This was a wonderful day, and the highlight of my Morocco trip! Our guide Mohammad, affectionately known as Potatoes, really brought things to life with his passion and enthusiasm. The berber village we visited was his home, and the other travellers and I agreed that this gave it an extra special touch. We were not a solo group: there were about 12 of us in total, but I wouldn't let this put you off as the other travellers were really friendly and I actually really loved interacting with them.
The only complaint I can think of was that the "optional" lunch wasn't really optional, and it was kind of forced on us without our even realising it. If you would like to opt out of lunch like we did, make sure to voice this early and clearly, otherwise lunch will just be given to you and you'll have to fork over €6.
The little hike to the waterfall is lots of fun and full of beautiful views, and I wouldn't say it's tricky but would definitely recommend good shoes and maybe a companion whose arm to cling to. There are a few slippery spots (I ALMOST fell a couple of times) and two slightly ramshackle wooden bridges over streams to cross, although they're very short, just a few steps and you're safely on the other side. If you have legitimate mobility issues you'll want to think carefully about this part of the trip, but if you're just a bit lazy or clumsy like me you'll be fine. The stunning views and winding paths deep into the berber village make it worthwhile. It would be nice if the guide could allow a little bit of time to just have a look around the village at our own pace, and go to the shops/buy souvenirs, as I wanted to do this a few times but had to hurry along so that I wouldn't get left behind.
There are plenty of photo stops and you really don't spend that much time sitting in the car. Considering all the things we did and different environments we saw, this is above and beyond what you pay. The whole day just flew by.

Ismael did a spectacular job of showing us his village and the community he is from. This was by far the highlight of our trip. We had four little kids with us ages 7, 5, 3 and a 1-year-old. This trip is definitely not for the faint of heart, one thing that could be relayed a little more clear was appropriate shoes. You are going on an actual hike through Rocky terrain with uneven surfaces. We had no problems at all because we are quite active but there were a couple people in our group who came in sandals and it is not the best shoes for this trip. We had a wonderful ride with camels, saw the agafay, atlas mountains and the waterfalls. Ismael is deeply passionate about his community and sharing that knowledge with visitors. The berber community is greatly appreciative of all travelers and travelers should respect and be appreciative of them as well. A truly unique experience that is unique to Morocco. We had a wonderful lunch and even had tea at ismaels aunt's house. We again would like to highlight that you need appropriate hiking or sport shoes for this tour. Bring water. Would highly recommend for anyone interested in more of an adventure type excursion. Our kids absolutely loved it but we did feel a little bit unprepared for the degree of risk involved crossing the waterfalls on rickety handmade bridges, but again it was a truly wonderful experience that we would do again 10 times out of 10. But that is just our family. We could definitely see how other families might not be willing to attempt such a moderate to high difficulty trip. Be prepared to take a lot of pictures and be blown away at the landscape of the mountainous terrain and villages spread throughout the mountains. For those that are reading this over the next few months and years we highly recommend you take this tour before it becomes completely commercialized. The path to the waterfalls is quite narrow and allows for only a certain amount of traffic at once. We imagine in the future as development continues in this region and more investment is made this tour will be extremely difficult to maintain once it gets more commercialized. The pathways are simply too small and the bridges are too unsafe for high volume traffic until more investment is made to accommodate more foot traffic. But we are truly glad to have experienced this tour and would highly recommend to anyone. It was again our highlight of the trip, and that is saying a lot and given that we went many places in Marrakech area. Ismael give us the impression that he is one of the locals promoting his berber community and he does a wonderful job of doing that. He moves quickly through the hiking tour but definitely provides time to give explanation and background of the areas that you are traveling to and how important development is in his community. It is approximately a 1 to 2 hour zigzag van ride to and from the mountains so be prepared for that type of travel. But in the end the tour is absolutely worth every minute of the travel if you are traveling to this area. For us, this was on par with any souk or Palace you could see, if not more unique. Ismael, absolutely spectacular job.

Our tour guide, Abdelhadi, was very friendly and engaging.

The destinations themselves were a mixed bag.

The Atlas Mountains was a nice destination with a really nice (but small) waterfall at the end. However, be warned that you really do need moderate fitness to climb the last destination as it says in the description. There were a couple of older people in the tour group who really struggled to climb the steep mountain and were lagging behind. Silver lining is that Abdelhadi never abandoned them and gave the group multiple breaks so that the people lagging behind could catch up.

Lunch was a disappointment. It was not served at the desert like the picture makes it seem. Instead, lunch was served at a restaurant (which felt like a house) within the mountains. The food itself was Moroccan salad, Berba bread, Chicken tagine and fresh fruits. For 6EUR (additional cost to the ticket) this didn’t seem like bad value for money but the tagine was bland and a tiny portion (1 small chicken thigh per person).

The desert was as expected from the research. First off, don’t be fooled into thinking this is a Sandy desert like the edited pics on google or you will be severely disappointed. The sandy parts of the desert are 6 hours drive away from Marrakesh, so a day trip there is impossible. This area of desert is very grey with loads of stones/pebbles and dirt and no sand. The camel ride lasted for 30 mins and we were taken round a circle on a flat part of the desert (behind someone’s property). It was fun as a first time camel riding experience, but if you’ve done it before or you’re expecting a Sahara-esque environment, then this isn’t for you.

Overall, we definitely enjoyed our time on this trip. Plus given the price we paid (26EUR excl. food), we felt it was worth the money.

The trip was worth every penny
Well organised
Our tour guide was excellent, very warm, friendly and welcoming, Abdul Hadi.
He also gave us the history not the Berber village
First stop was breakfast in the Berber Village, which was homemade Moroccan bread with Moroccan tea (wasn’t expecting this so was a good extra)
It’s also an Argon oil factory, authentic Argon oil, made by the locals.
We invited to join in the making of the oil and even sang and danced with the Berber women.
Of course we bought some argon oil.
Next stop was the Atlas Mountains, breathtaking views as you drive to the Mountains.
The trek through the mountains as with other reviews, the first 10mins are the hardest, but it’s not an impossible 10mins, just that the state of the climb is steep, once you’re past that it’s a lot easier, the views amazing and the guide Abdul Hadi was always on hand to help if needed.
Definitely wear appropriate shoes (trainers or equivalent) don’t wear sandals it’ll make the climb a bit more uncomfortable.
Waterfalls is amazing.
Plenty of opportunity to take pictures.
Our guide was always on hand to take pictures for us too,.
Lunch in the mountains (an additional 6 euros)
Scrumptious and breathtaking views.
Concluded with a camel ride in the Agafay dessert,
It’s about. 30min ride, after a full day it was the right amount of time.
They dress you up in the head wrap and traditional clothing, it goes over your own clothes.
Moroccan tea is also served.
All in all a must do trip
Thanks to our tour guide Abdul Hadi
Picked up about 8:20am and returned about 6pm

A brilliant experience. I would absolutely recommend.

The driver picked the 3 of us up from the hotel, drove to the Atlas Mountains and made stops on the way for some great pictures and some breakfast and Moroccan Tea in a restaurant/shop where they also sell Argan Oil and other natural products.
The driver (Omar) was very lovely and full of energy. The vibe was great.

We then took a hike through the mountains with tour guide Hamid, who was absolutely great, he is extremely knowledgeable and was very helpful and kind.
I can’t recommend him enough. Lunch is then served in the mountains at an affordable price so I would recommend taking some extra cash for this and and for tips.

Lastly we stopped at the desert where we rode Camels owned by a small family business. They were very kind and looked after us. They provide cultural camel riding gear and did a great job of taking pictures of us. Again, I would take some extra cash for tips as they genuinely do provide a fab service.

Thankyou to Omar and Hamid, for making us feel very welcome and making the whole experience a 10/10.

Highly recommend this trip. Our tour guide Idriss spoke both English and French and was very good throughout what was a long day, that started at 0820hrs (hotel pick up) and ended at 1800hrs (hotel drop-off). First stop was the camel rides following a scenic drive. If you’ve never ridden one of these wonderful animals, then you’re missing out! After dressing in traditional Moroccan outfits, our group we rode for 30 minutes (you won’t need to do more than that!) before we were driven to a local store that made natural Argon oil and various other cosmetics and products (soaps, candles etc.) and we were offered these at a price. Not for us, but we all enjoyed Moroccan tea, olive oil, almond oil as dips with bread (inclusive in price) on the rooftop of the store. We were then driven to a local Berber village and hiked for over an hour over rocky terrain (Tip: dress accordingly for this trip, good pair of hiking shoes and bring a gilet/body warmer) during which we stopped at the waterfalls before heading onto a light lunch of tagine, local bread, fruit and water. It cost each tour member an extra 70 MAD (about £6). We then said goodbye to our tour guide before our driver drove us back to our hotels. The weather was a plus as the day started with a chill but you soon warm up after the hike! If you like scenic and panoramic views, then you’ll like this tour.

Thanks to Idriss and our driver, Mohammed, for a great day out. Idriss also showed a very British sense of humour which we never expected!

Driss and his team were incredible. Pickup was punctual and directly from our hotel and the day was FULL of amazing activities.

The itinerary ran long and became almost an entire day, but every single person in the group was amenable to it as the experience was one to remember.

If you’re looking for a great value and an incredible day exploring some of the magic Morocco has to offer, seriously look no further.

This trip was such great value for money (9-6pm) Very well organised, friendly and knowledgeable staff. Ibrahim goes out of his way to check everything is ok.There were plenty of opportunities for toilets and drink/snack stops. Fabulous views of the Atlas mountains. Just the right amount of time for everything even in the 40° heat. You definately need trainers for the hike. We loved the freshly squeezed orange juice at the waterfall. Lunch was absolutely delicious (much better than the tagines in our riad). We loved meeting the ladies at the argon oil collaborative- the tea and bread and honey were also delicious. We had a great day!

A fantastic day trip well planned, and really packing in a lot, with amazing sights and views. The whole group on the trip mixed really well and helped make the day a wonderful experience. In addition the tour guide Ibrahim was especially friendly, attentive and professional, providing constant context and great information throughout, and knew his stuff being a local from a berber village. There are lots of stops, with bathroom breaks, refreshments (including mint tea). Also provided with a bottle of water, a great tagine meal by a local berber family in their home, and at a fantastic price. Great value for money. If you are planning on a single day trip, this is the one, you'll not be dissapointed. There was so much packed into this one trip I almost forgot to mention the Camel ride, wow what an experience. One thing to remember: good walking shoes.

We had an amazing day exploring the Desert Agafay and trekking in the Atlas Mountains. The tour was very well organised and our guide, Youssef Kamchad, was very attentive. We were picked up very close to our Ryad, the mini bus was there a few minutes before the agreed pick up time waiting for us. Our first activity was the camel ride which we absolutely loved. The children (age 9&11) could have their own camels which they really enjoyed. We then headed to the Atlas Mountains for a 1.5h long track through local villages and to see some waterfalls. Youssef made sure that my elderly mum could take her time during the initial climb and throughout the whole trip, we didn’t feel pressured at all, it was all very relaxed. The lunch at the end of the track was delicious and the view from the restaurant was stunning. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone, it was one of the highlights of our trip in Marrakech.
