- francislouieg0 contributionsExciting, satisfying, and worth it!My wife and i took Home to Africa’s 4-Day Short Vacation to Uganda - Gorilla Trekking Bwindi. The tour exceeded our expectations. The accommodations were lovely. Zed our guide was very helpful, informative and funny. He was very animated and always makes sure that the long drives were lively. The gorilla trek was exhilarating (even with the challenging hike up, haha). Seeing the gorillas up close is really a once in a lifetime experience.Written September 7, 2024
- 676eabhak0 contributions4-Day TrekWe cannot recommend Home to Africa enough! The company was extremely accommodating, allowing us to start our trek in Kigali and end in Kampala. They even combined the 5-day and 3-day safaris to give us a perfect 4-day itinerary. The gorilla trek was a once in a lifetime experience, the game drive and boat tour around Queen Elizabeth National Park was beautiful but it was our tour guide Rolland who absolutely made the trip for us. He was extremely knowledgeable, very helpful and most importantly, he was great fun!Written September 6, 2024
- clionaj20220 contributionsBest experience ever with the best guide ever. This is my second safari like trip this year. One in Tanzania and this one in Uganda and I have learned that so much of the time experience relies on your guide. Roland from Home to Africa was one of a kind in terms of making sure we got the most out of our experience. We had an incredible time witnessing the beautiful gorillas and extended our trip to visit Queen Elizabeth National Park. Once in a life time experience. Huge thank you to Roland and the Home to Africa team for making it so special for us.Written September 6, 2024
- L6008PCrossb0 contributions12 days of wonderful experiences of wildlife and peopleOur 12 day tour started in Rwanda and continued around Uganda. Both beautiful countries with lush forests and extensive savanna. We got right up close and had magical encounters with elephants, giraffes, lions, gorillas, chimpanzees, rhinos, buffalo and many more. The country is teeming with wildlife and birds and there are far fewer tourists than in Tanzania. The accommodation was budget but surprised on the upside. We ate very well. We stayed in very scenic places often on park boundaries. The staff were welcoming and the service was excellent But what made the tour a 10 was our driver/guides. Amil was a survivor of Rwanda’s sad history and gave us such an insight into his family life. Derrick laughed with us, shared photos and responded to our endless questions about Uganda, its history, culture, politics, economy, as well as the wildlife. Both were skilled drivers and excellent animal and bird spotters. They patiently gave us all the time we wanted to experience the wildlife at close hand Home to Africa is an experienced company with great people. Highly recommendedWritten September 3, 2024
- BriansArtforAnimals0 contributionsSo glad we used Home to Africa!4 nights 5 days and one Gorilla trekking experience. We had a great time. Our drivers both in Rwanda and in Uganda were excellent. Scodious, our driver in Uganda was very fun to travel with. She made the great trip even better. I know there are a ton of travel companies to choose from. Home to Africa is one I would for sure use again. They always answered any questions i had quickly and were very easy to deal with. They picked lodges with i our budget and we had no complaints at all.Written September 3, 2024
- misaroc0 contributionsExceptional CompanyHome to Africa is an exceptional company to work with in Uganda, and I highly recommend them. We booked a trip with them, and they organized everything flawlessly from airport pick-up to the activities throughout our stay. The trip was expertly arranged by their staff member, Hedmond, who was always available to answer our questions, even with the time difference. Our guide, Rollands, was incredibly knowledgeable and experienced, making our journey truly unforgettable.Written August 29, 2024

- 214paolal0 contributionsBest tour in UgandaOur tour of Uganda with Home to Africa was terrific. We spent 12 days around Uganda visting Murchison Falls and Queen Elizabeth National parks, Bwindi forest (gorilla trekking), Bunyony and Mburo lakes. I was very impressed by how professional and detailed was the correspondence with Hedmond the manager. He always replied to our emails within few hours giving us all the information we needed. Another special mention to our guide Karim who was definitively an added value as he knows everything about Uganda, its history, its culture, its nature. Every day we learnt so many new things. He was always very caring and impeccable. All the lodges we stayed at were great. Minimal but super clean and the people were always so nice and welcoming. We felt always at home. It’s remarkable the support Home to Africa gives to the local communities selecting always lodged managed by local people. It made the difference. Every day was special as it was very different because Uganda geography is so rich and diverse. I would recommend to anyone visiting Uganda to get in touch with Home to Africa to have the best experience ever!!!Written August 28, 2024
- Franardi0 contributionsWonderful Adventure in the Pearl of Africa. Great company and great guide! The experience with Home to Africa was more than positive. We took an 11-day tour that included Chimpanzee and Gorilla trekking. From the planning phase, communication, and payment, the correspondence with the manager, Hedmond, was impeccable and professional; we were truly impressed! The tour then exceeded our expectations. Despite a small initial mishap, our guide Husaima took care of us in an impeccable, professional, and friendly manner. We loved spending evenings with him, listening to his stories about Uganda and all the adventures he has experienced. Husaima also helped organize my husband's birthday with kindness and punctuality, making it a really fun evening! All the lodges (budget level) mostly exceeded our expectations; they were all very clean, and the food was delicious! Additionally, we greatly appreciated the support that Home To Africa gives to local communities by using Ugandan lodges and organizing cultural excursions that support them! We couldn't be happier with our choice of Home to Africa!Written August 27, 2024
- 978joannat0 contributionsAnother unforgettable adventure with Home to AfricaThis was our second trip organised though the Home to Africa team and once again they pulled out all the stops for a safari we absolutely loved! We opted for an 11 day tour around the top spots in Uganda, with a mixture of game drives, culture, lakes and walking tours. Our tour guide, Danny, did a superb job in showing us around the National Parks and went above and beyond to ensure our holiday was seamless - we very much appreciated his 'hustling' with locals to secure us the best experiences available. The accommodation was much better than we expected for what was described as budget/mid-range, located in great spots for easy access to the next animal experience. We felt safe and secure at all times, and found the Ugandan people to be warm and welcoming. If you're on the fence about visiting Uganda, we'd say just do it! And thoroughly recommend Home to Africa if you do.Written August 22, 2024
- ErwinMulherns0 contributionsExpert Guide. GreatWe worked with H2A on a custom trip to see gorillas in Bwindi in July 2024. Driving, this trip requires 2 days from Entebbe on either side (consider flying if you were not as interested as we were to see everyday life in Uganda along the road). From the moment of pickup in Entebbe we knew we were in for a great experience. Our guide, Huzaima, was immediately engaging and helpful. As we picked our way along the main road — with a stop for coffee at the Equator! — we learned a lot about Uganda, its people, history, and culture. Our second morning, we did a game drive in Lake Mburo National Park and had several magical moments among Zebra, Giraffe, Cape buffalo and assorted antelopes. Our third morning, we were trekking in a rain forest and spent an hour with a band of gorillas. Unforgettable. Our fourth morning, Huza accommodated our need to go to the Bwindi Women's Bicycle Project in Buhoma that receives bikes from Working Bikes in our hometown of Chicago. There he was so gracious and helped us to document our visit with these remarkable women. On the drive back, we learned even more about the undefeatable spirit and work ethic of the people of Uganda. Huza was an excellent guide to the diversity of cultures that make up this country, and also very knowledgeable about the birds and wild animals we saw. We will never forget his hospitality and humor.Written August 11, 2024
- Pontinha20150 contributionsA true adventure in the Pearl of AfricaThe best company to visit Uganda! I booked the Gorilla trek with them, payment was done online by card and communication was very efficient! The entire experience was very well planned and stress free! I had a fantastic time with my guide Zedius. Professional, punctual and the best drive to navigate some tough terrain! My accommodations were spectacular: comfortable, clean, excellent staff and food. As a single female I felt completely safe and very well taken care! I can’t recommend this company enough to anyone coming to East Africa and I am sure they will be the ones that I will choose when I come to Rwanda!Written August 10, 2024
- 391ingelaa0 contributionsmy safari in Uganda was really above my expectationsI had decided to invite my son (20 years old) to experience the wildlife and scenery of Eastern Africa following an internship he did in Kampala this summer. I hesitated between the more well-known national parks in Kenya and Tanzania on the one hand, and Uganda on the other hand. I'm really happy I chose Uganda, and Home to Africa Tours. The trip was absolutely amazing, for many reasons: - we saw essentially all the large animals you expect to see, and most of them really close up (but safely of course) - this includes elephants (both from the car on the savannah, and from a boat along the channel between lakes George and Edward), lions, rhino, giraffes, leopards, zebras, buffalos, hippos, warthogs, antelopes, crocodiles, lots of beautiful birds, etc etc, and last but not least chimpanzees and gorillas, with which we spent absolutely magical moments in the jungle - the scenery was gorgeous and unexpectedly diverse (dry savannah, lush gentle hills, very impressive mountains, jungle, rivers, lakes, swamps) - the lodges (in the budget formula) ranged from exceptionally beautiful and very high quality to OK (there was only one that was only OK in terms of quality - on the other hand, this lodge offered a golden opportunity to see hippos close up in the evening) - the food was great in all the lodges (by the way, none of us had any stomach problems during our time in Uganda) - all the people we encountered (even outside of the lodge and park staff) were really nice and friendly, and it was so interesting to learn a little bit about the rich set of cultures and languages. There are lots of companies that offer similar tours. A key strength of Home to Africa is its size: we would see several other cars from the same company, and this can be quite useful if there is a problem with a car. They use Toyota landcruisers, with added, very comfortable suspension, and a rooftop that can be lifted up so that you can comfortably stand to watch and hear the animals in the national parks. Not all companies have such cars. The seats were also very comfortable, and the inside of the car was cleaned on a regular basis during the trip. Our driver, Josh, did a fantastic job driving and showing us around, and he was clearly sensitive to our wishes. We always felt safe, and Josh also let us put the music we wanted. :-) The personnel that handled the booking was also very helpful, and responded quickly to my e-mails. It's all very professional.Written August 9, 2024
- I4537ACfrancescam0 contributionsGreat 4D/3N trip with Derrick WadriaWe did 4 days Tour with Equator, Gorilla Trekking and Lake Mburo and were super satisfied with the trip! Derrick Wadria was the perfect guide, funny, knowledgeable and very flexible to meet our needs and schedule. He had always a smile on his face and this made our trip unforgettable. He also bought bananas and pineapple from the local vendors for us to try and they were delicious. The meals were always tasty, the quantity was adequate and the places we slept in were really charming. The setting of the tents in Bwindi was really magic and we loved the night fireplace and the garden around them. The tent in Lake Mburo was amazing, unfortunately we only slept 1 night there - but the view above the savanna was breathtaking. Also the management was very accommodating and reassuring as we had to adapt the standard itinerary to our afternoon flight. Only con was the car, we didn’t get the typical safari jeep but a tourist van - it was okayish but the front seats were staying right above the engine and sometimes it was too warm - plus the windows were smaller. If we ever come back to Uganda we will definitely book again with Home to Africa and possibly Derrick as guide :) Thank you!Written August 8, 2024

There aren’t enough superlatives to describe how wonderful this trip was. From our pre-trip communications to our last hugs with Karim, our experience with the Home to Africa team was exceptional. They worked with us to design a trip that met the various needs and dreams of our family of five. It surpassed our expectations! And Karim - tour guide extraordinaire! He continually went above and beyond. For instance, at one of the lodges there was no electric in our cozy, lovely tent cabin. My husband uses a CPAP machine to sleep at night. While we were sitting in the lodge sipping wine in front of a roaring fire and listening to live, native music before dinner, Karim and a staff member were running a cable and power strip through the woods down to our cabin so my hubby could plug in his machine! If you are looking to book a safari, please, look no further. You won’t be sorry. And ask for Karim!!!!

Our Safari with Home to Africa was extremely nice. Before embarking on our journey, communication with the company was seamless and Hedmond helped us in the organization of every detail and answered to all our questions. Even though the itineraries seem fixed, Home to Africa managed to accommodate every request. Upon arrival in Entebbe, we met our guide Karim, who was with us for the entire journey. His professional advice and wide knowledge on wildlife and other topics made our journey exceptional. The accommodations were all up to our expectations and even above, all of them had fantastic view on parks, provided good food and the personnel was always friendly and helpful. This was our first Safari experience and Home to Africa, and especially Karim, made an unforgettable experience that we aim to repeat very soon.

We had an excellent driver who knew a lot and helped us with all our questions. Very good service and quick response!
Everything was very good organised.
The lodges for murchison and the chimp trekking were very beautiful.
Little disappointed in the lodge at Queen Elizabeth. Not really friendly and not much to do in the environment.
For the rest we had a pleasant roadtrip with home to Africa.

Hi, what is the best month/time of year to do this trip? When we can expect the least amount of rain? And how many people usually do these tours in a group?
