- Anna P00Amazing tour with a great tour guideOur tour guide, Sofia was amazing very friendly and happy to answer all our questions ☺️. The tour was very interesting, we learnt a lot but maybe including Wat Arun would have been an extra bonus. Apart from that we definitely recommend it. 😊
- FrequentFlier26029300Great tour, a mixture of culture, history and good foodIt was a great tour, ran like clockwork. Our guide Donna was very knowledgeable and entertaining. Plenty of time to view the temples and the river cruise back to Bangkok was very relaxing and the buffet lunch was delicious. Would recommend.
- aliiG5906NA00very goodExploring the Rich Heritage of Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, Thailand Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, often referred to as Ayutthaya, is a city in Thailand that holds a treasure trove of historical and cultural wonders. Situated just north of Bangkok, Ayutthaya served as the second capital of the Siamese Kingdom for over four centuries, from 1350 to 1767. Today, it stands as an archaeological site, preserving the remnants of a bygone era. Historical Significance The Ayutthaya Kingdom Established by King U Thong, Ayutthaya became the epicenter of political, economic, and cultural activities in the region. The kingdom flourished, drawing influences from various civilizations, including the Khmer, Chinese, and Indian. Its strategic location along the Chao Phraya River contributed to its prosperity and significance. Architectural Marvels The city was adorned with grand temples, palaces, and monuments, showcasing the artistic and architectural prowess of the Ayutthayan people. Wat Phra Si Sanphet, with its iconic three chedis, and Wat Chaiwatthanaram, an imposing Khmer-style temple, are among the must-visit historical sites. Modern-Day Exploration Ayutthaya Historical Park Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Ayutthaya Historical Park encompasses the most important ruins of the ancient city. Visitors can wander through the ancient temple complexes, marvel at the intricate stone carvings, and gain insights into the historical significance of each structure. Ayutthaya's Floating Market For a taste of local culture and cuisine, Ayutthaya's floating market is a vibrant experience. Traditional wooden boats line the waterways, offering an array of Thai dishes, fresh produce, and handmade crafts. It's a sensory journey that immerses you in the heart of Thai daily life. - Camper6318383909000Excellent service and great visitI had booked the private car package on internet. And the driver - Not arrived the hotel before 2 hours of the scheduled for picked me up. And he did the best arrangement to make sure I don’t need to queue and wait so long. He did the great job as well! Thanks, Not.
- Martin P00Visit to wife's grandfather's grave.Chose this hotel due to its unique location. Rooms floating on river were fantastic. Travel by boat to reach the hotel. Unique experience down river Kwai. Staff were willing and efficient as well as friendly. Thai food was lovely but I had dodgy stomach second on the second night so ordered steak. Without going into detail, we had a number of issues but they resolved satisfactorily. Recommend.
- Keemoog9900Walk the streets of King Naresuan, see the glittering treasures of ancient SiamThe best way to see Ayutthaya if you don't have a lot of time. Nice bus ride to all the major sites, then catch the boat back, have a great lunch and head back to Bangkok. I've done this tour several times. This was was the best food I've had. Incredible views of the ruins, good history lessons from tour guide and ended going back to explore for a whole month. Do miss this tour.
- lensholidaysindia00excellent servicegreat service good staff tour operator food transfer meals sighseeing excellent service and good copmpany
- Z8077GShelena00Well organised tripThe guide First was excellent (his English is very good, he is passionate about his country and places we visited, very informative, and always willing to take photographs, etc.) We were also given ample time by ourselves to walk round and photograph the Ayutthaya temples we visited. Then, after an hour-long drive, we boarded the boat and had a marvellous buffet lunch before the relaxing boat journey back to Phnom Penh.

We visited the floating markets, it was interesting to see how the floating markets operated and to see Thai people actually cooking on the floating boats. We would recommend you go on the rowing boats to get a full experience of the floating markets.
The visit to the bridge over the river Kwai was ok, nice to see where the film was made and to walk along the bridge. The museum was disappointing, it was just a walking way filled with photographs and pictures.
The guide was very pleasant throughout the trip, giving us plenty of information about the places visits and about Thailand in general.
The one downside was the amount of time spent on a minibus, but I expect that in the places visited. At least the minibus was clean and comfortable

Please be aware this tour DOES NOT include a visit to the Thailand Railway Museum near the cemetery, our guide told us it might be closed and was not at all interested in us going.
The Jeath Museum is interesting but most of the photos have badly faded and there is very little information. So the museum you need is the Thailand Railway Museum, which I visited several years ago and made the long journey from Bangkok worthwhile.
My friends were very disappointed in this tour and it was expensive.
Guide’s English not that clear and didn’t offer much information.
Lunch is buffet style but not the best, kept warm not hot.
Driver however was excellent.
Do research carefully before you book a trip.

My spouse and I visited this site and would not recommend it. It is fairly expensive and is now a tourist trap where the canoe driver/pusher, is stopping at family owned shops to make extra money. Although we said, we are not shoppers we are here to visit but our comment went of deaf ears. Take the Youtube visit and save your dough.

Great trip If you don't mind sitting in a dirty, inadequately air condition bus with broken suspension for 8 hours. I've been on over 30 Viator trips - this is by far the worst experience I've ever had. The entire trip was designed to sucker you out of your money. Our tour guide kept on pushing us to buy things which he was obviously making commission from. I would have pay this trip cost in order not to go - what a waste of a day.

Dear Readers,
Whilst everyone is entitled to their opinion, don’t be fooled by Nan L as that is not a Review.
Some people enjoy grossly exaggerating and/or being completely inaccurate (Nan L would fall into this category, unfortunately). Regrettably, Nan L has not reviewed a trip which in any way benefits a potential customer who is considering this very ‘popular’ tour (‘popular’ according to other traveller’s Reviews. But Nan L has written some comments to give himself/herself a feeling of power (thanks to the ability of hiding behind anonymity).

The day started with a 6.10am pick up from our hotel. The guide was friendly and enthusiastic about the day explaining clearly what to expect. It was great to see how the canals were used so many years ago, but now it is more of a traditional market. The bridge was surreal, after watching the film as a child so many years ago to seeing the real thing today and learning more about the history behind the building of the bridge and what lives it cost. You also visit the cemetery during this trip which again makes you realise this actually happened.

Best thing was the tour starting early so if you plan on going on this tour, use this operator.... 30 minutes ahead of the throngs every step of the way. Our guide was nice. The van comfortable. It's just the sites weren't that great. The shopping stop at the coconut place (it wasn't a farm or really anything but a few overpriced trinkets and a couple ladies boiling down palm sap).
The long tail boat was fun. The floating market had a couple nice photo ops since we got there early but then it was jam packed just minutes later.... Probably would have been amazing a few decades ago when real conference was taking place but now seemed like a wet, small night market with a dash of charm. Did find a nice coffee place across the main street called "gossip cafe " (or similar) - cheap with tasty teas and smoothies. This turned out to be the highlight of the floating market for us.
The cemetery was well taken care of. The museum less so but some cool pics and artifacts.
The bridge was really just a bridge. I know it signifies more too many but we just didn't feel it.

Hi Matthew,
Thanks for your comments on the floating market and River Kwai tour.
The tour does start early as it’s a long day and a great distance travelled. The coconut farm is also a rest room stop for most as it’s a distance to the market. Thanks for your personal feedback on this though.
Great that you enjoyed the floating market and also found a local cafe for you to enjoy. The market has grown and more tourists do visit this on a daily basis.
For the bridge on the River Kwai, every person has their own emotion of what happened here and it’s the highlight of the second part of the day.
Regards
Nick

There was prompt communications from the tour operator,Tour East that made me feel professional and comfortable about them. We were promptly picked up at 6am from the hotel and went on to pick up the rest of the guests for that morning. It felt more like a private tour as there were 7 in total plus the tour guide and the driver. A slightly expensive tour though.
The tour guide, I forgot her name, sorry ! spoke quite well in English and was humorous that made us laugh from time to time. She provided enough trivia on the history and culture of Thailand which was good insight.
The drive to the floating market is a relatively long, 100kms (62miles) which took over an hour. Our first quick stop just outside city limits was a natural salt making unit, later we took a halt at a Coconut Sugar unit. We witnessed the process and also got to taste some of it, yummmm.
We took a James Bond boat to get to the floating market. You can buy mementos and memorabilia. You can bargain at the market, starting at 1/4th of the quoted value. Taking a boat into the floating market is not part of the tour, so it has to be paid separately, would recommend to take it that you have come such a long way to experience it, I guess its around 100THB per person. You can again bargain on the sellers on the boats. You can get yourself a coconut ice cream and enjoy the boat ride.
After this you head to the JEATH war museum before lunch.
Lunch buffet was good enough, had a decent spread. Please do mention your meal preferences to the tour guide before you start the tour. She did check with us on our meal preferences and made necessary arrangements for anyone vegetarian.
After lunch we headed to the Bridge over river Kwai. Again the tour guide provide very good insight into the history. Having seen the movie, seeing the bridge in real is quite a feeling. You can relish some good smoothies and ice creams around the bridge. If you are lucky and in time, you can even get to see a train.
It all ended with a quick nap and short break mid way during the long drive back.
Overall, a good full day trip and a memorable one too. Would recommend it someone who would like to experience one of the top 5 floating markets and a bit of history.

Having watched the film with my Dad several times, it's a place I wanted to visit - Bridge on River Kwai (both for my departed Dad and myself). I was not disappointed. History was brought to light - I felt a sense of peace, I was moved but the images of the Men who fought for peace and freedom, something we take for granted. I felt tormented by the suffering in the images and the realisation that humans can be so cruel. I event felt like an intruder myself when walking on the bridge but I know without those brave people we would not have the luxury of freedom. If anything, it gave me the opportunity to pay my respects and whisper a "Thank you" for their bravery and sacrifice. A true historic place!
One of the things I wanted to see most was the floating markets (as I'd heard so much about it). I wasn't disappointed at all. I loved the buzz of the tourists and locals as they bartered and tried to get a sale from boats passing by. If you've never experienced a waterways traffic jam then this will be your first! A must experience.

Hi there, in the small print is a list of the hotels that are NOT included for pick-up. We stayed at the rembrandt and hotel was on pickup list. If you go through process of booking, same as one with train journey, then it shows list of hotels before you confirm and pay
Enjoy!

Is this trip ok for older people? My grandma can walk sit and stand but if seats are too low it can be an issue.

Hi
It can prove tricking getting and out of the boat used for the floating market and the seats are very low down, they are more like a canoe than a boat - the rest of the trip is done by car or on foot.
Do you pick up from airbnb? I will be staying by Sathorn 11 street, South Sathorn Street.

I don't recollect seeing any pier pickup location listed. I would suggest you write to them and enquiry if they pick up from a specific location.
Because the tour groups are small, they might be able to accommodate your request
