About
one of the most beautiful sites of the Middle Atlas, where sumptuous waterfalls, haloed with a rainbow almost permanent, rush from a height of 110 m in a bowl of limestone rocks in the middle of a luxuriant vegetation. It is possible to swim at the foot of waterfalls, accessible by a shady path with olive trees.
At the top of the falls, close to the impressive gulf, are a dozen ancient grain mills, still in operation thanks to the water of the torrent. At dusk, we can see whole families of monkeys heckling in the carob trees, these big trees with tasty fruits they love

- 1Ouzoud Waterfalls are located near the Grand Atlas village of Tanaghmeilt, in the province of Azilal, 150 km northeast of Marrakech, in Morocco. Ouzoud means "the act of grinding grain" in Berber. This seems to be confirmed by the frequent mills in the region
About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- emmachisit20090 contributionsCamel rideIt's full of litter. We had a great camel ride through palm trees, but it wasn't particularly romantic - more like a massive rubbish dump. It's so sad that locals seem completely oblivious of this. Our guide was so lovely that I cannot hold the rubbish against him, but it was just sad to see.Written April 13, 2023
- PALTravel0 contributionsOne of the few places you could go during the COVID-19 ShutdownThe Marrakech markets were closed and there were very few places our guide could take us ... but this was an interesting visit. This Palm oasis is said to have several hundred thousand trees. The section we visited had camels, if you wanted to ride, and many mother/baby pairs. A lot of the large palm trees were no more, but they'd planted a lot of new trees and were watering them when we visited. Would not have visited if we could have done Medina shopping.Written April 3, 2020
- Adesola O0 contributionsTrip to MarrakeshWent to Marrakesh for birthday party, the villa was fantastic and serene, staff was so respectful and traditional. Room was also impeccably made ready. Also had a wonderful time at the market and Town Square. Would always visit marakech.Written June 24, 2019
- Charles H0 contributionsA dwindling oasis with plenty of camel ridingTake a taxi or bus and have a camel ride. No need to join an organised excursion. Our taxi driver waited and drove us round the La Palmerie circuit for a very decent price. Find a taxi outside the city gates not waiting for tourists and their fares are very reasonable.Written June 6, 2019
- ogerkan0 contributionsNot much of the Palm Groves remainDrove thru what remains of the famous Palm Groves of Marrakech on a motorcycle sidecar tour. There are patches of Palm Trees on private land that still thrive but with the water table dropping over the years, the Palm Groves have been devastated. We were told there are now 19 golf courses in Marrakech (think of the water they such up). Later on during our trip, we were able to see Palm Groves in the Zagora area that must have been similar. The King's sister has started a program to plant 500,000 palm trees with water trucked in to support their growth. Maybe in a few decades, there will be some headway made.Written May 13, 2019
- BBtraveler570 contributionsLots of unrealized potentialThe hotel is "tired" and in need of renovation. Staff are not particularly service oriented. We stayed for 5 days and I had to have my key card reset 8 times because it did not work. Our bathroom was in bad need of updating or at least some general maintenance. The hotel is part of a large complex, all of which seems to be suffering from a lack of attention. Overall, a lovely setting, just not a very good hotel. On the positive side, the breakfast buffet was quite good, when you look past the fact that the restaurant carpet is in need of repair (at a minimum) or replacement.Written April 20, 2019
- CassWoking0 contributionsGolf weekendGood course in very good condition with fast greens - back 9 has some decent carries required over the scrub land but there are bail out areas for the shorter hitters. recommend caddies as makes life easier likely to save a few shots aswell and not that expensive 200 dirhams.Written April 15, 2019
- 23rita0 contributionsHad to Ride a Camel! The one hour ride was someting that I had on my to-do list and it was a very nice experience! Though quite comfortable on the camel, the ride would have been just fine for 30 minutes! Staff very nice! Great photo ops!Written March 18, 2019

- AndyCorns0 contributionsLovely AreaVisited La Palmeraie for a sunset camel ride. The scenery was beautiful in both directions. Our guide was good, friendly and taught us a few Arabic wordsWritten November 6, 2018
- make-more-art0 contributionsOld style swankyOur Moroccan friends say the Palmeraie resort opened some 30 years ago. And some areas show a bit of wear and could use an update. But the marble floors, fresh roses in your room, private terrace balcony with a table and chairs and huge included breakfast more than makes up for it. The staff were warm, helpful and friendly. The pool marvelous. A lovely respite from busy Marrakech.Written September 23, 2018
- Shah_Sunny1000 contributionsQuad Biking in PalmerieSo we booked half a day of quad biking in the Palmarie. It was a good experience (although just spend 90 mins on a quad). Just takes you through the area and couple of stops for photos and one for some tea (around 15 mins each).Written June 17, 2018
- Singha10 contributionsHalf Day Bike TourWe chose this as it was very close tour hotel and firstly wouldn't involve any driving and secondly it was off road, away from cars ! It's quite a large area and wasn't that attractive basically un tended flat scrap land with a few up market hotels scattered around. it looks like it is going to be a natural development area for the ever growing Marrakech. All in all a good trip out but nothing special !Written May 20, 2018
- Alfatransport0 contributionsArmy of Palm threesGood place for doing camel riding , quad biking ... Just for fun just make sure to choose a good company to drive you there .Written May 7, 2018

What no tour operator will tell you is that if you have certain medical conditions, this tour is not safe. Joint and muscle disease, heart disease, diabetes. Although some of these can be managed, with other disorders like joint and muscle this is terrifying. This and another waterfall excursion called Ourika is hours of steep inclines over mountains with no actual steps most of the way (just rocks) and no guard rails. You are literally on the edge of a mountain. Not suitable for physical disabilities. But as long as they take your money, no one cares enough to warn you about thar before you book.
