About
The Rwenzoris – the fabled Mountains of the Moon – lie in western Uganda along the Uganda-Congo border. The equatorial snow peaks include the third highest point in Africa, while the lower slopes are blanketed in moorland, bamboo and rich, moist montane forest. Huge tree-heathers and colorful mosses are draped across the mountainside with giant lobelias and “everlasting flowers”, creating an enchanting, fairytale scene.
The national park hosts 70 mammals and 217 bird species including 19 Albertine Rift endemics, as well as some of the world’s rarest vegetation.

- philipnS8361YT0 contributionsAmazing gorilla and chimpanzee tracking with safari 9 daysIt was an amazing trip that Robert from Kigere tours made even better. We could decide together what we wanted to see and had the trip personally adapted. Robert was very happy and positive and could also give us a lot of information about everything we drove by and saw. He was also very honest and reliable so we always felt very safe and that he took good care of us. We saw a lot of different animals including Gorillas, chimpanzees, lions, elephants, zebras, giraffes and many more. We asked for budget living but were very happily surprised of the lodges. They were all very clean, nice and had amazing views and food. Everything was amazing and we can absolutely recommend Robert from Kigere tours to everyone because he was so nice and did all his best all the time in order for us to have as good a trip as possible.Written February 10, 2024
- F9224UImartinae0 contributionsChimpazee tracking in Kibale NP, game drives in Queen Elizabeth NP and Lake Mburo NPWe spent a great time with our guides! With Robert, the enthusiastic and kompetent driver and Apollo, the kind and perfect organisator, we had a fantastic and funny time. They know all the good places for game drives in the Nationalparks and their wonderful network with other guides helps to find animals where they are. The timing and planning was excellent, the choosen lodges were confortable with everything we needed and Robert's and Apollo's knowledge about the region and the animals is fantastic! I highly recommend a safari tour with Kigere tours. Martina from AustriaWritten August 18, 2023
- liebetd20230 contributionsFantastic day @ Queen Elisabeth National ParkYesterday I had a fantastic day in Queen Elisabeth National Park. I was picked up early in the morning. We started the day with a game drive through the park. Here I was able to see several animals in their natural habitat. The highlight was undoubtedly the lions devouring a meal. After lunch, a boattrip was scheduled. What a delightful experience. I saw elephants, hippos, crocodiles, ... It was absolutely a fantastic day, for which I would like to thank George very much.Written June 8, 2023
- 44rainerf0 contributionsGreat 21 Days Triop with Kigere ToursI had an outstanding experience with Kigere Tours, travelling the best spots of Uganda for 21 days. We startet rafting on the Nile in Jinja, climbed the Rwnzori Mountains, saw gorillas, chimps and all the animals you want to see, when travelling to the pearl of africa. Our guides Apollo and Robert did the best job on this journey in their openhearted and friendly way. Me an dmy wife had the best time. Uganda is a great place to visit, with awesome landscapes and great people, and Kigere Tours was the best choice. 10/10 would highly recommend. I will come again.Written May 30, 2023
- robmounter0 contributionsAmabere caves and crater lakes with WilsonWe spent the afternoon visiting the Amabere Caves and the surrounding caves with Wilson. This is such a beautiful part of Uganda (although isn't the whole country just stunning!?) and was a great way to spend an afternoon. Wilson is an amazing guy and it was a pleasure to spend a few hours with him. He taught us a lot about the area and it was just a shame we couldn't have spent longer with him. I understand that Wilson and his colleagues offer various tours and when I come back to Uganda I won't hesitate booking with Kigere Tours. Would recommend them to anyone visiting Uganda, whether you're looking for a one day tour or a longer trip. Thanks for a great afternoon Wilson. I'm confident we'll meet again in the future... Next time it's Mt Stanley!Written March 19, 2020
- Jintravelsnow0 contributionsAmabere caves & Queen ElizabethMy sister and I met Robert Mirembe, during a tour to the Amabere caves in Fort Portal. Robert is the most kind, open and enthousiastic guide we've had our whole trip in Uganda. Full of passion he explains everything; history, mythes, information about plants and animals. We loved his big heart for and knowledge about the nature. Robert then organised a safari trip to national parc Queen Elisabeth. He adjusted very flexible to our schedule. At Quen Elisabith we did a game drive, chimp tracking and boat tour where we;ve spotted lots of animals. It was an amazing expreience and would really recommend Kigere tours to anyone!Written March 14, 2020

- Sa9_Fu30 contributionsAmazing days at Queen Elizabeth NationalparkMy partner and I spent three fantatastic days at Queen Elizabeth Nationalpark. Robert was a fantastic guide, taking care of everything, including recommending and booking one of the best accommodations we had in Uganda - in the midst of the nationalpark, surrounded by hippos and antelopes at night. We also had a great driver who helped us spotting so many different animals and species. Robert is a biologist and told us a lot about the flora & fauna - very interesting. They were very flexible and understanding when we changed our travel plans spontaneously. They agreed to bring us to Kabale by car at some extra cost which was really convenient for us. I highly recommend booking a tour with Kigere tours!Written July 11, 2016
- Will H0 contributionsFantastic guide for Amabere cavesMy partner and I were taken on a guided tour of the Amabere caves and then a walk taking in several of Fort Portal's beautiful crater lakes. Our guide Robert was incredibly knowledgable and enthusiastic about the history of the region and the local flora and fauna. He also was very friendly and had a great sense of humour. We thoroughly enjoyed the tour and would recommend Robert's Kigere Tours for other trips too.Written August 17, 2014
