About
The Khopra Ridge is located away from the busier trails of Annapurna region but provides equally remarkable views of the Himalayas including Dhaulagiri, Annapurna South, Fang and Nilgiri. Another attraction of our trek is the holy Kaire Lake, which requires a little wandering away from the Kopra Ridge. We begin our trip in Kathmandu with visits to the UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Next day, we fly to Pokhara, drive to Syauli bazaar and begin trekking from there. We leave the main trail after Tadapani and for the next few days walk along a remote trail while staying at the community tea-houses. The 13-day trip is suitable for those who wish to enjoy the grandeur of Mt. Annapurna while also taking pleasure in the solace of a more remote trail. Complete with unique heritage, culture and breathtaking landscape, the trip will be well worth our time.

About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- lorrained6860 contributionsEasy short trek in NepalI can’t praise this company enough…..from helping me plan the detail some months ago until the team waved me off at the hotel today. My trek was quite easy over 4 days and with Sankar as my guide & Sunkit as my porter I got the full experience. The 2 guys were brilliant to walk with as I was travelling solo and I feel I learnt a lot about Nepal from them…..accommodation was as expected, food was excellent & plentiful which together with travel within Bepal arranged for me, I could not have asked for more…..I will be back and will keep in contact with the company in the meantime. The welcome dinner plus farewell lunch with Raj was a nice touch too…..not sure I’ve lost any weight!!Written January 14, 2025
- rishabhghuwalewala0 contributionsTrek to EBC - November 2024Had a terrific experience at the Everest Base Camp trek. One of the most beautiful hikes out there which offers amazing views of Everest and the neighboring Himalayan peaks, along with the chance to meet fellow hikers from around the world. Was extremely happy to have organized this trek through Himalayan Glacier. The team looked after me from the day I arrived in Kathmandu till the day I left, taking care of absolutely everything in between. Special mention goes to my guide Dhan Raj Gurung who supported me throughout the trek and made sure everything was looked after! Highly recommend doing EBC through Himalayan Glacier, even for first timers. The team there will make sure you have the best experience possible !Written December 29, 2024
- jonsL3840PG0 contributionsNepal Trek to Makalu Base CampI thoroughly enjoyed my trek to Makalu base camp with Exped Nepal. Ram is so knowledgeable, and his high level of commitment to his clients was very reassuring. Growing up hiking and climbing in Colorado, I was amazed at how demanding the trails are in the Himalayas. It was great to have a confident guide. We met in Kathmandu and traveled together for 12 days, I enjoyed Ram’s company and our conversations. It was meaningful to get to know someone who grew up and spent their life in the mountains of Nepal. I would recommend Exped Nepal to anyone looking to trek in Nepal or TibetWritten December 17, 2024
- patriciarR6100VP0 contributionsExperience of a LifetimeOur EBC Short Trek with Himalayan Glacier was truly unforgettable! From start to finish, the team provided exceptional, personalized assistance, ensuring every detail of our booking and preparation was seamless. They guided us with care and expertise, answering every question with patience and clarity. Our guide Pradip was wonderful—extremely knowledgeable, encouraging, and attentive to our needs. His warm personality, great sense of humor, and genuine enthusiasm for the journey made the trek even more enjoyable. He navigated every situation with professionalism and charm, making us feel safe and confident throughout. The trek itself was awe-inspiring, filled with breathtaking landscapes, rewarding challenges, and unforgettable moments of connection with local culture. This was not just a trek but a journey of discovery and resilience. Himalayan Glacier exceeded our expectations at every step. If you're considering the EBC Short Trek, look no further. Highly recommend this outstanding company for the experience of a lifetime!Written December 9, 2024
- G7164FQkentb0 contributionsHimallayn Glacier with Rayuna, Babu, and NevisDon’t even know where to begin…the Himalayan Glacier experience was AWESOMMME from my initial call to Rayuna in the Katmandu office. She made everything effortless - which is why I’ve travelled to Nepal with HG three times. This trip was, by far, the toughest and BEST of all. Babu was my Sherpa and Negis was my Porter. We had the “Dream Team” for sure. Babu took care of EVERYTHING, to include medical, educational, emotional, back pack toting, food, drink, cheerleader, and is especially concerned with safety. He left nothing to chance. A hot tea every morning was nice as well! Negis- very close to becoming a Sherpa/ Guide as well is knowledgeable, strong as an ox and nimble as a mountain goat! I couldn’t have asked for a better pair. They cheered me on every step - even though many steps were very short and slowI would never book another trip without Himalayan Glacier, Rayuna, Baby (he knows everyone by the way!) and Nevis. Not enough words for me to express my appreciation and gratitude.Written December 8, 2024
- jimwJ6534JK0 contributionsEverest Base Camp Trek, overnight - Nov 2024 - WONDERFUL EXPERIENCEHimalayan Glacier Adventure and Travel Company Everest Base Camp Trek, overnight - Nov 2024 When I decided to plan an adventure to trek to Everest Base Camp, I read reviews on a dozen trekking companies, and in conjunction to reviewing their trek packages and price options, I quickly narrowed my research down to 3 companies. I scheduled Zoom meetings with each of them to ask questions and “interview” them. The trekking adventure to Everest Base Camp is a commitment with a time and monetary investment and everyone needs to make sure to find a company that complements them and their goals. It is your adventure after all. Although all 3 companies were very qualified, Himalayan Glacier stood out allowing for more flexibility and customization to our schedule and wants for the trek. I selected Himalayan Glacier and have zero regrets. My buddy and I were anxious for our trip! From the very beginning, Reezu (Adventure Specialist Sales with Himalayan Glacier) was a fantastic communicator. She was always very responsive, detailed, and thorough in her emails, and was happy to respond no matter how many emails I sent with questions. Reezu made me feel to be an important client and she was invested to help made our trek as special as we wanted it to be. From the moment we stepped out from the Kathmandu Airport (KTM), our guide Subash was there to greet us and help us throughout our journey. Subash (14 years with Himalayan Glacier) taught us about the Nepal culture, local religion, monuments, traditions, and the landscape. During our daily treks, Subash was very patient with our needed breaks and us stopping to take a thousand pictures. (Note: in comparison, we overheard another guide with a different company tell their trekkers that when he said it was time to leave, it was time, no questions. As this was our journey, we greatly appreciated Subash’s patience, because having a strict schedule would not have been well received by us and would have negatively affected our experience. Thankfully, we didn’t have to worry about it!). We chatted throughout our trek, but Subash set aside dedicated time after every day’s trek (after dinner) to discuss the plan for the next day, always keeping us informed on expectations, terrain, difficulty, trek length, etc. As we progressed through our trek, Subash was accommodating to some schedule adjustments we wanted including changing 2 nights stay at EBC to 1 night and changing a short hike day and long hike day to be 2 medium hike days. The changes and flexibility were greatly appreciated. Suman was our porter, worked very hard (as did Subash), and had a smile on his face every single time we saw him. Subash and Suman had worked together numerous times in the past which was evident in the professional teamwork effort they put forth. They made our journey even better. All of our agreed contractual items for our trip/trek were maintained throughout our time in Nepal without issue and we appreciate the honesty and commitment from Himalayan Glacier. Not only would I recommend Himalayan Glacier as your trekking company, I would recommend Subash and Suman to be part of your team if you’re able to.Written December 1, 2024
- Ian N0 contributionsHike up to ABC with Deu and SujanHad a really great time hiking. Our guide Deu was super patient and caring, always helped make sure we were okay. He always checked on our health and took time to explain the different parts of the mountains. Our porter sujan was super helpful too. He helped keep our spirits up and made sure we were always eating enough and properly rested for the hike. Without the two of them we wouldn’t have made it. The hike was fun but they made it better.Written November 25, 2024
- chadcD3792XB0 contributionsProfessional and highly recommended. My wife and I recently finished the Annapurna, Manaslu, Tsum Valley, and Tilicho Lake treks all in one trip. It was nearly a month of trekking and it was fantastic. From the fast paced Kathmandu to the rural Tsum Valley, Himalayan Glacier had everything worked out to provide us a safe and enjoyable experience. During the trek we saw other groups and understood that the trekking team made up of the guide and porter made the difference. Our Guide, Babu, was always providing us with insight about what we were seeing, teaching us invaluable core Nepali words, and making sure we were safe and fueled for the upcoming days. Our Porter, Babin, was always helpful and cheerful. Together they made a professional team that were always there for us. I highly recommend Himalayan Glacier.Written November 22, 2024
- terrisB98KU0 contributionsAbsolutely highly recommend! We recently trekked with Himalayan Glacier and went to Tsum Valley, Manaslu, Annapurna, and Telicho Lake. The booking experience was seamless and without confusion. Once in Nepal, we literally had the greatest guide (Babu) and porter (Babin) that Nepal has to offer! They were experienced, professional, kind, and patient. They took time to teach us Nepali culture and language. In addition, we clearly recognized the difference in how well we were treated vs other trekkers we observed along the way. With our guide, there was always a plan; we knew when we would be meeting for breakfast, what time we would be starting the trek each day, how long of a day to expect, etc. He always did his very best to book the best rooms for us which we very much appreciated. We would recommend Himalayan Glacier (especially Babu and Babin!) without hesitation to anyone looking to explore Nepal!Written November 22, 2024

- mansooraL5012GG0 contributionsDream of a LifetimeI did the Everest Base Camp Trek from October 8 to October 15, 2024 with Overnight stay at the base camp and helicopter ride from Gorakshep to Lukla. Oooh, what an amazing experience it was from start to finish. Must tell you I am 71 years and did it solo. From start to finish, Himalayan Glacier was with me every step of the way. Starting from Reezu in reservations to the office manager with whom I had discussions both at the front and the back end, to my guide SHANKAR and the gentleman who hauled by luggage. I completed the trek without any issue and on time like any other person. This expedition was a dream for me and it unfolded just like that. Himalayan Expedition was the only one who offered me a stay at the base camp. Let me tell you, no body was left at the base camp after 4:30 PM and i was left with my thoughts and the unimaginable scenery around me. Well, of course Shankar was there with me along with our cook. Sunset was mesmerizing and what can I say about midnight. It was full moon and the surroundings along with Everest were light up like a Christmas tree. Only downside was that it was too col for me to stay outside for more than 5 minutes at a time around 1:00 AM. Folks, if you are contemplating the EBC trek, do not procrastinate. Go for your dreams like me. It was a memorable experience fo me and Himalayan Glacier was there with me. Cannot be more happy. Thank you, Shankar, Reezu and Rajendra.Written November 8, 2024
- Explorer1018770 contributionsOutstanding service, from booking to departureFrom the time of booking (a yr out from the actual trip), communication began, with one person, who checked in every few months, answered all questions, and increased frequency of communication as our trip got closer. Our guide that would spend the entire trek with us met us at the airport as we arrived in KTM. On day 1 of the trip, we received a full tour of KTM, from a very knowledgeable guide. On day 2 of the trip is when our actual Himalayan adventure began. Our guide handled everything, was warm, friendly, personable, and knowledgeable, having spent 18 yrs in the trekking guide profession. As other tourists were left flailing at lodges or the Lukla airport, we were able to sidestep every hassle that typical tourists face, thanks to the expertise of our guide. He was careful to be mindful of our physical health, and recommended dietary and medicinal tips to improve our trip, and all of our rooms at each stop seemed to have the best (of what was available) amenities. The trip was a 21st bday gift for my son, and when our guide learned of this, he made sure to have the lodge we were staying at that evening prepare a birthday cake for my son, and sing "happy birthday". We ended out trip with a farewell dinner with Mr. Raj, the Operations Manager, where he asked us questions to see if there was anything that could have went better for us on our trip, to which we replied "nothing". Above and beyond customer service, from booking until departure from KTM. I recommend Himalayan Glacier without hesitation for anyone wanting to experience the trip of a lifetime.Written November 5, 2024
- 786sugandhg0 contributionsGreat experience with HG teamI had a lovely experience with Himalayan Glacier team during my Kailash Mansarovar Yatra. I went alone from the US and joined a group of 50 other yatris who came from all over. The guides who accompanied us were very kind, knowledgeable and did the best they could with the facilities available. I’m especially grateful for Ashish and Baburam who took excellent care of me as I was a solo traveler. They made all of us feel at home and after the 14 day yatra I felt like we had made new lifelong friends whom I can rely on. I definitely want to do more treks with them in the future and highly recommend them!Written November 3, 2024
- Go2416250 contributionsAmazing trek and outstanding supportHimalayan Glacier Adventure Company is a first class operation….highly recommend. Excellent service, guides and management all worked tirelessly to make my trip to Nepal exceptional. Any worries or concerns were always addressed immediately. I was supposed to be traveling with a friend but due to medical reasons I ended up coming solo. It was a little intimidating coming to a strange land by myself to do a big trek alone as an older single woman. In my younger years I had more confidence in my abilities. I was met at the airport by Babu who welcomed me with a big smile and he had a driver take me to my hotel because it was 1:30 in the morning. He was waiting for other guests but since it was so late, he sent me ahead so I could get settled. I very much appreciated that as I was very tired. Before leaving for Lukla to begin the trek, I was getting anxious. Babu came to my rescue and helped calm me down. He met me to take me to the airport and direct me to where I needed to catch a helicopter to get to Lukla. He was so kind, reassuring and kept in touch with me during my journey and trek to make sure I was ok. When I arrived in Lukla to start my trek, I was met by my guide, Subash and my porter, Suman. Both had big smiles and could not do enough for me during the trek. Subash was an outstanding guide. He always made sure I was comfortable, had what I needed and helped and encouraged me along the trek. He was smart, kind, thoughtful and always a gentleman. I admired Subash’s ability to step in and help another trekker who was feeling ill and was able to help him feel better. I always felt safe and knew he had my best interest in mind every single day. He would monitor my oxygen levels every night and make sure I ate even when I didn’t feel hungry. He always prepared me for the next day by reviewing the trail, terrain, weather, what to carry in my day pack and anything else I needed to know to be successful. Suman, my porter, had a fabulous smile and great attitude. He was always smiling and always ready to help. I was particularly impressed how he quickly came to my aid and helped me pack my bag when in a moments notice we needed to get to a helicopter to try to leave Lukla. He was such a kind gentle soul and worked so hard every day. The manager, Raj, was instrumental in helping me and 4 other trekkers get out of Lukla when the weather was so bad. I don’t know how he did it, but he got us out when SO many others got stranded there for days. Upon my return to Kathmandu, Raj also helped me with a last minute getaway to Chitwan National Park. The driver did not show up in the morning to pick me up for the airport so Raj got a taxi and personally took me to the airport AND he also accompanied me inside to make sure I wouldn’t miss my flight. He made me feel as though I was his only client yet I knew he was coordinating logistics for the many other client they had as well. Upon my return from Chitwan, my guide, Subash, was waiting for me. It is so wonderful when flying into a strange place with a bit of chaos that you recognize a friendly smiling face. He had to wait for some other people who had been stuck in Lukla that were coming in by helicopter so he sent me with a driver back to the hotel. I travel a lot and good customer service is important to me. This company did not disappoint. From the moment I landed in Nepal, to the moment I left, Himalayan Glacier Company took care of everything for me. They went over and above all of my expectations. If you decide to trek in Nepal, I highly recommend using Himalayan Glacier Adventure Company. Please know, you will be in the best hands possible if you request Subash as your guide. Any challenge that may arise, you can feel confident that he will have your back and you will always be safe, happy and healthy on the mountain.Written October 28, 2024

We recently did the Khopra Ridge Community Trek with Himalayan Glacier and were 100% satisfied with the level of care and support they provided. Our guide Babu was very experienced and we always felt safe and well looked after. This trek is recommended for anyone who wants to avoid the crowds and experience what trekking in Nepal was like decades ago. You will see local communities working the land and living a lifestyle that hasn't changed much in the last 100 years. We felt Himalayan Glacier looked after their staff, which was important for us, these guys work hard and deserve a decent wage. Babu and our porter, Sanket, also made us feel like we were a team, sharing in snacks, playing games, enjoying conversations. This wasn't always the case with other trekking groups I saw. It's the guides and porters who make your trekking experience a success or not, choose wisely.

Trekking to Khopra Ridge was an amazing experience! It is a little off the beaten path, which we appreciated. Not crowded at all. We felt like we had the mountains to ourselves.
The trek was hard, make no mistake. But we expected that, and were delighted to challenge ourselves...and make it!
We had the very best guide in all of Nepal: Pradip. He was young (30) but very experienced. He started over a decade ago with Himalayan Glacier as a porter, and is an accomplished, professional guide. He spoke excellent English and his knowledge of the terrain, culture, mountains, flowers, trees...was exhaustive. We also had the very best porter in all Nepal: Arjun. Retired from the Nepal Army, he had travelled many of places as a UN peacekeeper. He had an infectious smile and was such a great encouragement. Slow, slow, you can do it!
We chose Himalayan Glacier very deliberately. We wanted a Nepalese owned company. Everyone at HG was super. They arranged every detail and everything went smoothly, from airport pick up to departure.
We would both recommend Himalayan Glacier. If you want a great Nepal experience, with a Nepalese company, they are the company for you!
Thank you Pradip. Thank you Arjun. Thank you HG.
Hope to return and see you all again.

If you want an undemanding trek off the beaten path, then you should choose the Khopra Ridge Community Trek with Himalayan Glacier. It is a refreshing alternative to the well-travelled Annapurna circuit. You won’t see very many other trekkers on this route. Often we were the only ones hiking along the trail. But you will see stunning views of the Himalayas without climbing exhausting heights.
I believe Himalayan Glacier has the best guides and porters because they treat their employees fairly. Babu, our guide, always looked after us and made sure we were safe. He proudly kept his first aid kit handy. I didn’t see guides from any other companies carrying first aid kits. He was also very friendly and lots of fun. He and our porter, Sanket, taught us the Nepali game called Ludo and we played it together during much of our downtime. Babu was flexible and adjusted our trek after we were unable to visit the Lake on Khopra Ridge. He and Sanket worked well as a team. Sometimes they worked together in the kitchens of our guest houses, ensuring the quality of our food.
I can’t recommend Himalayan Glacier enough because of the high standard of their guides and porters.
