Chance Encounter gone well!
Aug 2019
Ran into Addis on the street and started talking. He offered to show me around for the afternoon I was in the city and had a lovely time. He was very familiar with the area and knew lots of museum, food, and coffee locations. Contact information is +251 937423985. Enjoy!

Good Food Tours
Jul 2019
We did a food tour with him Eats our first full day in Addis and two weeks later, we were back in the city, searching for food as good as what he had helped us find. We ate at 4 restaurants, and could have gone to a 5th -- the best doro wat of the whole trip, great fried fish and excellent fasting meal. he informed not just about the city and its food, but also about the rest of the country. Very flexible, family-friendly (we had a baby and a toddler). Highly recommended addis. he is an excellent

MERCATO
Jul 2019
we was wondering why Merkato is called "the largest open air market in Africa". Locals Say It is because no exact end and start. despite it is easily acces from Piassa direction ppl can go to merkato from any part of the city like from Mexico Sqr, Kofle, Gulele, etc. we walked with my guide addis. for 6 hours inside but not yet finished. There fore it is the short review, : coming from East, piassa area, Merkato Starts at "ATIKILT TERA"=Vegetable area.,the the road forks in to three, the right continues to "AUTOBUS TERA"=main bus Station, the left goes to "many teras" which we still have to go Up to Mexico sqr.
But the central way is the right merkato way Saluting at the junction St. Ragueal church and Anwar mosque in left side. Ragueal area /mesgid is called ELECTRONOCS area. good place to buy Camera,TV if you want...also old vinyl records of music. Just Right of St. Ragueal is the place where "cheap souvenirs area", next you get DUBAI TERA= simply a place for textiles, fabrics etc, the see mattress Tera,BOMB tera, Chid Tera, Sidamo Tera,Etan tera Then wander to TANA SUPER MARKET it is the first modern mall in Merkato, still safe and quite expensive but quality goods, OMG, you can even wander here for couples of hours
but don't finish your Merkato visit before "MINALESH TERA ?"=What do you have area?, it is the exact place you will get EVERY THING YOU WANT........to get contact addi. He is extremely recommended guide he will walk and shoe you all what’s in mercato the central way attach on you left side at the Commercial bank of Ethiopia and between Mierab /west hotel, if you saw many women selling incenses on a row, coffee bottles/Jebena, seat, it is our way to the next BALTENA/Spices Tera, addis, well get you down,to "SHEMA TERA"=Cotton area, then down to Minalesh Tera seeing the Qocho tera/ ppl prepare false banana root to be a cereal for bread, ahahaha it seems they are making CHEESE!! Addis. how many times I told you it is not cheese it is called QOCHO better known as ENSET] LOL. My guide was fantastic favorite food in the southern part Ethiopian Guraghe ethnicity.watch the Ethiopian Cardamom, spices, then head to "KORCHA TERA=Saddle area, ppl make leather seats, belt, etc....If you see the piles of Cannes, it is called QOSHIE TERA= scraps area.
Still you are on the left side from Shema tera to Qoshie tera heading down from the commercial bank of Ethiopian inside Merkato, The right Choice of mercato was taking addis, to show me all this places takes you to SHEKLA TERA=clay area,Then we head to Selvage clothes areas, Chat tera= the green leaf chat /Khat sold and masticated around , The exact location is Cinema Ras area to see bundles of chat carried by lorry before distribution at 6PM in the morning,
Opposite to the Commercial bank is the station of Yellow -in- red color city buses, you will get big halls commonly called as ADARASH on both sides of the bus station, In the " ADARASH addis. Also will get you to souvenirs and modern suits, bags, luggage, curtains, female materials...etc,
The building if you stare west of the halls is the dire tower, it may be the central MERKATO, on the way it is called the bars/ bar girls/ concentrated at SEBATEGNA SEFER=7th area just named after the 7th Police station is founded. If you further walk MERKATO is left behind at Raguel and the other names comes like Amanueal church, EHIL BERENDA=cereal Verendah:the 'common stock' market of the country controlling the cereal market, if you turn left to Amanuel Ehil Berenda leaving the main route that goes to Lideta, turn again left to head to MERKATO via Autobus tera leaving Mesalemiya and Kolfe to the right
What a great concept this is - we learnt about the local food and experienced a wide variety of local eateries. Perhaps even more impressive than the actual "food tour" were the hosts; within a minute or two of sitting down with Addis and cold Dashen beer in hand - it felt like we were catching up with old friends, rather than being escorted around Addis on a tour! he a great guide - now good friends - both extremely knowledgeable and respectful about the food and culture of Ethiopia, and we could not have imagined a better introduction to the city in our brief stay there. Thanks to addis. again! strongly recommended addis.cotact dietals mobaile number+251937423986] email tourininaddis@gmail.com
