Silas is friendly, knowledgeable, experienced and has a genuine love for travel and adventure. Our travels with him were always safe, and comfortable. He always asked how we were to make sure our needs were met. He took us into town to eat local foods, shop at the markets and explained everything ensuring we safely tried whatever we wanted and he recommended. It was fantastic! Travel is unpredictable and Silas faced every challenge with competence and confidence. We always felt relaxed and safe. He has a great reputation with other guides and is well respected. This shows when you're watching animals and they all help each other and they respect views to ensure everyone has a great vantage point. Silas is easy to talk to, and answered any questions we had. Silas took us on an incredible 11 day journey to the North and East of Uganda including Murchison Falls, Kidepo, Moroto, Sipi Falls and Jinja. We found Silas to be knowledgeable, friendly, wonderful with children and adults alike. We found him to be completely trustworthy. I would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Silas and Village of Lakes Safaris.

Horrible experience with this agency Silas. in short 1. He took more than $1000 extra from us than what we agreed upon arrival. 2. He downgraded our hotels 3. Continued lying about many things including rturning our money 4. Car broke down more than 3 times when we were there and we had to wait in the heat. Also window broke and we suffered throughout with a black cover and cant open it. 5. He pretends to be someone he is NOT. decieving and lies and shows a different side that is charming and funny BE CAREFUL 6. played a whole trick on us to change one item in the itenary inorder to cancel and downgrade hotels and pocket the money. Dont let him decieve you with his answers. We filed a Police reporton him upon our departure. This person should be stripped from his license and not be able to do tours anymore due to his deception to tourists. Use a different agency.

Silas stole 965$ from us. He manipulated the itinerary after we agreed to it and downgraded some of the accommodations we agreed on. He provided unsafe and unreliable 4x4 safari car that broke down and stranded us 3 times in a span of 14 days. He lied about returning the stolen money. He canceled 5 of the planned activities starting from day 1. He kept transporting locals on our time (it was ok the first 2 times but it became the norm without permission. So uncomfortable). Since he is a single owner/operator, we had no avenue to complain about the service. We reported him to the authorities at the airport prior to departure. I strongly recommend choosing a more reliable tour operator than Silas. Questions about the worst experience i had are welcomed and will provide details.

Amazing trip, we booked Silas just for the gorilla trekking. But ended up with a two and half week trip. Driving ourselves or with public transport we would never have been able to do the same in this amount of time. We boosted from lake bunyoni, to Bwindi, Rwenzori ( which is amazing and highly recommended) chimp tracking, boat safari in murchison, Kidepo and ended with rafting in Jinja. Silas helps with finding suitable accommodations and places to eat and occasionally very good party places. You have to watch out for his friend Edward with the pink bubble wine, because they party real hard. Altogether is Silas really capable in providing in the trip you want. So we were really happy we were able to travel this way.

We’ve always wanted to see eastern Africa but were a little intimidated on how to make it happen. Finding Village of Lakes touring company made us ready to take the leap! We are frequent travelers who usually opt for budget/midrange accommodations so that we can prioritize funding more activites/food/experiences. We rarely book tours but felt in this case that we’d have a much richer, safer and all around easier experience. From the start, Silas, our guide and owner, was extremely communicative and even offered to have a few FaceTime meetings well in advance to answer any questions and help organize the itinerary best suited to our personal goals. There are lots of touring companies available in Uganda and Rwanda. With Silas and his team you can support a small local business, based in Uganda. He can flex your experience from budget travel to more luxurious accommodations and advise on where to splurge which we very much appreciated. We toured Uganda and Rwanda for 9 days. Top 4 Highlights of our trip for me include the game drive in Queen Elizabeth Park where we saw so many amazing animals including 7 lions! Seeing the Gorillas in Bwindi was a once in a lifetime experience too. And Lake Bunyonyi was incredibly scenic and relaxing. Last but not least we were able to spend time in smaller lakeside communities that rarely see tourists and warm your heart with their genuine spirit. In his capable Land Cruiser he skillfully drove us through the incredible terrain from mud 2’ deep to rocky hill climbs and the miles upon miles of dusty dirt roads. Throughout the trip Silas was always open to a chat and answer questions. He is very proud of his country and likes to share that with his guests. When you travel with him you quickly see that he is connected to so many lodge owners, park employees and other guides. This comes in handy as they share tips/information with him that optimizes your experience. And in the end thats what we all want in a touring company: an experience that optimizes your travel time, reveals places you wouldn’t have considered yourself and makes it all as seamless and easy as possible. Our 14 days with the village of lakes safaris and Silas as our guide we’re a marvel he arranged every single detail of our trip to suit our needs thanks to the local food experience Uganda has really tasty food and happy people. Our most amazing moment with my wife and daughter was the gorilla experience it’s such a great moment one can have once in a lifetime to visit the gorillas in their natural habitat more so get to be a bit close to them. We really had a good shot choosing village of lakes safaris and such a knowledgeable guide, Silas, we would totally recommend him to anyone coming to visit Uganda.

Travelled with Silas and Village of Lakes Safaris to Uganda for leisure and had an amazing time. We also crossed the border to Rwanda for some tours. A very accommodating company. Village of Lakes Safaris secured a gorilla tracking permit for me with less than 2 weeks notice! and on top of that organised my accommodation and travel itinerary. I was very impressed considering my last minute travel plans. Silas was my guide. He was very friendly and patient at all times. Very well organised, very professional, very punctual ( I thought I was punctual!) with daily briefings & de-brief. Paid attention to detail. I really appreciated the transparency and honesty of Silas and his company. Some of the highlights of my trip included gorilla tracking in Bwindi (Uganda), boat rides on Bunyonyi lake (Uganda) and the islands where the wakanda films were based on. We then crossed the border into Rwanda where we did Akagera safari park and Canopy walking and trekking in Nyungwe National Park. I took many amazing pictures and made many amazing memories. Silas is very knowledgeable about the country, regions and towns we visited, including the history. The design of the trip was done uniquely for me. My own requirements were always catered to. I felt comfortable saying what I liked and disliked. You can request a certain trips and stops - I was able to visit local communities and villages, tosee how people live, eat out locally etc. If travelling to Uganda, I recommend Village of Lakes Safaris tours!
