Great tour, with all the things you want to do when visiting Zanzibar!
Great tour, with all the things you want to do when visiting Zanzibar! The higher price compared to other tours is fair, because this is all private. We had our own car/driver and an a/c cooled van and got to see alt the things we wanted: Jozani, a spice-farm, Prison Island and Stone Town. The trip also included an authentic swahili lunsj in the forrest. Our driver and the guides vere very flexible regarding the time schedule and you are allowed to spend the time you want at det different places. We ended up traveling for a few more hours than scheduled, but that was because we wanted to relax and swim at Prison Island and because of traffic jam in the area around Stone Town. Make sure to bring some cash if you want to tip the different guides or buy souvenirs.

          An interesting part of Zanzibar
A very well organised tour. You have to start before 9 am if you want to see everything in no hurry. Our driver Kamhis was very helpful.

          Helpful driver, but no guide
It took us about 300m walk in the hot African morning sun from our ship to outside the port where the car was waiting for us. Then it took another 5 minutes to find the car as our name was put inside the car so we couldn't see it. The car was an old black Toyota Alphard with very good aircon. The driver (forgive me, forgot the name) didn't speak much as he was not a guide. We were on this tour without a guide. First he took us to a fish market. Someone suddenly showed up and showed us around and explained everything in English. Quite knowledgable, probably a "local" guide. We tipped the "guide". Then the driver took us to the National Museum of Tanzania, paid the entrance and accompanied us around. Quite interesting exhibits (including the Presidential Rolls Royce), but sadly both the museum and the exhibits are lack of maintenance and the place was rather hot. Next was a some kind of a souvenir center with pricey handicrafts. We asked the driver to take us to a more "touristic" souvenir market where we could buy caps, flags, etc. which he kindly did. After done with shopping, the driver said, "We're done, now I'll take you back to the port." So much for a "Dar Es Salaam city sightseeing private tour". Not much of the city was worth seeing, obviously.

Chaos that may drive you crazy
The chaos of this place may drive you crazy. If you are traveling for the first time to Dar es Salaam, come with patience and spare shillings. You will need both. From the moment you are close to the terminal with luggage the porters are on you, all wanting to take your luggage and help, the Dar es Salaam side is even worse. There are a number of ptocess to go through before you get on the ferry. Enjoy your journey.

          Aqeel made the difference.
Aqeel is a great guy. Very helpful and goes out of his way to keep his passengers happy. We had an airport transfer at 5 am and there was no need for him to accompany us to the airport but he came. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Best wishes Aqeel !

          Driver didn’t show up
Driver was not present at airport upon our arrival. I waited 15 minutes before calling the business phone, driver answered and told me he was not coming. He said the company never informed him of a pickup that day. I booked this private transfer to avoid dealing with random taxis at 3am, but that’s exactly what I was forced to do. Please do not book with company.

Great way to experience so many things if you are short on time!!
This was an amazing day!! They pack so much fun in one day its unreal!! Plus they were super responsive and organized before and during the trip. You didnt have to worry about a thing. Every guide was knowledgable and positive. You had a time schedule but they were great at working at your pace. I cannot speak highly enough of this company and trip!!! Helpful tip: you will carry your belonging and anything you buy during the whole second half and there are likely 7 people you will be tipping throughout the day, its a little spendy but so so so so worth every penny!

          Reliable service
I used the service on two occasions. One instance the driver had to wait for me for over an hour due to late departure of the plane but he was there and waited with me at destination to make sure I am safe. Highly recommended

For me the ferry is a good way to travel from Dar to Zanzibar. It gives a nice view of the Dar shore and in Zanzibar you litterly arrive in the centre of Stone Town. BUT be aware, going from Zanzibar to Dar is a little nightmare for me.. The sea us rough and a lot of people get seasick including myself. The service of the ferry is good though. No complaints there, although it is recommanded to bring a jacket or sweater on the boat cause the AC is standing on Freezer mode.

Smooth ride (just under 2 hours). Easy clean and comfortable. Make sure you book ahead as we got our tickets (business) by skin of our nose day earlier

We bought our tickets at the office a couple days in advance. Had a local with us (our Safari guide) which helped a lot and I don't think we could've navigated it alone.

It was a great experience, felt very safe all around. The waters can get very choppy, so if you're prone to sea sickness, take the earlier ferries (we were told water is calmer in the morning, this seemed to be true though we didn't have a comparison) and try to fall asleep.

I recommend paying the extra 10-15 USD for the VIP class, but business class is okay as well. For VIP, there's an air-conditioned waiting room, boarding was a lot less hectic and overall it was less crowded vs business.

There are official "porters" who will help you navigate the dock and help you through the security process, then ask for an exorbitant tip. They don't really ask if you need help, and honestly the help was kind of needed, and such is travelling, you sometimes need to tip "official" people for their help when it's how they make a living. We didn't figure out how to decline the large amount on the way there, but got away with a fairer tip on the way back. Just be prepared with a few thousand shillings for that tip.

Getting off the ferry you will be offered a taxi dozens of times. Just be assertive with your "no" if you don't need one.

The pick up from my hotel was excellent and the driver was very good. But the bad experience came when trying to board the ferry. Everyone was just pushing and shoving their way with no form of organization. The people who own, operate and run that business needs to do better. Exiting the ferry was just as bad.

Me , wife and daughter had good ferry ride in Dec 2018. In start when you board , the Ferry boarding process is bit stressful and confusing as you have to navigate through loads of people via security check waiting area then tag the luggage for luggage cart. The agents for luggage will keep coming and distracting you, chaps earn there living on these services. But if you dont want to user their services, you have to stay on course with polity no. The tagging is bit easy. Then when you are inside ferry then you have good fun, this is very cool, comfortable , well managed , seats and good, toilets are clean, staff is very polite and helpful.

Boat was very nice, the trip was pleasant. But it doesn’t matter. The experience on the harbour prior to the journey was a stressful nightmare. The porters are awful, impolite and expensive. Do yourself a favor and fly to Zanzibar, avoid the boat at all cost.

The Ferry trip from Dar es Salaam to Zanzibar was smooth, but…. the porters were extremely pushy and required tip., more than I anticipated giving them and asked if I had more to give.. excuse me sir🙄🤬. My husband was so done and didn’t even need help with our luggage and only agreed to allowed them to port for us, in an effort to allow them to
        make a few dollars..

I’ve never been on a high speed ferry, so I was surprised at how fast it was going. At one point it was rocking quite a bit, so be prepared with Dramamine if you need it. They also hand out sick bags. They have bathrooms and refreshments on board. If you sit on the front deck you may get wet. The business class seats look a little more comfortable than economy but in my opinion economy is just fine.
