          Amazing and delicious
Our tour guide was amazing. They picked us up and dropped us off at our hotel seamlessly. We got little facts as we cruised down the river then visited a local farm. We got to smell multiple herbs and the food served was delicious.

          A Beautiful place.
The palace sums up the Kings of Thailand's taste through out their rule, it has many Court yards with statues of Budda's on display and ornamental gateways at each entrance, there are waterfalls that stand alone in several locations locations. The main attraction is the Gold lying Budda which is very popular and shoes must be covered. There are a variety of colourful stucca's as well well as a temple on the site. If you are a single traveller a tour is your best option as the whole complex will be explained. There are refreshments available and souvenirs, best time to visit early morning for solo visitor or late in afternoon when heat of the day has passed.

A must do if visiting Chang Rai !
Booked through Viatour while we were staying in Chang Rai. We had an amazing guide ‘Angie’ and lovely driver. It was a private tour which allowed us to spend more time at each stop . Angie’s English was very good, she was knowledgeable and very interesting to talk to, particularly about Laos and the Chinese investment there. We had several stops and the highlight was a short boat trip down the Mekong with Laos on one side, Thailand on the other and Myanmar behind us. The temple stops were stunning, thoroughly recommend this trip .

          Disappointing Bang Rak
The tour we experienced did not match the description given. There were no hidden alleyways, secrets or cultural hotspots, just visits to a few local restaurants. We did not venture off a small part of Charoen Krung Road, a tiny part of Bang Rak, and went nowhere near Silom Road or Patpong as was advertised. There were supposed to be opportunities to shop for local goods in those areas but that didn’t happen. The whole tour lasted barely 2 hours instead of the 3.5 hours scheduled. The whole thing was very disappointing.

The Grand Palace is a must see if your visiting Bangkok
The Grand Palace Bangkok is a must see if your visiting Bangkok. We had a very knowledge guide who shared her vast amount of knowledge with us. Highlight of our stay in Bangkok . Awe inspiring the detail, history connected to the grand palace design both in its exterior and interior appearance is breathtaking. The array of stones and the colours arranged adorning and laid carefully into the architecture and the statues which are abundant throughout the grounds are beautiful in appearance. The grounds also are well cared for and maintained throughout the site. Best time of day to visit is early am as it gets very hot and extremely busy if you go later. We booked on an individual tour and visited early in the morning just prior to the rush of the larger group tours arrived.

This journey along the Kwai fulfilled all our expectations, and more. Thoroughly relaxing and informative in all respect
When I first viewed this trip I was concerned at the lack of feedback from travellers so felt we were travelling into the unknown. This was back in early 2024 so apologies for the late review having enjoyed the trip so determined to write a review. My partner has already submitted her report so I will just add on my additional views; firstly Saint Krista, a wonderful German lady who was the cruise manager..no words can fully compliment this outstanding lady for the care she provided during my partners (tummy) illness. I remained on board during the day to provide comfort etc whilst the other folks went off on a day tour. Sitting upstairs on a shady deck during the day, enjoying the Kwai flowing past, whilst both myself and Krista had pleasant chats over coffee or Ricard (good for a poorly tummy) the chef enquiring what sort of a lunch I would like prepared, was five star. I can add that the food prepared for us was outstanding; the chef was quick to adapt her menu to our individual idiosyncrasies - not too many fortunately. Krista was always to hand and passed all our compliments and requests to Chef. Meal timings were fluid, as some of the trip timings changed due to traffic and tides. Breakfast was superb with individual choices freshly prepared. Readers may be interested in the bar, I certainly was! All bottled but containing a Catholic reasonably priced selection of liquor. I certainly needed a few stiff Ricards for medicinal reasons. Beer was local and wine imported, slightly pricy until the friendly barman pointed out a wine bargain. A bottle, purchased, can have your name on it for the next evening etc. A tab is run, payment on the final evening. To sum up, a marvellous mini cruise on a fascinating historic and interesting river, in excellent hands on board a quirky ship and and cabin. I would like to experience it again, if just for the care and comfort we experienced at the hands of Krista and her crew! Happy to answer any questions you have. David

          Beautiful Historical Sites and Scenary
The sites were beautiful and our guide was full of knowledge, answering all of our questions. We got a lot of pictures of the stunning scenery. Travelling the river between Laos, Myanmar, and Thailand was extraordinary. A must-do when in Chiang Rai!!

          Great morning on the river
Great communication, picked up on time in an air-conditioned van. Boat driver had good English with good knowledge of the area and great traditional Khao Soi. Would highly recommend.

A unique experience not to be missed!
Beautiful boat and although small, with single beds, the cabins are cleverly designed and have aircon. The shower and bathroom all work perfectly and there was never any hint of running out of water, power, etc. There were only 9 of us on board when we travelled; I believe the maximum guest number is 20. Krista, the cruise manager, is excellent and looked after me when I unfortunately wasn’t well (nothing to do with the boat or their food), providing me with medicine and reassurance, and also making sure the bed was made more comfortable for me as I personally found it too hard. I sadly missed out on the trips but was content to stay in my air conditioned cabin and watch the world float by. The boat anchors in the middle of the river at night and tows a small tender at all times to transport people to the bank for trips, etc. The staff are all excellent and attentive, led by Krista, with entertainment put on by the staff on the last night. My partner stated that the food was lovely and lots of it (I wasn’t eating at this point!). I was sorry not to have experienced it more but would happily recommend.

          Floating market for TOURISTS
We ventured out to see the floating market, upon arriving and boarding a paddle boat it became very apparent that this only run for tourists. Souvenirs shops abound every inch of the water ways . The worst feature I. Our view is the use of long tail motorized boats' they are noisy if uou like to be in an srea with diesel and gas fumes its eonderful. VERY POLLUTING IN MY OPINION GET RID OF THE MOTORIZED BOATS. OVERALL I would give this a very very poor rating however if you like things created only for tourists go for it.

Good deal - one time experience.
Civilized dinnercruise. Well organized. Food served at the table on a nice boat. Relaxing background music. "Nouvelle cuisine" food OK. Not "Waaauuw", but certainly not "Pfff" either. We opted for "free flow wine, beer". Good quality wine available (Prosecco / Rioja). Does not come exactly cheap (100€ pp), but all in all a good deal if you don't like the disco-boats with buffet-food.

          AVOID!
AVOID! I just want also to let you know that - I have 30 years of tours/traveling so this is not my first experience - This is a private tour (but, honestly, 80% of what I am going to write would be bad for a group trip too….) and the price isn’t cheap - After this excursion we had very good tours, so, yes, we were unlucky You can just read title of each point or read the whole thing if you want to know more. 1) English tour guide and no English 😳 ? The guide (Mark) speaks little to no English. To the extent that when we were asking questions slowly, the broken English answers he gave were unrelated to the topic. 2) A real tour guide? - During our car trip to the different attractions Mark didn’t give us any context: we didn’t know we were going, what we would see, and the location’s basic history. Zil, none, zero, nada… we tried multiple times in different ways to let him know we wanted to know more. It always fell on deaf ears. The trip was him either talking to the driver or on his phone. - All the information he gave us was a game of true or false. We would get out of the car and all he would say was “we are at X/Y/Z”. As afore mentioned, he gave very basic information: when asking other guides afterwards, we discovered what he said to be mostly wrong. Since he was checking Google most of the time to answer at our basic questions, I am wondering why he didn’t get the info right? - For Thai people the Royal family has an immense value. This guide wasn’t able to even distinguish one king from another (not even to say if the figure portrayed was a king or not 👀 ) , even in front of photos. This left us wondering whether he even is a real tour guide. 3) Let’s keep up with the pace! Mark would quickly walk ahead, neither waiting for us nor checking where we were, leaving us slightly lost at times. 4) History and math test time! I think this is less important but was a kind of the cherry on top of the pie. - His answers assumed we were already aware of every step in Thai history and that what he was saying was common knowledge. - When we were asking for dates on events/buildings, Mark replied using the Thai calendar. When asking for clarification, he would always say either 100 or 250 years ago, which we later discovered was also not true for most information. To sum up, RUN away from this tour!

My wife and I enjoyed the 2 day tour to River Kwai and Jungle rafts overnight.
The first day started for us at 6am pickup by mini bus and taken to a central point to board a coach that had 14 of us. The railway museum and War graves cemetery were very interesting and thought provoking. Then on to lunch, before we were met by our next guide who was to take us to the Hellfire pass and museum. As it was very hot and humid we decided to skip the pass until the following morning when it would be much cooler, which proved to be a good idea as we were almost the first to arrive at the Jungle rafts and had the swim in the river to ourselves.
We arrived at the Jungle rafts early afternoon and after check in jumped in the cool but swift flowing river and drifted the length of the rafts a few times, before we chilled on the sun lounges and hammocks. We walked the gentle route to the Mon Village and cave Buddhas before returning for dinner next to the river before the Mon traditional Dance show, which last about 30 mins. The rooms are lit by LED battery mock kerosene lamps, but all dinner tables and walk ways are lit by kerosene lamps. Just before breakfast the Elephant is brought down to the river from the Mon Village to allow guest to feed her various pieces of fruit.
We then did the Hellfire pass and museum, leaving the rafts at 08.30, which was quite cool and opens at 9 ideal, before moving onto the Death Valley railway and the 3 hour drive back to Bangkok, so take a book or just doze on the coach. A great 2 days trip. We would definitely recommend to all our friends. A word of note there is no electric or Internet at the jungle rafts to take a power pack if you want power for your phones.

The tour was so well organised, and all the logistics clearly communicated. The Death Railway museum in Kanchanaburi was fascinating, a piece of WWII history that I didn't know much about. Jungle rafts resort itself is stunning and the Mon dance performance was unexpectedly excellent!

A great introduction to the area and the history. Good if you only have a couple days. However, the visits to the museums and the bridge are quick. If this is history you really want to explore, you will need more time.
The Jungle Rafts hotel was peaceful and lovely. Kind, friendly staff. Fun riding the current from one end to the other. Good food. Interesting learning about Mon culture.

Well organized trip, comfortable transport, a bit tight time for memorial museum.
Guide is very nice and easy to understand. Stay in Jungle Raft is nice, good meals, hut is of course simple but fine and hygienic. Tour of Mon village is relaxing and informative. I liked the train ride, but it did not go over the River Kwai bridge. All in all, we had two fascinating, fun days.

I will admit that when I booked this tour I was worried about a hotel without power in Thailand. What a surprise. This turned out the highlight of our Thailand tour and we did alot in Thailand. I chose the tour as we got to see Hellfire Pass and as a Aussie I always feel we should pay our respects to our fallen soldiers when travelling. Yes it is 2 days and my advise is to pack lightly (we left our luggage in Bangkok and took a small bag). It is a big drive and you get to stop quite a lot. You wont be bored. You see the cementries and the River Kwai Bridge which is covered off in other reviews but the fun starts after that. You are taken to the jungle and deep in the jungle you board a cool long tail boat. Then 20 minutes up a river - just you and nature - come around a corner and there it is. A beautiful hotel run by the Mon tribe. They take you up to visit their village - all very relaxing. You get to see their elephant which you will fall in love with. Its then back to the floating hotel and you can safely swim or just go to the bar. The tribe put on a show that night. The next morning you wake up to fog rolling up the river. Have a breakfast on the river and then a real surprise visit (I will keep it a secret for you but bring your camera to breakfast). We then checked out and went off to Hellfire Pass. This is so well looked after - a real tribute to the Australian Government. Steep steps at the start but no too bad once down the steps. There is a small air conditioned museum to go through as well. From there they put you on the original train line that the prisoners of war built. Then back to Bangkok. Look it is a full 2 days but well worth the money. We had doubts sure but the food was all good, water is supplied, mozzie nets - but we didn't see any mozzies. The river water is fine to swim in (clean). The only extra money we spent was at the bar. You wont regret this tour.

My partner and I took part in this two day trip at the end of a busy three week holiday around Thailand. It was very well organised. We started at the museum and military cemetery, and our only criticisim about this is that we did not have long enough here - just another 20 minutes would have done but we were rushed around and this was disappointing. The bridge over the River Kwai was impressive and we even got to see a train crawling across. Next was the longtail boat to the Jungle Rafts accommodation, which is amazing and unique. Great lunch, lovely staff and the surroundings are superb. We had some free time, so had a walk up to the Mon village and had a swim in the (very fast flowing) river. The room is small and rustic - there are no mod cons but who cares! You have a mosquito net over a comfy bed, what else do you need at night? Once dark, lighting is by paraffin lamps and small torches, the food is excellent and plenty of it. There are cold beers and cocktails and a dance show is put on by local villagers. It really was a unique place to stay and for one night we were more than happy here, after the bustle of Bangkok. Our second day involved a trip to Hellfire Pass which was very humbling and we were pleased to have much longer to visit the Pass and museum. We had a train journey over some of the original POW built railway line, followed by another good lunch and journey back to Bangkok. All in all a very enjoyable two day trip and one we would recommend.

Dear Dawn The success formula of the River Kwai Jungle Rafts, complemented by the historical importance of the Kanchanaburi province, is one that exceeds expectations. It is the simplicity, the fabulous location, and the whole atmosphere along the Kwai Noi River that has seen raving reviews from the moment, the Mon people set this up. We simply cannot anything else to your fabulous review, matching your unforgettable experience during this 2-day exploration of the Kanchanaburi province. With kind regards Asian Trails Thailand

A moving account of the horrific building of the Burma railway. Well organised & informative we went & visited the museum & war graves on day 1. A trip up the river to see the famous bridge, then a second river trip to the jungle rafts. With no electricity & internet it was a different experience. Loved the swim down the river. Day 2 involved a trip on the railway. All in all an excellent trip. On the downside, the time allocated to the museum & graves was too rushed. We could have done with another hour, which was a shame.

No electricity. No wifi. Perfect! We stayed here 24 hrs. Floated with life vests from top of the rafts to bottom during day. Lay in hammocks and convenient tables outside our rooms reading during evening and night. Not too mosquito ridden at all considering it was on the river. Bit warm at night (no electricity - no fans) and constant river sounds didn’t bother me but the kids slept partially. Set menu food was good - they catered for my nut allergic child. Bar was cosy and allowed takeouts to rooms. Very safe and fun. Several rooms tied securely together on floats - not too much wave movement. Though 24 hrs probably enough for this experience. Other option would have been staying in the more modern rafts further up the river (they had windows) but was more expensive!

Dear Reggier Great to hear about this fabulous overnight product on the River Kwai. It has been a sincere pleasure reading that the non-western amenities have only added to the overall positive experience. The Mon people have set up a very unique product where parts of their culture are still deeply rooted in the overall operations and management. Your header "Don't worry - Do it!" says it all Kind regards Asian Trails Thailand

This tour was amazing!! The Jungle Rafts are gorgeous!!

It is a pretty cool experience being able to swim the length of the rafts bith in terms of doing something fun and a great way to cool down. We visited in January which is a cooler time of year in Thailand, i can imagine it would get pretty hot and the river being right on the door step is a fun way to cool down.

The rafts are gorgeous, having no power made them a little more special because at night they are lit with lanterns! It did mean the rooms are pretty humid... i creatively solved tge problem sleeping under a damp towel :) We had an amazing experience in the morning as they bought an elephant down to the river next to the raft.

The visit to the Mon village is amazing and our guide Bli (?) Who is a resident of the village was amazing. He was friendly, funny, knowledgable and has a great rapport with all people on the tour.

The visit to hellfire pass was phenomenal! Again Bli was super informative and seemed to be able to make the visit meaningful with his knowledge tgat was specific to each of the cultures represented in our group!! As Kiwi's he talked to us about Anzac Day memorials held at the site.

I will be honest, at times we wished we had chosen the air conditioned option at the Floatel, but in hindsight this was such a special experience that I will reflect on fondly for a long time!!! I would encourage you to do this tour, it is very special.

It was the first time we saw stars in Thailand, and Dawn on the rafts was spectacular!!
