- 450zdenkak0 contributionsAmazing Experience with Luel and Mesgan! We had an unforgettable day on the Full Day Tour of Addis Ababa with Hotel Pickup and Drop-off, guided by Luel, an excellent and very knowledgeable guide who knew everything about Ethiopia’s rich history. Our driver, Mesgan, was patient and skillfully navigated us through the bustling streets of Addis. The day started perfectly as they picked us up on time, provided us with water, and set off for an exciting adventure. After visiting the museum, we drove up to a stunning viewpoint of Addis, offering us breathtaking views of the city. The tour was wonderfully diverse, and we especially loved our stop at one of the oldest cafés in Addis for a taste of authentic Ethiopian coffee—it was delicious! The highlight for us, though, was the visit to the largest open-air market in Africa. Luel knew exactly where to take us for the items we were looking for, which was incredibly helpful. When I unexpectedly ran out of money (which can easily happen at such an amazing market!), Luel kindly covered for me, and I paid him back once we got back to the hotel. I highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Addis Ababa who has 6-7 hours to explore. It’s a fantastic experience, and you’ll be in great hands with Luel and Mesgan!Written October 12, 2024
- Ambassador6031890 contributionsAccomodating and proffesional - ideal experience of the cityVery smooth and friendly. We booked the tour one day before - quite last minute - and received the confirmation in couple of hours. The pick up was on time and our guide Luel and our driver Mesgan were amazing. Luel is very knowledgeable and was able to answer all of my questions. The itinerary was ideal for a day tour - mix of history, nature and religious sights. We could choose the lunch spot - Ethiopian or Western - we opted for the western and had a high-end lunch in a beautiful restaurant (even the western restaurant has some locally inspired meals so dont worry about missing out too much + they accept credit cards). The highlight was the Merkato. We mentioned what we want to buy specifically and they guided us through the market to find what we needed (coffee, spices, souvenirs). The recycling part of the market was really unique. Definitely go in with closed shoes especially when its raining because it is quite dirty and dangerous on the ground. Bring enough cash! :) There is a small recommended tip of 200 Birr for the church guide, we tipped also the local Merkato guide who joined us as he knows every corner of it and was helping us navigate it smoothly and pushing away the dangerous cargo coming our way :) We spent a long time in the market but Luel was very accommodating and did not rush us at all. The St. George church was very interesting and the trip to the hill and the old city of Toto was breathtaking. The National Museum is interesting but quite small - the archeological findings definetly deserve a much more honorable display, hopefully the governement will take care of it soon. All in all we enjoyed the tour, we had a free day on our business travel here and it was an ideal taste of the bustling city. 100% recommend!Written October 12, 2024
- Dodowings0 contributionsA perfect introduction to Addis Ababa. Thank you Luel!Luel was a fantastic guide and an incredibly skilled driver, navigating the sometimes chaotic streets of Addis. He was engaging, thoughtful, and kind, showing not only the best of Ethiopian history but also hospitality and warmth. We saw a huge amount of the city, with the highlights for me being the pure madness of Mercato and the unexpected delight of a first hand account of the court of Emperor Haile Selassie from a fascinating gentleman working at Entoto.Written October 11, 2024

- midwestamy0 contributionsExcellent tour for solo female travelersLuel was fantastic! He’s very knowledgeable and a super good driver. It’s the off season so I got a private tour, which made it better for learning more about the history and culture. Luel answered all of my questions and we had a great chat. I would recommend this tour for solo travelers because you get to see a lot of the city in one go. There was no forced shopping or anything like that but Luel did take me to a shop when I asked. Very chill. And he was a fantastic driver!Written October 9, 2024

- mrsmalibu0 contributionsFabulous day trip to see Addis Ababa! This was a wonderful company that took us all around the amazing city of Addis Ababa! Our driver Nebiyu, was a very safe and good driver in a van with air conditioning and seatbelts and very clean. We felt very safe with him the whole time and he would pull up right when we needed to come into the car and drop us off right where we needed. We thoroughly enjoyed, all the different sites the museum the churches our amazing guide Desale, was amazing! Please ask for him. He took us into the church and showed us the drums and the different areas and explained it all the museum. He gave us a wonderful history lesson his English was very good and he was so kind and information full. We ask for a wonderful Ethiopian spot that only Ethiopians go to no tourist and it was delicious! We especially liked the market place and the recycling place! Seriously I’ve been all over the world. I’ve never seen anything like it and he help me buy the spices I needed for some special Ethiopian dishes. I highly recommend this company.Written September 20, 2024

- Ivoquis0 contributionsPerfect day tour in AddisI was on a long layover in Addis, first time in Ethiopia. Was lucky to have Luel driving me around the city, through Mercatto, visiting Lucy at the National Museum, St. George Church and more! We also stopped for a coffee and to an antique store to buy some Ethiojazz Vynil. I am looking forward to my next visit to Ethiopia. I can't recommend Luel enough, it was just perfect!Written September 17, 2024

- Compass679715723860 contributionsSuperb experienceMy friends and I had an amazing time on their Addis Ababa City Tours. The group size was small, and we immediately connected and made memories. Everyone in the group was extremely friendly, helpful, and supportive. The locals were so kind as to share their authentic experiences and cultures with us, and the guides were knowledgeable. They shared many stories about the history and how local people live. It was fascinating to know everything. The scene of the beauty of Holy Trinity Church was stunning. One of the best experiences was exploring the open-air market, the biggest in East Africa. We got our hands on the locally grown coffee, which was delicious.Written September 2, 2024

- FeBGodoy0 contributionsGreat 1 day trip with Luel!We left in the morning with Luel for an incredible day of sightseeing around Addis Ababa. It was possible to see the workers in the fields and the small villages on the side of the road. After 2 hours of travel, we arrived at the Debre Libanos Monastery. The place and its history are fascinating, especially the monk who guided us through the museum and the Church. We love it! The second part of the tour was to visit the Jemma river valley, with the Portuguese bridge and the bleeding heart baboons. The landscape is absolutely beautiful! The monkeys don't get very close (thankfully) but we were able to see the red color of their chest and several of their babies. Furthermore, lunch was delicious and we even stopped on the way to try the "Ethiopian tequila", approved by those who like alcoholic drinks. Anyway, Luel provided us with a very pleasant day, with lots of information about Ethiopia and its culture. We hope to return to do more tours with Luel :)Written August 26, 2024
- 676hannesl0 contributionsOne-day tour of Addis AbabaWe did a one-day tour of Addis Ababa with Desale, who took the time to show around this vibrant city and introduce us to a historically and culturally fascinating country. We got to see the National Museum of Ethiopia and the famous fossil of Lucy, we ate tasty Injera for lunch, had a fantastic view of the city from the country-side towards Entoto and got a good impression from Desale of what life in Addis Ababa and Ethiopia in general is like.Written August 25, 2024

Everything worked out so well. The driver was waiting for me, had texted me and it worked out so well.
We went out of town, saw lots of sights and I really enjoyed my day. Saw some museums downtown, and enjoyed local food. Why waste your time in an airport. I had a 14 hour layover, so glad I left the airport and learned about my host country.

I was only in Addis Ababa for a couple of days for work and booked a half day tour ( all paid) as I had limited time . I wasted 2 hours waiting for them. They did not answer the phone . The hotel eventually got on to them and they then said they would send a driver by then it was 11 am and I had to be back at 12 30 so it was not worth going . I was so did appointed . So be careful booking with them as they may let you down. They knew where I was and did not even try and contact me . I could have organised something else

The tour guide Adios was intelligent and knew a lot of history about Ethiopia. The museum was very interesting to know deep history about Africa in which I learned new things. The shopping market was nice and the guide helped us buy items we were looking for. The mountain view was amazing. Towards the end of tour the guide asked us what things the tour could do better with and we suggested trying Ethiopian food. Which he took us to a restaurant and helped us buy some food. The tour and guide was very nice.

I am widely-travelled and quite demanding when it comes to guided tours, and I can say that Addis (my tour guide) was one of the best tour guides I have ever had. Not only was he very knowledgeable about everything that was part of the tour, but he was a fantastic source of information and an excellent, sharp-witted conversation partner on any other topic that came up during the half-day tour. Sharp, pleasant, erudite, and good sense of humor. The visit of the National Museum was truly excellent. Our tour happened to be on Good Friday, so the St. George's Cathedral was closed for visits as it was (like all the other churches) celebrating mass and was surrounded by the praying faithful, but Addis still managed to organize a church official to take me through the adjacent cathedral museum. Overall, this was an outstanding experience, and I can warmly recommend Addis and, by extension, the entire company.

Gashaw was a fantastic knowledgeable and adaptable guide for my half day tour of Addis! I booked the half day tour of Addis after walking around Bole myself and wanting to see more than some nice restaurants and hotels. Gashaw’s tour throughout the city exceeded my expectations as I learned all about Ethiopia’s history, diverse culture, and geography. He was an expert driver as well, navigating through very very busy Markato streets. Highly recommend!
