About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- alysasm0 contributionsWalk with LionsThis company is the worst! After booking I reached out for confirmation and never received information needed for the day of. The morning of my tour, I had to call them to remind them they had a guest booked for the day. After scrambling to pick me up, I was 1 1/2 hours late and missed a good portion of what was promised. Their site promises 3 hours, I received 20 minutes. No breakfast as promised and a completely rushed experience. The site states it’s on the Zambia side, which is where I stayed. Found out that it’s on the Zimbabwe side that morning and was asked for additional fees never stated on the site. I’ve asked for only a partial refund as I did get to experience the lions and I understand transportation costs. You think I received a response after multiple attempts? Absolute robbery. I have so many friends coming in February that I would’ve loved to refer had this been handled correctly. I’ll spare them the headache!Written January 9, 2025
- katiecE1180VE0 contributionsGreat adventure!! Devils poolGreat adventure!! Definitely worth it. It is a bit of craziness getting through the border from Zim to Zam but worth it in the end! All of the different guides and drivers take care of you and the food provided is excellent.Written January 8, 2025
- kassandra19710 contributionsExperience of a life timeAfter arriving at the information centre, we were taken by jet boat to Livingstone Island. Here, we saw the sheer grandeur of the falls before proceeding to the pool. We were guided every second, every step of the way to the pool. After entering, we were warned of some small fish that may nibble on us and told not to panic. The two guides encouraged us to sit upon the rock ledge as well as pose, while one took the pictures and the other holder our legs. The rush over the falls near the Devil’s Pool was calm. After our experience, we were guided back for break mid on the island. The meals were light, but extra tasty. While being fared back to the information centre, we saw some more animals relaxing in the water. It was a fantastic experience.Written December 31, 2024
- L_Zul0 contributionsBeautiful place, beautiful people.Beautiful country, beautiful people. I went with my elderly parents. They were looked after everywhere. The people have care, from the hotel to the activities people. I really enjoyed every moment. I will return during the high water season to fully experience the falls. But I enjoyed every activity - helicopter ride, cruising the Zambezi. It was all beautiful.Written December 28, 2024

- AdventureDaniel0 contributionsEarly start but worth it. Lions! We chose the full day tour as it was the only way to get to Chobe early enough to see the lions before they hide in the heat of the day. The 5am pickup was punctual and we were the first through the border when it opened at 6am, then straight to the park. Saw the lions! Also buffalo, hippo, warthog, the back end of a giraffe and loads of elephants. The river cruise in the afternoon was very nice too. It was a long day but totally recommended. We also did devil's pool with the same company. Definitely an experience to remember. Overall the company did us a great deal and helped with transport options for the onward travel. Would use these guys again.Written December 1, 2024
- K4952HXmarkw0 contributionsGreat Fun but Ask to see the WaterfallsThis was a great couple of hours to spend seeing the sights of Victoria Falls township and park - but not the waterfalls. Best view on the tour was from the Outlook Cafe of the river gorge. Our guide was knowledgeable and entertaining but we did request he skip the end of the tour to the hotel and market so we could view the waterfalls on foot for an hour. He was happy to accommodate us. Entry to the waterfalls park is US$50 each and they are the highlight of the area, naturally, even in the dry season.Written October 22, 2024
- robertsS4010AR0 contributionsNot Worth The CostOverall I was quite disappointed. The scenery on the ride was industrial and nothing special until you get to the Victoria Falls Bridge. Ride stopped on the bridge and did not go further into Zimbabwe. We were there during the dry season so all you saw of the falls was a very small dry section of the gorge. But even during the wet season you would still see only a very very small section of the falls. On the bridge you will be besieged by folks trying to sell you things. I understand these folks are just trying to make a living but I found it very intrusive. The actual meal was OK not great. The nicest things about this is the old train carriages. They are very cool with beautiful wood interiors.Written October 13, 2024
- andreazD9913YT0 contributionsGreat tour but needs work on punctualityThe actual experience was honestly unforgettable and amazing but the customer service gave less to be desired. I hadchosen a 7:30am time slot so id know i would have enough time to get back for my airport transfer. The guy picking me up first told me 6:30 so i got up at 6then 7:30 which then i was annoyed moreso cuz i could have slept inbut then it took him until about 8:30 to get there.by the time we got to the tour i was experiencing anxiety about missing my airport transfer. Luckily the tour is only about an hour and a half and i got back by before 1 which my transfer was 1:30pm but i booked it that early to avoid that anxiety in the first place! It seemed like they just lunped all the people doing it into one transfer and the other people booked it at 9am. As i said i had a great time at the tour and im glad i got back in time but i rated it 3 stars for lack of punctuality.Written October 8, 2024
- Climber057118087150 contributionsBest part of my trip to zambiaAmazing tour the swim over zambezi was easy, they made sure we were safe at all times. the tour guide did an amazing job taking pictures in pool. They kept all our phones in a waterproof bag so didn’t have to worry about that. Provided towels and a great breakfast. So glad i did itWritten September 16, 2024
- 449scottm0 contributionsBUYER BEWARE - DO NOT TRUST THIS TOUR COMPANYDO NOT BOOK THIS! My wife and I were picked up in Victoria Falls and driven North ro an unknown location in Zimbabwe on the river. The driver acted like.he did not know what was going on I checked my map on the cell and saw we were driving away from the Zambia boarder - very concerning and scary for my wife- we were handed off to a tour with no explanation- when asked what was going on I was assured all was fine- the tour company passed us off to some other tour without our permission nor knowledge- we were STUCK and trapped. I had paid the $20/pp US for transport and acquired the proper muti entry Visa for Zimbabwe to Zambia for $100 US - NEVER USED IT. When we got into the boat for the tour I questioned the guide and through several questions they finally told me that we were not going to Devils Pool on the Zambia side but to Devils Cataract on the Zimbabwe side- I was very MAD I was deceived and ripped off. Traveled all this way - booked well in advance to have the tour company just deceive me and scare my wife! BUYER BEWARE! Now I'm out $100 Visa expenses and the $40 transfer fee not to mention my wife and I will probably never get to experience Devils Pool - this really SUCKS!Written September 10, 2024
- andreaaT4924VU0 contributionsVictoria Falls Devils PoolThis is such a unique experience that can't be replicated anywhere else. The group were great at communicating expectations with us about pickup and shuttle across the better from Zimbabwe to Zambia. We felt completely safe the entire time and the water was refreshing, but not freezing, at such an early hour. Definitely a memory for life.Written September 10, 2024
- WCAnth0 contributionsBucket listStunning experience, guides were so professional and made us feel very safe and comfortable. The most magical place in the world , if you are not in awe of these falls I don't know what would impress you. We were lucky as the falls were in full flow so even with raincoats we were still soaked to the skin but we loved it. I could happily stay here forever.
Entry price is reasonable and worth every penny, it is no wonder this is classed as one of nature's seven wonders . There are numerous viewing points and photo opportunities just make sure you have your camera weather sealed ( I ruined a £2k lens with water ingress ) and that you buy or hire the waterproof capes to limit how wet you get.
I could happily watch these every day so a one day trip is a must

The trip is $147 which is not cheap and total waste of money. You can do it yours for free.
Here is how you do it:
Ask a driver or the hotel to get a driver ($15 round trip) to bring you to the Victoria Falls(VF) in Zimbabwe. They have to replace cars in the border. Passing immigration is done in a zip. Both sides have tourist lines and it took 30 seconds.
When you get to the VF entry pay with Credit card $30 and you are in. No need for a tour guide as you walk on the trail and there are signs everywhere. The guide added nothing. Then if you want can get a taxi to the outlook cafe which is very nice!.
Going to the market 1000% waste of time. It a souvenir market and what pissed me off is after I bout small Rino $15 my guide got a cut from the vendor.
Then crocodile tour was looking on 2 frozen Croc. Yes, 2!!!
The VF park is very nice and we were the only mourns with a guide....

Hi nyfoodie2015
Thanks for taking the time to leave us a review.
Yes, you can organise your own transport to cross the border. You will need to get a company in Zambia to take you to the border and then a company in Zimbabwe to pick you up. This would not be a $15 round trip and you will need to wait on both sides of the border. I'm glad you had an easy time crossing the border but in peak periods this is not always the case and if you are not with a guide you will have to wait in line.
I'm sorry you felt that having a guide was a complete waste of time for the park. We provide guides not to show you the way but to tell you interesting facts about the wildlife, geology and history of this famous African landmark from a local perspective. Lot's of people opt to get a guide and they are not "morons" as you have stated. People travel from around the world to see the Falls and I'd highly recommend spending a bit extra to get a guide so that you don't miss things you otherwise would not have seen.
I note you enjoyed the lunch provided for you at Lookout Cafe and us taking you there. The souvenir market is very important to the local community and is in fact how many people in Victoria Falls feed their family's. Most tourists really enjoy the art that they create. Doing the crocodile farm tour was not part of the itinerary so I'm not sure why you have included this in your review.
Whilst I appreciate you trying to break down our costs to save people money they are in fact very misleading. Once you add up costs for the full time guide, lunch, transfers and time to prepare your trip I think you'll find them very reasonable for a full day. You cannot do it for free.

The tour itself is good, waterfalls are amazing, but it is not at all worth the money you pay for it, especially because entrance fee of 30 USD and transfer of 20 USD are excluded!! Guide was good but there is not much to do - the visit at waterfalls takes maximum 1, 5 hours and you really do not need a guide for going to market. If you need a guide and cannot just cross the birder (which is easy, other conference participants did it) then use just 2 hours tour, not this tour

As it was rainy season when we visited we were recommended to visit the Falls from the Zimbabwean side. We didn't want to go through the hassle of passing borders and negotiating taxi prices by ourselves so we were looking for a company to guide us through the process. Tamuka Travel was all we really needed and more. Simon and Locks are the best guides ever. Very flexible, enthousiastic and accomodating and with clearly alot of knowledge about the animals and the nature surrounding the Falls. We felt safe and taken care of during the whole tour. Definitely recommended!
