We would highly recommend Katona Tours and especially Chris as the guide/driver. We did a 10-day Uganda and Rwanda safari tour (including Kigali city, Nyungwe forest, Volcanoes Park, Twin lake, Bwindi Forest, Queen Elizabeth and Kibale Forest). From the start, Jackie was super helpful and patient with drafting our itinerary and addressing all the questions that we had. The price was very competitive too so we decided to go with Katona. We had Chris as our tour guide/driver and couldn’t be more happy with his service. Our flight was delayed for 10 hours and Chris had to wait at the aiport but he was very happy to see us and greet us with a big smile. Chris is an excellent driver and is very knowlegeable about the safaris and where to look for the animals. He is such a gentleman and treated us with respect and entertained us with many great stories, making sure we enjoy every moment of our trip. Highlights of the trip for us was chimpanzees, golden monkeys and gorillas trackking, as well as the boat & safari game drive in Queen Elizabeth NP. Seeing the primates in their natural habitats was an amazing experience. The boat trip was also very enjoyable, we saw a lot of elephants, buffalos and hippos. Overall, we enjoyed our trip a lot. All the accommodations were great and the activities are well arranged. We would definitely choose Katona Tour and Chris again if we have the chance to come back to Uganda/Rwanda.

The communication via email and whatsapp with the manager Jackie is very good and pleasant. A driver picked me up at 4.30am from Kigali for a 2.5h drive to the meeting point. Water was provided and he checked if I was comfortable during the drive. At the meeting point you meet other people who also booked to see the gorillas. The rest was taking care of by rangers. They guide you to see the gorillas, which is a once in a lifetime experience! After the hike I met the driver again to go for lunch and then back to Kigali. The driver could be a little better in communication. Overall a fantastic experience!

Tour operator Jackie and tour guide Emma displayed professionalism and communication that far exceeded my expectations. From our initial interaction via email to our conversations on WhatsApp, the entire process was smooth, and communication remained open throughout. Emma has an excellent spirit, and it's clear that he genuinely loves sharing information about his homeland. I highly recommend their services!

We had a 6 day tour of Uganda with Chris from Katona! The trip was amazing! We travelled with our two daughters and our guide was patient and thoughtful! He was extremely knowledgeable regarding gorillas and chimpanzees. He had extensive experience and was always willing to share! I am already planning our next trip! We saw both gorillas and chimpanzees and both were amazing! A dream come true!

Very professional from beginning to end. Smooth interaction via Whatsapp for inquiries, reservation and payment details. Our driver Emmanuel was a joy! He has a wealth of knowledge on flora, fauna and local culture and is a master in traffic. On time and always helpful. Also worth mentioning: a lovely stay at the Trekkers Travern Cottage. Perfectly located for the Bwinidi Park visit. Highly recommended. I hope next time we can stay longer!

Spent an amazing week in Rwanda trekking with the gorillas, golden monkeys, and chimpanzees, and going on a game and boat drive. I recommend it to anyone, and a shout out to Roland our tour driver. I recommend using them if you visit.

I’ve had the honour to spend 3days with him on my trip and it was a very educational experience for me. He’s extremely knowledgeable about Uganda and everything from nature, wildlife but also the political and economic side of the country. You will have very good discussions with him. This was the trip of a lifetime! We got to hike through the jungle and see so many animals in their natural habitat. Roland was an incredible guide. Very patient and tailored the activities to meet the wants of our group. He went above and beyond to make sure we had the most comfortable and fun trip! Can’t wait to go on another trip with him next year!

What’s app ahead of time, prompt and Kenneth was great driver. Tour was awesome, stopped for lunch near his village. Do this tour! 3am start from Kigali- border crossing easy with East African Visa ahead of time.
