About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Voyage039599512290 contributionsAll expectations came true! The Safari was individually and carefully planned in advance. Kanuth proposed us his favorite places to Lake Natron und the Serengeti/Ngorngoro and finally we decided together what we wanted to do. For example it was for us of importance to stay in a lodge for 2 nights. This made the safari much calmer than changing every day. Communication with Kanuth always was of high reliability. Two times Kanuth was implemented on our wish an extra walking safari with local guides (payed additionally). So other local and well chosen experts and guides participated. The safari was organized in every detail and under way we benefited from his knowledge and his tremendous experience. Kanuth himself is just the best you can expect as a safari guide. As extraordinary events we booked (through Kanuth) a balloon flight over Serengeti and after the safari the climbing of Mount Meru - fabulous experiences. The grand final were relaxing days in Zanzibar. Thank you very much, Kanuth!Written August 13, 2024
- Peds890 contributionsFamily Trip of a LifetimeWe are truly thankful for the trip of a lifetime that Kanuth Adventure Safaris gave us. My parents have used them for many years, for good reason. So, when it was our turn to travel, there was no hesitation. Our family of 10 got to experience first-hand the beauty of the three parks on our 4-day safari. We could not have asked for better guides. Tarimo and Micheal gave us an amazing experience. They were extremely knowledgeable and found the animals that we were looking for. The lodges also were exceptional. Our trip was planned to perfection! We will be sending everyone their way. Thank you from all of us for this fabulous trip of a lifetime!Written December 5, 2023
- Dream609864634940 contributionsVery professionalIt was an amazing Safari. Very professional tour guide/driver. We saw a lot of animals and the hotel in Ngorongoro was excellent. Kanuth will be my choice next Safari in TanzaniaWritten August 21, 2022
- Suna19650 contributionsHolidays with KanuthI was looking for someone to organize a safari in Tanzania for me, I wanted to fulfill my childhood dream, by chance I found Kanuth Adventure Safaris. He organized a 28 day safari for me and my son. We visited Nyerere NP, Udzungwa mountains NP, Ruaha NP, Kitulo plain NP, Katavi plain NP and Mahale mountains NP. If I am healthy I will come to Tanzania again and I will not look for any more agency, I have already found one and that is Kanuth Adventures Safaris. Kanuth is sympathetic, dedicated and tries to arrange even the impossible. He is simply a top notch and totally awesome. I can only recommend his services, he has 5 stars with meWritten July 5, 2022
- 131olep0 contributionsKanuth is excellent value for moneyWe went with Kanuth Adventure Safaris on a private 3-night, 4-day safari to Mikumi National Park and Nyerere National Park (formerly Selous Game Reserve). We had a fantastic experience with Kanuth himself, who is a certified guide for all parks in Tanzania as well as a great driver. This is important because you do not need to pick up a guide when entering a new park; you just enter and Kanuth will do the spotting on the game drive, and he is GOOD at it. We did not feel under time pressure at any point in time. Kanuth showed up at our hotel in Morogoro 5 a.m. and 2 h later, we were in Mikumi where the fun began. On the way out, we had to wait for the lions to pass the highway – it really does not get any better than that. The following two days were spent in Nyerere National Park where the wildlife is abundant and with very few visitors. Contact Kanuth and he will design a program for you regardless of if you have only 1 day available or would like to stay overnight in the parks or in nearby hotels. Next time, we are going to test his cooking skills since his CV also include several years of experience as a safari cook!Written April 20, 2022

- Flyer159918797490 contributionsGreat Experience with KanuthTarimo has been very kind and patient to answer to all our questions and doubts we recommend this company for everybody. We had two days Safari in Mikumi park. We were very happy with this tour. We saw the big 4 (there are no Rhinos at Mikumi) They are very professional. Everything was perfect. Our guide, Muddy has served us very professionally. He gave many info to us about wild life, he was very friendly. Also he was a good driver as well. Our stay in Camp Bastian was also perfect, all hotel staff was very kind to us. It was very clean and the foods are quite ok.Written January 6, 2020
- Margriet M0 contributionsBeautiful MikumiWith limited time in Tanzania we opted to take a three-day safari to the Mikumi National Park, the northernmost section of the Selous National Park on the Southern Circuit. We had booked the tour in the UK using TripAdvisor recommendations, choosing Kanuth out of the plethora of companies available (even more, of course, if you are more spontaneous and book your safari once you get to Tanzania). The safari was a mixed bag, so for ease let’s address the pros and cons: PROS: • OUR SAFARI GUIDE: The one clear and obvious bonus of our safari was our wonderful and highly knowledgeable driver/guide Dotto. We would absolutely recommend that if you choose to book with Kanuth, and need an English speaking guide, you request Dotto. He guided us on three game drives: an evening drive on the day of arrival; a full day’s drive the following day, organising a packed lunch for us with the safari camp; and an early morning drive on our day of departure. Dotto soon realised that whilst it is, of course, brilliant to see ‘The Big Five’ we personally felt that there is a lot more to experiencing the Savannah than just seeing the big animals, not least the incredible variety of bird life - we saw three species of eagle and an amazing array of other birds. Dotto also knew exactly where to take us to view some wonderful sights, for example: a lioness with her four cubs; all done quietly and calmly without the frantic rush that so many safari vehicles and drivers display. • THE TENTED LODGE: We chose the upgraded option of Vuma Hills Tented Camp; if you have the budget we would recommend this lovely tented camp. Beautiful, well-appointed tents, wonderful setting, lovely staff and good food with the additional entertainment of Bush babies appearing at dinnertime! CONS: • SAFARI JEEP: You need to be aware that the travel time from Dar Es Salaam to Vuma and the Mikumi National Park can be anything up to 7 hours and whilst Mikumi is one of the more accessible parks travelling from Dar it is still a long day’s drive. We were aware of this but we did not expect to be making the trip in a vehicle that was clearly not fit for purpose. The jeep was very old and had no air conditioning and no radio, so travel was quite uncomfortable. • SAFARI ITINERARY: Our agreed ‘safari itinerary’ was an evening drive on the day of arrival, a full day drive the following day, and then on the last day a walking safari. Dotto was unaware that the walking safari was a prearranged element of the three-day tour and despite his best efforts he was unable to negotiate this with the park rangers. It is unclear whether Mikumi actually offer walking safaris and so we felt that this lack of clarity was an issue. Given that this was one of our reasons for choosing this itinerary the last morning was a little lack-lustre. On the whole we were happy with the tour but we feel that communication with the guide could have been better, as could have been organisation and quality of transport.Written October 27, 2019
- pawel h0 contributionsGood Safari ExperienceChoosing Safari Company is not an easy thing to do. There are more than a thousand companies offering Safari tour. Some of them are owned by Local businessman, but a lot are owned by foreign people. When we travel to specific country we like to support local business, so we have limited the choice only to Tanzanian companies. For us safari was the most expensive attraction during our 3 weeks' vacation so we have also looked at a price a lot. Kanuth Adventure company won due to couple of reasons - They gave the best price, they were owned by a Tanzanian man, they had good reviews and communication went really smooth and fast. We booked a 5 days Safari, in a group of minimum 4 people. Day 1 Tarangire - night near Day 2 drive to Serengeti - night in Serengeti Day 3 Game Drive in Serengeti - night in Serengeti Day 4 Drive to Ngorongoro - night near Crater Day 5 morning in crater afternoon Back to Arusha For 5 days Safari with accommodation (Tents in camps) and food we paid less than a 1000$/person. I guess the price was low also because we have been driving much older car than the rest safari companies. It got broken couple of times, but repairs were quick and it was more of an experience itself than a complaint from our side. The car had everything which was needed though (open roof, electricity plug, fridge). Be aware that there is a lot of dust on the way, especially when there is no AC and windows have to be open. At the end of the trip we were trying to help drive through other cars on the road due to a heavy rain on a hill and instead we got stuck in a ditch. With the help of couple other people we were able to pull out our Land cruiser and get back on the road. Pretty cool ! Tents were really comfortable, durable and big as for 2 people, it looked like military tent. They also provided mattresses. The only disadvantage was the luggage in front of the open roof during the trip in Tarangire, therefore we could watch animals only on sides. Starting in Arusha, we have met our guide (Moses) and our cook (Eric) as well as our companions from Cyprus (Navid & Andrea - awesome people). In Tarangire we have seen a lot of elephants, gazelles (Thomson, Impala, Grant, Waterback), warthog, giraffes, zebras, monkeys, birds, and hiding cheetah on a hill ). Moses was explaining types of animals, they behaviors, difference between males and females (still cannot recognize :P ), history of the park and so on. This is a big plus as at some point we knew all animals around. We have asked a lot of questions, but a lot of times he was starting the conversation. Moses was stopping on every sign we have requested, to see animals or other needs, like shopping before safari or peeing during safari. Moses and Eric were waking up almost every day early morning at 5 am to cook for us and drive on safari as early as possible, that is a big plus us animals could be usually seen in some action in the morning or in the evening. In Serengeti we have seen all animals with some action as well. Cheetah, Lions, Leopard, Hiena, Jackal, Hippos, a lot of Gazelles, Elephants, Buffalos, Zebras, crocodiles, monkeys and many other so it was mostly due to Moses work which we are grateful for. He was spotting many animals, sometimes we got to the place with many cars already but sometimes we were first to see lions or cheetahs in action. We had a lot of interesting conversations with Moses and Eric which gave us a lots of fun. It would be good if they could inform us in advance what is the plan when we get to the place, I feel we were lacking this type of information. Chef Eric was preparing good meals always with a smile. We have ordered a vegetarian meal, which we have received during a whole trip. At the end of the trip, thanks to Moses we have stopped in real Masai market, not tourist one and got tier Masai sandals. Besides some of above issues I would rate this Safari as good one.Written October 21, 2019
- DrRichardUSA0 contributionsTwo Days in Mikumi Fantastici was in Dar Es Salaam and had only two extra days for safari. Kanuth provided one within my time constraints that was better than I could have expected. Price reasonable; experience over the top great. Saw lions and other "difficult to see" animals; elephants and giraffes so close I could touch them (if it were allowed). My guide Paul was the BEST. He got what I was looking for and made sure everything about the trip contributed to that sort of experience. For travelers new to Tanzania, Kanuth trips and guides are safe, trustworthy, and knowledgeable. Thanks, Kanuth and Paul; I'll carry these memories with me for the rest of my life!Written September 11, 2019
- ninifaz0 contributions3 day safari to Mikumi National ParkOur safari was great!!!! The communication with Kanuth Adventure Safaris was highly professional. I always received a response within minutes. Our driver PAUL picked us up on time and drove very professionally. He is full of wisdom, street smarts, and humor. We really enjoyed Paul for the entire 3 days of our safari. We saw the Big 5, and had a great experience overall. Please request Paul as your safari guide and you will be entertained the entire time. Thank you Kanuth for an incredible safari! Nina & HarisWritten August 5, 2019
- Jamesandcarolineuk0 contributions6 day Wildebeest Migration Safari with MosesJust back from a 6 day Wildebeest Migration Safari with Kanuth. Our guide Moses did a great job of looking after us and finding wildlife. We saw cheetahs, leopards, lots of lions and much more. No rhinos but Moses did do his best to try and find them. The accommodation was much better than I expected for the price. Amazing views from the Ngorongoro Wildlife Lodge. I would recommend Moses and Kanuth to others.Written July 24, 2019
- Zeevush0 contributionsVery BAD experience with kanuthCars - 1/10 - very bad vehicle the car is VERY OLD, and seems like it's having VERY BAD MAINTENANCE. The LandCruiser car of kanuth is screeching during the entire drive, and the whole car (metal skeleton, chairs, etc) is making very loud noises as if its going to break apart at any moment of our drive. Also, and in appart from that, the gear of the car broke down on the start of our trip in the middle of the safari - our guide stopped our trip and took us to a garage, where we spent almost 3 hours while they were trying to fix it (during all that time, not even once did the kantuh guide approched us to asked how we are doing or gave us an update about what is going on). From that point on the gear continued making troubles (even after the 3 hours "fix" with us at the garage) - for the driver it was very hard to drive, and for us it was a nightmare with constant fear of the car breaking up agien and us tourists getting stuck at the safari or having to spend even more time of our trip at the garage agien. We have read reviews with warnings about Kanuth cars breaking down and we didn't listen - we advise not to make our mistake. We regret taking the trip with Kanuth and his Land cruiser vehicle. Guide - 3/10 - very bad guiding driver Our guide, named Moses pallangyo, almost doesnt offer any informative stories / information by himself. If he does say somthing by his initiative once in an hour / two hours during the safari, it is usually a short sentence or two. We found ourselves feeling the need to keep asking questions by ourselves, because otherwise we would get no interresting information from the kanuth guide, but even then - the answers were short, one or two sentences. The guide could spot animals where others stopped to watch them (and for that only the 3 points our of 10), but It is very frustrating to go through the safari and to get no interesting information / stories - and it was very unpleasant for us to have to keep ask so many questing in order to get somthing (of poor information none the less). Of importantce to mention that we also read about the animals online, and found mistakes in the limited information our guide shared with us. Knowing the animals or how to drive a really bad maintained vehicle is not enough in our feelings. In our feelings, our guide (Moses) was not able or maybe does not know how to convey information to others, how to create a pleasent feeling to tourists, or how to be attentive and care about the needs of his clients (although we felt he did notice our difficulties, he did not much in the matter). The kanuth guide even repremanded us more then a few times, and in a very unpleasent way, when we didn't remember some small thing he said few days back, or when somthing was not for his satisfaction (for us it felt like being with "anal" personality and the time with the kanuth guide was not pleasent in our feeling). To mention the kanuth guide was very self marketing of himself and of the company (repeated up to 20 times that his "only goal is to make us happy" - maybe he was taught to say these) - but it seems / felt that he did not implement those "marketing" sentences in reallity, and so him going on saying them over and over added a sad irony to the situation and to our experience. To mention that we did spent some time in Tanzania with other guides who are not of kanuth, and with them it was a very different and pleasent experience for us, and so we regret choosing Kanuth on this important aspect (driver guide) as well. Safety - 1/10 - very bad The vehicle provided by Kanuth had no proper seat belt for one of us, and so the Kanuth guide (Moses) - instead of fixing it, told us it will be just fine for us to drive the safari with no seat belt, because in his opinion he is a very skilled driver (self marketing on that too) and "nothing bad can happen". We asked him for several times to fix the seat belt - one of the times was after witnessing another Toyota vehicle that got turned over on its back in the safari - but our guide driver (Moses) did not do anything about it. The Kanuth vehicle felt like it can break down anymoment in the middle of the safari - and it actually did break up, luckily for us it wasnt after the garage got closed or else we might have stayed long time at night in the safari. *There is also a need to warn people of the TZETZE FLY - that is transmitting RELLY DANGEROUS disease called "Sleeping Sickness" (also known as African Trypanosomiasis) - SYMPTOMS usually appear 1 to 2 weeks after the bite of the fly and the infection include a red sore (chancre), skin rash, severe head ache, insomnia, muscle pain, and after a few more weeks - weight loss and neurological symptoms - untill seizures and complete COMA (central nervous system failure). Cases of sleeping sickness continue to show up among tourists who ave been near Serengeti, Tarangire, Lake Manyara - among which Kanuth take us and other tourists to. We got bitten - several times - by the TZETZE fly during the safari with Kanuth guide. Kanuth and hes guide Moses did nothing to warn us of the fly and it's spreading disesae (for the very lease they could have advise us to wear long bright clothes of several layers). On the contrary - when we asked about the TZETZE FLY and hes risks, the answer of our guide (Moses) was that there is "absolutley no danger with him or hes bites". We believe it is needed for others to be warned. To note that 3 days of safari are really enough, we feel that more than that is not needed (4 days max if you really want to). Total - 2/10 (very bad) - I had a very bad experience with Kanuth company (and with the guide Moses). There are thousands of safari companies to pick yours from.Written June 29, 2019

- 996angelinak0 contributions4 days safariWe had made a 4days safari in tent. Was a fabulous experience. Our driver and our chef are excellent people, very helpful and polite. The driver of ours Gabriel is very experienced and could detect the animals in the parks from far away. Also the owner Mr. Kanuth is very helpful and we had a perfect communication through what's app. Also the prices are very reasonable. We recommend the company to everyone who looks for a safari adventure.Written March 30, 2019

There is no word to describe how great this experience was. I had even booked a longer tour with 3 nights. Michael is a great driver and I felt safe anytime. Wildlife in Selous is just wonderful.
