About
This was a review from Jess came from Newzealand :
I cannot recommend this experience highly enough! Everything was absolutely incredible. Maroune was super helpful giving us public transport directions and asking us what we wanted to cook. I’m a vegetarian but my friend eats meat and they happily arranged for a half vegetarian half meat menu. We then had the warmest welcome from khadija and her wonderful daughter Selma. We spent the afternoon learning how to cook the most delicious food with clear instructions and lots of taste testing along the way. We had lots of laughs and learnt so much!! Afterwards we sat around the table for well over and hour and compared cultures and experiences. If you’re in Rabat this is a must do - it’s been our highlight.

I was the only guest who did the cooking class on 23 March. It was an excellent experience. Chef Khadija and her fluent English speaking sister Marla were extremely hospitable. They asked beforehand what I wanted to learn - couscous. I was shown and even helped in every step of the process, and the product was outstanding - a beef couscous with caramelised onions, pumpkin, zucchini, raisins and toasted almonds. It took about 3 hours, including the eating. I highly recommend it.

The family treated us like family upon arrival, welcoming us with traditional tea and cookies. Salma, daughter of Chef Khadija was very sweet, and lovely. She served as the translator while we made Lamb Tajine, a traditional Moroccan dish with Chef Khadija.
Salma did a wonderful job explaining their traditions and customs throughout the lesson. It was obvious how experienced Chef Khadija is, and how much she enjoys cooking and teaching.
Obviously, cooking a new dish was very cool- (it came out amazing, by the way!) but I think what I enjoyed most about this class, was their company. Thank you again for having us.

Lovely host and the best tangible we’ve had in Morocco! Chef Khadija was funny, sweet & the best host. I loved that she made us laugh while having my husband do the hard work! :) We made chicken Tanjine, vegetables and bread it was better than the highly recommended restaurant we went to the night before. Highly recommend!!

I thoroughly enjoyed my cooking experience with Khadija. She is very adept at staging all the various dishes that accompanied our Chicken Tangine main dish. She gave great directions and techniques to allow me to make it at home. Sitting down after we plated all the food was very satisfying. It all tasted amazing! Khadija is a very generous hostess. What a great experience!

I would have liked to give 5 stars but unfortunately that would not reflect the experience.
Although very kind and a good cook, this course lacked the practical aspect. In fact, we assisted more in the preparation of the meal than really participated and it is a real shame.
The kitchen is also really small for a group of 7 and poorly equipped for groups (only 2 cutting boards, a very small table) we were literally stepping on each other.
On the other hand, we also booked a visit in French which ended with a visit in English (which does not bother us), but Khadija's limited English and French make the explanations summary and sometimes confusing. ...
A rewarding and relatively expensive experience but certainly not a cooking class.

Thank you for sharing your experience. We apologize for the aspects that fell short of your expectations, particularly in participation and space. Our intent is to guide you through each cooking step with hands-on practice alongside the chef. Although there might be language limitations, the chef's 30+ years of experience in traditional Moroccan cuisine offer a deep, authentic learning opportunity beyond language. Our family spent the afternoon with Chef Khadija and it was my favorite part of our trip to Rabat. We arrived with our children and had tea and cookies to start. Then we worked together to make Chicken Tajine, a few vegetables (even my picky daughter loved these!) batboute, and Msemen.
She is incredibly patient, knowledgeable, and kind. Even during a very busy weekend (as our trip was during Eid Al Adha), with lots of family and friends in town, she was very kind and generous. Every need was taken into account, and we were made to feel like family. It was a beautiful experience for all of us and I would highly recommend it!

Great experience in the company of Khadija who opened the doors of her kitchen to us so that we could prepare delicious Moroccan dishes. For about 2 hours we were able to prepare a meal consisting of a chicken tagine and two vegetable side dishes. We also prepared homemade bread. What a pleasure to then be able to taste what we have prepared!

This cooking lesson in Rabat is one of the highlights of our trip to Morocco. It was such a pleasure to learn to cook local cuisine from Chef Khadija (Marouane’s mom). They were very welcoming of us. We enjoyed the cooking experience, Chef Khadija & Maroune’s hospitality and even the chance to celebrate my wife’s birthday in their home. We highly recommend this cooking lesson with Chef Khadija.

We were very happy about the experience. You get into her house and kitchen and follow and help her prepare the food. She was very flexible and allowed for variations (berber omelette, vegetarian tajine, ...). She speaks little english and french and luckily we had a darija speaking fried with us. The food was excellent.

The cooking class exceeded all of my expectations. I learned to make an amazing chicken tajine Moroccan flatbread and three kinds of vegetables. The chef and her daughter are delightful and it was a great day. I’m glad I’m going to be in Morocco for a little bit longer so I can take more cooking classes from her!
