We booked this tour last minute when we found ourselves stuck in Kampala waiting for PCR tests. It became one of the absolute highlights of our 3 week holiday.

We were met by Joseph in the centre of Kampala and taken on a fascinating 3 hour tour of local sites - he really took us to the heart of the city, explaining about the culture and the history, and letting us taste lots of local delicacies (we had far too many grasshoppers left over in our hotel fridge)

Joseph read the audience perfectly and was the exact blend of protective but not patronising on the tour - leading us confidently through the maze of the markets and through the busy streets.

We wished we were staying longer as he offered to take us to a rugby match and also explained about their brilliant night tours.

DEFINITELY book this tour!

The tourguide Arthur is really nice and flexible with plans.
We walked around the bustling city and Arthur definitely made us feel safe during the entire trip. We visited monuments and markets, and the explanation by the tour guide helped us understand the city better, definitely something that we couldn't do if we were to travel by our own!

My mom and I loved the Kampala walking tour. Arthur was super knowledgeable and friendly, and we loved seeing a variety of historic landmarks and "real life" places. The markers are crowded (of course), but Arthur led us through the chaos really well and we enjoyed taking in all the sights and sounds of central Kampala. If you're in town for either work or tourism, I definitely recommend taking the walking tour (and go to the mosque--the view from the Minaret is beautiful).

A really interesting and chilled tour. Learnt a lot in a short time, with a perfectly timed stop at Cafe Javas to refresh us for the last leg (the market and the temple). (The nicest Cafe Javas in Kampala too… so the cafe was also part of the sightseeing.) The children in our group were between 4 and 10 years - all enjoyed in and coped well, even on a hot Kampala morning. Of course what made it so chilled, informative and interesting was our guide, Arthur. Just like hanging out with a well-informed friend for the morning - with absolutely none of the tour guide tricks of trying to get you to buy things or visit an uncle’s shop, etc. that we’ve had in other countries. We were made to feel very comfortable, very safe and at home. Wished we’d done it earlier during our stay here.

Arthur was at the meeting point on time. Before leaving my hotel I contacted him to let him know that I was on my way, he took the time to clearly explain me the meeting point and made me feel secured. When I arrived, he greeted me in professional manner and we started the tour. He followed the tour plan, and explained clearly the information related to different monuments and different points. He made sure that I understood and he answered all my questions. Arthur went beyond his duties to help me buy data for my phone. I had encounteted an unexpected issue during an ATM transaction. My ATM card got stucked in the machine. Arthur went again beyond his duies and stayed three more hours after the tour ended to help me resolve the issue. He supported me all the way and made sure that I get my card back the same day. Arthur also asked me to text him when I arrived so, he can make sure that I made it safely to my hotel. Iw as impressed. Arthur is one of the best tour Guide I have met so far.

My husband and I needed last minute plans for a day, and when we saw a free version of this tour on Immersion's website, we went for it. It is an abbreviated version of the tour shown here, but even though it was free, our guide, Solomon, was professional and friendly. He shared a lot of interesting information about Uganda's history and helped us track down guava (husband's request) in the food market.

One thing that particularly impressed me was that when my husband and I arrived at the craft market, we could not see our guide. We thought there might have been confusion about the start time, and after a few minutes, we decided to look around the craft market ourselves. I finally borrowed someone's phone and called Solomon, only to find out he was at a different entrance to the craft market and had been looking for us. Some people might have thought we'd stood them up, but he stuck around and we still got our tour.

I'd recommend this tour if your travel interests include history and culture. You will learn a lot!

I booked this tour online with Arthur. My tour guide was Arthur (another person) who arrived there well before the tour start - just in case to help the visitors. We started off outside the craft center and walked everywhere after, talking about different topics along the way. We visited the places in the itinerary in exactly the order advertised. There was a boda-boda ride from the second hand used market to the Gaddafi Mosque and it was a good one. The tour ended right back where it started outside the craft market next to the Senana shopping center in Nakasero. It was a day well-spent! Many thanks, Arthur and Arthur!

This was an excellent tour. The guide could not have been better. I loved seeing the markets and having someone to help me navigate the hustle and bustle . He brought to life the history and stories of the Ugandan people. He couldn’t have been more accommodating and would happily answer my many questions. This tour allows you to see the real Kampala.
