turned out delicious, and we got tips on technique to bring home as well as recipes for dishes we didn’t cook that day. The entire team was very knowledgeable and encouraging. Pimmy was able to answer questions and the other team members were friendly and helpful. The school was accessible from On Nut station for those who use the BTS. During the market tour, travellers should watch their step as the ground was a little slippery. Overall, my sister and I loved this experience and would recommend it to anyone seeking a cooking class within Bangkok

The teacher was excellent is maintaining a humorous banter with us. She did a good job of maintaining discipline necessary for a successful kitchen and the difficulty of preparing a family sized portion of the sample sized dishes we were making.
While it wasn't discussed in detail, it was mentioned as a "throwaway" comment that electric blenders won't give the same consistency as a mortar and pestle. However, I am happy to use an electric chopper / blender for the knife work I have no skill in before moving to the mortar and pestle to get a paste to my eye that is at least very similar to what we made in the class.

Soooo disappointed with this tour. The lack of professionalism of the "host" Pimmy (who did not introduce herself until asked, 15 mins in) was very surprising, given how lovely most Thai people and service providers are. First up she took us to an extremely underwhelming market (again, a first in Thailand for us - the markets have been so amazing), told us a little bit about the ingredients, then marched us back. The majority of the class itself took place with us all sitting down, which is very unusual for food preparation, and Pimmy did not once demonstrate any cooking! The extent of her input was showing us how to cut lemongrass!! The pad thai was very tasty but the other two savoury dishes were watery and bland, despite cooking with varied spices and ingredients. The class also lasted 1 less hour than advertised and Pimmy showed no interest in the group and just disappeared after we had finished cooking. Altogether, it was very underwhelming and totally different to what we were hoping for. Considering her high rating, we expected a much more pleasant experience... would DEFINITELY NOT RECOMMEND.

My husband and I arrived 30 minutes early at school. We asked Pimee if we can sit anywhere inside (since it was hot outside) while waiting for the class to start, she says we’re not allowed. Pimee is taken the class way to serious, which takes all the enjoyment. We spent more than 10 minutes chopping a tiny onion and a garlic. Then spent more than 20 minutes on the mortar and pestle (which was heavy and not easy to use) to make a paste, such a waste of time and energy. I felt like I was in school again when I accidentally spilled some of the coconut milk while moving it! Pimee said with an attitude: “we do not move our plates from where it is” and moved it back on my cooking station. Chill out Pimee, we are not in culinary school, most of us are tourists, who are there to have fun while learning about Thai cooking and tradition. Do I recommend Pink Chili, I don’t think so.

Dear Sam,
First of all, thank you for coming in our Thai cooking class in Bangkok.
We sincerely apologize if you were not satisfied with the class. We always do our best to accommodate our guests, to make them happy and enjoy the class, to provide a lot of knowledge about Thai cooking and to enjoy the food they cook themselves.
Between the 2 classes, morning and afternoon class, we just have 45 minutes to clean up everything in order to make the class ready for the next class. Also, since we only have the classroom and the kitchen, if you arrive around 1pm, 30-40 min before the meeting time, we have just finished the morning class and we have no place to put you up. This is what I already informed you since you arrived at the school and I apologies again for that.
Near our school, there a small café and few steps away there is also Big C, which is a shopping mall with air conditioning and all the facilities.
Our class, is 100% hand-on, which is what our guests love the most. Everything is fresh and homemade, hand-on cooking. I can understand if you don’t want to chop certain ingredients, but again, as this is a hands-on class, we have to chop ingredients to make the smashing and grinding in the mortar smoother. I apologize if this does not meet with your expectations.
Also, our Thai cooking class is rated by our guests and this reflects our value. I apologize again if you were not happy since the beginning with our course.
At the end, I hope you have learned something and can replicate it at home in India.
Pimmy

I really enjoyed my afternoon here. The market was not very exciting because it's a small, local one. Nevertheless, we learned a lot about the ingredients we were going to use and what to substitute if we can't find them back home.
Pimi was absolutely hilarious, always giggling and making everyone else laugh. She has a great sense of humour!
The food we made was delicious and the tips and tricks were invaluable. I only wish they sold the bamboo rice steamers as I couldn't find any in the market and I was leaving the next day so have left empty-handed.

Firstly, directions to the cookery school we perfect and our taxi driver was able to take us to the door with the gelp if his navigation app.
The group consisted of 6 tourists with 2 chefs to teach, watch, and help. After meeting and greeting, we walked the short distance to the On Nut market, where we saw the fresh local produce including fresh herbs and spices as well as sauces and condiments used in cooking.
Fresh ingredients had already been purchased.
The cooking and teaching was hand's on with the chefs demonstrating, explaining, and watching.
They were polite and helpful to everyone. We learnt to cook 4 classic Thai food dishes.
Everything, including aprons, was provided. Everything was clean and hygienic with hand-washing facilities and a bathroom provided

During one of our recent trips, I booked a cooking class through Klook without realizing that children were not allowed. It would be helpful if the app could include an option to specify whether the class is suitable for kids. Additionally, I felt that the teaching style of the instructor was more suited to a Western Caucasian audience rather than Canadians of Chinese descent like ourselves.
Upon arrival, it would have been preferable if the instructor had taken aside the adults to inform us about the no kids policy, rather than mentioning it in front of the children. This way, the children wouldn't have been left with the impression that they weren't welcome. Furthermore, my husband had no intention of attending, as he had not signed up for the cooking session himself. He became disgruntled when he learned about the no kids policy, and a disagreement ensued between him, parent of another child, and the instructor.
Considering it was my child's birthday the following day, I didn't think asking us to leave was a fair solution after an hour into the class when kids are curious and hand questions about the methodology and ingredient. While I understand that options like visiting the aquarium or the water park are available for entertainment, experiencing daily life and cultural activities is also important.
Despite the initial setbacks, we managed to complete the course. However, I felt that the instructor lacked enthusiasm in teaching the finer details. Children have a lot to gain from learning about the history and culture behind the food they prepare. It would have been great if the instructor had shared more of this information.
It's unfortunate that the instructor seemed unhappy from the start but improved towards the end. Nevertheless, when faced with a challenging situation during our travels, it's important to make the best of it. By finishing the course, we demonstrated our genuine desire to learn and complete what we started.
I hope the instructor's issues were unrelated to our experience, and I genuinely wish them the best in their future endeavors.

Really enjoyed the cooking class. It was very well organised and the food we cooked was delicious. Pimmy was very accommodating and friendly. She made us laugh and feel at ease while we were cooking as some of us were beginners (including myself)! The market was interesting and the dishes we made were so flavourful! Would definitely recommend this class to friends and family! Easy location as is about 5 minutes walk from Onnut BTS. It’s very good value for money too!

Apparently the directions for meet up are explained in text in some obscure part of the printed documents. I had read about it being at Pink Chili and mapped my way to their. Not alone one other person was inside waiting. We were escorted back toward the BTS station and met up with our hostess and the other 8 in our class- we then went to the market to see the ingredients and learn how to shop for these items. Interesting! The class was good and you get a printed handout for recipes, sometimes hard to understand language and ingredients. But overall a fantastic experience cooking with the wok, and making the curry paste! 2 more showed up late for 12 total- a manageable group.

This was the best cooking class I’ve ever been to! They really help you learn the selection of ingredients and how to prep the authentic dishes. The pad Thai was the most delicious pad Thai I’ve ever had! I have celiac disease, and they were very accommodating for gluten free, at least their menu for Mondays was completely gluten free. I definitely recommend, this was a really memorable experience and the food was delicious. The market tour at the beginning was also a fun touch.

On Nut market is back open, but the experience description still says there is no market tour because of covid. We are hoping this just has not been updated yet, but can you please confirm we will be doing the market tour together as part of the experience? Thank you!

Can you accommodate vegetarians?
Written February 17, 2020
Yes, I remember before the class she sent out a questionnaire and specifically wanted to know our needs. Everything is separated, the kitchen and cutting area are clean, so I don’t think there is worry for any cross contamination.

We're a family of 4, both my daughters (age 14 and 12) have taken cooking school in the past. Is there an age limit?
Written July 23, 2019
Hello!
I don't believe there was an age limit specified. At age 12 & 14 your children should be fine to use a sharp knife for cutting/chopping and to cook in the wok. The instructor was very good at explaining and showing us the cooking and stirring techniques. Enjoy!
