About
The Upper Mustang Trek bring in to the forbidden of Kingdom (hidden valley) would be part of the Tibetan empire and is therefore closely tied. Mustang trek is an observation of the hidden valleys of Upper Mustang, nestled between Tibet and the Himalayas – a place different from the rest of the world. The walled city of Lo-Manthang used to be a part of the Tibetan Kingdom of Gungthang until the 1830s. The early history of Lo-man thang is embellished in myths and legends rather than recorded facts. Even though Upper Mustang is changing it still surprises the visitors with its stunning vista and the stubborn way it clings to its unique culture. Crumbing artworks are slowly being restored further enhancing the beauty of this region. Crumbling monasteries have been rebuilt and filled with the sound of shaved-headed children in robes studying ancient Buddhist ways and teachings. There are around 275 houses in Lo-Mangthang with four castes

        Experience of a lifetime
Everest base camp trek is challenging in more ways than one but it's worth every hard moment for the highs! Not only of completing it but of being in company of the porters and guide: Wangchhu. He was so calm, reassuring, patient and knowledgeable and we felt safe in his hands. His energy meant we connected with him in such a beautiful way and his own personal life story that he shared stole our hearts. The teahouses we stayed in were surprisingly nice considering how high up you are and we always had decent food and drinks available. The company provided bags, sticks, sleeping bags and duffle coats that were all good quality. Don't overthink it just book - and you will be very lucky and grateful if you do it with Wangchhu as your guide!

        Annapurna Circuit Trek
(+) Our guide was Amrit and our porter, Pemba. They were absolutely exceptional at their jobs. Amrit clearly is a very experienced guide, he knew every step of the way, even if blindfolded. He was always easily available for inquiries, incredibly punctual and made sure we completed the trek safely. They have a very good high altitude acclimatization itinerary, including day treks to 3800m/ 4500m/ 5000m and going back to lower levels, so that you can ease into higher altitudes, diminishing chances of acute mountain sickness (AMS). Our bags always arrived at the tea houses before us. They've managed to transport my larger backpack, which I had left in Kathmandu, all the way to Pokhara, free of cost. This is a trek with a lot of infrastructure, so expect to have easily available food, hot shower, bed, toilets all the way. (-) During the first 3-4 days of the trek, you'll be walking on dusty roads about 70-80% of the time. Our first contact with Sherpa Expeditions and its owner, Ram, was really upsetting. He took us for a "trip meeting" in a dark room, where he explained our trekking plan in 10-15 minutes, clearly rushed, looking at a computer doing something else. It just felt like he wanted to get rid of us as quickly as possible. By the end of it, we had a lot of doubts, Ram definitely couldn't convey a sense of security. In our booked itinerary, on the last day, we were supposed to get a jeep from Ulleri Village, that would take us to Pokhara. Eventually, we discovered that Ram had instructed the guide to take us all the way to Nayapul and get the jeep from there, which meant walking extra 3-4 hours. Our guide told us that he hadn't received enough money for the Ulleri jeep. Things ended up working out, so thankfully we double-checked that. Overall: Communication with Ram is honestly very bad, he's careless and rude. Although they ask for +/- USD 1100 for the trek, you'll end up paying extra 400-500 USD on "hidden" costs. They make you feel responsible for paying decently the guide and porter, since most of the 1100 USD won't be going towards them. Besides that, the trekking itself and the work of the guide and porter was exceptional. Relevant Information: - 25.000 NPR per person is suggested for additional expenses (extra foods, soft drinks, hot shower) - You'll need to tip both the guide and the porter. The suggested amounts are USD 180 for the guide and USD 140 for the porter per person. We were really upset by this, because we hadn't planned on spending this much extra cash - We were able to charge our phones for free in all tea houses, except for the Tilicho Lake Base Camp, so make sure to bring a power bank - Hot shower costs between 150-200 NPR and is available in all tea houses, except for High Camp - They provide sleeping bags, hiking poles and down jackets for free - They suggest taking cramp-ons (our trek was in May) - All tea houses have proper beds and bathroom available, which can be inside or outside the room. There's no heating in any of the accomodations.

A great experience from start to finish!
We had an incredible trip and were looked after very well every step of the way, from booking and planning with Ram to hiking and climbing with Gombu Sherpa and our amazing porter Nima. We also completed the Island Peak climb which was very challenging as our first altitude climbing experience but Gombu Sherpa was very patient and informative and made sure we felt safe and supported every step of the way. Lots of positive energy and everyone was always very approachable with any questions or issues. I hope to return to the Himalayas in the future and will definitely be looking to book with the same team again.

        Great experience with Sherpa Expedition
My friend and I had a great experience with Sherpa expedition and trekking. We initially booked following an informed discussion with Ram, who manages the head office and is very knowledgeable / able to provide answers to all questions. Our trek was led by Gombu Sherpa and assisted by Nima who managed our bags. The entire trip from start to finish was well managed and organised by Gombu. Even on our hike of island peak his expert knowledge allowed us to summit even with limited climbing and ropes experience. Would definitely recommend the company and if we come back to Nepal in the future we will book with Sherpa Expedition and Trekking.

        Great tour and guide
Such an incredible experience. I recently completed the Annapurna Circuit Trek and had the pleasure of being guided by Dawa Sherpa. He demonstrated exceptional professionalism, knowledge, and enthusiasm that greatly enhanced the entire trekking experience. Daw had a good knowledge of the region. They provided fascinating insights into the local culture, history, and geography, making each day’s trek not just a physical journey but an educational one as well. Their ability to navigate the challenging terrain with ease and confidence made us feel safe and well-cared for throughout the trek. It was highly organized and efficient. From managing permits and accommodations to coordinating meals and transportation, everything ran smoothly.

Incredible trek, incredible Sherpa and team
Such an incredible adventure with the best Sherpa and porters we could have asked for! Whilst the trek was challenging at times as expected, the bonds we made as a group along with the most amazing views, helped to make this challenge a once in a lifetime experience. Thank you to Ngawang Wangchhu Sherpa who was so uplifting and inspiring! The team worked so hard and I am very grateful for the memories.

        Himalayan Adventure
I have no hesitation in recommending the Sherpa Trekking and Expedition company. The help I received in planning and organising my trek with Ram was second to none. He replied promptly, courteously and helpfully to all my questions. My guide was Nima Ongdi Sherpa, and my porter was his younger brother Pasang. I was lucky and privileged to have these Sherpa brothers looking after me. Nima was concerned at all times for my safety and wellbeing. He paced the route and amended the plan to suit me. Because of his professional care, I acclimatised comfortably and I enjoyed every section of this beautiful and challenging trek. Pasang was always joyful and attentive. They were both marvellous company during the hikes and in the long, quiet evenings in the lodges. Sadly, at my age, this is probably my only Himalayan adventure, but if I do return I will choose this company and insist on having Nima and Pasang on my team! Su P.

An incredible & unforgettable experience ❤️
Thank you SO MUCH for this amazing experience. We were lucky to be on this journey with the best guides alive, Lakpa and Pasang accompanied by a very friendly, always helpful team of porters Rangdu, Nuru & Pasang. From the first to the last moment they made this experience extremely memorable and we feel so grateful to call them our friends now. Lakpa was always there and made the greatest effort to make us feel as comfortable as possible. And he succeeded. Even when it came to difficulties regarding the altitude, he could not only offer great medical guidance but also emotional support and made us feel at home in an environment so different from our actual home. Him and Pasang always had a smile on their faces, sending positive vibes throughout the whole day, every day. Always looking out for us and our well-being. Thank you so much. It’s been amazing.

        Lovely Langtang / Gosaikund experience
A trek for all levels of fitness. Fabulous scenery, steep, and gradual downs and ups and plenty of great views. Not busy either. Seemed like an almost perfect time of year to go. The schedule was very flexible so we were able to adapt things, including accommodations, appropriately as we went along. Plenty of highlights although Tserki Ri stands our for me, just on account of the 360 degree views from the stunning viewpoint. Guide Praveen was great. Always friendly, and as one might expect, very knowledgeable. Nothing was too much trouble, and his service, and patience was impeccable. Chabbi, porter, was fun to be around too, and coped extremely well with our luggage, and any other requests we could throw at him! Both were a pleasure to spend time with. Ram set things up impeccably, and I wouldnt hesitate to arrange another trip through him and Sherpa. Thanks all.

        Langtang & ABC
I had the best time with my guide Ramesh! An absolute joy to walk with for 18 days through langtang and ABC. He is full of knowledge and experience. He knew the ins and outs of the routes and always picked the best places the stay! Entertaining and a real pleasure to have him guide me on a truely memorising journey! The company was also amazing providing me any equipment that was needed and willing to change itineraries if desired. Would highly recommend. I will be back!

Trek made enjoyable with excellent guide and porters!
We (a group of 4 ladies) have just completed the Annapurna Base Camp trek with our guide Dawa Sherpa and porters Kedar and Hari and they have been an excellent crew throughout the trek! The enthusiasm, support and fun they brought kept us going and made this trip a really memorable and enjoyable one! We would definitely recommend this tour agency and especially these 3 members to anyone interested in the trek. Also thanks to Ram who addressed our queries promptly before we embarked on our journey.

        A must do
Thank you Ram, Pasang and Kumar. An Amazing adventure. Sherpa Expeditions and Trekking longevity in the business must mean they are doing something right. They are a company big enough to cater for all your needs but keep it personal. Pasang was a great guide with a great smile. thanks Kumar for doing all the heavy lifting.

From my very first contact with Ram I felt confident that we were in safe reliable hands. Due to covid we had to rearrange our original dates and Ram was very accommodating.
On arrival in Kathmandhu we were met at the airport as promised and taken to our hotel, then to the offices where we went through the details of our trek and met our guide Raju. We had also opted for a day tour of Kathmandhu which was excellent, the owner took us on the tour and we felt me maximised our day.
Our trek to Upper Mustang was better than expected, the tea houses were all wonderful, again we had to make adjustments on the trek due to some of our requests and also due to events outside of our control. Raju responded quickly to these to ensure that we were still able to see all of Upper Mustang and return safely to Pokhara.
I would not hesitate to recommend Sherpa Expedition and Trekking and will definitely be back to explore some more of the Himalayas with them.

We did Ghorepani / Poon Hill over 6 days
Excellent time of year to go
Quiet, clear dry days - cool at night
      Easy to travel, eat, organise

Christmas in the mountains - I don’t know why more families don’t do it at this time of year
      We had a family of 5 - we had a blast !

      Excellent management by Ram

Excellent guide - Karyan (Guide) and Porters (Kedar, Lila, and Goman)

You could do it without a guide or porters - by why would you - this supports the local economy and life was made easier

      A wonderful family holiday

My wife and I decided to we wanted to hike the Annapurna Circuit on a short timeline, and were disappointed to learn that Nepal recently passed legislation that would require us to hire a guide. We were hoping for a more romantic get-away and feared that having a guide as a third wheel may be awkward at best and intrusive at worst, but after a 6 day adventure, we couldn't be happier with our experience.

Sherpa Expeditions met us at our hotel upon arrival in Nepal and had all our paperwork in order. They also helped us find good but affordable insurance in case we required a helicopter evacuation. They explained our itinerary and then made sure any flights, taxis, and jeep rides were arranged to get us where we needed to be on time.

Our guide, Pravin Jimba (definitely request him if you can) not only helped us navigate the terrain and get the best rooms at the best teahouses, but more importantly he helped us experience the Himalayas with a more Nepalese perspective. He knew when to give us space, but also when to step in and encourage us to push ourselves at the higher altitudes, even during a rest day, so that we were as prepared as possible to cross Thorang La Pass at 17,500' with minimal acclimation. I can't stress enough that the experience would have been way more uncomfortable without his expert guidance.

It was the trip of a lifetime we hoped it would be.
