      Amazing time at Ebony!
It was great trekking on the trail and bumping into Tortoise — enjoyed every bit of it. Especially loved the staff (Chris and Shivam) who were very helpful and friendly. Chris is an amazing driver and was able to show us things we wouldn’t have been able to see otherwise. Muchas gracis, Chris!!

Ebony trees, jeep tour and musuem
Visited the Ebony Forest in Mauritius and started with a short museum tour, but very informative, and you will learn everything about the island. The walk through the forest was refreshing, showcasing the native ebony trees leading to the summit. For an easier ascent or in case you have less time, a guided jeep tour is available, where guides like Chris offer friendly and helpful insights. A must see for those interested in Mauritius's natural history and scenic beauty.

Brilliant - highlight of our holiday
Brilliant tour by excellent guides. Damien and Jounne (apologies if not spelt correctly) guided us by spotting birds and informing us about the Ebony Forest as a whole. Knowledgable as well as easy to talk to generally about the flora, fauna and Mauritius as a whole. Four people c two guides - amazing. Thank you

Well worth a visit for the view alone
Well worth a visit. We decided to walk to the top and the view there is quite incredible. Unfortunately, my husband was affected by the high humidity which raised his sugar levels and caused a problem with his ability to walk back down without diffculty. I would like to thank Sonia for assisting me by getting a ranger to pick him up. They were all so kind and willing to take us back to our hotel but my husband was feeling well enough to drive after half an hour rest. Thank-you all for your kindess to us.

      Ebony Forest Reserve
I visited this breath-taking place last week. we started from museum enough to fill tourists with some necessary information, along with that they have souvenir shop and clean rest room. All the staff is very welcoming and friendly. Then we took Safari Ride to explore the very calm and lush green forest. I must say worthwhile visit this place.:)

      Amazing nature walk
We visited with teenagers. A great experience. Very friendly and helpful staff. Started at the museum which was very informative and just the right amount of information. We did a self guided walk which we would highly recommend. Walk was well signposted. Paths were narrow with lots of tree roots so required some concentration, steep in places. Enjoyed being right in the forest and amongst the wildlife. Saw plenty of birds, geckos and tortoises. Stopped at the Sublime view point for cold drinks and snacks - chilli bites and samosas and ice creams were available. Incredible views to the coast. Toilets available at the top. Lovely shop at the reception. Can fill water bottles here ( but not at the view point at the top) The walk was very sweaty but shady in the trees. This is a great experience, not too touristy and a perfect way to explore the true Mauritius

      Great place to visit!
We went on a guided birdwatching tour. It was a great way to learn more about ebony trees, endemic species of fauna and flora as well as the history of Mauritius. We also hiked up to the viewing point with an amazing view of the coast and the lagoon.

August 2023 family visit with teens
Well worth a visit to the Ebony forest . This is a privately run nature reserve to preserve the remaining indigenous ebony trees and wildlife. We did the Jeep tour with the teens. The tour guide was very friendly and knowledgeable, but to be honest, we could have just done the hike/walk tour as it wasn't unbearably hot and a bit on the pricey side. Jeep tour maybe better for families with young children.

Not sure what to expect with this tour but it was a great outing and morning adventure. We were the only ones on the tour, and our guide was fantastic. We started with the museum tour which they talked about the plants and animals, and then the ride up to the forest, which was pretty wild. It beats walking all that way for sure, then we did the forest tour and on the way back to the other side we did the tree planting. We were doing it with our toddler who was enjoying the whole thing, well, maybe not the fly in her eye, but for our case it wasn't a romantic outing. We then were brought up to the lookout which we didn't know about and had the most amazing view. From there we had our snack and drinks enjoying the platform to our selves and then finally taken back down the mountain again. I feel like this tour and adventure is one of the hidden charms of the island. If you are reading this review don't hesitate to book this trip.

We visited here and did the Love tour, contacting Ebony the night before to book for the following day and they were very responsive.

If you have any interest in nature then I’d really recommend visiting Ebony. We loved it - it’s so clear that the guides are super passionate about everything they’re doing and have a lot of knowledge to share.

The viewpoint literally took our breath away - it is incredible! We were so lucky to visit on a clear day.

Only 2 bits of constructive feedback:
    • we had hoped to look around the shop following our visit, but unfortunately it was closed by the time we were finished with the tour (around 5:20pm)
    • we would love an opportunity to get updates on our tree after it’s been planted. Will the tag be kept on the tree / will it continue to be traceable? (Didn’t see tags on any other trees!) Appreciate that this may not be feasible, but even if Ebony offered some type of sponsorship opportunity where you could commit a fee each year to continue getting updates on your tree and contribute to the work Ebony forest is doing, we’d be interested :)

Booked this experience and didn’t regret it. For me it was the highlight of all the trips we booked while on our honeymoon. Our guide Albey was considerate, friendly and knowledgeable. He gave us a real insight into the conservation and restoration work being done in the Ebony Forest as well as giving us the space and time to enjoy the experience as a couple.
We saw endemic wildlife and if course learned a lot about ebony and how it is now protected.
Planting our love tree was very special and took little time to do as everything was prepared for us. The jeep ride to the top of the mountain was great fun and the view don’t disappoint. We were offered hot snacks and a drink to enjoy with the view.
Whilst there are a good number of visitors to this forest the plant a tree experience is possibly not so well known about, and I would really encourage couples to take this option when visiting. You really will be making a difference in continuing the work being done here by the team.
    Thank you x

The communication with the provider and with/via Tripadvisor was abysmally bad, we actually didn't know until an hour before the meeting whether it would take place! Then the taxi driver called, various emails were not answered and the cancellation button refused.
Guys, this is not acceptable. Then it wasn't a couples event but together with another family of 4. Why we were only allowed to plant one tree but paid for 2 people is a mystery to me. There was food, a jeep transfer, a guided tour with guide CHRIST (very competent in English & French) the best view of a mountain, great plants and a few animals to see. Overall I thought over 70 euros plus a taxi transfer of 130 euros from the north was far too expensive. Mmm, what a pity. But the idea of learning and leaving something sustainable behind was great. Just keep improving the event!

Greetings, we are sorry that the visit did not meet your expectations. We had a look at the exchanges through tripadvisor's booking system, and noticed that our team replied to you on the 31st March, and we only got a reply on the 7th April at 9:37 pm. Our team responded early morning the next day as they started work. It was advised in our first message to confirm the time to contact us directly on our mail, written in the message. Our description of the visit was also clear that it is a shared activity, no transfer is included, as we meet our guest at our reserve. 1 plant is planted as it is the Love Tree, one to unite. We received a call on the day which our staff answered mentioning you will be 15- 20 mins late, we accommodated with the other people who were on time and gave the service.
