About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- anthonygI9441VN0 contributionsBangkok back alleysTour guide was friendly and knowledgeable. Got to see a lot of Bangkok that you would normally totally miss. Ride was about 17km and through some really narrow back alleys so maybe only go if you are quite confident on a bike.Written September 1, 2024
- 209jeraldc0 contributionsGreat tour with great guide! This tour was great. Woody was an amazing guide. Highly recommend. They can adjust tour based on how comfortable you are on a bike. I was the only customer in my tour group! This was a great way to see real neighborhoods in Bangkok, not just the tourist parts.Written May 14, 2024
- Lexigibbs0 contributionsMUST DO 5/5 stars!INCREDIBLE 5/5 stars! Our tour guide was both passionate and informative. He was excellent. We saw backstreets of Bangkok that we would not have seen!Written March 14, 2024

- 701theresk0 contributionsYou have to do this trip. If you can ride a bike, you need to book.Super enjoyable - the tour was adjusted to suit our riding ability, which resulted in more experienced level of riding that had some super fun challenging back alley riding. The whole tour was a highlight of our trip and highly recommend!Written January 4, 2024
- Q5470OYstephenc0 contributionsGreat time exploring Bangkok on honeymoonThis was an excellent tour and definitely worth doing to explore Bangkok. our tour guide Tom was very informative about the city, region, and various landmarks such as temples. The bike ride was fairly easy, going through a combination of backroads (which can get fairly narrow at times) and occasional brief stretches along main roads - but our tour guide did a great job making navigation stress free. This provided a whole different view of the city from what we would have been able to see on our own!Written December 3, 2023
- Dreamer7916160 contributionsNothing really newThe tour guide was very much engaged and friendly and could tell interesting stories, although Sometimes a bit difficult to understand. All in all, I ask myself if it was really worth the money...?? WolfgangWritten November 10, 2023
- jameshan100 contributionsGreat Night Bike TourI would like to start saying I had an amazing bicycle tour with Bett. He is an amazing tour person and very knowledgeable. Since I had been eating a lot during my trip in Thailand. - isabelw6530 contributionsGreat hidden BangkokAwesome tour, felt safer and more chilled than I was expecting, given the roads! Incredible tour, really takes you through the parts of Bangkok you wouldn't even have known to go see. History is really interesting and the guides clearly love their jobs and their city. Would recommend highly.Written September 8, 2023
- Debbi C0 contributionsOverall, very disappointing and not worth the money. We booked the Phuket to Bangkok self guided bike ride with Grasshopper. What a total disappointment from the very beginning. The tour was poorly organised. The accommodation ( except for the Devasom) was very cheap, dirty, often remote and below expectations. We paid AUD $6000 for 10 nights two pax. Two nights at Sara Resort. Chumphon was the worst. Pool filter broken and water was putrid, fan in room broken, lights in room broken, a menagerie of animals in the bathroom, tiny gym was too smelly to breathe, dog faeces out the front of our room, massive deep holes in front lawn. All in all not worth the money. Never again.Written June 17, 2023
- randyc9280 contributionsBiking through BangkokIf you want a super fun tour of Bangkok then highly recommend this tour especially with Tik! He really made this tour super fun. He went above and beyond taking pictures for us, letting us try the local food, explaining all the sights. Highly recommend if you want something fun and active to do!Written April 21, 2023
- 820sheilac0 contributionsGreat experience! One of my favorite excursion when we went to Bangkok. Our guide was knowledgeable and interactive. Our group had a great time! Definitely be ready to peddle thru narrow streets.Written March 2, 2023
- maceface5030 contributionsMust do!This was our favorite activity in Bangkok. Navigating traffic and back alleys was intimidating at first, but I feel like we got a glimpse of the life of a local. This paired with an education on Thailands history and its culture, made for a perfect introduction to our amazing vacation. I would put this on a must do list for anyone visiting Bangkok.Written February 17, 2023
- nikkict20200 contributionsHistoric Bangkok Bike RideOMG! This was the best! I lucked up and was the only biker on the trip! So I had tour guide and safety “officer” who managed traffic if necessary. I would never have seen such backstreets in Bangkok. It’s an easy ride, flat, but often narrow alleys. The guide was full of history. We stop for lemonade and a banana roti that was awesome! Highly recomend!Written February 4, 2023
- Safari487805892970 contributionsA great way to see BangkokA brilliant day cycling around Bangkok's villages and laneways. Woody our guide was absolutely fantastic. We got to try Street food and visit abandoned Temples. Woody was very informative. I would thoroughly recommend this trip we all absolutely loved it.Written January 11, 2023

I enjoyed the bike tour however we did sit around for a long time at lunch. I would have liked to see China Town and or the flower market instead.

Thank you for sharing your experience on Bangkok Canal Boat and Bike, and giving the comment for us. Somehow, it seems like this tour didn't match to what you were looking for. In regard the tour highlight for this tour is riding the canal and canal boat ride from another side of Bangkok.

Hmmm, difficult one this. We certainly saw a different side of Bangkok. Everybody was very friendly and the lunch was good. We also had an interesting stop for a drink (excellent iced coffee in my case) at a cafe down a maze of passages which we would never have found any other way. However the actual cycling around was a bit scary at times - much of it is on back streets but the start and finish, and some bits in the middle are necessarily along / across busy roads. You just have to trust that the vehicles will slow or stop to let you through, and that's a bit frightening. We felt that our guide (Tom) could have stopped more frequently to check we were all safely across the roads, and we nearly lost him at one point when we had got cut off by a turning car.

Thank you for your valuable review for Bangkok Canal Boat and Bike. We're glad that you found things that you like about our ride. Speaking of the roads and traffic in Bangkok, it's never been our favourite thing as well. But this is always in our mind.
We are noted for your comment to remind our guides to be careful and being highly conscious on this at every tour.
Thanks again for sharing your experience for our improvement.

This was a highlight in Bangkok for me. Our experienced guide "Seen" was expert at getting across busy streets into the backstreets and canal areas of the city that tourists don't see. We rode through several communities that all live together and received many waves and smiles as we rode past the homes of locals. Such was exceptional along a canal and plenty of time to visit and wander. Our canal boat ride was awesome as was the 4 ft. monitor we saw lounging on the riverside. This is an activity I would highly recommend. Bikes were in great working order and the shop was immaculate. (Bikes could use some cleaning as far as grease on the chains.) We look forward to hiring this company again for some extended cycling in Asia.

It was just my husband and I who signed up so we had great guide Black all to ourselves. He was very informative (excellent English) and very safety conscious in the small amount of biking we did have to do on busy streets. The lunch at a local, canal-side, open-air restaurant was excellent. The only reason that I dinged it a star was because Grasshopper had moved its office/meeting place when the Grab driver got us to the address provided. Between the two of us and two locals who tried to help all calling the number Grasshopper provided, over 40 times during 45 minutes, the phone was always busy. They finally called us when we had not shown up at the appointed time, and told the driver where to find them. Since reserving a couple of months beforehand, Grasshopper had moved and changed its phone number without notifying us -- very poor business practice.

This tour was one of my favorite Bangkok adventures even after 15 years of visits. We rode through a maze of narrow alleys that gave us an intimate view of local neighborhoods that I had never seen before. We glimpsed Portuguese, Chinese and Muslim communities, visited a stunning Buddhist temple, tasted unexpectedly delicious Portuguese Dry Cakes, ate lunch at a wonderful riverside restaurant and rode a boat through hidden canals with lizards basking on the walls. The pacing was reasonable even for me, who had not been on a bike for at least a decade. Our guide was careful to keep us all safe and had great information to share about the history of the city, the culture, food and spiritual traditions.

I really enjoyed this tour of Bangkok. I got to see a lot of the tiny backstreets and canals that I would never have come across on my own. You really get a good feel of what Bangkok is like for the locals, going through the markets and pedalling past their homes and workplaces. The smaller canals that we took the boat through showed you how life was like in Bangkok before cars took over.
Our tour guide Kan was fantastic and had a lot of stories and history to share with us.
The bikes were high quality, with gears and disc brakes, which was necessary for one slight hill going over a bridge and a handful of small ramps around the city. There were plenty of stops so the distance was barley noticeable.
The tour is suitable for families (we had a family join us in our group) but I would recommend that your children have a bit of confidence riding bikes and are familiar with using gears. Some of the backstreets were narrow and had sharp corners that are a little technical to bike through. We also biked on and crossed some roads big and small which may be scary for younger or inexperienced cyclists. However, don't let this stop you from going! I'm sure if you let your guide know, they will provide you with some extra help, and there is plenty of time for you to go slow and gain confidence along the way.

Had a fantastic day with Kan today who looked after us all brilliantly (3 adults and 4 kids aged 4-9). Really varied tour along beautiful quiet canals, the Portuguese quartet was gorgeous, and the temples were stunning. Kan was v knowledgeable and really understanding of the kids (feeding turtles and fish etc). Snacks and food aplenty. Boat ride was an exciting way to finish! Just a brilliant day!!! Can’t recommend them highly enough.

We moved to Bangkok half a year ago ut wnated to experience some of the parts we don't normally do. As we had family visting we decided to do the bika+boat tour which was absolutely fabulous. Booking (at short notice) was very smooth. The bikes were great - including a tag-along for our 6-year old. The route is absolutely fabulous. I have been coming in Bangkok for more than 20 years but never experienced "the real Bangkok". Our guide - Tammy - was a big part of making this an exceptional tour. I will be recommending this to visting frineds and family. And I can't wait to do some of the longer trips around Bangkok.
