About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- annechop0 contributionsAmazing experience. Flawless organization.Amazing trip and seamlessly organized. Rwanda Eco Company did everything so well. Great communication (thanks Reginal) and personal itinerary. Augustin was a safe driver, informative considerate and a great sense of humour. (Thanks for airport pickup on last day). Itinerary included visit to a women's coop in Kigali which showcased women being trained for professions that could ultimately lead to financial independence. You can buy some of the finished products at their store. Excellent quality products. One of their representatives took us on a street tour that included lunch at a local home, which was super informative so thanks Rwandaeco for including. The Genocide Museum was a very emotive experience but Wens Coop tour suggests there is a new, positive Rwanda today. Of course the highlight was the Gorilla Trek - whole thing was expertly arranged and managed by Augustine. A bucket list experience. Our accommodation at Da Vinci Gorilla Lodge was also a highlight. One thing they could add to their itinerary was the Ellen Degeneres Dian Fossey campus. Apart from that our experience was amazing. A real surprise was Rwanda’s beautiful countryside. Kigali was spotless, no hawkers and also very organised. Felt very safe on the streets. People were very helpful and friendly. Thanks, Reginal and Augustin.Written November 11, 2024
- nwm5770 contributionsHighly recommend for gorilla trekking adventureWe had a wonderful experience doing the gorilla trek in Rwanda. They got our permits and arranged everything. We had a driver pick us up at our hotel in Kigali at 4:30 am, we arrived on time for the gorilla trek briefing at 7 am, our driver made sure we got in a good group with a guide who took us to see a family of 35 gorillas (including 4 silverbacks and many babies), he stopped for our lunch on the drive back and took care of everything we needed. I would highly recommend Rwanda Eco Co for your gorilla trekking adventure.Written October 15, 2024
- EDAMASHEK0 contributionsRwanda with Rwanda Eco exceeded our expectations! We had a great time with Rwanda Eco! Our experience overall was seamless. We enjoyed an itinerary that combined unique wildlife and cultural experiences to show some of the best of Rwanda!Written September 26, 2024
- AlbertoElizondo0 contributions8-Day Adventure - Amazing! My partner and I just got back from an 8-day trip in Rwanda and Uganda with Rwanda Eco, and it was amazing. The whole thing was really well organized - they told us everything we needed to know upfront and planned the trip meticulously, so there were no surprises along the way. Our guide, Jado, was great. He was super friendly, knew a lot about the area, and answered all our questions. He was also a really good driver, which was important because some of the roads were a bit rough. The best part of the trip was seeing the gorillas. It was unreal to see them up close in the wild - definitely something we'll never forget. Rwanda Eco took care of everything, from nice places to stay to great food. I'd definitely recommend them if you're looking for an awesome adventure.Written July 29, 2024
- I1693WZkathrynf0 contributionsFantastic experience! So nice for a solo travelerI used Rwanda Eco Company for a 1 day Gorilla Trek on Saturday July 27th. It was truly a fantastic experience. Even before the trek, the communication from this company was top-notch. They were quick to respond to my emails and answered every question I had very kindly. Their incredible organization was the reason I chose this agency. On the day my guide, Ben, ensured I had the perfect experience and that everything went as smoothly as possible. The day started when Ben came to pick me up from my accommodation at 4:30 am. Ben was there right when I came out. I appreciated that he was not only on time but also early so we could hit the road right away! The car was very comfortable and the drive was very nice. Once we got to the park, he made sure that I got to see one of the best families and I ended up seeing a family of 14 gorillas. It was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Afterward, we had a delicious lunch and then drove back to Kigali. From start to finish, the day was perfect and Ben was a great guide and wonderful company. He made sure I was very comfortable and had plenty of water and food, plus some extra treats that made the day that much better. I would recommend this company and Ben to anyone visiting Rwanda. I look forward to next week when I do my Akagera Safari with Rwanda Eco Company!Written July 28, 2024
- T4722GDtoms0 contributionsUnforgettable first safariBen, our driver, gave us an excellent experience! He went above and beyond, talking with park rangers, other drivers, and park staff to get info on where we could see some of the iconic wildlife. We managed to see 4 of the big five and countless others. On top of that, he managed to fix another tourist's car after they stalled it and couldn't get it to start again. I would absolutely recommend going with this company for a safari!Written July 17, 2024
- sararD6187FC0 contributionsOnce in a lifetime experience!Beautiful experience, we wanted to experience nature and gorilla trekking, but also culture, food and people and the Rwanda Eco Company and Theo, our guide/driver, managed to make us live the dream. It's been a once in a lifetime experience that we'll never forget.Written July 14, 2024
- patrickkI3691OA0 contributionsGorilla trek was amazing!I went on a 1-day gorilla trek and it was one of the best experiences I've ever done. My driver/guide Emile was very nice and thoroughly communicated what was happening each step of the way. The park rangers and staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. - kitcatta0 contributionsDon’t wait -just pack your bags and go!Just finished an AMAZING trip through Rwanda with Reginal at Rwanda Eco Company who coordinated a fun and activity-packed trip, and of course my amazing driver guide Augustin! I told Reginal I only had eight days to spend because of work constraints but he made sure I had wonderful activities every day. Of course, the highlight was trekking up to see the gorillas, but he added a boat trip on Lake Kivu (which is more the size of an ocean) including a hike up to Napolean Island--the boat ride and hike were my 2nd favorite part of the trip! Oh, and they arranged for a surprise birthday party for me! I was travelling solo, and I've never felt safer-or been more amazed at what a turnaround Rwanda has made and how wonderful the people here are. Also, how CLEAN the country is--they actually clean their neighborhoods once a month as a country--we could learn some things from them! Don't wait--pack your bags and go! By the way I got great information reading over the forums here on Tripadvisor recommend that you do that before you go!Written July 9, 2024
- FoodTravelEnjoy0 contributionsFantastic Akagera tour and guideWe did a 2 day trip to Akagera National Park and we enjoyed the tour very much. The overall trip, night game drive and the boat trip on Lake Ihema were absolutely amazing. We saw many, many animals, e.g. Zebras, Waterbuck, Crocs, Hippos, Giraffes, Buffalos, a cerval cat (night time), monkeys and many birds. Akagera Game Lodge is wonderful, especially the food, staff and lake views. Emile, our guide is very kind, he taught us about Rwandan culture and animals, he is a good guide, safe driver and has a nice eye for spotting animals. I hope to plan a trip again with him some time.Written July 6, 2024
- chamba20180 contributionsStunning wildlife tour through RwandaJust returning from a stunning 4 days tour with Augustin, one of the best guides and carful driver we ever met. We enjoyed chimpanzees spotting, canopy walk, bats on Napoleon Island and a wonderful boat trip, and an incredible 1 hour with 22 mountain gorillas in Rwanda. An unforgettable Journey.Written May 28, 2024
- vt260 contributionsUnforgettable experience !I had a wonderful three day trip that was organised by Rwanda Eco Company & Safaris. My guide Emile was so considerate and could not have done more to make my trip the best experience ever. Arranging my itinerary online was very easy and I was able to see the gorillas and enjoy the shores of Lake Kivu. I would absolutely recommend Rwanda Eco Company & Safaris as a solo female traveller, and will remember this incredible trip for life. Thank you team !! <3Written February 20, 2024
- 622ems0 contributionsAWESOME one day trip to Akagera National ParkPerfect tour! From planning the trip with Fred to enjoying the day with our guide/drivee Jardo, my experience was easy and fun. We had the perfect one-day excursion to Akagera National Park. Saw four of the five big 5 animals, as well as numerous other animals. Jardo patiently facilitated our groups birdwatching, in addition to seeing all of the other safari animals. Jardo was friendly, kind, punctual, and responsible. I couldn't have asked for a better excursion.Written February 7, 2024
- Itchyfeet0240 contributionsOne-Stop Worry-Free AdventureI have nothing but praise for this tour company. We did a 4-day tour of Kigali City, gorilla trek, golden monkey & safari at Akagera National Park & all we had to do was show up. Everything were efficiently arranged by Reginal from hotel pick up to drop off. His drivers took us on a Kigali City tour then over to Volcanoes National Park & then Akagera National Park. Park permits, transport vehicles, accommodation at Akagera & some meals were all taken care of. We had two drivers/guides that took us to all those places, Augustin & Bosco. We spent the most time with Bosco who took us to Volcanoes NP & Akagera NP on a safari. He was surprisingly knowledgeable about animals & where to spot them. If you want a worry free all-in arrangement, look no further.Written January 29, 2024

I had a fantastic day with my driver and a unique time with the gorillas. Despite booking at short notice, everything worked out great. I was picked up on time and everything was explained to me. The time with the gorillas was a lifelong dream. The meal in the restaurant afterwards was excellent. I would like to highlight my driver again, who took care of my well-being.

I went to Rwanda on business and was a little afraid to go on a tour by myself as I only had two days before my flight back home. I met Fred from Eco Safari at Rwanda Conference Center and decided to take chances as I have always wanted to go gorilla trekking! Fred is a very experienced agent and offered me the best service: a great car and Eric, a very polite and respectful guide who helped turn my trip into an unforgettable experience. I had enough time to go and return in time to be at the airport at 6pm. The lodge was nice and near the park. The road is a bit challenging but we made it! I truly recommend Rwanda Eco Safari!

Dear Christina,
Hahhaaahaha, let me laugh bite. You were so afraid, until i had to take an oath of refunding your air ticket in case you miss the flight.
Thank God, you were on time and too early than you expected. You scared the hell out f me, with many question, on how you were so afraid, but i made sure i make you feel comfort and go enjoy the two day's gorilla trekking.
You met your dream trip.
I still look forward to see you soon !!!1

Gorillas? Totally worth it.
Our driver for the trip, Jean Paul, was awesome! He met us at the airport, and when we asked him to stop for breakfast/lunch on the way to our lodge, he brought us to a fabulous hotel in Kigali, where we enjoyed a beautiful view. The road to the lodge was absolutely stunning with spectacular views of Rwanda's verdant countryside.
The lodge was exactly what we needed. Wonderful, personal service in a reasonably appointed space. The staff even dried out my boots, which were wet from the day before.
On Gorilla day:
We requested an easy hike because... reasons. After a brief meeting at the Gorilla centre, Jean Paul drove us about 90 minutes to the trail head. We walked for less than an hour, and then... there they were! We spent exactly one hour with a group of about 16 Gorillas. I can't imagine ever getting this close to wild animals again!
The next day we saw the Golden Monkeys -- also fun -- and visited the Helen Degeneres Centre for Gorillas, which has wonderful exhibits. We also saw the Rwandan Historical village, which is a living exhibit of traditional crafts, music, and dance. The Village is cool. Just go in ready to appreciate the work the people do and enjoy the dances, music, and crafts.
Day three we drove back to Kigali, where we stayed at the Hotel Rwanda (from the movie). The next day Jean Paul took us to the Genocide Museum followed by a quick photo-taking tour of Kigali before dropping us at the airport. The Genocide Museum is heartbreaking and an absolute essential. I'm so glad we saw it. Thanks, Rwanda Eco Tours for an unforgettable four-day trip!

Does this take you across the border into Uganda? What about if a visa is required?
Written August 15, 2019
The trip takes you across to Uganda. It easier to reach Bwindi via Kigali than Entebbe, as it is 4hrs drive from Kigali compared to 9hrs drive from Entebbe.
For Visa, you can easily get upon arrival in Kigali. You can get East Africa Visa which is 100$. Or you can decide to get each country visa on arrival but East Africa makes it easier and less 10$, compared to when getting each country visa.
