About
The seven men of Marrakesh are Awlya (plural of Wali). Awlya is an Arabic word that refers to people who Allah has blessed with a special rank among the Muslims.. It’s been said that these seven saints were the seven men who shone in their times as lights of guidance because of the blessings that Allah showered upon them.
Since the 17th century, Moroccans from all walks of life have constantly visited the graves of the seven saints in Marrakesh to pray to Allah. They are drawn to the idea that visiting these graves could heal their diseases, help them fulfill their wishes, and allow them to achieve tranquility of their souls.

About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Adventure502566872470 contributionsA wonderful tour by a fantastic guide! Our guide, Ben, was very friendly, kind and respectful. We had a real lesson about Marrakech and its culture. We felt safe - mother and daughter - being guided by Ben! A wonderful person that we enthusiastically recommend, a true Ambassador of Marrakech. As a bonus, Ben took some great photos of us. Thank you very much, we really appreciate it!Written September 14, 2024
- kierab1520 contributionsKnowledgeable guide, unfortunate shopping/scam experienceAz-eddine is really knowledgeable about Marrakech, patriotic and well known in the area. He did take us to a herbalist called Bio Ksour that turned out to be a complete scam (over priced products and fake saffron that we felt pressured into buying). When I told Az-eddine the saffron was fake he said it was an issue of quality, which just is not the case - I was sold dyed plants/wood shavings. Do yourself a favour and read the Google reviews of Bio Ksour to make sure you avoid it!Written August 8, 2024
- emmabR4476WD0 contributionsNot a good experienceOur tour was over shadowed by the scams we experienced in the Bio Ksour shop that we were taken to by Az-eddine. This shop is a known scam so it’s disappointing that we were taken there by a trusted guide. Furthermore, we felt that our purchasing of fake saffron was facilitated by Az-eddine. Huge pity as I believe Az-eddine is very knowledgeable about his city.Written August 8, 2024
- Rebecca B0 contributionsThoroughly recommend the lovely 'Ben'I had a walking tour arranged through one of the normal platforms, and the guide cancelled with less than 24 hours' notice. Luckily , we were staying at a fab riad who managed to get a last minute private tour with 'Ben'. He took on board what we wanted out of the tour - culture, history, etc - and where we wanted to go. He was brilliant. He answered any questions sensitively and fully, entered into discussions, showed us all around our chosen list of sights, whilst explaining and providing context. He was great, and I would not hesitate in recommending himWritten April 28, 2024
- 38beb0 contributionsThoroughly recommendOur original walking tour booked through GuruWalk was cancelled with less than 24 hours' notice, and we had already been in Marrakech a couple of days so this was disappointing. Luckily the owner of our riad recommended and organised for "Ben" to step in at very short notice. He was brilliant! He tailored oir time to what we wanted and brought the city to life. He talked knowledgably about the history and cultural origins, as well as sensitively navigating current cultural aspects and tensions, and at the same time highlighting the beautiful and heartwarming ways of life. Until we had this tour, despite its sights and sounds, a city can feel a bit one dimensional. This tour made marrakech feel vividly multi-dimensional. I can wholeheartedly recommend.Written April 20, 2024
- lisahX9279XV0 contributionsEnjoyable, stress-free tour for female travellersAz-eddine met us at the door of our hotel and walked with us to visit the areas we asked him to take us to. We are 2 female travellers with one being a wheelchair user, Az-eddine took over steering the wheelchair through the narrow streets and made sure that we could use accessible entrances. He is knowledgeable about the history of the city and answered any questions that we had as we walked to our first stop. We visited the Ben Youssef Madrassa, the souks where he helped us find the items we asked for and Le Jardin Secret. He made sure that we had a large enough taxi to accommodate the wheelchair on our return to the hotel. Nothing was too much trouble for him, highly recommended. Thanks!Written March 11, 2024
- staceyhP8522SU0 contributionsThe Night Life in Marrakech Tour with Az-eddine did not disappoint. In December 2023, I traveled with family to Morocco for the first time and was excited to book the Night Life in Marrakech Tour with Az-eddine. We met at Jamaa El Fna market square, the heart of the medina, and for the next three hours, we walked the narrow cobbled streets and tasted traditional Moroccan foods. Az-eddine guided us past the high-traffic areas of vendors and tourists to historical landmarks on quiet roads where locals and dignitaries worked and lived; his knowledge of Morocco's past expanded our already colorful canvas of the city. Later, we ventured outside the medina, where we easily/comfortably navigated crowded sidewalks/streets and admired the beautiful architecture of the Koutoubia Mosque. Throughout the evening, we enjoyed an assortment of delicious eats that made the non-vegans and one vegan happy; Az-eddine was great/sensitive in identifying food vendors that catered to my dietary restrictions. As a guide, Az-eddine's generosity, kindness, and patience (answering our plethora of questions) sweetened our experience even more. The Night Life in Marrakech Tour with Az-eddine did not disappoint.Written January 16, 2024
- sarahfK4316YO0 contributionsGreat local tour guideGreat 5hrs of touring Marrakesh with Az-eddine. Knowledgeable, kind and took our interests into consideration. Not being hassled (we are a mother and teenage daughter travelling alone) nor getting lost was worth the money alone. Highly recommendWritten August 4, 2023
- ash1475840 contributionsNot recommendedNot recommended as he didn't try to understand our focus and was mostly pointing things with no real insight to history and engaging any conversationWritten July 20, 2023
- B0uD0 contributionsPerfect way to visit the souks!Great experience - Azzedine was very charming and clearly knows every inch of his hometown and took me to places in the souk I would never have found on my own. I went with the intention of just looking but inevitably couldn't resist and ended up doing all my shopping in the one afternoon I spent with Azzedine! Highly recommended.Written June 24, 2023

- mforpar0 contributionsA fantastic way to see Marrakech up close and personal.Spending a day with Az-eddine was a delight! His wealth of knowledge is incredible and he made the city come alive with stories of its history, culture and heritage. He knows the city like the back of his hand and we covered so many different areas, old and new; markets to monuments, hotels to alley ways - there was never a dull moment. I can absolutely recommend Az-eddine as a guide and a friend; he is remarkable. I was so very lucky to have been introduced to him.Written May 18, 2023

It’s a blessing to find and meet Azeddine. A true gem of a man in Marrakech his deep knowledge of national and local history and culture will leave you knowing the ‘real’ Morocco and Marrakech. Being a local he will show you insights you will struggle to find with any other guide. I was blessed to go on this journey with Azeddine as my guide, and in the end my friend. I need a lot more time&space to give you the full picture, but a journey through Marrakech with Azeddine, it’s an adventure and memory for a lifetime. Thanks Azeddine! P.s. ask him about food spots too! ;)
