About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- W6096JAchiarat0 contributionsGreat experienceLoved this masterclass! We learned so much about the whole chain of production of Question Coffee, from the coffee trees (which you can visit in the garden!) all the way to the coffee in our cups! Also really nice to learn how to smell and taste different types of coffee and ending with a nice certificate! Would do it again!Written January 9, 2025
- Neil N0 contributionsInformative and EngagingThe coffee masterclass is very informative and engaging! I learned a lot about how coffee is grown in Rwanda, where it was discovered, and even got to taste the coffee myself. Also, Question Coffee goes out of their way to support women-owned coffee cooperatives, which leads creates economic freedoms in Rwanda.Written December 17, 2024
- joeaH6006GJ0 contributionsEducational and friendly experience!Went for a solo experience to learn more about the coffee industry in Rwanda. My instructor Patm was extremely welcoming - her only rule was that i feel like im at home! I learned a lot about the evolution of coffee making in Rwanda, the impact of the industry in enabling women independence, and Question Coffee's mission. I came out of the 2-hour class a coffee tasting expert and a caffeine junkie - a happy manWritten November 7, 2024
- lukwagor20240 contributionsJust Perfect! As a ardent coffee drinker, a colleague recommended that I check this place out. And I must say, it never disappointed. Got to learn about the coffee value chain, the work that goes into ensuring quality to the tasting part. I really sucked at differentiating fragrance and smell amongst the various types of coffee.. But that's just me... You will totally love it here .Written September 1, 2024

- Q6391MJwilliamf0 contributionsGreat classA very valuable 2 hour class that covered the whole coffee process from growing to drinking and gave you all the things that created a unique flavorWritten May 21, 2024
- StevenPetroff0 contributionsExceeds expectationsThis maseterclass was fantastic! Better than I expected. I should clarify, that this is not a good choice for someone who wants to see a farm or the actual process. This is a classroom setting learning the ins and outs about history, flavor derivation (region, roasting, processing, etc.) The word I have used over and over with my friends is, "Fascinating!". For my class, the instructor and I compared four different beans, their scent and aroma and the many aspects of flavor. So informative!Written March 27, 2024
- judithn6290 contributionsEverything you never knew about coffeeVery informative. Great instructor. Learned that I have not been a very discerning coffee drinker! Would do this class again just to hone my skills.Written February 25, 2024
- scottfG1753VS0 contributionsExcellent Caffeinated Experience! The specialty coffee masterclass provides students with knowledge to identify and appreciate the nuances in coffee grown in different regions. The class is also an excellent way to learn about the history, cultivation, production and culture of coffee in Rwanda. We met our wonderful guide Patti at Question Coffee Cafe in Kigali where we were greeted with freshly brewed coffee and croissants. From there, we drove with our own car (although transport can be also organized by QC) to Kayonza city where we stopped to order lunch at the Women's Opportunity Centre. Then, we drove to the TUK Cooperative farm where we picked up Agnes, the cooperative's president. In this first stop, we were greeted by a group of lovely lady farmers who sang, danced and illustrated in detail the coffee cultivation process. Subsequently, we drove with Patti and Agnes to their washing station where we given an explanation of coffee processing as well as a tasting session. Finally, we drove back to Kayonza where we had a nice lunch. At the Opportunity Centre, there was also a souvenir shop with local handmade items. When we returned to Kigali, Question Coffee offered us a coffee gift and another delicious coffee!
The whole experience was educational for coffee lovers but also very insightful in regard to the dedication and hard work of these proud Rwandan women. The drive itself is an experience, particularly the part from Kayonza to the coffee farm - you literally drive through innumerable banana plantations and pass by several small rural villages. We appreciated the human connection and we recommend this farm trek to anyone. Also well done to Question Coffee for organizing the activity in a professional and informative way!

Such a fantastic day. Question Coffee were very warm and welcoming, with our tour guide full of useful and interesting information. It’s was excellent to meet all the TUK coffee growers, with them showing us the coffee growing process from seed to harvest. Very friendly and so passionate about coffee! We’ll never look at coffee the same way again - can’t recommend this day trip enough.

Keziah is truly amazing! I thoroughly enjoyed my time learning from her about "honey" coffee and the diverse aromatics, scents, and flavors that make Rwandan coffee so dynamic. I feel incredibly privileged to support such an outstanding social enterprise that not only does good but also maintains a high standard for its products.

I am a huge coffee fan and this day trip helped me to learn a lot about the very long process that is required to fuel my mornings. The farm is about 2 hours outside Kigali, and I had a great conversation with the tour guide, Smayah, as we drove. She developed the tour and her story was inspiring. The coffee cherries are processed March through June, but I didn't feel like anything was missing for my visit in January. The tour includes a coffee or espresso before you leave and a 250g bag of beans when you finish (I bought more!) A great day, well worth the money.

I went on the farm tour with one of my girlfriends and fell in love. We left Kigali early in the morning and spent about 2 hours in the car talking about coffee with our guide. They had a lot of interesting facts about coffee and were open to our random questions about any other topic.
When we arrived to the farm we were greeted by an unforgettable dance and song from the farmers. They took us through all the steps and preparations on the coffee farm before having us roast, grind and taste our own coffee.
From there the guides took us to lunch and shopping at a nearby women's centre and continued to answer all of our questions about life on the farm. Coffee will never be the same again!

Signing up for this trip I wasn't sure what to expect. After all, 8 hrs is a lot of time, a whole day activity. Well, suffice it to say - it was a wonderful. My guides Tessy and Gisele met me at Question Coffee in Kigali. After a complementary coffee, I joined them and our driver on trek that would take me to visit not just a farm where coffee is grown, but also a coffee washing station where beans are washed and processed for shipment.
At the farm and processing station I was greeted by the staff, primarily all women, who explained the entirely natural process they use to grow coffee in their collective. I learned a lot, and suffice it to say, appreciate that behind each bean is a lot of care and attention. Now, more than ever I'll make sure to purchase coffee that is as ethically grown and processed as I witnessed in Rwanda.
Suffice it to say, a very memorable experience that I highly recommend to coffee lovers who visit Kigali and/or Rwanda.
