About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- egreshake0 contributionsDiving Blue World ExplorersThe experience was very nice, my daughter and I did it for the first time. Our guides Jeremy and Brasille were really kind and helpful. They gave us good instructions and advices which helped us to have a really fun and nice experience. We did it one time at the Anelia Resort and one time at the Westin Turtle Bay Resort. All in all it was really incredible, the water was blue and we saw a lot of beautiful fishWritten July 31, 2024
- Max K0 contributionsScammedDid 2 days diving with this company and dived out of the their centre next to the Westin (they have multiple centres in Mauritius). Contacted Mukesh months in advance to arrange a special dive to snake island - he responded to say that this was all ok and booked (as long as the weather was fine). First day dives were around the Troux aux biches area. We arrived on time and got kit setup. We then waited almost an hour for divers from two other resorts to arrive via car and boat. The divers that arrived from another resort decided not to dive with us as the boat appeared too crowded (6 divers including us on the boat, if they had joined this would mean a total of 11 divers on a very small boat). We did the two dives which were kept very short 30 mins each due to beginner divers on the boat. First dive one of the beginners had a free flowing regulator which was swapped out for another set. After we got back onshore we were told that we could not go to snake island the next day due to a full moon causing the main attraction (sharks) not to be there. This seemed odd and I contacted many other dive centres to ask if this is true (it was not). Other factors at play for sharks not to be there but there is still a chance to see them. We did not want to do another reef dive so I spoke to the centre and said we would not go. After a few phonecalls between the dive centre staff we were told that we would go to snake island if weather was fine. We said ok and would be there for the agreed time the next day. The next day we turned up at the agreed time and got everything ready. Checked my tank pressure and it was low at 150 bar. Got this topped up and all other tanks checked (a few more at lower pressures as well). A review further down points to the same situation occurring to them, clearly a recurring issue. Again had to wait another hour for all divers to turn up. Asked instructors before we got on the boat if we were going to snake island and response was yes but we would see what weather was like when we were sailing. The boat turned up with 2 beginner divers which was odd considering that the snake island site is for advanced divers only. We boarded and started our journey. Some bumps as we made our way to coin de mire (on the way to snake island) but nothing huge. We immediately stopped at coin de mire island and were told we were not going to snake island due to weather. We were offered a discount on some further diving at the local dive sites immediately which was again odd. We did the 2 dives at coin de mire island and then returned. A few issues with again a set of free flowing regs, boat engine cutting out mid journey and boat going broadside when dropping off other divers. We believe we were lied to about ever going to snake island. The dive shop had clearly made the decision that we would go to an easier dive site before we got on the boat due to beginner divers having been booked on. I whatsapped Mukesh about this and was told that the decision to not go was based on weather. He said the beginner divers had texted in the morning to say they would join us. He also said he would never take beginner divers to this site. He said the beginner divers had messaged in the morning to come on a dive trip. This would mean that we were never going to snake island and should have been told this before we got on the boat. Offered Mukesh a meeting to talk through this in person but did not get one. I’ve dived many time in Mauritius over a period of 9 years - there are much better centres to go to in terms of safety and customer service. I would certainly not recommend diving with this centre.Written December 31, 2023
- Rich70L0 contributionsOk but…Booked 12 dives at 2 sites. Mixed bag…initially did dives at west of Mauritius. Dives generally good, advanced diver and asked for wrecks and depth, got them, issues, often hanging around for over 1 hr to get out to dive, last day, the instructor had no dive computer, and no smb, so relied on my watch and blowing bubbles before surfacing. South, shallow reef after shallow reef, often with newly qualified divers, so skills still not that good, which limited the dives, times, types. Not certain the staff were that interested in diving or finishing early and pulling dives.. If hadn’t brought a package would have not bothered.Written November 16, 2023
- 761ashwans0 contributionsSafe and Amazing Diving ExperienceWent on an offsite with colleagues, it was a surprise organized by our boss as we were all unaware of the activity that was awaiting us. The staff reassured us and did a step-by-step process which slowly built self-confidence in us. 04 colleagues do not know how to swim at all and are scared of water. They allowed themselves to be guided and decided to lay all their trust in the crew. In the end we all had an amazing experience, some conquering conquering their fears and allowing themselves to immerse into the deep blue waters and discover another world, one of peace and serenity. Thank you again Brian, Khushal and Pranay for being so patient, caring, strong and professional. The diving was done near turtle bay in the north west and heads off to a crew who knows how to assist people with empathy.Written November 15, 2023

It was truly a great experience with the crew who assisted to make everything tun as smooth as possible which it did. Once again a huge Thanks to the team for making it a surely memorable 1. - Neerajsanghvi0 contributionsGreat instructorThe instructor was great. Temperament was calm, composed. He was very patient with my mom and helped her overcome the fear of water and helped her do her first dive too. Truly professional and highly skilled and talented teamWritten December 29, 2022
- Rumoconut_Anna0 contributionsExcellent diving with fun and professional teamBlue World Explorers were recommended by our hotels - SALT of Palmar and Lux Le Morne. We booked 6 dives with them during our stay and it was a highlight of our trip. We did 4 dives on the East Coast - the groups were small and we had dive master Christmas to ourselves both times - he and his team were great fun, professional and relaxed. We enjoyed the reefs but the wreck dive was a particular highlight. The water is pretty choppy on the East Coast at the surface - something to be aware of if you are prone to seasickness or a little nervous. We also did 2 dives from their base at Lux Le Morne in the South, in a slightly bigger group. The water here is calmer and as well as excellent diving, the dive team kindly ensured we saw dolphins and whales from the dive boat, which was really special. Temp on the bottom was 22 degrees C and I got a little chilly with the 3mm wetsuit provided - so I would recommend bringing extra layers for the dive and for the boat to warm up. We really loved diving with Blue World Explorers and would 100% recommend!Written October 30, 2022
- Tez240 contributionsWhere Are The Fish?I did 10 dives over 18 days from the BWE base at the Intercontinental Hotel in September 2022. I am AOW with 450+ dives. E mail communication with Mukeshi was very good and my questions answered promptly. Told bottom temp would be 24C but it turned out to be 22C. I was so glad that I had taken my 6mm suit. Most diuvers were using supplied 3mm and were very cold after just one dive. I was told that usual larger boat was out of commission. As I was often the only diver from the hotel, this meant using a small boat to pick up a larger boat at hotels further up the coast; with the same transfer arrangements on the return. This all took time and often meant a whole morning was spent doing two dives. I would recommend the wreck dives but the reef dives were disappointing. The corals were not in good condition, with almost no soft corals and although there was a good variety of fish, their numbers were very limited. This was an obvious change from 8 years ago when I last dived the west coast of Mauritius.. The facilities at the centre were limited. Wash tanks consisted of one pastic barrel cut in half. Outside drying facility was draping suit and BCD over the balustrade around the centre. On three occasions I was given tanks with less than 150 bar (fortunately noticed and replaced before boat set off. Would novices have noticed?) Because of above, I only rate as averageWritten October 29, 2022
- 203maxwellt0 contributionsAmazing experienceMy wife & I completed our PADI Open Water Diver certification with Pascal and his team. We started in the pool before moving into the sea. Pascal and Stephane explained/ demonstrated every exercise clearly & calmly, making it easy to pick up and eliminate any fears. For someone who had never dived before, it was a magical experience. We were fortunate to see dolphins, turtles and loads of colourful fish; I highly recommend it.Written October 19, 2022
- Andreas P0 contributionsGood Equipment, competent friendly and nice TeamWe are certificate divers and have done 2 guided dives from the Lux grand gaube Hotel - excellent dives and the Team was very friendly and courteous. All in all very good.Written October 17, 2022
- KazAsh70 contributionsRecommend for anyone needing a refresher sessionI completed my Pool Refresher with Blue World. We used the pool at the Penniusla Hotel. All paperwork and equipment was sorted before the 2 minute walk to the pool. My instructor was very patient and clear with his instructions. He went though the drills above water and under the water before I followed. He was calm and patient thoughout.Written October 7, 2022

- Joshclapp900 contributionsAmazing Dive CentreFirst class dive centre great helpful staff after just passing my open water back in the UK to having my first proper dive with this company made me feel very comfortable under the water picked some cracking dive sites and suited me as I was on my honeymoon and could sneak away for one single dive after my first one I had to go again my rented regulators could have been doing with a few o rings replaced only faultWritten March 16, 2022
- Androsiuk7750 contributionsThe best option for scuba diving in Mauritius, especially for certified divers!Mukesh and the whole team at Blue World Explorer were outstanding. As a qualified diver I requested a variety of different diving trips and the company went above and beyond to meet my requests. The majority of my diving was done on the east coast near Mahebourg with Ludovic who was a great dive guide! I also managed to dive in the west at a sister centre in Flic en Flac which was also arranged by the company and was equally great diving. I would highly recommend this company for any certified divers (or people wishing to learn) as not only to they tailor the diving to client, they have 15 centre across the island ensuring you can really experience sub surface mauritius!Written March 8, 2022
- aldell10 contributionsDiscover Scuba Diving course with BernardI'd been eyeing up trying Scuba Diving all holiday and finally spoke to Bruno at our hotel (LUX* Belle Mare) towards the end of the holiday. He introduced me to the amazing Bernard (pictured!) and the next day I completed the Discover Scuba Diving (DSD) plan at the Solana Beach Resort just up the road which transport was arranged for. Bernard and I both felt comfortable to do the initial training in shallow sea inside the lagoon which replicated swimming pool conditions and meant that I could start seeing marine life straightaway - a big plus for me! He put me at ease straightaway by going above and beyond the learning required for DSD, and I loved our full 35 minute dive which followed inside the lagoon - highlights included seeing eel, boxfish, starfish, sea cucumbers, as well as learning all about how to enjoy all aspects of diving. I'm now spending all my spare time researching doing the full open water PADI course and can't wait to return to see Bernard and the team again one day. Thank you so much! 😁Written January 24, 2022

I was nervous before going to Mauritius so I contacted several dive shops, only two responded. One of them was Blue World. They coincidentally had a dive shop location at my hotel which worked out PERFECTLY! We got multiple dive packages as we were already certified divers. They worked with us for our timing and desires (three dives a day, night dives) and we had no trouble when we went to Flic en Flac and used the Blue World dive shop there. Things run on island time but there was no need to worry- everything was well taken care of, never had any problems. Helpful people, equipment was good, no problems at all. We are so glad we went with them and would highly recommend them to anyone! Surprisingly reasonable prices too!

Superior dives!!. If you want to try out diving, this is the very good place. Instructors care that you know everything needed to dive safely and have fun.
If you are an experienced diver, They know all the spots for a great dive and They will make sure you have a fantastic experience.
For me, I like to be back here again, becouse people working for blueworldexplorers have a passion for diving and a passion for people who want to dive.

This review is given with a lot of thought and consideration for the content.
I can 100% state I would not use this "Dive Centre" again. Or recommend them.
It lacked care, communication, safety and was ridiculously expensive, and they charged more than was quoted.
My partner and I travelled to Mauritius in January and stayed at the Intercontinental.
They had a dive centre (Shack) on site and I enquired before I left the UK and was given pictures of the boat. Looked ok, reasonable, and advised that its back roll, which I dont particularly like, however they said they would assist.
I am AOW however havent done a vast amount of dives, approx 50 and hadnt dived in a while.
The "Dive Shack" lacked main facilities, lacked English speaking staff, and most of all lacked good service.
For the first dive we didnt go out on the boat initially stated, and our dive guide spoke no English at all.
The Dive itself was horrendus, no proper briefing, and due to the weather (which of course the dive centre can not control) it was extremley choppy!!
My equipment is old, and the regulator was whistling throughout the dive, making me feel very unconfident with their annual checks.
The worst part was resurfacing, we came up and the boat was no where to be seen. Being on the surface of a really really choppy ocean for over 10 minutes with huge waves was not a good experience. The Inflatable signalling tube was up, however we were still awaiting the boat.
Trying to get back on this tiny boat, where the waves are smashing me up against it, and them not giving me any briefing on how to embark back onto the boat was not acceptable. I am used to holding the ladder, taking my fins off, passing them up.
They were just shouting, of which I couldnt hear due to the waves around my head, and by the time I got up on the boat I was having a full blown panic attack.
This wasnt dealt with very well, and I did not go out on a second dive.
And to add injury to insult they charged us extra as it was what they called a Safari Dive!! I am 100% - Messages on my phone they did not advise us of this additional Rs 2000 on top of the diving, on top of the transfer cost.
Lack of clear communcication, lack of care, my most disappointing Diving Experience ever.
I have dived in various places in the world, and this Dive centre did not meet even basic requirments, in my opinion.
No resolve from the "management"

Hello thanks a lot fo your review , we do have all details explained to you every single moment and the team did inform you about the programs and organisation. just a false review to attract attention. I think you have to be thankful our team took great care of you and your partner. just because you have been charged for extra of Rs 2000 which you were informed well before going for the trip and now all these list.. this is completely unfair for people like you . smiling and saying all ok infant of us and then going back and throwing all sorts of things because of the paying Rs 2000 extra.
