About
Gokyo Valley Trek is offers magnificent views of the mountain peaks and the Ngozumpa Glacier– the largest in Nepal’s Himalayas. The view of this region is associated with the soaring views of the most popular mountains in Nepal, at an altitude of 8,000 m such as Cho Oyu, Everest, Lhotse and Makalu which are clearly visible from Gokyo Ri above Gokyo Lake. One of the most remarkable features is the views of the tremendous ice ridge between Cho Oyu and Gyachung.
After landing at Lukla’s airport, the adventure begins. We spend the next few days trekking and interacting amongst the mountain people also known as Sherpa’s, we stay at local lodges and trek into the heartland of their villages. We will pass Buddhist monasteries with the views of Everest and other snow towering mountains getting closer by the day. After trekking to Gokyo Ri (5,483 m), we return at a leisurely pace back to Namche and Lukla for our flight back to Kathmandu.

- caoimheo4300 contributionsEBC-Solo Traveller14 Day Everest Base Camp Trek Being a young solo traveller, I did a lot of research into the different trekking companies available, prior to picking Ace. As I wanted to ensure I picked a company that prioritised my safety, whilst also helping me achieve my goal. I also wanted to complete this trek within a group (but not one too large), as personal I thought I would enjoy the trip more being within a group (talking to others/ sharing experiences), compared to completing the trek alone with a guide. I am incredible happy that I picked Ace and could not fault them. Prior to the trip, Ace were brilliant at answering all my questions, responding very promptly to my emails. On arrival, I was picked up from the airport and brought to my hotel, where they helped check me in. We then had a "Pre-trip Briefing", where the trip was explained in more details and all questions were answered. The trip itself was nothing short of amazing. From the breath-taking views, to the endless giggles and laughter, this was a trip I will never forget. Our guides (Madan and Jit) were brilliant, going above and beyond everyday and always with a smile on their faces. From educating us on the local culture, to providing advice on preventing altitude sickness, advising us on which foods to eat and avoid (to avoid getting ill), to constantly ensuring we were feeling ok and had enough water. Between Madan and Jit, they always ensured there was one guide at the front of the group setting an appropriate walking pace (to help with acclimatisation) and another guide at the back of the group, making sure nobody was left behind. Both guides brought an incredible infectious uplifting and positive spirit to the group. Always up for a chat and a giggle and really made us feel like one big family. I truly can not fault Ace and I am incredible grateful to Madan and Jit for everything they did. I could not recommend Ace more!Written October 10, 2024
- Spicysmurf960 contributionsThis is only in regards to trips and not treks.I want to start by saying I cannot speak to the mountain treks and that this review is limited to the Nepal trips and if you wish to extrapolate that is your prerogative. I am just here to say that I think the trip planning was poor (there was no consideration of the 10 day forecast or the like in considering the order in which to go certain places). There was little communication about what to expect or an attempt to garner my input in the planning and much of the time in the execution. Despite being a private tour I felt I did not have that much latitude and while hindsight is 20/20 I could have easily planned a trip that would have knocked my socks off. Whether it was laziness or an inability to deviate from the plan (which does not appear to be the case because in choosing the trip I sat down with Ace and deviated from the plan). The positives were that the local guides were great and Kathmandu was a lot of fun. But at the end of the day I was disappointed enough to write this review. There were also some astonishing highlights and I saw a good deal of Nepal (but for quite a pretty penny and not in the way I would have liked to).Written October 10, 2024
- 548lealab0 contributionsAmazing trip!I had the pleasure of doing EBC with Ace over the last 14 days! We had Raj K as our guide but also got to trek with Sher, Milan and Sunil who were all outstanding and made me feel very taken care of. From the start of the trek Prem briefed us about the weather and conditions of the trail we would be encountering and made sure we were made aware of everything. Raj and the crew took care of us the whole trek and made sure we had everything we needed, had fun, and had the best experience possible. We had an amazing trek and would highly recommend Ace to anyone for their trekking adventures! Thanks to Raj and the team for making it a once in a lifetime experience!Written October 9, 2024
- Expedition2371990 contributionsEverest Base Camp - #1 guide PasangFrom arriving at 1am in Kathmandu and being found by Pasang our guide from Ace the Himalayas we felt welcomed and in good hands immediately. We experienced several days of challenging rain and monsoon at the beginning of our trek, our guide Pasang Dawa Sherpa made our safety and well being a priority. ATHs planning and organising of our trip was faultless. Porters Rabin and Bradip were exceptional, caring and fun. They worked very hard for us. Pasang monitored our health as we gained altitude and assisted where needed. He has many years of experience in the Himalayas and the bonus was he was from Lukla so a local in his own back yard. Prem and his crew are a well oiled machine we could not have had a better experience. Great friendships were made on our trip, thank you Ace the Himalayas.Written October 9, 2024
- Tourist150298372030 contributionsAmazing experience with Ace the HimalayaI had an amazing trekking experience with Ace the Himalya to Everest Base Camp. Our trip was not without setbacks due to an unexpected snowstorm and landslides from exceptionally heavy rain but through it all our lead guide Raj Neupani and assistant guide Sauman provided expert guidance and support. It would not have been possible for us to make this trek without the support of the Porters - huge shout to Peshal (lead porter), Narayan, Gombu, Dipak, Sher & Putra. The front office staff back in Katmandu are amazing as well and put up with all my random questions in the weeks leading up to the trip. Ace has a well-established website with lots of helpful information easily accessible. They are truly about making the logistics as easy as possible so you can focus on having the experience of a lifetime which I did. They did with constantly changing logistics due to unpredictable weather and I would not want there jobs. I would highly recommend going with Ace the Himalya for your next trekking experience in Nepal.Written October 9, 2024

They had organised everything to the T and were so professional in managing our bookings and requests. Our guide Madan(Maddy) and Jeet made our hike exceptional and supported/guided through the challenging days making them so seamless. I highly recommend ACE and specially our guides who made our trip so memorable.Written October 9, 2024
- 317jayaj0 contributions11 Friends, 11 days to Everest Base CampTo walk in nature is to witness a thousand miracles, Ram our trek guide and Kalika the assistant guide and 6 other porters who are extremely knowledgeable, so patient, very encouraging, always ready to help with absolutely anything. We booked a few months ago with ace the Himalayas, to have a best experience, the only thing we requested the company to give us their best guides and Ram is the BEST. Upon arrival we were warmly welcomed with the garlands from the airport, dropped us at the Thamel house in Kathmandu, the evening briefing with the CEO of the company Prem, had left all 11 of us with zero questions. Ram and the team are very well trained to navigate through the trails, provide guidance on altitude sickness, and offer insights into their cultural and historical significance of the places we visited. They also help arrange accommodation, food, filtered water, etc. I was very much impressed with their commitment to take us to (the Everest Base Camp) what they promised. While almost 250 plus trekkers had to climb down without reaching their goal due to bad weather conditions. We had no internet, no power, Ram is our Power, he looks at the sky every morning and makes a weather prediction, give us an insight on what gear to pack in our day backpack. Ram’s communication, hotel management, photographic and tourism skills are nothing but an AWE! He is also a great dancer and fun to talk to. Very modest and humble person. I would highly recommend Ace the Himalayas and Ram as the guide for sure.Written October 9, 2024

- 127ravig0 contributionsAce the Himalaya - Best Team for EBC TrekWe are referred to Ace the Himalaya by a friend of ours who have used Ace the Himalaya in the past. Now we are back in USA and can say with certainty that we are more than 100% happier with service they have provided for our EBC trek. We have seen all weather conditions during our EBC trek including few sunny days, couple of rainy days and we also got stuck in the middle of snow storm for couple of days. These conditions obviously created some challenges and needed some adjustments to the planning. Due to snow storm we had to use up one additional day on our way to EBC, This prompted for some adjustments to our existing itinerary. Our lead guide Ram has provided all the possible options given the conditions and made sure we are in better positioned to reach our final goal EBC. I cannot thank enough how our guide Ram and assistant guide Kalika have taken care of the situation and gave us the best possible experience. As the trek towards EBC progressed we opted to use helicopter instead of trekking down to accommodate lost days during our hike up. Ace the Himalaya management team and our guide Ram has handled this change gracefully and adjusted our subsequent accommodations etc perfectly to meet our needs. We can truly see “customer is god” mindset from Ram, Kalika and the supporting porter team. I am planning to take another Himalayan trekking adventure with my family for summer 2025, and Ace The Himalaya in the only one I will use without any second thoughts. Overall I would say Ace the Himalaya has great back end management team with very strong and exceptional team on the group. Thank you Ram and Kalika for giving us the wonderful experience during our EBC trip. Thank youWritten October 8, 2024
- Trip412507041060 contributionsAce the Himalaya EBC - Ram and Kalika are the best!We had the best experience with Ace the Himalaya on our EBC hike. Ram and Kalika were our guides and I cannot say enough good things about them. They took care of our group's needs very well - food, accommodation, safety, flexible planning... You name it and they both went above and beyond for us. Very professional guides yet so friendly who made our trip a very memorable one. Would highly recommend Ram and Kalika as guides. They are the best!! Our trip would not have been successful and happier without them. Highly recommend them!Written October 8, 2024
- 646sumitp0 contributionsEverest Base Camp TrekThe trip was very well organized by Ace The Himalaya Company. Sherpa (Guide): Nima, is the best at his job. With 20 years of climbing and trekking multiple mountains in the Himalayas, he is the one to have by your side during trek. His in-depth knowledge of the routes and trekking in various weather conditions makes him the right person to have by your side during any mountain trek. His Porters, Charta Rai and Teak Bahadur are two of the best porters one can have on their trek trip. They go above and beyond to help carry your luggage and provide support in everything else you need help with. With their years of experience you won’t be lost on the trek on any given day when trekking with them. Nima, Charta, and Teak know exactly when to modify the itinerary should there be sudden weather related changes in your trek route, to make sure you and your group are safe and in good health to make the most of your experience. Please “ALWAYS” tip your Guide and Porter as the “TIP” means a lot to them and their families. It provides for their needs and necessities during off season when trekking is not busy. It is their only source of income. PLEASE TIP THEM GENEROUSLY. I guarantee you they will go above and beyond to take care of you and your group in every way possible! If possible, please ask for Nima, Charta and Teak to be on your team for trek, when booking through Ace the Himalayas.Written October 7, 2024
- haileyk6200 contributionsIt really is the trip of a lifetimeFirst of all: wow. I waited a couple of days to write this review after my trip was over so I could think of a good way to summarize my experience. Going into the trip I admit I was relatively unprepared—while I had all of the necessary supplies and physical conditioning necessary to complete the trek, I don’t think I expected to have such a rewarding & fulfilling experience in just under two weeks. Aside from the breathtaking views along the trek, our guides Maddy & Jit supplemented our trek by being the most supportive, resourceful, and overall exceptional humans to lead us on our journey. Between their leadership and the support of the porters, and everyone else from Ace that was supporting from Kathmandu, we were able to complete our trip safely and with minimal anxiety even in a Himalayan snowstorm. If you’re looking to take a trip to EBC, or really anywhere in the region, book through Ace.Written October 6, 2024

They have had many many years of experience and were extremely knowledgeable, kind and helpful. They were able to modify the trip to our needs, and we’re very responsive to our requirements along the way. Amazing experience with Ace The Himalaya that far exceeded all my expectations.
After being in touch with the Ace The Himalaya office (Sujan and Rupesh) prior to booking they provided me with detailed info and answered any questions I had immediately. I felt confident in my choice of trekking provider and route.
I did the Gokyo lakes and Renjo pass trek solo, slightly before the main season starts. My guide Madan (Maddy) and porter Jit did an absolutely outstanding job from start to finish, with detailed daily briefings on what’s to come, all in perfect easy to understand English.
Ace trekking staff go above and beyond, providing delicious apples after dinner daily, checking blood oxygen levels, and making sure they are available 24/7 for any discomforts or questions.
When trekkers on trips with other providers saw this work ethic they actually mentioned “wow, this is 5 star service, best trekking company ever!”
If you are planning to trek in Nepal, reach out to Ace The Himalaya, they are absolutely fantastic, zero complaints!
Thanks again to Maddy and Jit, you guys rock!

Ace is a very professionally run trekking company. Like any good company it's greatest asset is its employees. The booking process and communication while planning the trip was excellent. Once we arrived in Katmandu the employees were very friendly and a joy to work with. The trek to Gokyo was fantastic and made all the easier by the support staff. Our porters Sukre and Hira took our bags in the morning with a smile and a greeting and the bags were at our accomodation every evening. Milan, our guide and Santosh, assistant guide were fantastic. Milan was informative of the route and history and told us interesting facts and stories. They both anticipated our every need and accommodated the different paces within our group. When the hike was over it felt like we were leaving family. I cannot thank them enough for making our trip so memorable.

Our experience with Ace the Himalaya from start to finish was exceptional. Sujan was fabulous and helped us plan the trek that was best for our group of 5 people and was always available to answer our many questions along the way. For the trek itself, we could not have had a better guide than Milan, assistant guide Santosh, and porters Sukre and Hira. They took amazing care of us, provided great insight on the area, the people, and culture, and helped all of us achieve our goal of reaching Gokyo. It was an honor to get to know them and spend 10 days trekking with them.

Amazing views with the amazing guide(Ramesh Karki) and porter(Auishe Rai)
They helped me through every step of the way and I couldn't think of a more perfect duo!
Also during the trip, there were many landslide which blocked off some of the passages, they didn't hesitate to ensure that I was always in a safe position when transitioning during any difficult places!
They were always ensuring my personal safety was never at risk!
Will be coming back again for the Annapurna Circuit in future and would love to have them guide me again!
