About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- 449scottm0 contributionsBUYER BEWARE - DO NOT TRUST THIS TOUR COMPANYDO NOT BOOK THIS! My wife and I were picked up in Victoria Falls and driven North ro an unknown location in Zimbabwe on the river. The driver acted like.he did not know what was going on I checked my map on the cell and saw we were driving away from the Zambia boarder - very concerning and scary for my wife- we were handed off to a tour with no explanation- when asked what was going on I was assured all was fine- the tour company passed us off to some other tour without our permission nor knowledge- we were STUCK and trapped. I had paid the $20/pp US for transport and acquired the proper muti entry Visa for Zimbabwe to Zambia for $100 US - NEVER USED IT. When we got into the boat for the tour I questioned the guide and through several questions they finally told me that we were not going to Devils Pool on the Zambia side but to Devils Cataract on the Zimbabwe side- I was very MAD I was deceived and ripped off. Traveled all this way - booked well in advance to have the tour company just deceive me and scare my wife! BUYER BEWARE! Now I'm out $100 Visa expenses and the $40 transfer fee not to mention my wife and I will probably never get to experience Devils Pool - this really SUCKS!Written September 10, 2024
- andreaaT4924VU0 contributionsVictoria Falls Devils PoolThis is such a unique experience that can't be replicated anywhere else. The group were great at communicating expectations with us about pickup and shuttle across the better from Zimbabwe to Zambia. We felt completely safe the entire time and the water was refreshing, but not freezing, at such an early hour. Definitely a memory for life.Written September 10, 2024
- WCAnth0 contributionsBucket listStunning experience, guides were so professional and made us feel very safe and comfortable. The experience is something you can't really explain and definitely a bucket list for anyone. You also get to see the falls from a different perspective ❤️Written September 8, 2024
- rachaisson0 contributionsVictoria FallsAn amazing and thrilling experience. Never thought I would be so close to the falls, much less right in them. The guides made me feel completely comfortable to engage in this activity.Written September 3, 2024
- JulesP710 contributionsJust do it!Scary, brilliant, exhilarating - but safe! - experience. We walked back and forth (with our guide) and didn't have a meal, making it much more affordable, and the walk was very interesting. Just do it!Written September 1, 2024
- kerryo5830 contributionsDevils pool experienceThe most professional crew !! I was very nervous and I wasn’t sure if I would make the plunge . It would have to be the most frightening, scary thing I would ever do ! And after the experience, I have to congratulate all members / guides and especially Alex who was our main guide for their professionalism ! I felt safe ; mind you it’s a once only in a lifetime. I’m thrilled to have done this activity . If you are interested in doing this - I recommend it 100 percent for the exhilarating experience. Thanks again Alex !!Written August 21, 2024
- philipjamesw0 contributionsA Wonderfully Unique Dining Experience. This was truly a step back in time. Growing up in the north of England part of the excitement of spending summer holidays at a seaside town was the journey on a steam train. The Victoria Falls Railway experience was of course far ritzier and such a unique dining experience. Catered by the Victoria Falls Hotel, the food was delicious and superbly presented. I cannot recommend it enough.Written August 5, 2024
- 520jordanc0 contributionsDon’t miss doing this !Tamuka travel organised the tour for us, but it is run by Tongebezi Lodge. No tour company run the actual experience, merely the transport and booking you in on the day and time requested at booking. Our taxi was 15 minutes late as another couple were not ready for pick up. Also it was an extra $32 for our return transport to the Zambia border where you are taken by another taxi driver to the venue. At the venue, it is a very slick operation and the guides are really excellent, do tip them!!! We went on the first boat at 07.30. We had water shoes, definitely required as rocks both sharp and very slippery. You can hire them there, but towels are provided, no need to bring one as stated. Waivers to be signed etc but soon your group is assigned a leader who travels with you on the speedboat to Livingston Island, chilly ride at that time of the morning. Easier if you are already changed into swimwear, though basic loo on the island, ones to use are at the Zambia venue before you set off, really clean. Boat journey about ten minutes. You meet the chef and choose your meal option, then take off any clothes apart from swimwear and shoes. Everything put into a box, we had passports and cash and all was there on our return. Towels are taken with you to nearer the falls. Phones are given to the groups leader who keeps them in waterproof bag. You then swim, wade and clamber to Devils pool. Guides hugely helpful, we had a non swimmer in our small group of 4. We all felt very safe and they have a very well organised route. Just do as the guides ask! We had a full rainbow over the falls on our visit. It really is an amazing experience. Your leader takes several photos and video footage of your time in the pool. You do not get to take your own photos until outside the pool. Some people complained the photos were not very good, but we were pleased with ours and thought the venue could quite easily put in a professional photographer and make people buy these and ban mobile phones altogether! You don’t have a huge amount of time in the pool as obviously there is queue of chilly groups perched on rocks waiting their turn, but we did not feel rushed, felt it enough time. It really is an incredible experience…. Don’t miss it!!!! After retracing steps back to island, we were reunited with our towels and more photos by the falls, then a quick change before lovely breakfast with hot drinks and returned to the boat for return journey. Our Tamuka travel taxi was waiting for us right outside the venue for our journey back to Vic FallsWritten August 3, 2024
- Bryan L0 contributionsThrill seekers, don’t miss this, no matter what!I was skeptical that this would be nothing more than a selfie generator for social media obsessed teens. It turned out to be a highlight of our trip. I went with my 18 and 15 year old daughters. From Livingstone Island, you swim across the top of the waterfall (!) over to the Devils Pool and then they help you safely creep up toward the edge while holding your ankles. It sounds insanely dangerous but is completely safe at all times. They take photos with your phone. It’s amazing. Definitely buy the water shoes as the rocks are sharp!Written July 27, 2024
- jeannecC3109RN0 contributionsHappy Anniversary Party! The dinner train across Victoria Falls was spectacular. Beautiful views, friendly and accommodating staff. Tulani was an awesome host and made our family (3 generations there to celebrate a big anniversary) feel especially welcome and celebrated. All 3 generations had fun experiencing a steam train. The live music was so fun and somehow knew to include a special song for my parents. Food was great.Written July 20, 2024
- elizabethh9140 contributionsDevil’s Pool experienceWhat an experience!! Frightening & exillarating at the same time! I cannot say enough about the guides. They were great & knew I was afraid so stuck by me the whole time. The boat ride out, the preparation for the experience & the breakfast afterward were great as well.Written July 18, 2024
- WilliamWillieWilson0 contributionsYou'll see Zimbabwe and Zambia (no special visa required)This is the most charming time to end a day in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe. The dinner is spectacular, the entertainment is lovely, and you'll pass into Zambia (no special visa required) before returning to the Victoria Falls Bridge where the vintage steam train parks for a while. You can shovel coal and blow the whistle in the detached engine at this point.Written July 16, 2024
- DarthEsculapio0 contributionsGreat tourAwesome tour, staff at the location was very friendly, very well organized and facilities very well kept, staff very professional and really make an effort to leave a good impression, a note for the tour operators though the drop off should be always starting from the people closer to te activity, we were the last ones to be picked up since we were closer to the activity and dropped off last even when we told the driver we had an activity to get to.Written July 5, 2024
- Hwajeong0 contributionsGo to Livingston IslandThe folks were lovely, and have a system in place to help everybody get a chance to see the views and get their photos at Livingston Island and Devil/Angel's Pool. The downside was some delays in communication.Written June 30, 2024
- stacyp780 contributionsNot so good (based on the tour organizer, not the tour/package itself)The trip overall was decent (6 out of 10). We did have issues when we arrived being placed in a lesser hotel. Per our initial booking we should have been placed at the Shearwater Explorers Village hotel/property, but instead we were forced to stay at the N1 hotel down the road. This was very disappointing and a much different experience than expected. As well, included in our package was lunch at Lookout Cafe after our tour of Victoria Falls. Upon arrival, the driver mentioned that the only charge would be alcohol. After we ate, the staff at the restaurant gave us a bill for the 3 of us. We inquired about the meal being included and no one we spoke to at the restaurant was aware of the meal being included in our package. When the driver arrived, he said he had to speak to someone at the restaurant but did not rectify our issue with payment. Given all of the actions and looking back at the situation, it seems that the coordinator of the tour and hotel may have had some secret “wink-wink agreement” that they would still charge those who had the 3-day package and get some sort of kick back. Lastly, the safari tour seemed to be much lesser quality than promised. In addition, the truck that my family and I was placed in was very old and one of the doors did not properly open. Moreover, the head guide had another gentleman with him who we are assuming may have been training to be a safari guide, but we were never told why the other “guide” would be in the vehicle. The training guide had poor judgment and a few times got too close to the elephants on the tour and we were almost charged by one teenage male elephant. To make matters worse, the trainee was not comfortable driving a manual transmission and stalled out so many times that we eventually got stuck in a sandy area off of the trail and the experienced guide had to drive the truck for the rest of the safari. Based on several issues listed above, we definitely would NOT recommend using the same person (Brighton- Tamuka Travel) that was responsible for this particular 3-day tour. As well, we are requesting refunds for the difference in price for the 2 nights staying at N1 hotel versus the Shearwater Explorers hotel AND the cost of our lunch at Lookout Cafe.Written May 21, 2024

This trip supposed to be from 6 to 8 am. The gate door opened at 06.30 am . The Tour company sent me a mail to informed me.
Half an hour later, at 7 am , and after seeing 3 points, the guide decided to go. 53 $ plus 30 $ for the ticket entrance.
You can do it by your self. There is plenty information inside the park and you just have to follow the numbers to see the best spots . I decided to stay and I really enjoy doing it by my self making incredible shots.
Don't waste your money...

I was looking around for unique things to do at Victoria Falls when I came across this unique option by Tamuka Travel. We were met at our hotel by their knowledgeable guide Simon. Arriving at the falls we were actually the first people through the gate! We got to witness the first rays hitting the falls and the wonderful peacefulness of the early morning. Simon deftly guided us around the site to the best lookout points and gave us insight on the history, nature and other interesting information about the falls. We only saw a few people near the end... so we virtually had the falls all to ourselves the whole time. A magical experience we'll never forget! A big thank you to Simon and the whole Tamuka team!

I waited for 45 minutes only to not be picked up. I heard from the hotel manager that some one came by at 7am asking for me but didn't bother to contact my room.

Hi PerryPClarke.
Thank you for your feedback as this will help us to correct and avoid this in our future bookings.
Our sincere apology for what happened on your booking as our driver-guide came and picked the wrong clients after he met people going for the guided tour of the falls and he never asked for the voucher. This was only realized and discovered later and we had to send our representative to come and see you so that we might do the tour the following day. It is not within our working culture that we miss or mix bookings like that, so we once again apologize for what happened to your booking as we always thrive to make your holiday worth to remember.
So for the reason that we never provided you with your expected service we have given you back in the form of refund the total amount 100% you paid for the tour even though we know that is not the best for you than to participate in the tour.
Kind Regards
Tamuka Travel

Victoria Falls at sunrise is exceptional and an added bonus was to have Simon guiding us. He made sure we had an experience we would not forgot and got us to the right spot for the perfect sunrise photographs. He also took some great photos of our group.

Out experience at the falls was amazing - genuinely a memory to cherish forever. Simon (our guide) has a wide knowledge of politics, economy and history and kept us informed and curious for more. He also gave our family enogh space to enjoy this experience with one another- excellent, appropriate balance. I can only recommend them!!!
