About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- NnJuk0 contributionsMadagascar full circuit made possible by Dadamanga. Thank you!We had two weeks to see Madagascar. After a lot of independent research, we put together a trip that was pretty intense: Morondava, Kirindy, Tsingy, Belo sur Mer, Morombe, Ankasy, Tulear, Ranohira, Andringitra, Ranomafana, Antsirabe, Andasibe and back to Tana. Dadamanga made the trip possible. Pre-trip organisation and info was excellent, our driver guide Theo was fantastic and went above and beyond getting us round the country, and the background admin and support during the trip helped it go well (preempting food allergy issues, sorting hotel problems etc.). Having travelled independently around 70+ countries, we couldn't have got round the route ourselves; but Dadamanga did and with a smile and good value. Thank you!!Written September 8, 2024
- ulok20160 contributionsGLORIOUSGLORY, our entire trip was filled with GLORY ~ we usually travel by doing all the destination preparation work ourselves, we decided to give Brett & the team he has amassed @ DADAMANGA the responsibility, freeing ourselves of the sometimes tricky/ laborious work of putting an itinerary together~ not sure we were the best customers, we decided to give the team the amount time we had to spend in Madagascar,& 2 of our must sees, Of course they were Lemurs & chameleons ~ that was it ~ from that minimal info they put together an itinerary, we decided to just trust them and had scant idea of where we really were going to go even though the itinerary was very detailed in what to expect ( we decided to not read it & just trust the team so this meant SO SO many GREAT Surprises for us ) ~ a great decision that turned out to be ~ we were met @ the airport in Tana & from that moment on we were treated to an amazing range of experiences that South Madagascar has to offer, we had a 'holiday', the team took over, drove us in comfort to all the destinations, sometimes handing over to experts in certain parks etc who guided us to wonders eg a picnic in a lush oasis in a national park during a wonderful hike , surrounded by & feeding the Lemurs we wanted to see ~ a night in a rainforest to see nocturnal teeny weeny little Chameleons & Lemurs ~ o i had a medical emergency in a town, our multi lingual driver/guide had a Dr into our hotel room in a jiffy to diagnose & medicate me , the friendliness/professionalism/ knowledgeable team were a SENSATION. So hotel choices were superb, drivers WONDERFUL, locations visited super fascinating looking forward to doing the North of this wonderous island & DEFINATELY putting our trust intoBfrett & the DADAMANGA team again. x THANKS for a super trip xWritten September 7, 2024
- meredithleigh70 contributionsFantastic trip and highly recommend DadamangaOur trip to Madagascar was fantastic thanks to Dadamanga. I cannot give a more positive review to Brett and his team. From the pre-trip planning to on the ground execution, Dadamanga went above and beyond. I worked with Urbain to create an itinerary that worked for us- it was 17 days with a nice split of different landscapes and climates. Brett was more than accommodating with sorting out payment and even hopped on a phone call with me to confirm the wire details. Once we arrived in country, everything ran super smoothly, and if there was ever confusion or if we needed confirmations for our drivers/reservations, Brett and his team were quick to reply and sort it all out. We were met at the airport by an English speaking guide who helped us exchange money. We especially appreciated the fact that he watched closely as the teller counted our money and insisted they use the automated money counter to ensure we were given the correct amounts. We had several domestic flights, and Madagascar air frequently shifted flight times— the Dadamanga team was always quick to notify us on flight changes and how our pick up/drop off would be affected. Our first stop on the trip was the west and we flew into Morondava. We were greeted by our guide, Naina— who was absolutely fantastic! We loved staying in the forest at the Akiba Lodge and saw amazing wildlife on our hikes into the reserve. Our long drive up to the Tsingy was well worth the experience and our driver and guide made us feel safe along the way. We stayed at Soleil de Tsingy and it was an oasis- beautiful accommodations and good food. The Tsingy hike was challenging but amazing, and Naina along with the national park guide were so great and offered to take photos of us the entire time. (Naina and the local driver were just so fantastic!). Up next we flew back to Tana and we were met by our next guide, Ravo, to take us out to Andasibe. Ravo was great— he was knowledgeable and accommodating when we wanted to stop for food along the way. We absolutely loved staying at the Manjarano Lodge— it was a stunning hotel with beautiful facilities and good food. We enjoyed the hikes out in the reserve and national park and we were lucky enough to see a wide variety of wildlife. Next Dadamanga arranged for us to fly to Sainte Marie for 5 days of relaxation at the Princesse Bora Lodge. We were booked in a beautiful ocean front villa and loved our stay— the resort has many activities to choose from and so we had a great combination of relaxation and fun. Last up, we flew back to Tana for a couple days in the capital. Our local guide, Jon, was super knowledgeable and we very much enjoyed learning about the culture and history of the country. He also helped us stop at a spot to by some souvenirs and some local vanilla/spices— he was incredibly helpful in ensuring we weren’t taken advantage of and helped us get a fair price for items we purchased. We had a fantastic experience in Madagascar and highly recommend Dadamanga to help organize and coordinate your Madagascar travel experience! Misoatra to the entire Dadamanga team!Written September 2, 2024
- Emily_in_KY0 contributionsGreat ~2.5 week trip around MadagascarMy mother and I did a ~2.5 week trip with Dadamanga in July-August 2024. Our itinerary was basically three pieces (each with different guides and drivers): 1. The RN7 route but no time at the beach. Highlights: Ranomafana and Isalo. We then flew back to Antananarivo and did a one-day city tour. 2. A trip out west. We flew between Antananarivo and Morondava and then visited the Avenue of Baobabs, Kirindy Reserve, and the Tsingy de Bemaraha National Park. 3. After flying back to Antananarivo, we went to Andasibe. Highlights: Mantadia and Analamazaotra. I had proposed the original general areas we were interested in, and Dadamanga did a great job of putting together a comprehensive itinerary. We felt like the trip was really well organized, and they were great about accommodating specific itinerary requests. We especially liked our guide and driver (Lova and Lionel) for the first leg of the trip, and most of the local/park guides were great. We really loved the diversity of scenery and animals we saw on the trip. The main negatives were mostly about the difficulty of traveling in Madagascar. The roads are really bad, so it is slow to get anywhere. A few of the hotels in more remote areas had limited food choices.Written August 17, 2024
- Martin w0 contributionsWonderful 5 days in Madagascar - Lemurs & cultureThis was an excellent bespoke tour arranged by the team and wonderful 5 day introduction to Madagascar. From the moment we arrived we were guided through the airport and helped to get currency and Simm cards, through to our departure where we were waved off! The pre trip organisation and information was comprehensive and fully delivered to expectations. Our driver/guide Mihaja was wonderful with very good English and knowledge of the wildlife, culture, traditions and history of this beautiful country. Hotels were very luxurious and in beautiful settings. Yes we saw lots of lemur! Fascinating creatures with many varieties. We highly recommend ..and don’t be nervous to wire the funds as Brett and team can be trusted to deliver! Ps Be prepared for bumpy roads & brush up on some French as it is the second language. Misaotra Brett and team!Written August 16, 2024
- GrandTour478733814000 contributionsMadagascar tour by couple. The tour was amazing! Drivers were knowledgeable about the roads. We visited national parks. The tour was arranged around what we wanted to see. Travelled from one side of the country by car then internal flight back to the east side. Only problem we had was not enough time there !!Written August 13, 2024
- paulsX864VF0 contributionsFantastical, Unique, Exhilarating, Magical, Challenging and FrustratingDadamanga put together a wonderful, private tour of Madagascar that met our needs, duration and desires. The questionnaires and email exchanges fine tune the travel plans. The responses are timely. The staff of drivers and guides (Roberto, Naina, Enry, Depot, Tojo and Morris) are excellent. On the day of our arrival, Dadamanga adjusted their greeting & pickup of us at the airport from 3 PM in the afternoon to 2 AM at the dead of night due to a Kenya Airways cancellation. I have got a new definition of rough road after the nine-hour ride between Morondava and Tsingy. Dadamanga provided some excellent advice during the planning process: “An economy-sized pack of patience and a family-sized box of sense of humor are very good travel items to bring on any Madagascar visit.” Having enjoyed our adventure in Madagascar, the wisdom of their advice is so true. Enjoy Madagascar!Written August 8, 2024
- missalg0 contributionsMagical adventureI’m grateful to have been a part of the group tour experience. I knew that I needed a tour operator for visiting Madagascar, and wasn’t keen on traveling alone, but also knew that my usual travel partners wouldn’t really appreciate this destination. The tour Dadamanga designed was a great mix, with highlights for me including the Tsiribihina River trip, sunset at the Avenue of the Baobabs, several of the lodgings, Mad Zebu restaurant, and the glorious highland scenery—plus lemurs, of course. There were a few adventurous bits (4wd getting stuck in the sand, another needing to be towed by a passing group of road angels, non-motorized car ferry, primitive camping on the riverbanks) but it was a great time! I had developed plantar fasciitis a few days before the trip and was thus a bit limited in walking properly, but our guide and the local guides were very helpful. I appreciated the descriptions in the itinerary that gave me a good idea about what lay ahead; I would probably include a bit more detail on the loo situation but otherwise it was a well-written overview that was honest about some of the driving days. Truly a great time!Written July 26, 2024
- Ember054010 contributionsFantastic company to work withI worked with Dadamanga to design a tour itinerary but did not end up visiting Madagascar after all. HOWEVER, wow! I have never worked with such an amazing response. These guys were incredible! Our communications were top notch, clear, and professional. The itinerary was impressive, very comfortable, fun, and transparent with details. I am sure that judging by the care they put into their correspondence and planning that their tours and shepherding would have been first class.Written July 25, 2024
- cindypS640JM0 contributionsMadagascar AdventureWe planned our Madagascar tour with Dadamanga. We highly recommend them as they did a great job! The process started with us completing a questionnaire about what we like to do or see while on the island. From there, they proposed three different itineraries. One had more museums and historical stops; another took us to one spot and let us relax in place for many days and the other had us moving around the island to see and do as much as possible. After some massaging, we choose the last itinerary. The trip with all of our stops, private charter flights, guides, car drivers, hotels and guides at the parks were very well coordinated. Everyone was where they were planned to be on time. Their choice of parks and hotels was fantastic. Everyone we worked with from the managing director, to the finance person, to the guides and car drivers and pilots was awesome. They have a great team of people who were professional, knowledgeable and extremely helpful.Written July 22, 2024

- Tory W0 contributionsTrip of a lifetime!Absolutely incredible, top-tier experience with Dadamanga. Madagascar had been my bucket list dream destination for as long as I can remember. I had to cancel my trip in 2020 because of Covid, and this year, I was finally able to go. Dadamanga was instrumental in making my dream come true! Everything was perfect from start to finish. I told them where I wanted to go, how long I had to visit, and what type of accommodation I prefer, and they did the rest. All of the hotels (except one, for which I wrote a separate review) were lovely. The roads in Madagascar are pretty horrific, and we had one terrifying boat trip, but of course Dadamanga isn't to blame for this...you just have to be mentally prepared for the fact that a Madagascar trip won't be the most relaxing trip you've ever taken! Our guided tours were perfect, and we were able to see lots of animals up close. The highlight of the trip (besides the lemurs) was our driver, guide, and friend, Mihaja. The trip would not have been the same without his kindness, knowledge, and the attention he paid to all of our needs. He went out of his way to make the trip special for us. Miasoatra, Dadamanga!Written July 19, 2024
- gsx19900 contributionsGreat group tour with just a few glitchesI was lucky enough to be able to join Dadamanga's first group tour in July 2024. Overall the trip went very well. Our guide, Nambi, was excellent. His English was great and he was very knowledgeable and easy to get along with. It surprised me a bit that he did not directly work at Dadamanga, rather was free lance. Nonetheless, he performed his duties without fail. The itinerary of 13 days covered both the arid west and the wet eastern parts of the country giving us a great representation of the country as a whole. I loved the river cruise, the Ave of the Baobobs and Tsingy National Park. However, please be aware that the road system of Madagascar is very bad, as it's a poor country. The main highways are littered with potholes in many areas and only two lanes wide, with many trucks in some areas. Also, they pass thru every single village and town and your effective speed of travel is diminished to about 15 miles per hour. We took dirt highways in western areas which went even slower. 2 days of this tour were dedicated to grueling 10-12 hour drives. (options to fly are available for a significantly higher price) This was well known ahead of time, just be ready for it. On top of that, the 4WD vehicle we had out west did NOT have functioning AC, and although we generally did not need the AC due to heat, as it was winter on this visit, the dust and exhaust fumes gave serious headaches to those in the back. This vehicle also broke down, and we had to be towed by some very nice local folks passing by for 45 mins. On the plus side, the hotels were generally very good, with the exception of one. Many that claimed to have wifi, did not have functioning wifi, especially the more rural areas, so buying a SIM card may help. I had 3G coverage with my ORANGE SIM most areas, and it was faster than any 3G I've had elsewhere. The camping along the river was really fun, just be aware that there are NO facilities, this is "bush" bathroom camping. The waterfalls that you visit on the river are amazing, and you are likely to have them all by yourself. The food along the boat and at most hotels way exceeded my expectations. Healthy veggies were served with almost every meal, and NONE of my group got sick at any time on the trip. The trip was well organized and carried out. I enjoyed it. The communication before the trip left something to be desired. Promised deadlines came and went without info from Dadamanga. Also be prepared to pay a single supplement if traveling alone. I assumed I would get paired up with a roommate but was not informed otherwise until the last minute and had to cough up the supplement. Having said that I realize that this was their first group tour having to communicate with a number of groups and I assume they learned from it. Overall, I gave the tour 4.5 stars but this rounded up to 5. If they fixed their communication issues before hand and provided better transport options in the arid west, it would have been a strong 5.0 stars. Madagascar tours are not cheap. I think Dadamanga offers a solid value and would use again.Written July 16, 2024
- colleendC9491EK0 contributionsFantastic experienceA spectacular experience! Dadamanga helped us coordinate our travel in Mahajanga, Ankarafantsika National Park, and Antananarivo. Each driver and guide was professional, friendly, and enthusiastic about sharing their country with us. We would highly recommend our Mahajanga driver, Lionel, and our Antananarivo guide, Herijoana, to anyone! And the Dadamanga admin team was great about working with us to figure out a tailored schedule that worked with our travel plans. Thanks so much! Misaotra!Written July 10, 2024
- Storyteller6112470 contributionsBespoke trip to AndasibeMy wife and I travelled with a friend from Tana to Andasibe on a bespoke trip organised by Dadamanga. We were collected from the domestic airport and driven by an English speaking guide to Vakona Forest Lodge, calling in at Peyrieras Exotic to see chameleons and geckos on the way. Next morning, we visited V.O.I.M.M.A Community Reserve and saw Indri Indri. We then went to Lemur Island before lunching at Vakona Forest Lodge and returning to the Nosy Manga Hotel in Tana for a few hours before catching our international flight. Our arrangements went like clockwork, our driver was excellent and we saw all we had hoped to see.Written July 1, 2024

Even though 1 day is seldom sufficient for experiencing East central Andasibe region of this vast and mystic island nation, if you are time strapped like us, speak little to no French or Malagasy for that matter, then this tour should be a no brainer.
In a short window of time (8 hours plus drive time from Tana) Dadamanga is able to pack an agenda with so much variety like
1. Get to see this beautiful rainforest that involves a moderate hike,
2. Sotting and getting a flavor of lemurs and their colonies/communities in wild over there,
3. Experiencing a whole slew of lemurs (landing on your shoulders and taking off from there) in a semi wild Vakona Private reserve island,
and
4. Coming across lemurs in the wild at Peyrieras reserve as well as getting up close and personal with some of the wildest native creatures of Madagascar including some wild Chameleons, snakes, frogs, insect/moth species at Peyrieras -
This all goes fast but is worth the time, money and effort. Be ready, be fit (workout before you arrive) and Dadamanga personally, professionally takes care of the rest right from pickup at hotel in Tana early in the morning, all the fees to reserves, lunch and drop you off at Tana at your hotel in the night.
Did I mention the lunch at Vakona - what a heavenly treat!!
Thanks Dadamanga.

Ha ha what a nice review. So happy that you were happy, we are very grateful. I spoke to my driver the moment after he dropped you off to check that all had gone ok and he assured me that you were happy so, that is all that matters. Yes, it is an action-packed day, glad you managed to deal with it, glad you enjoyed lunch, glad that it all went well, we try hard.
Best wishes and thanks for your time to write a review.

My wife and I went to Madagascar in October 2023 and had Dadamanga arrange our internal flights, drivers and lodging after telling them where we wanted to go. We travelled from the United States and usually like to do things on our own and avoid big group tours. But Madagascar logistics seemed challenging so we chose to go with Dadamanga. They took care of everything and it was all done very professionally. Dadamanga exceeded our expectations and we had no problems with anything. We flew to Fort Dauphin then traveled with driver to Berenty. Then we flew to Diego Suarez and Amber Mountain area. We finished with a few days around Anasibe about 4 hours drive from Antananarivo. All of the lodging was really nice and the best in the area. Every single one of our drivers and guides from Dadamanga were great. All very helpful, genuine and professional. You could tell they liked what they were doing and always seemed to be trying their best and we always had a guide who spoke good English. We saw an incredible amount of wildlife from the lemurs, chameleons and geckos, birds.....too many animals to list. The plants and trees are a botanist's dream. We always felt safe in Dadamanga's hands.
If we went back to Madagascar again we would have Brett and his team arrange everything. I recommend anyone travelling to Madagascar to use Dadamanga. They were great.

Madagascar is a country where it is very helpful, if not essential to have people on the ground coordinating your trip. Brett and his team were great in helping us plan the 10 day tour and making the arrangements. We appreciated the helpful pre tour information and responses to our questions.
Lova, our guide and Zo our driver were excellent. Lova was one of the most knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful guides that we have ever had in many years of traveling. On the way to Fianarantsoa, I asked him if we could take a tour of the Karenjy car factory. Although he was unfamiliar with it and it wasn't on our itinerary, he promptly called and cajoled the receptionist into giving us a private tour of that fascinating multipurpose factory that day. On another day we were passing through a village and he spotted a famadihana procession on its way to the tomb. He had the driver pull over and respectfully asked the family if we could observe. What followed was a fascinating experience that we would have only otherwise experienced as a traffic jam in a village. His ability in identifying flora and fauna was unmatched. Although we had excellent local guides in the national parks, Lova frequently picked out interesting creatures that no one else had seen.
Granted this is a glowing review, but what about the negatives? In general the accommodations were good and comfortable, however there were a few places where I think we could have done better. For the cost, I think that it's reasonable to expect water pressure and hot water, and we did not get that (Relais des Plateaux in Tana, Andasibe Lemurs Lodge). We could have probably done better than the Hotel Thermal in Ranomafana. Isalo Rock Lodge was great in every respect.

Thanks so much for the review, we really appreciate you taking the time to come on line and let us know about your experience with Dadamanga in Madagascar. We are very grateful. I have passed on your comments to the team, and I am sure Lova will be very happy to read that you enjoyed his service. I wish the problems of hot water and water pressure were taken more seriously by the hotels, it really is a problem and I am a bit shocked that you even had problems at Relais des Plateaux, one of the best hotels in the Ivato area!!! I just recently had a few days at an expensive hotel in Anakao that will remain unnamed and they delivered half a bucket of warm water to the room at 0600 and at 0800... that was the extent of hot water to shower with!!! Needless to say, they have now moved down the list considerably.
We have noted your comments and will discuss with the hotels in question, thank you very much for the feedback, without honest feedback from clients we could never stay up to date with how hotels are being run because as much as I would like to, I cannot get around to see them all myself every year (what a lovely thought though)...
Again, thanks, very grateful.

My guide, Mr Gideona, was both an exceptional driver but helpful beyond what was expected. A lovely person.
The drive to the park was in itself an experience and education.
The visit in the parks and reserve was brilliant.

Hello and thanks for the very kind donation of your precious time to come on line and provide a review of your recent visit with us, to Andasibe. Indeed it is our drivers who either make or break our organisation, they are our interface with our clients, and we are so happy that you enjoyed the service. Thanks again and we are happy that you were satisfied.

A big thank you to Brett, Christian and the Dadamanga team for arranging our two day tour from Tana to Andasibe return. Our two day tour was arranged at short notice and the communication via e-mails ensured we knew exactly what we would be getting and the cost. These two days were one of the highlights of our trip to Madagascar as it was our first time seeing lemurs and chameleons in the wild and doing a night walk in a rainforest. We had been planning on seeing only the Mitsinjo Reserve and the Analamazaotra National Park. However, Dadamanaga suggested the Peyreiras Reptile Park and the Lemur Island. We were so pleased we added these stops to our tour agenda as they were highlights of our trip.
We were so grateful that our driver, Stephen, was such a skilled driver and we felt safe on the horrible roads and highways. Even Stephen's knowledge of how to escape the traffic clogged roads of the capital as we began and ended our tour was very impressive.
Do not underestimate the importance of a good driver as the roads in many places in Madagascar are in horrible shape! Even on this major road between the capital to the coast with Madagascar's main port, vehicles have to come almost to a stop to navigate deep potholes that, at times, cover the entire road. As a result time to travel relatively short distances are longer than you might expect but match the estimated times outlined on the Dadamanga tour agenda.
Also, we really appreciated the information package that accompanied our tour agenda. We knew what to expect with our various destinations and approximate times. Especially helpful were the extra sections on getting a SIM card, animal welfare and preparation suggestions.
I would highly recommend Dadamanga Travel Services.

I booked super cheap flights to Madagascar on a whim, but I realized pretty quickly that I didn't have the time or emotional energy to figure out how to plan for a trip on my own. So when I saw Brett answering questions on TripAdvisor, I reached out about planning a trip. Great communication about the itinerary, even as we went back and forth a few times. I was sort of worried about sending a lot of money to Madagascar in advance--like would someone really be at the airport to pick me up??? But my guide - Malala (who I adore) - was there as promised. All of the accommodations were beautiful. I was really excited to have a female guide, as a woman traveling by myself. Beyond that, Malala was super friendly and lovely, and even went to get me supplies when I was sick. She was super knowledgeable. Our driver Angelo was great too.
I wanted to see wildlife (lemurs and whales really) so I saw lemurs around Andasibe, and then went to Sainte Marie, where I saw no whales (this was no one's fault). The only recommendation I have is that if you're going to Sainte Marie, don't take the ferry! You should 100000% fly. And take dramamine if you're going to go look for whales. :-)

We booked this 2 days before arriving in Madagascar since the quarantine was lifted and we had two extra days. We put a call out on Tripadvisor for things to do from Tana and they suggested this trip (so did many others) so we booked it. Due to the timing, there was no way to pay the deposit so it was all done on the honor system which was appreciated. Excellent service from pickup to drop off. They even talked to our hotel security guard to see if he would escort us to a dinner location and back. They provided great information, were understanding of our jet lag and need for a short nap between tours and even helped us order a variety of items at lunch so we could try all the local cuisine. I would highly recommend this trip and this company!
