About
Gokyo Lakes and Gokyo Ri Trek is a beautiful journey to the enticing Gokyo lakes and Gokyo Ri which is one of the most amazing viewpoints for great views of Everest and other Himalayas. The 14-day trip begins in Kathmandu where we visit several heritage sites. The Gokyo Lakes and Gokyo Ri Trek is an alternative to classical treks in the Everest region. Instead, it takes us to the turquoise Gokyo Lakes and Gokyo Ri which provides exceptional views of Everest and the Himalayas. We also get to marvel at the massive Ngozumpa Glacier and the Gokyo valley from Gokyo Ri. Gokyo Lakes and Gokyo Ri trek is for those who like to walk in the Everest region without the physical stress of reaching the base camp of Everest or crossing high passes in the vicinity. It is instead for travelers who wish to try something new in the Everest region.

      • We will be accommodated in Yatri Suites & Spa or Hotel Moonlight or Similar in Kathmandu. For the trek we will be using lodges or teahouses for accommodations. All accommodations are on twin-shared basis. Single supplement will be served on request and will cost an additional USD 425.
      • We will be provided all meals during the trek while buffet-style breakfast will be made available in Kathmandu. • You are likely to walk for 6-7 hours each day over steep hilly terrain on usually rough trails but no real extremes of weather. Moderate trails entail reaching up to 5500m with daily ascends of around 400-700m. You will also be facing high altitude air with low level of oxygen on some days and are therefore required to have a positive attitude and be physically fit. Previous hiking or camping experience is preferable.
      • We can do Gokyo Lakes and Gokyo Ri Trek during Autumn (Sept. to November) and Spring (March to May) seasons. During this time the sky is clear and the views are excellent. The weather is fit for trekking without rain. We can also enjoy lush vegetation on the lower regions of the trail particularly during the spring season.
      • Your safety is of paramount concern while traveling with Himalayan Glacier. Please note that your leader has the authority to amend or cancel any part of the itinerary if it is deemed necessary due to safety concerns. Every effort will be made to keep to the above itinerary; however, since this adventure entails travelling in remote mountainous regions, we cannot guarantee that we will not deviate from it. Weather conditions, health condition of a group member, unexpected natural disasters, etc., can all contribute to changes in the itinerary. The leader will try to ensure that the trip runs according to plan, but please be prepared to be flexible if required. Please note that often the Kathmandu-Lukla-Kathmandu flight gets delayed by a few hours or may even be canceled for one, two, or more days due to unfavorable weather conditions. Such conditions may arise even in the best seasons. Hence, in such cases, you must be prepared for long waits either at Kathmandu or Lukla airports, as this can happen either at the start or end of the trek or even both! We will do our best to avoid such delays, and arrange the next flight for you. We also organize Helicopter rescue in such conditions, if it is available and upon request by our clients. The helicopter charges around USD 3500 and it can lift 4-5 persons per flight. Still, we suggest you to be prepared for possible delays/cancellations, and if possible to come with some extra buffer days (1-2 days) at the end of the trip to accommodate such delays. If everything runs smoothly and you still have a few days of your buffer days left then you may even engage yourself in optional activities which can be arranged by Himalayan Glacier upon request. The optional activities may include visiting places/landmarks of your choice, adventure sports, shopping, etc. In case the flight delay/cancellation happens at the start of trip and it goes so long that it disturbs your onward travel schedule, you are free to choose an alternative trip such as a trek in the Annapurna, Langtang, or any other region. If you are not interested in the alternative trip and would rather wait for your original preferred trip, you are welcome to wait in Kathmandu for as many days as it takes to get a flight to Lukla. However, please note that there will be no refund, if you lose time waiting at the airport and do not take an alternative tour or you only do a short trek later due to time limitation. If the cancellation happens before the trip, we will provide you accommodation and lunch in a guesthouse in Kathmandu. In case of the flight delay/cancellation after finishing of the trek, you will be responsible for all your expenses. Please also note that you will not be entitled to any refund for the services (such as hotel, transport, flight, etc.) included in the package that you would not use later.

It was a tough climb I am 74 yrs. old. The staff was very patient with me and understanding.
My guide and porter were exceptional. My guide could hear me slip turn and grab me by the arm preventing falls on a few occasions. He also advised me how to walk safely on the rocky trail. Shanker my guide also coached me on the names of all the peaks. My knee and back became sore and he carried my pack for me the last three days. My safety was always paramount to him. Great experience! My porter Depen carried my large pack to each destination with speed and safety. What beautiful scenery to boot. All the food you wanted to eat and the rooms were great Thanks Himalayan Glacier for the thrill of a lifetime.

        Everest Base Camp Super Company
This is my 3rd time working with this company for adventures in Kilimanjaro to Bhutan to Everest Base Camp (EBC) trek...exceptional company with a super staff!! For this adventure we chose EBC and worked exclusively with Samten who set up all aspects of the trip which included a Fiancee who has never climbed or hike in her life....due to Samten guidance my fiancee completed the trek. Samten is the truest definition of the highest level of service/support. The guide Hom is an expert, it was his 201st guided trip to EBC so you can see that this company employs the best of the best. Interesting tidbits, majority of the Tea Houses take credit cards, they have laundry services, and overall the Tea Houses that this company selects are the best of the best. Since all are aware what the base camp looks like I am attaching pics of things you see during the climb Bottom line use this company if you want peace of mind and knowing that if something goes wrong that they will react fast and make things happen Himalayan Glacier Adventures ROCK

Big cheers for Himalayan Glacier !
Such a serene and spiritual journey organized by Himalayan Glacier's team. Every single details were well thought and greatly executed. Great team work with all the team leaders. Great blended team with trekkers, cooks, nurses / doctors (pseudo) and willing ness to help with the huge smile. Each person made our trip such a memorable trip. To our surprise, through out the parikrama at various locations team member will show up un expectantly or would be waiting for yatris. They always had kind and encouraging words to say through out the yatra.

Best experience of all organized tours I took so far.
Extremely well organized tour. Himalayan agent (Rayuna) has been prepping us with all things we needed to do and dints for almost three months so when we landed in Kathmandu, we exactly new what is coming next. She helped us with planning and including extension to regular tour and arranging for two extra days for our privately planned tour. Himalayan’s tour guide and prep guides helped us a lot in getting ready with everything we need to take, precautiously more prepared than we actually needed. We were fortunate to have a phenomenally cooperative weather which did not really need warm clothing or rain protection but we were prepared for them too. Special havan at Pasupatinath temple gave an excellent start to the spiritually enlightening trip. Our tour guide lead (Shankar Bhatta), a very friendly, knowledgeable and experienced person, kept an eye on everyone’s needs and organized his staff to privide the needed help when needed. Staff were incredibly friendly, serving with a smile regardless of time of the day or night. It is this service which made our trip pleasurable. Hot freshly cooked food most part of the trip made us feel homely even in shacks in Manasarovar and Dehra puk. Advance information Sagar and team had peovided us about the unhygenic conditions of the toilet facilities at Manasarovar, and dueing parikrama helped us be prepared with our own arrangement of portable toilet our team used. Shankar and his team’s real helpful nature was evident by the way they looked after those who fell sick by taking care of their medications, oxygen and other needs. Their help was invaluable during downhill trek from Dolma-la-pass when people needed help. They were just short of carrying those who needed help on their backs. Hats off to the team but for whom, half our our team would not have made it through the treacherous path. Our extension to the standard teip of going to Lhasa was also planned and executed very well. Tibetian guide Tennor was there with us at every stage including showing the right stores, helping translate, negotiate costs and likes dueing some specific and private shopping needs of our team members. His explanation and peoviding details dueing iur visits helped us understand Tibet and Buddhist concepts very vlearly. Hebwas there till our flight took off from Lhasa checking that every stage whent smooth. Overall, Himalayan’s arrangements were top notch andnwoukd not hesitate in rating them five stars.

I never had planned on or thought of Kailash Manasarovar yatra, it just happened! I thank my friends in Tallahassee who encouraged me! My unrealistic dream came true. I still get goosebumps thinking of Mighty Kailash and yet to accept that I spent 15 days. I am so thankful I was able to complete the trail the 1st day. Amazing but was hard. Relentless walking! The Himalayan Glacier Team was so amazing and helpful! The team led by Mr Shanker Bhatt and his staff provided high quality service, fresh food and were full of fun. Thank you all

A trip for the ages and memories for a lifetime!!!
My high school best friend and I decided to celebrate turning 50 by trekking to the 5300 m high Everest Base Camp. The journey was arduous to say the least but immensely fulfilling and left us with a feeling of accomplishment and well being. This would not however have been possible at all without the meticulously curated itinerary designed by Himalayan Glacier! From the very first information zoom call with Sabin Maharjan to being wonderfully guided, trained and advised by our Himalayan guide Kapil Dhital, we appreciated the expertise and professionalism with which our journey was organized. Moreover on the last day when we got stuck in Lukla due to flight disruptions, the immensely resourceful CEO of Himalayan Glacier Mr. Sagar Pandey pulled all the stops and arranged for us to be helicoptered back to Kathmandu from Lukla. This was truly above and beyond. When you travel with Himalayan Glacier, you are not just getting a tour company, you are in fact getting a friend for life.

        Bhutan Trip
This is the second trip I have done with Himalayan Glacier, and I have to say the company has one of best customer service from any industry and company I have interacted with. I am the type of person that has many questions, and the team were always very responsive and professional ensuring all my questions and concerns were answered. I took my partner this time around for a custom itinerary trip to Bhutan and the team was excellent. Sabin, was our main contact at HG and was so knowledgeable and responsive to our needs both before and during our trip. The guide and driver in Bhutan were also very professional and fun to be with during our stay. I would definitely use this company again and recommend them to anyone looking for trips that they offer.

Amazing Trip Made Seamless by Himalayan Glacier - They're my go-to travel company for Nepal
My first-time visiting Nepal was amazing and could not have been as enjoyable without the amazing team at Himalayan Glacier. If you visit Nepal, I'd highly recommend working with Himalayan Glacier. Sriju was my primary point of contact and she was amazingly responsive, helpful and organized. She helped me book extra hotel nights, arranged local taxis and also provided recommendations throughout Kathmandu that were a blast! Dev Giri (Giri) was my guide on the trek to EBC and he was the perfect guide. He's been guiding in Nepal for 35+ years and it showed! He knew all of the geographic information, but more importantly was able to advise me on altitude sickness and stomach sickness prevention to a level I couldn't imagine. He even knew which restaurants and teahouses made their eggs fresh and which places to avoid certain foods. He kept me healthy, happy and answered every (of many) question. I never felt hurried, hassled, confused or unsafe. Multiple other trekkers asked me who my guide was and which company I was travelling with because his expertise was easily visible. I will request working with Giri in every future trip to Nepal. I genuinely had a seamless trip to and from Nepal and in every aspect Himalayan Glacier was there to support me. I'll be coming back to trek to Annapurna basecamp and will 100% be booking with Himalayan Glacier.

        Sagarmatha (Mt Everest) View Trek
Trekking with Himalayan Glacier was a pleasant and seamless experience from beginning to end. My adventure specialist Sriju was excellent. I had very particular parameters for my solo trek; Sriju ensured every aspect was met and at a very reasonable price. She was very knowledgeable about her company and its products and her communications were always clear and precise. She was readily available to answer my many questions (an impressive accomplishment given a 12 1/2 hour time difference). It was a pleasure working with Sriju. I was met at Kathmandu Airport by my guide Deu Ghale and never had to be concerned about an administrative detail from that moment on through the entire trip. Deu Ghale was incredibly knowledgeable, informative, interested in my well-being yet was also respectful of my privacy and my interests on this solo trip. Trekking in the Himalayas can obviously be a very dynamic experience due to weather and many other circumstances. My time in the mountains was no different. Both Deu Ghale and Himalayan Glacier were excellent in adapting my itinerary to address a number of unexpected occurrences and they kept my entire trip intact. My sincere thanks to Deu Ghale, Miss Sriju and Himalayan Glacier.

Selecting Himalayan Glacier turned out to be the most critically beneficial decision of our entire trip.

Our actual volition to trek to EBC came to fruition with sustained research and effort over a couple of years, culminating with the decision to go with Himalayan Glacier, its owner Sagar Pandey and his entire team (special mention of Sanket Pandey and Rayuna Shreshtha), as our trekking partner and guide, based on a very convincing YouTube review by a past client.

In many ways our tale was more about the unsung mountain heroes than anyone else. The simple honest truth is that we the ordinary flatlanders would not have survived more than a few hours on our own in this realm without the help of these true mountain heroes of the Team Himalayan Glacier: Baburam Khatri (Ultimate leader, main guide), Nikes Khatri (Assistant guide), Baghe "Tiger" Tamang (Porter), and Navraj Khadka Sherpa (Porter).

We were so lucky that our team was truly exceptional – we could tell by observing many other groups and their guides during the trek. In fact, a couple of groups, even asked for our team’s reference, taking us on the side, so as to not upset their present guides!

These super humans’ physical strength was only out matched by their super human hearts: A continuous outpouring of humanity, selflessness, kindness, compassion and caring – they were like mothers to us babies.

They embodied the highest virtue of unconditional giving and caring while expecting nothing in return! If it would have been necessary, they would have carried each one of us down the mountains on their backs, and wouldn’t have given it the slightest second thought.

May these mountain heroes and everyone in the Himalayan Glacier team come to experience only good fortune, safety from all harms, and liberation from suffering!
