3-day saint-Louis / Lompoul desert experience ( 2 nights)

By SENEGAL ODYSSEY TOURS
About
This popular 3-day tour allows you to experience the old city of Saint Louis, the first city to be created by the Europeans in French West Africa. As a UNESCO world heritage site, Saint Louis is still preserving much of its 19th century architecture. However, the old city reminds you a lot of New Orleans with its French influence and wood balconies lining the narrow streets. A city tour on horse-drawn carriage will allow you to explore some of city s best known landmarks built in the mid 19th century. A 2-hour drive from the old city takes us to LOMPOUL desert. Possibility of Camel ride. A lifetime overnight experience will allow you to enjoy the calmness and quietness in tradiditional tents with modern facilities in the middle of the desert. After breakfast, we will proceed for a 3-hour drive back to Dakar.

          Highly recommend
This tour was beyond incredible. Oumar was a phenomenal guide who went above and beyond during the tour -- and after. Not only did he show me around Goree Island and share his encyclopedic knowledge on a variety of topics, but he also gave me a quick tour of Dakar with an equally impressive knowledge of current events in West Africa right after. I can't recommend this tour enough -- especially with Oumar.

          Absolutely amazing team!
While in Dakar we have booked 2 tours: 1. Bandia Réserve, Pink lake and dune driving 2.City your and Gorée Island Oumar (our guide) and Samba (driver) were absolutely exceptional! Oumar passed tons of knowledge about history, traditions and culture of Senegal. He even taught us few useful words in Wolof which we used further on our trip in Casamance région 😁. All we have seen and learnt during 2 days could not be obtained from the typical guide books so we were extremely grateful to Oumar and for safe driving to Samba ❤️🇸🇳 Senegal Nexna Torop 👌🏻!

          Best Dakar experience!
I had a great time on this tour. Ishmael was an excellent guide and so personable and knowledgeable. And the driver, Samba, ferried us about expertly and safely. Couldn't have asked for a better team to explore Dakar with!

          Excellent service and knowledge
First off all. For us who dont speka the best French i would recommend these guys 10/10 times. They picked me up at the airport and drove me to the hotel. I have never gotten so much interesting information about a city/country ever the first couple hours in. Loved it. Oumar the owner came himself to pick me up to educate me on the country. I did a day tour through certain spots in and outside Dakar. The once worth mentioning is The African Renaissance Monument. It`s huge and has an interesting story about how the country was and maybe still is a bit. The next worth visiting on this day trip was Goree. Beautiful place with a horrible history. The guides they use are very good at knowing when to tell things and when to just let you walk around. I ended up using them for driving to Saly, from Saly and to airport again. Always helpful, funny guys who speaks english. If you need guides or help with anything in Dakar area and around these are the once you should use.

          A Tour of Dakar
Our guide Oumar, met us at the cruise dock and escorted us to our waiting bus. Although there was traffic congestion in the port, we managed to get away quickly. We had a driving tour through the city of Dakar with Oumar pointing out different sites such as Independence Square, government buildings, schools, and foreign embassies. We drove outside of the city to see the African Renaissance Monument located on one of the twin hills known as Collines de Mamelles. We had an opportunity to get off the bus, take pictures, and climb the 200+ steps to the base of the monument. After leaving, we drove by the Mosque of the Divinity and stopped on the bluff above for pictures. Our next stop was our Lady of Victories Cathedral, the largest church in Dakar. When we left there, Oumar said we’d be going to the ferry terminal for the ferry ride to Goree Island and to continue the afternoon part of our tour. However, when we arrived, we were informed that there was a mechanical problem with one of the ferries and it was not running; so, we weren’t going to be able to go to the island. Oumar offered us two options: a trip to Pink Lake or return to the ship. We opted for the return. Of course, all of us were disappointed but no more so than Oumar. He was clearly upset by the situation and not being able to share the history of Dakar’s past. The morning part of our tour was very enjoyable and informative. And if I ever return to Dakar, I will definitely book another tour with Oumar.

          Dakar and Goree Island
It was fantastic. Mr. Oumar Kebe was excellent and a walking encyclopedia about the history and historical aspect of Dakar. I was extremely please and I definitely would raise my (proverbial) hat and provide kudos to him. Dr. Michael T. Hamlet

          Seeing Senegal !!!
Great time out with OUMAR. I and my wife had a great time around the city and GOREE ISLAND was quite emotional but a great experience nevertheless. OUMAR bent over backwards to take us to the HLM market which was not part of the tour so we could pick up some fabrics. We had the Senegal Joloff rice at the end of the tour. My verdict - you can’t beat the Nigerian joloff. We will be back. You should visit Senegal and if you do OUMAR is most definitely your sure plug to guide and take you around. A waste of time
The tour of the City was useless. Driving amongst slums, partially built new homes for the rich on the beach was not what I expected. The afternoon visit to Goree Island was very interesting and quite moving. However, we missed the ferry and had to wait 1.5 hours in a crowded room for the next boat. The tour guide, although nice, was almost incoherent in English. The driver left us after we went to Goree and we had to take a cab back to the hotel. Best just to Goree by yourself.

Great half day trip to Goree Island
Oumar is a great guide. He was on time for the pickup, explained the process of how to get to the island and gave interesting snippets of information on the ferry ride. On the island we spent over 3 hours and he took us on a detailed tour of the last surviving slave house and other historical elements of Goree Island. Oumar is also an excellent photographer and a natural with identifying suitable photo locations and taking great shots

          Lamine the greatest guide!
Lamine is the greatest guide I could expect. He speaks perfect ENglish, German and French. Extremely knowledgeable, he explained the historical context of everything we saw and kindly accommodated my requests, such as finding a post office to send postcards. 100% recommend!

          Trustable guide and agent
The tour was fantastic. There was a huge line to get tickets for the boat to Goree Island, but the agent prepared it in advance so I could skip the whole line, wait little, and get a best seat on the boat. The guide took me around Goree Island which was a very interesting walk. The Slave House is a must-see if you ever come to Senegal. I requested and had a nice lunch at a local restaurant. The city tour part was easy, relaxing, and interesting. I would say avoid Sunday if you are keen to visit the lively markets. Overall, great experience. Thank you, Ismail!! And to those of you who might be worried about the secuirty in the city after some political unrest, the city is totally peaceful, calm, and safe. I thought about cancelling the visit before coming, but I'm so glad I didn't!!

Amazing and unforgettable day in Dakar
I personally like my dakar tour with Oumar, happy that I chose him as my tour guide, as I chose the right man as my guide. After I booked him one day before, he called me telling me in advance that the house of slaves closed on Monday but I know the museum is closed so I told him I will still proceed with the tour. He also gave me several options as well for the tour, finding the solution and the plan for me which I feel appreciated his enthusiasm. On the day itself, he came and picked me up in the lobby and started telling me about Senegal from A to Z. I like it as he knows so much about his country and history. I remembered most of the information he shared with me. He is very knowledgeable. We went out very early at 8am so I skipped my breakfast, he did get me the croissant just in case I'm hungry. During the tour itself, he really looked after me. Even the driver, Simba is also very responsible and driving in a responsible way. Simba also followed me during the whole tour and offered to help me carry my bag so that they can help me take a good picture for me. Oumar really helped me take a lot of nice photos. I am really happy and glad I have both of them. I really hope everyone can book them if you are going to Dakar. I promise you will never forget this trip and the experience. They have a high sense of hospitality just like any other Senegalese. Love everything from the booking till the end of the tour. Thank you for making my day in dakar.
