About
Merzouga is a small town out on the edge of the Sahara Desert of Erg Chebbi. Merzouga is only 20 km away from Algerian border where the paved road ends and the real Sahara Desert sand dunes begin. Merzouga desert is the most common destination in Morocco for Camel treks and desert camps. To experience the Sahara desert dunes it is a must to take a camel trip and stay overnight in a berber tent or in a luxury camp. The camel trip takes approximately 1 hour through amazing red-orange sand dunes at sunset to reach the sahara desert camp where you will be served wonderful and rich dinner, enjoy a musical play with the staff around blazing fire. But note it is at least a ten hours drive from the erg chebbi dunes to Marrakech. The trip is possible in 3 days however we recommend a slow pace over 4 or 5 days.

Doesnt do what they say they will do. Dont recommend

A lot of hassle into the camel and quad drive, it is not well communicated. Not Informed about facilities. Drivers do not speak languages. A lot of scams.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDABLE AGENCY

agency with very neat decoration, relating to good taste. Following the warm welcome of the masters of the place, Khalilet Ahmed, around a wonderful local tea and a map of the region, we finally decide among the many options offered to take the exceptional route of the valley of roses for to start. Decision made at the end of the day for a departure the next morning ...

First very good impression with our guide, Khalil to make it shorter, at the wheel of a very comfortable 4x4, impeccably clean, well maintained which will be scented with rose later.

The discovery of this exceptional road began with the crossing of the Oasis of Skoura on a path closest to plots of land carefully cultivated and maintained in the image of gardens with a variety of crops and a unique local irrigation based on a series of close earth wells. The cultivators are at work from the first hours of this day. We crisscross the path as close as possible to dwellings and kasbahs, unique in their architecture.

In the valley of roses, we are again warmly welcomed around a delicious mint tea by women who explain their activity to us in the production of various natural rose-based products.

We continue our journey through wild landscapes with unspoiled nature before taking a track that will lead us to the caves of the nomads who had so stirred our curiosity. Once again by sharing the tea with a nomadic family hospitlière in a cave and with the precious help of our charming guide Khalil who can translate our questions, we understand how much these nomads live only for the essential and are very attached to their freedom, despite living conditions that still had the effect of a shock. Before leaving, we see children having fun around a wheelbarrow, a simple game!

Further on, we came across a very cheerful young shepherd with his flock of sheep accompanied by his dogs in the midst of such a wild landscape, bursting with tufts of thyme and sagebrush.

Our guide Khalil is a precious pearl for his knowledge of the country, the region, history, culture, fauna, flora, anecdotes, always with his sense of humor, his perfect ability to forge a bond with the people met on the way.

The icing on the cake: Khalil surprised us with his talent as an enchanting artist at lunchtime in a superb place in the valley of figs. He just had to grab a musical instrument on the spot to sing in Berber.

Thank you so much Khalil, the enchanter throughout the journey with his humor, his good humor, for an unforgettable and very rewarding day.

This successful adventure gives us the urge to renew it to other horizons.

From the bottom of my heart: many thanks to Khalil, Ahmed the enchanter for a memorable, unforgettable and enriching day that marks our life.
Thank you also to the person of the welcome with sublime eyes.

I highly recommend!

My friend and I took a 3-day tour from Marrakech, to Merzouga and the Erg Chebbi dunes, to arrive in Fez.

Our guide khalil made the experience perfect since he is friendly, he spoke French and drove very well on difficult roads. He explained to us what we saw on the road, told us about the customs of the country and answered all our questions. He knew a lot and was very interesting.

We saw the most magnificent landscapes, spent an unforgettable night in a Berber tent in the dunes and discovered the Dades gorges which have become our favorite place in Morocco.

I highly recommend Morroco Desert Tour, these are well organized circuits that are definitely worth a visit. And I wish you to have khalil as your guide!

Awesome Trip!
Jun 2019 • Couples
Highlight of my Morocco is definitely trip to Merzouga! The tour was amazing. It's a long way out to Merzouga but along the way we have stopped by multiple spots to take amazing photos. They take care of our transport arrangement as well and we get to travel to Fes at the end of the trip with their special arrangement! Thanks for everything! Highly recommended!
