About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- 926hom0 contributionsEBC trekkingWe've been back to our home country safe and sound after 14 days trekking to EBC. I felt good about my 13-year-old daughter's stamina and mine as well, there were many limits I thought I could not bear but in the end we could still make it. Small and slow steps as long as we refused to give up. And for all that made these possible, I'd just wanna send thanks to our guide Season and our porters Prakash and Arjun. Season is well knowledged, supportive, kind hearted and extremely patient. The porters were also extremely helpful and kind.Written January 8, 2025
- marzenab8150 contributionsEverest Base Camp Trek - Amazing experience!!Had an amazing experience in EBC this November 2024! All logistic was taking care of perfectly, didn’t need to worry about anything. I corresponded with Bishnu via emails prior to come and he patiently replied to any questions I had. Also, I need to mention our guide Season/Narayan who is an amazing person, very kind, helpful and funny!!! I highly recommend Himalayan Recreation - thank you for everything and best of luck💜Written December 3, 2024
- jacquenz0 contributionsTrip of a lifetime to Everest Base CampA trip of a lifetime with the "best crew" Himalayan Recreation who went above and beyond for us. Our guide Raj (and later Ram) were absolutely fantastic - I felt well and truly in good hands the whole way...and our porters just blew my mind everyday. 100% success rate for our group of 10 on this hike. What a feeling and memory to treasure with fellow NZ'ers and our 2 adopted Singapore'ans. Thanks teamWritten November 28, 2024
- Fomotutu0 contributionsFantastic Company to do EBC TourEverest Base Camp 15 Day tour. I joined a group of 8 other New Zealanders to take part in what became a fantastic, memorable expedition to EBC. Right from the start of booking our tour Bishnu from Himalayan Recreation was in hand to answer any questions we had. Thereafter from meeting our guide Raju and later Rams we knew we were in safe capable hands. Both guides have in depth knowledge of the trek and the history of the area. Our guides and porters kept our safety paramount and ensured all our needs were catered to. We became like a family in a very short time. Himalayan Recreation went above and beyond when our flights to Lukla were delayed by providing us with accomodation and a meal at no extra cost, and they were still around to assist us with any issues even after the tour had officially ended. I highly rate Himalayan Recreation and their guides and porters.Written November 27, 2024
- Freedom288490151570 contributionsHighly recommend Himalayan Recreation for trekking in Nepal! They are professional, reliable and supportiveMy trek to Everest base Camp was incredible! Himalayan Recreation enabled my experience to be one of a life time. I was part of a group of 8 people, all from NZ and we didn't know each other until we arrived in Kathmandu! We had a WhatsApp group created for our trip and the company Manager, Bishnu Thapa, answered any pre-trip questions that we had. Being a female and travelling to Nepal on my own, I felt so well supported by them, their was no issues picking and dropping me off at the airport, and arranging extra accommodation. Anything we asked of them they would facilitate. The day the tour started until it ended, the company did everything to make this trip awesome! I had complete trust in the groups guide, Reju and Ram, who had fantastic knowledge of the area and we always felt that they treated us as "number one!" the porters were also fantastic. They are special people. The company is extremely well organized, professional, great communication and has high expectations of their employees. I cant recommend this company enough!Written November 24, 2024
- 965ildik_s0 contributionsSatisfied and happyThe best trip with the best! I made the best decision when I chose Himalayan Recreation to organize my trip. Professional organization, professional team. I received all the help before and during my trip. I did three passes alone. While other companies tried to dissuade me because of the difficulty, here I received all the encouragement and help. They were probably even happier about my success than I was ❤️My mountain guide, Buddha Tamang, is also professional, very kind and helpful. The whole trekking was adjusted to me, to my pace, to my organization. I managed to make up for the days I lost in Ramechap without having to give up anything from my plans. The accommodations, tea houses were absolutely adequate. The food was really delicious. I spent happy, wonderful weeks. I found new friends. Thank you for every moment 🙏❤️Written November 17, 2024
- nikleshtan0 contributionsBravo Himayalan Recreation Team - Incredible journey with brilliant support throughout! My friend and I have successfully completed the guided Everest Base Camp Trek with the help of Managing Director Bhishnu Thapa, of Himalayan Recreation Treks & Travel, in the second week of October 2024. I can personally vouch for their thorough support throughout from the moment we started communications to clarify details of the tour to ensure we booked it with confidence to when we arrived and departed - they have an excellent and experienced network of guides, porters, links with tea houses and emergency support capabilities. I felt totally looked after and cared for throughout. Their website is full of useful information in terms of kit and sets expectations for accommodation and sanitation levels. We were lucky to have access to indoor western style toilets at all tea houses albeit having to do a manual flush. Our guide Buddha was on hand every step of the way pointing out where to step, keep to safe paths, keep Yaks and horses at a safe distance, carry water and other items, reaching into our rucksack on request for anything at anytime and most of all staying cheerful, patient and amicable all the time! He personally took food requests and served us at most Tea houses! Our porter Pembe did an excellent job of carrying our duffel bags and making sure they were on hand at every location. Incredible support was provided during flight delays due to non conducive weather by both Bharat and Buddha. Absolutely loved the cultural night treat a day before our departure joined by Bhishnu and Gopal Thapa of Leaf Holidays! Bravo indeed Himalayan Recreation team - many thanks, keep it up and God bless!Written October 30, 2024

- A5308YDsandys0 contributionsGreat trek in a short timeWent for 4 days Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek, my guide was Season. I asked to join just 3 days in advance and they arranged the trip well. My guide shared his knowledge and experiences on trekking, so as life in Nepal. And most important was - I was too careless leave my personal belongings in one of Guesthouse on the mountain, he tried his best to call everyone so that I get it back on the next day in Pokhara. Thank you so much and really appreciated that. So as the guesthouse was honest & trustable! And for the trek itself, It's a rather easy trek. But for people who has limited travel days or just like me want to see how trekking in Nepal looks like, it's a good start. Trekking thro nature, rice Terrance, villages, forest in mountain && We were so fortune to see golden sunrise on the Annapurna range during on top of Poon Hill, it's surely the highlight of this trek :)Written September 24, 2024
- S6059SWkyleh0 contributionsTake Your TimeSeason (the guide) was pretty cool. The porters were awesome! Definitely be selective about who you choose to do this hike with. The guide will tailor the hike to the quickest in the group. The mountains are beautiful and the tea houses were good. I only wish we had more time to ask questions, learn about the surrounding landscapes, and take in more of the scenery, otherwise I would book with this company again.Written June 2, 2024

- Jens and Ros R0 contributionsGreat company and best guide everThe end to end process was great and everything was planned really well by Himalayan Recreation. We couldn’t have had a better guide, Raj. We are in our 70s and Raj always believed in us and gave us confidence that getting to base camp was going to happen. He knew all the ins and outs of everything, he was kind, considerate, patient, helpful, informative and we were very lucky to have him as our guide. He’s a thoroughly decent guide. He turned our dream into reality. Ask for Raj as your guide when you book with Himalayan Recreation.Written May 21, 2024
- helenaa4920 contributionsTrek & Yoga combination for Mardi Himal.Fantastic trek. Great Yoga teachings. This company really gave an attention to every detail, need, and level to make this a great experience for me. Along the trek my guide was open to modifications to make me wake up in great places and have maximum energy for going to mardi Himal base camp…. Where we had a yoga session after sunrise and we were alone in this beautiful space. Everything was great and this organiser have experience. I will definitely book with them again. However I will be a little more demanding in what hotel to stay at in Pokhara, now that I have understood that if hotels don’t treat monthly against cockroaches, there will be a problem for that. That is the point that can be better. For the rest of… amazing attention, teachings, and trek ! And the food at the tea houses are fantastic and fresh. ! I will come back to discover more.Written May 19, 2024

The Annupurna Poon Hill Trip is a lovely trek through the lower elevations of the Annupurna range of the Himalayas. Starting from Pokhara, a 90 minute drive in a taxi drops us off at the beginning of the trek and then goes up from there. My guide, Raj, was absolutely awesome and provided a lot of great information about the area during our trek over the several days that this trek takes place. The second day of the climb takes us to the small town of Ghorepani, and then an early climb the next morning to Poon Hill.
I went on this trip in the 2nd year of the virus. According to my guide, the number of travelers was still way down from pre-pandemic years. So, in one way, it is a great time to travel since you will have most of the trails to yourself. The tea houses are also pretty empty. The negative side to this is that there are limited menu items and several places didn't have WiFi.
There are a few recommendations I would make about this trip. The first is the ride from Kathmandu to Pokhara. I took the bus and regretted it about halfway there. While the distance is only 200 km, it took about 8 hours on the bus. If I were to do this again, I would have opted for a 30 minute flight. It costs more, but is so worth it.
Second, make sure you bring toilet paper with you on the trek. The tea houses I stayed in during my trek didn't have any. So, bringing a roll of your own is a huge help. And speaking of bathrooms, most of the toilets along the route are not the western style sit-down toilets. Rather they are the hole in the grounds. So, make sure to use the bathroom before leaving the tea house since the next western-style toilet isn't until the next guest house, which could be a half day hike away.
Finally, if you have time after the trek, spend an extra day in Pokhara. It is much more interesting than Kathmandu.
Otherwise, the trek was wonderful and the folks at Himalayan Recreation did a great job in staying in touch, picking me up at the airport when I arrived in Nepal, and provided excellent service all the way through.

If you feel the need for a guide for your trekking experience in Nepal, make sure to go with this company. Due to a lack of time, a friend and I decided to go for the shortest circuit in the Annapurna region: the Poon Hill Trek. Our guide Santosh, an ever happy and supportive mountaineer, met with us a day prior to the trek and we got to know each other over a cup of tea. All questions and concerns were cleared out and we started the trek euphorically. The four days will remain in best memory not only due to the astonishing views on Poon Hill but to a large extent to the experienced guiding by Santosh, the comfortable accommodations in Pokhara, Ulleri, Ghorepani and Ghandruk and a flawless organization. Summing up, I can 100% recommend Himalayan Recreation!

May 2018 • Friends
My friend and I just finished this tour with our wonderful tour guide Ashok. This was a great experience for us as we had limited time in the country and specific dates which we wanted to do this tour.
Bishnu and Ashok organised this tour and adjusted this to our needs. On completion of this tour the company also organised a rafting trip to complete our adventures on Nepal.
The tour itself was enthralling to see the stunning views and the countryside ( you can’t capture that beauty through the lense of a camera!), and our tour guide Ashok also guided us to the history of the different areas to give us a better understanding of what we were seeing.
Ashok also encouraged our group to try the local delicacies... we were very unsure initially, but after being coaxed into it - we didn’t look back - food was fabulous!!
Masala tea, fresh cucumber with chilli and salt, mo mo’s and the classic Dal baht - if you head to Nepal make sure you try all of these - from a little local restaurant as well!
Thank you so much Bishnu, Ashok and the team who helped make our trip so easy and enjoyable. I would definitely recommend this trip to anyone who has limited time but loves outdoors and trekking 😊
