Fantastic trip!
Feb 2020
While planning our trip to Madagascar, we had contacted a number of tour companies to get price quotes. We ultimately chose Lanto's company because of his quick email responses, clear and organized itinerary, and strong Trip Advisor reviews.

Lanto, the owner of the company, was our tour guide for this trip. We also traveled with Jonathan, our very kind driver. Jonathan was a *very* safe driver, and we really appreciated his work throughout the trip. We did a 10 day trip with the company -- we drove from Tana to Tulear, with 3 days at the beach in Anakao.

For each day, Lanto had sent us a number of activities we could do, based on our preferences. He was quite organized in terms of preparing our schedule, but built in a lot of flexibility so we could do the things we were most interested in. For each activity, the park guides and artisans were *always* waiting for us as soon as we arrived. As soon as we finished an activity, Lanto and Jonathan were always ready and waiting for us as well. This kind of organization and consistency really sets this tour company apart from others in Madagascar. We didn't waste any time during the trip waiting for other people or waiting to start activities.

Lanto knows a ton about the country and its history, and is always happy to answer any questions you have throughout the trip. Overall, we really enjoyed our experience and would recommend it to others.

Fantastic trip through Madagascar
Aug 2019
The trip of 20 days was organized by Lanto for our family of four. He adjusted the trip to our request.
The the organization worked out very well between Lanto, Faly and several drivers. Faly was our very helpful guide.
The tour was mildly adjusted at our request on the 3rd day due to sickness. I was very grateful for that flexibility. Fortunately we only needed one day adjustment.
We did the descend of the Tsiribinga river on a boat with one night camping. That was a fabulous trip. The boat had 5 guys as crew to sail and cook. The catering was fantastic. The night sky was fabulous with no light pollution, ideal for sky photography.

The visit to Tsingy of Bemaraha was also a highlight of the trip.
Then, we drove down to Kirindy on the west coast, stopping at a lodge in a research center. We spotted lots of wild life, from fossas, lemurs, chameleons, etc. We got the best sky here (pics).

Then we went down to lively Morondava: There were beautiful beaches all over.
We visited Ranomafana, Isalo and headed to Toliara from where we took a boat to Anakao to enjoy a quiet beach. This was a fabulous resort.

We concluded our trip with three days at Antananarivo. It was worth staying in the capital as well.
All in all, it was a very nice trip with lots of driving needed to see the country. Roads are in general not in best state and driving is "art" and often very slow.
The logistics of "Madagascar Tropic Voyage" was a very well-oiled machine. The tour operator could almost always solve unforeseen issues. The hotels and cars (4x4 Toyota landcruiser for another car for the city) used had always very good standards (safe).

We are very thankful to Lanto, Faly, the drivers and extra guides for making of our holidays such a nice experience!

Seamless, Professional, Enjoyable and Memorable!
Jul 2019
We had initially contacted a couple of different companies for our Madagascan adventure and the responsiveness from Lanto, alongside great reviews, tipped the balance in the favour of MTV. Lanto put together a very busy and challenging itinerary for us to make sure we could see everything that we wanted.

Our itinerary took us from Tana out to Andasibe to see Lemur Island and the national park (I would thoroughly recommend this leg of the trip - even though we weren't so keen on some of the reptile "zoos", they were really just to break up the journey). We made the pilgrimage over to the Tsingy which is a must do (opt for the great Tsingy...it's...more great!). We then made our way back to Antsirabe and then South making stops at Isalo (incredible day of hiking and swimming), Ranamofana (beautiful and unique), handicrafts and finally finishing in Ifaty for a relaxing time at the beach.

Our guide was Faly, who is a young guy, clearly well educated, with impeccable English who was able to answer every question we threw at him (which were a lot!). He explained so much about culture, traditions, landscapes, nature, lifestyle, politics and much more. Most importantly he was our safety net, he helped us with language issues, when we weren't sure what to do about tipping, where to eat to make sure our stomachs were ok and was an all round valuable resource. His assistance enhanced our experience rather than sheltered us from anything. He was very easy to get on with and we had a good laugh as well!

When you travel around Madagascar, you will spend a lot of time in the back of a 4x4 because of the nature of the island. Our driver, Fenu, was brilliant, (we have had some horrific journeys in places like India and believe me when I say it is not always the case that you feel safe) we felt so comfortable that we were happy falling asleep or just relaxing. Every day when we arrived at our destination, he then set about cleaning the vehicle so that it remained a nice place to be for the duration of the trip - top marks!

The actual organisation of everything was seamless and Faly was always available to deal with any issues, but the great thing was, he pre-empted all of them, so it was sorted before we even realised there was an issue. It was only when we had 3 days on our own at the end that we realised just how slick it was when we started trying to arrange our own activities. We completely took for granted that everything went as planned without any hiccups.

The accommodation that we stayed in was brilliant throughout - when travelling to Madagascar, you expect that you will be without creature comforts and whilst we weren't staying in 5 star luxury, every hotel was good, clean and most of them were beautiful, either with brilliant views or with picturesque huts that we stayed in. Don't worry about being put in the cheapest possible accommodation - you really will feel like your wellbeing is their number 1 priority.

We normally organise our own trips, but this didn't seem particularly feasible in Madagascar so we went with a tour operator for the first time ever. We are so glad that we put our trust in MTV because we ended up with the best experience, and the trip of a lifetime!

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them, keep doing what you're doing MTV and I'm sure your success will continue!

Excellent trip with great guide
Jul 2019 • Family
Our 19-day trip in Madagascar included the southern circuit and Nosy Be. It was a wonderful trip. We were so impressed with the stunning and beautiful landscapes in Madagascar and all the unique animals and plants endemic to this country. The booking with Lento and his team was smooth and easy. He responded to our requests promptly and effective. The price of the tour was very competitive and the quality of the service was great. All the hotels Lento picked for us were all well located, very nice and comfortable. Food and drinks were not included in the tour price, but things are very cheap in Madagascar when using US or European standards. And we loved the local Malagasy food! They are really good!

Especially mentioned here is our driver guide, Romena. He was our driver and also our general guide. He speaks very well English and has a great understanding of the conditions in the country. He took good care of us and showed us the real Madagascar. Thanks to Romena for all the great local experiences that we will cherish forever! We had a great time with him and highly recommend him.

Some tips we want to share:

1. Bring enough cash with you. Madagascar is a cash country and not many places accepted credit cards. Big bills (100s and 50s) usually receive better exchange rates than smaller bills (20s, 10s, and 5s). Exchange rates are usually better in the exchange places on the street than in the hotels.

2. Things are cheap in Madagascar, but Nosy Be is generally more expensive than those in the rest of the country.

3. Same as other Africa countries (we had been to Africa two other times), road conditions are generally rough in Madagascar. You should see that as part of your adventure. You can ask ahead of time how much time it would take from one place to the other so that you are prepared.

4. If you are planning to take domestic flights, you need to keep in mind that Air Madagascar is not very reliable and can change schedules or cancel flights anytime.

5. There is some interesting rules of what you can NOT bring into your carry on luggage. For example, the wooden boabab trees figures, which you have to put in your checked bags.

6. Air Madagascar is very strict on the weight and number of carry ons. 5kg each person. They will weight your backpacks. So, find out what the rules are beforehand.

Absolutely brilliant, an incredible holiday.

Lanto at Madagascar Tropic Voyage, was one of three local tour operators that I contacted online earlier this year. He stood out immediately with his quick and reliable responses, accommodating approach and genuine friendliness. We discussed a number of options based on my wishes and he was very constructive in suggesting the best and most practical way to conduct our trip. We were two families travelling together with teens, and we had 16 days to see and do what we wanted. We discussed options and finally settled on a plan starting in Antananarivo, taking in numerous parks to the East and to the North before ending up with a week of scuba diving and beach life in Nosy Be
Lanto organised everything, including the itinerary, hotels, domestic flights, vehicles, drivers and guides, including himself. Our tour went via many locations, including Andasibe, Antsohihy, Ankarana, Joffreville, Amber Mountain Park, Red Singy and Diego Suarez and finally Nosy Be. It was both amazing and spectacular. Lanto provided us with spacious and very comfortable Toyota land-cruisers, and our drivers were outstanding, handling rough roads and looking after us with big smiles and friendly humor. A number of the hotels were absolutely breathtaking
Lanto alternated as a guide with his brother Angelo, and both of them were absolutely superbl, knowledgeable and charming. I found Lanto to be not only extremely trustworthy, but also meticulous and caring in the manner in which he planned and organised our trip. His brother Angelo was constantly there, with a big smile and no matter what we asked for, he was always able to organise it at short notice. Madagascar is an amazing country to visit, with a huge variety of nature, wildlife, people and cultures to experience. We loved every minute.
I cannot thank Lanto and Madagascar Tropic Voyage enough for making our holiday such a memorable event.
Lanto and Madagascar Tropic Voyage are very highly recommended indeed.

My friends and I, in total a group of 4 young persons from germany, just came back from an extra ordinary holiday adventure with memories for life. It couldn’t had been better. From planning to conducting all was excellent. I really, really recommend this local tour provider. The contact with Lanto, the general Manager of Madagascar Tropic Voyage (MTV), in advance via email was great. He always replied prompt to all our questions and realized all our suggestions. MTV is reliable and has an extremely good price-performance ratio. All choosen restaurants we stopped at while driving and all accommodations were good.

Last but not least I want to say thank you to our new friends Faly and Serge. For almost 3 weeks while travelling through madagascar Faly was our guide and Serge our driver. Serge drove us securely through the rough traffic of Tana and through the countryside despite of the sometimes hard road conditions. Faly is a friendly and obliging young guy, who really loved to play UNO or JENGA with us in the afternoon. So when you are with him, you may bring your games and challenge him. We had sooo much fun with these two good-hearted souls. We were so sad leaving this two new friends and their beautiful homecountry, there was not a dry eye. Hope to see you again sometime! These two grew close to our hearts - Madagascar did so. If we come back to madagascar sometime, we will choose MTV again, for sure! Thanks to all the kind humans we met throughout this remarkable tour, especially to Faly, Serge, Irmand, Manou, Nestor, Romeo, Leonce, Augustin and to all the cute kids who smiled at us and laughed with us. Misaotra betsaka! Best regards, Dominic, Rabea, Chrissi and Lisa
