- The inhabitants of this region are called Nupri direct descendants of Tibetan immigrants. Their speech, dress, customs and way of life are almost exclusively Tibetan. There is still continuous trade between Nupri and Tibet. You can find more product from Tibet than of Nepal. Like Chinese cigarettes are found more frequently than Nepali cigarettes. The mountain views in Nupri are marvellous and the crossing of the Larkya La is one of the most remarkable of any pass in the Himalaya.

About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- guccilittlepiggy0 contributionsABC rhododendron trekNamaste! First off, let me say the First Environmental Trekking (FET) is absolutely amazing. I've been to Nepal before for a tour, but never trekking. From the beginning, I could absolutely tell the difference between FET and that other tour company that shall not be named. Thakur, the director of FET, picks up in the lobby of the airport - not outside the airport with the mob of other airport pick-ups. And then you get a big welcome hug from him. 🥰 Other random bits to add to my review: I stayed at Thakur’s Eco home stay, which is totally safe. It was like my Nepali home away from home. There’s a bathtub too, which is a super rare find. There’s plenty of bottled water in the refrigerator too. Narayan, my guide, has a heart of gold. He’s like the kindest person on the planet. He’s not much of a talker, but I think he was shy when speaking English. (Or maybe he was picking up my introvert vibes😅) The entire time I was with Thakur and Narayan I felt totally safe, even as a single female trekker. Thakur is legit in the mountaineering community. I don’t remember his exact credentials but I do know he is on the executive board for the International Mountain Museum in Pokhara. I can only wish to be as involved in mountaineering societies as him. Thakur treats all of his guests like family and he has fully embraced my chaos in adopting him as my Nepali dad. He doesn’t even mind when I call him Dad. 🥰 ABC is absolutely amazing. It's so beautiful. My moderately fit self was able to do it and I say I’m moderately fit loosely. After hiking for six hours and your legs feel like jell-o, you forget all your exhaustion when you see those magical mountains. You can absolutely whatsapp Thakur about the most random things and he will just reply with the kindest messages. I trekked ABC the last two weeks of April and the rhododendrons were still blooming then, but I heard that there were more blossoms in the beginning of the month. I’m sure there’s more I have to say, but this review is already overdue! Overall, trekking ABC with FET was a lovely experience and I would absolutely trek with them again!Written June 3, 2024
- S3158GLnikm0 contributionsUnforgettable Everest Base Camp HikeWe did the Everest Base Camp hike, with a total of 6 people. The trip organization was excellent, with all the logistics taken care of, even when plans had to change mid-trek. We had no issues anywhere, but were aware of other groups having logistic issues with accommodations. Our guide was excellent and super knowledgeable, and had the uncanny ability to know exactly where would be based on our pace, as our group included a variety of pace levels, and on this trek you have to move at your own pace or failure is a definite possibility. Would recommend them 100%.Written May 20, 2024

- Resort047658315680 contributionsOur amazing guide gave us the adventure of a lifetimeAmazing trip! Due to a tight schedule we did the trek in only 8 days, which was perhaps a bit too optimistic, but our fantastic guide, Ganesh, went above and beyond to give us the best possible experience and get us all the way to Annapurna Base Camp, adjusting the itinerary on the fly to fit our needs and pace. He was so kind, attentive, patient, professional and very well tuned-in to our temperament and moods, even when we were challenged and needed encouragement, support or just to struggle in silence. He had all necessities on hand, just in case, and cut us fruit for dessert every day. He even helped carry our bags when it got too hard. When my friend got altitude sickness at Base Camp he handled it with utmost skill and professionalism, showing care but being firm that we should descend without delay, and supporting her arm all the way down. We felt in very safe hands. My heartfelt gratitude and warmest recommendations to Ganesh for guiding us through the adventure of a lifetime.Written May 2, 2024

Our guide Ganesh made it an amazing experience. He was friendly, helpful, kind and very professional. - 775xabiera0 contributionsVisit to HumlaI went with my couple to Humla (I guess, not the most tourist destination in Nepal), to visit a proyect there. As going with a guide was mandatory we contacted to Frist Environmental Trekking. We cannot compare because we haven't trek enywhere else in Nepal and we didn't contact to any other agency. But we had a good experience with this company even if owrs was not exactly a trek. Ready to help in anything (even if in nepalese style, that it takes some days to get used to it)Written May 9, 2023

- AshGrzy0 contributionsHighly Recommended Company to book your Treks! My husband and I booked a 7 day Langtang Valley trek with First Environmental Trekking (FET). We were limited in time but were fortunate to have Ngima Sherpa guide us on our journey. He was incredibly knowledgeable and supportive as we made our way throughout this moderately challenging yet breathtaking adventure. Many thanks to Thakur and the team at FET who promptly took care of us and the details of the trip (including permits with photos, transportation to/from airport, to/from trailheads ETC.) with great communication. This is the 2nd trek my husband has booked with FET, and it won't be the last. The Langtang Valley is a must do trek while you are in Nepal and FET is a very reasonable and knowledgeable company to book through.Written April 29, 2023

- world_reviewer3720 contributionsGreat People, Great CityI had a great tour of Kathmandu with Mr. Pandey and Mr. Nepal this past weekend. After my Saturday morning helicopter tour was canceled due to weather, they jumped into action and took me all around Kathmandu. Once we saw the sites there, we headed to Bhaktapur to see the sights and have delicious Momos for lunch. Mr. Pandey took me to a wonderful, cultural dinner with music and dance. The next morning we got up and tried the helicopter tour again, and it was a success! I had amazing views, and a fabulous experience seeing Mount Everest. Before hitting the airport to head out of Kathmandu, Mr. Pandey took me to a few stores in Thamel so that I could take home a souvenir to remember my time in Nepal. Based on my trip with them, I would recommend any experience with First Environmental Trekking.Written April 3, 2023

I booked a custom trip (Manaslu & Anapurna) with FET on the recommendation of a close friend who had traveled with them previously. From the very beginning, they did everything possible to create a custom experience based on our time and experience level. Everything was arranged in advance and included in the price. As conditions changed along the trek (weather, tea house availability, fatigue, etc), changes were made to ensure our experience remained positive. Our guides were extremely knowledgeable of the region and local culture, sharing what they knew along the way. They even taught us a Nepali card game that provides many hours of entertainment in the evenings!
When I return to Nepal, FET will absolutely be my first choice for booking another unforgettable Himalayan adventure!

Namaste,
Before this trek I did nearly all well known treks ..must say that this one was really outstanding one..the main difference is that you do not have any roads..only trekking route..no dust under way..great scenery..must say its moderate and in some places really challenging..better be in top shape..organization was perfect..even if my friend because of AMS can not go through the pass there was a horse and porter at his disposal so he safely went back..thank you Thakur for or your help and assistance..:))))
