    • Autumn (Sept to November) and Spring (March to May) are the best seasons for the Everest High Passes Trek. The weather is sunny and warm with outstanding views.
    • Your In difficult treks you are likely to walk for 6-8 hours, cross steep hilly terrain and occasional high passes with daily ascend and descend of around 500-1000m. You are likely to be on a remote environment with extreme weather in some days where you might be facing high altitude air with low level of oxygen and only basic facilities on some nights. Previous trekking experience, physical fitness and positive attitude are therefore essential.safety is of paramount concern while traveling with Himalayan Glacier. Please note that your leader has the authority to amend or cancel any part of the itinerary if it is deemed necessary due to safety concerns. Every effort will be made to keep to the above itinerary; however, since this adventure entails travelling in remote mountainous regions, we cannot guarantee that we will not deviate from it. Weather conditions, health condition of a group member, unexpected natural disasters, etc., can all contribute to changes in the itinerary. The leader will try to ensure that the trip runs according to plan, but please be prepared to be flexible if required.
    • Please note that often the Kathmandu-Lukla-Kathmandu flight gets delayed by a few hours or may even be canceled for one, two, or more days due to unfavorable weather conditions. Such conditions may arise even in the best seasons. Hence, in such cases, you must be prepared for long waits either at Kathmandu or Lukla airports, as this can happen either at the start or end of the trek or even both! We will do our best to avoid such delays, and arrange the next flight for you. We also organize Helicopter rescue in such conditions, if it is available and upon request by our clients. The helicopter charges around USD 3500 and it can lift 4-5 persons per flight. Still, we suggest you to be prepared for possible delays/cancellations, and if possible to come with some extra buffer days (1-2 days) at the end of the trip to accommodate such delays. If everything runs smoothly and you still have a few days of your buffer days left then you may even engage yourself in optional activities which can be arranged by Himalayan Glacier upon request. The optional activities may include visiting places/landmarks of your choice, adventure sports, shopping, etc. In case the flight delay/cancellation happens at the start of trip and it goes so long that it disturbs your onward travel schedule, you are free to choose an alternative trip such as a trek in the Annapurna, Langtang, or any other region. If you are not interested in the alternative trip and would rather wait for your original preferred trip, you are welcome to wait in Kathmandu for as many days as it takes to get a flight to Lukla. However, please note that there will be no refund, if you lose time waiting at the airport and do not take an alternative tour or you only do a short trek later due to time limitation. If the cancellation happens before the trip, we will provide you accommodation and lunch in a guesthouse in Kathmandu. In case of the flight delay/cancellation after finishing of the trek, you will be responsible for all your expenses. Please also note that you will not be entitled to any refund for the services (such as hotel, transport, flight, etc.) included in the package that you would not use later.
    • We will be accommodated in Yatri Suites & Spa or Hotel Moonlight or similar in Kathmandu and teahouses during the trek. All accommodations are on twin-shared basis. Single supplement will be served on request and will cost an additional USD 550. Himalayan Glacier will arrange rooms with attached washrooms; however, teahouses in some places only have shared washing and toilet facilities. Also note that single rooms are readily available in Kathmandu and the trekking regions at lower elevation but it might be difficult to find them at higher elevations.

Bad experience with Himalayan Glacier :(
Feedback from my trip to Mera Peak: April 22nd - May 8th To commemorate my 60th birthday, my husband and children gifted me my dream vacation: a trek to Mera Peak. I meticulously selected the travel agency because this was a once-in-a-lifetime experience, especially since I was traveling solo. I was drawn to Himalayan Glacier for its reputation of being highly professional with both clients and staff (including sherpas and guides). Prashant Raut, my travel advisor, was exceptionally kind, prompt, and supportive. However, my journey turned out to be a complete disappointment: • Contrary to the contract, I wasn't provided with the promised sightseeing tour in Kathmandu with an English-speaking guide and a private vehicle. Instead, the local agent offered it for an additional $120, which I declined. • On Day 2, when I went with the guide to collect my sleeping bag and down jacket, I discovered mine was malodorous and damp, indicating it wasn't properly cleaned after previous use. • Day 3 involved a trip to Lukla. Despite spending a day at the Kathmandu airport, we had to endure a six-hour drive to another airport the following day due to unexpected closures. • At Lukla airport on Day 4, my guide failed to board the plane with me. Although I was told to wait at Lukla (destination), he never arrived, leaving me stranded. Even after starting the journey with a porter as advised by another HG guide on his way to EBC, the guide never caught up and did not show up. The porter couldn't communicate in English. • Day 5 was equally stressful as I continued without the guide, hoping to rendezvous at the next stop. But upon reaching Panggoon, I still hadn't encountered the guide. Frantic, I contacted the US travel agent for assistance but received limited assistance (telephone number of the local agent Bibek Adhikari. Internet connections were difficult. • The guide finally appeared on Day 6, but by then, I was exhausted and had developed altitude sickness, necessitating an extra night's stay at a teahouse. • On the way back some days later, my guide discovered that he had forgotten crampons in Kathmandu, which proved perilous due to heavy snow (Zatra La Pass, 4672m). Fortunately, another guide lent me a pair. However, neither the porter nor the guide had proper equipment for high-altitude hiking. Unacceptable! see photo. • Upon returning to Kathmandu, the porter didn't show up for the expected tip, displaying a lack of respect according to my culture. • Additionally, during the farewell dinner on my last day in Kathmandu, the local agent Bibek displayed rudeness by asking me to relocate at the dining table. • Finally, it's worth noting that my guide didn't even possess a trekking map, forcing me to purchase one despite it being included in the contract. Overall, my trip with Himalayan Glacier was a desolation, marred by incompetence, miscommunication, and lack of professionalism.

      A dream come true!
Selecting Himalayan Glacier turned out to be the most critically beneficial decision of our entire trip. Our actual volition to trek to EBC came to fruition with sustained research and effort over a couple of years, culminating with the decision to go with Himalayan Glacier, its owner Sagar Pandey and his entire team (special mention of Sanket Pandey and Rayuna Shreshtha), as our trekking partner and guide, based on a very convincing YouTube review by a past client. In many ways our tale was more about the unsung mountain heroes than anyone else. The simple honest truth is that we the ordinary flatlanders would not have survived more than a few hours on our own in this realm without the help of these true mountain heroes of the Team Himalayan Glacier: Baburam Khatri (Ultimate leader, main guide), Nikes Khatri (Assistant guide), Baghe "Tiger" Tamang (Porter), and Navraj Khadka Sherpa (Porter). We were so lucky that our team was truly exceptional – we could tell by observing many other groups and their guides during the trek. In fact, a couple of groups, even asked for our team’s reference, taking us on the side, so as to not upset their present guides! These super humans’ physical strength was only out matched by their super human hearts: A continuous outpouring of humanity, selflessness, kindness, compassion and caring – they were like mothers to us babies. They embodied the highest virtue of unconditional giving and caring while expecting nothing in return! If it would have been necessary, they would have carried each one of us down the mountains on their backs, and wouldn’t have given it the slightest second thought. May these mountain heroes and everyone in the Himalayan Glacier team come to experience only good fortune, safety from all harms, and liberation from suffering!

Amazing views and experience trekking in Nepal with Himalayan Glacier taking care of all the logistics.
We were a family group of 3 that traveled from the US to Nepal to do the Everest Base Camp Trek (including overnight in tent at the basecamp), in April 2024 with Himalayan Glacier Trekking on a customized itinerary. Before the trip, we worked closely with their patient travel co-ordinator (Sabin) to iterate over multiple options until we converged on an itinerary we liked. During the trip, we interacted mostly with the travel guide (Shankar) assigned to us for our trip. Aside from the amazing views throughout the trip, the entire day-to-day operation ran very smooth from start to finish. Shankar was always courteous and responsive to our needs, kept engaging us with information on views we were witnessing and kept us on schedule in the most comfortable pace possible. We even wanted to make an on-the-fly change to the itinerary which Shankar and Himalayan Glacier was able to accommodate. On the last night at EBC, when one of us in our group had a sudden drop in Blood Oxygen level, Shankar kept his cool and arranged for helicopter pick up from the basecamp instead of Gorakshep the next morning. Later after we returned to Lukla and were stuck there due to cancelled flights from bad weather, Himalayan Glacier was again quite resourceful in finding us a helicopter option to return to Kathmandu in time before our international flight back to the US. Throughout the duration of the trip, the owner of the Himalayan Glacier Trekking company actually called us several times to check if everything was going well. Thanks Himalayan Glacier for making our trip worry-free and special.

      Lower Dopla Trek
This was my 3rd trek with the Himalayan Glacier Company. Everthing about the experience was 5 star. All the communications with Mr. Sabin pre-trek were timely and effective. The booking process is very easy. And all elements of the trek logistics were flawless. My guide Mr. Dhan cared for me very well. The porter Sam and Sunil were strong and caring. And Mr. Sagar in the Main Office was available. I will trek with Himalayan Glacier again. They are a GREAT Agency!

Perfect trek then left behind by guide /separated from child at Kathmandu airport
My 13 year old son and I just completed the Annapurna base camp trek. The hike was amazing. The booking experience, zoom calls and support on the walk were 5/5. Insightful guide, deputy guide, porters and food. During the trek all of the crew worked together and it was an amazing experience. Following a fantastic trek I was let down by the guide’s actions on the return flight to Kathmandu, where I was left behind in the airport and separated from my child. There is no circumstance where a tour guide should take a child to another location without the parent’s knowledge or consent. The day unfolded at Pokara airport where the guide rushed the group on an earlier flight with handwritten tickets (without names or seats). Questions were asked whether our bags will make it. We boarded the plane with the engines running and it was taxiing to the runaway. The guide seated himself and left the guests to scramble for our own seats. I ended up in row 3 and my child was at least 15 rows behind. It was a turbulent flight with at least one passenger sick. When the aircraft landed the guide took off with my child and tour group to the arrivals area and I was left behind on the plane. By the time i was permitted to disembark, the back of the plane was empty. When I got off the plane my son was gone. I cannot describe how scary this is for a parent. Taking a 13 year old to a foreign country and they disappear. After a turbulent and scary flight I did not know where/how my son was for 30 mins (landing to when I eventually met up in arrivals). The bags did not make it and we ended up waiting for hours at the airport for them to arrive. It is unclear why we were rushed on a basically full plane as it was about to take off, why the guide did nothing to try and have parent and child seated together/close on the plane, when disembarking the guide didn’t wait outside the plane or listen to my son who was asking where is Mum, should we wait for Mum. He told my child to get on the bus knowing I was missing. It is unclear why he didn’t speak to the arrival crew and say we are waiting for a guest and will get on the next transit bus. Or tell the bus driver he needed to wait for a guest before the bus left. A tour guide can navigate these processes because they have local language. They are supposed to keep the group together in an airport. When I got to arrivals I shared this feedback with the guide who did not respond or apologise. I will not use this company again.

Highly recommend Himalayan Glacier for the Poon Hill trek, especially for families. Our guide, Suresh Pandey, was absolutely wonderful. Life changing
From the very beginning with getting the tour organised with Prashant Raut and then being led by Subash our guide and Suman our assistant guide, this has been a most wonderful exlerience. Right through we were treated like kings by Subash and Suman, always attentive to our needs and we never lacked anything. Subash was extremely knowledgeable about the geography and history and we learnt much from him. He safely guided us to EBC which was magnificent. He even tought us to play Dhumble (Nepalese card game) at which we became expert and beat out teacher. I cannot recommend Himalayan Glacier more highly for their professionalism, individual care, flexibility and overall effort to make this trip the most memorable and stress free ever.

Unforgettable trek to Everest Base Camp
For/ before my 50th birthday, I wanted to trek to Everest Base camp. I contacted Himalayan Glacier and was attended to by Sriju Karki, who was professional & informative, arranging a custom 15-day trek with overnight at EBC for our family of 5. We were met at Kathmandu airpot by Shankar Bhatta, our guide for the duration of our trek. Shankar was fantastic: we clicked and he was always ready with an answer; we spent a lot of time comparing our two countries and exchanging information (Nepal & South Africa). His main concern was to ensure that we reached EBC and therefore he went out of his way to check that we were acclimatising (oxygen & heart RPM taken each evening), well rested & fed and accommodated comfortably. We enjoyed biscuits & nuts for afternoon tea and fresh fruit after dinner (all brought up from Kathmandu) and entertained each other by talking, joking and playing UNO & Ludo. Having our flight to Lukla cancelled due to bad whether, we opted for a helicopter flight to Surke to avoid cancelling the whole trek (this helicopter flight is something to consider when planning a trek, as most trekkers were stuck at Kathmandu or Ramechhap airport for many days due to bad weather). In Surke, we were joined by Bhakta Rai, our assistant guide. Bhakta lead at a comfortable, acclimatising pace from the start and especially the kids, who were always out in front, bonded well with him. He attended to our every need at the overnight accommodations, making sure our rooms & luggage were in order, taking our food orders & serving them. Our Sherpa porters Jiban, Charbhadur & Machindra were responsible for our luggage and although seldomly seen, made sure that our belongings were in place when we arrived at our lodgings. When my one son had to leave us due to altitude/ mountain sickness, Jiban guided him and made sure that while he was getting better, he was still entertained with short hikes around Namche Bazaar. The trek was fantastic and well organised - there was nothing that we needed, as everything was arranged for - the overnight at EBC was amazing! Overall the trek is moderate to difficult, as the altitude does seep one's energy, but the sights & people made this trip unforgettable! Be prepared to take tonnes of photos too! Thank you again to all involved, especially Shankar and Bhakta, who made this experience one to cherish forever!

In a deteriorating situation you find out just how good HG are.
My 18yo daughter had wanted to trek to Everest Base Camp for years. She finished high school so away we went. I'd trekked Mera Peak with Himalayan Glacier 6 years ago, and choose to go with them again as they had been so good on my previous trek. Saugat (HG sales agent contact) was tremendously helpful and flexible in tailoring the trek, timing, and pricing to suit us. The trek didn't go according to plan - I got a gut bacterial inflection early on that got progressively worse until finally a helo-medivac was necessarily. This is when you REALLY find out how good the trekking company you choose is. I can't say enough good things about how HG handled the situation. Our guide Babu was unbelievable from day one and lead the fantastic response to a deteriorating situation. So willing to share his knowledge and love of the region. His enthusiasm is infectious. He and his brother (our porter) progressively took the load as my energy levels were going down. Nikesh would port ahead, drop the gear, and trek back to help out. We called him superman. Babu was continually readjusting the plan as I slowed down and constantly ensuring I was hydrating and eating as best I could. In spite of best efforts to get us to EBC - at least we made it far enough to get some great views of Everest - Babu and I agreed it was time to pull the pin. Babu arranged everything (with support of the head office) to get us helicoptered out, and dealt with the hospital and insurance company taking all those worries away from me. He knew all the right people at ever stage, making the process as smooth as possible. I wish we could have finished the trek as planned under the fantastic guiding of Babu, but can't be grateful enough we were lucky enough to have been assigned Babu as our guide, and that HG is such a professional, caring, and hardworking outfit. I'd recommend HG to anyone in a heartbeat. I'd also suggest to specifically request Babu as your guide. He's the best!

      Everest Base Camp Trek
We had an unforgettable experience with Himalayan Glacier for our Everest Base Camp Trek. Firstly we were in touch with Samten via email whereby she promptly responded to any queries we had. This was our (myself and my husband's) first time doing a multi day hike so we were a little nervous choosing a fairly difficult trek in high altitude. We really appreciated the information, time and guidance that was given in informing us about our trek. We were then greeted by our lovely guide Pradeep in Kathmandu and received a very nice welcome dinner. The trek commenced the next day and it was such a wonderful experience. We met our porter Nikesh then too. Pradeep and Nikesh always did their very best to make us feel comfortable and they went at our place for throughout the trek which was really important to us. Overall, super grateful to Himalayan Glacier for their team effort in making a successful trek. Highly recommend them if you're considering trekking

What an amazing experience this was. Truly the experience of a lifetime. We set up a private tour which really let us customize. What I most appreciated, though, was their willingness to work with us when we confronted a pass too deep in snow to get through. We got to go to Everest Base Camp instead and still do the other two passes. Always felt well supported by our guide and porter. I would recommend this company to anyone, and I know there are many choices in this business. My one piece of advice is to probe on the gear list if you have any questions. For instance, our definition of particular types of gear may not be exactly what they were meaning in the list. Easily addressed via an email though if you have any doubts.
